Does Not Apply To Them

Sometimes I wonder
if some drivers can read or not
when it comes to parking in a parking lot.
They ignore the one way system,
the entrance and exits signs
when they want to park their posh new cars.
If you point out their mistake,
they become quite indignant
as if that does not apply to them.
They feel they have the right
to do just as they please
and use the exit instead of the entrance
forgetting everyone else
who may have been
in front of them in the queue.

for John on his first frustration

let me draw you a house
with an entrance gate
leading to an entrance
door and some windows
to let in air.

just that, there will be no
exit doors, no exit gate,
all the windows open,
not designed to close,

that precisely is success
and failure.
there is a sense of
entrance triumphant
ditto an exit for some
ordinary and even
inevitable failures of
our lives.

the windows are some
of our other options, we
let in air to breathe
for a while. we must.

Unfinished business (revised)

and so you walk so confidently finding your exit
passing the blue guard looking at you
without any question,

you wish the path is not crowded with people
you wish there is no vehicle at the parking lot
you wish there are no children at the playground

there is no thunder to hit you, you are confident about this
there is no accident, there is no gun,

there are no killers to shoot you now.
you are confident. You still have an unfinished business.

death has no power over you. and so back to line one
yes, you walk confidently, finding not the exit now,

but the entrance to another risk, another threat, another
escape.

Shame More Than Fine Forbids

I shall park my car
In the non parking zone
And get fined rather than
Parking in someone’s place
And get insulted by him.

Parking Lot

Every means of transport
Needs a parking space
Airport, seaport
A parking lot
Each to mark
The journey's end

One behind the wheel
Is duty bound

World's a huge parking lot
People come and go.

Big Yellow Taxi

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swinging hot spot
Dont it always seem to go
That you dont know what youve got till its gone
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
Shoo-bop-bop-bop-bop, shoo-bop-bop-bop
They took all the trees and put em in a tree museum
And then they charged all the poeple twenty-five bucks just to see em
Dont it always seem to go
That you dont know what youve got till its gone
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
Shoo-bop-bop-bop-bop, shoo-bop-bop-bop
Hey farmer, farmer, put away your ddt now
Give me spots on my apples but leave me the birds and the bees, please
Dont it always seem to go
That you dont know what youve got till its gone
They paved paradise and they put up a parking lot
I say, they paved paradise and they put up a parking lot
Dont it always seem to go
That you dont know what youve got till its gone
They paved paradise and they put up a parking lot
Shoo-bop-bop-bop-bop
Late last night I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi carried off my old man
Dont it always seem to go
That you dont know what youve got till its gone
They paved paradise and they put up a parking lot
Shoo-bop-bop-bop-bop
Dont it always seem to go
That you dont know what youve got till its gone
They paved paradise and they put up a parking lot
Shoo-bop-bop-bop-bop
Oh, now, they paved paradise and they put up a parking lot
Shoo-bop-bop-bop-bop
Hey, steam rolled paradise and put up a parking lot
Shoo-bop-bop-bop-bop

Congregants

the churchgoers had parked
their cars in the parking lot
depriving me of my basketball court

so i rode my bike to Irving Park
watched those 'congregants'
play soccer, toss a frisbee, picnic,
and shoot hoops
enjoying God in their bodies and minds

i'll take the park over the church

There are people

There are people
that claims the street as their own
and stand
at parking places on the sidewalk
and do no work
but to look after cars.

If you park there
and ignore them
and do not
want to use their services
you immediately
become a racist in their eyes

and they will make a scene,
threaten to damage your car,
or make sure that it’s stolen
or so they tell you
since they believe
that you owe them something.

Some spray soapy water
without invitation
on the front window
of your car
when you stop
at a traffic light
and wipe it off
demanding a price.

I wonder why the education
is still lacking
since they have already
got their liberation

and just as odd
these people are ignored
by their compatriots in government
as if they do not exist,
while the country
falls slowly
but surely to pieces.

There are people
that claims the possessions
of others as their own
and at night
prowl around in the streets
shooting, stabbing
and robbing
and estranging people
from their cars.

l’Envoi
Still I wonder where
the problem lies
and would really like
both of my cars back

and I do not know
about white people
that sneak around
in black neighbourhoods at night,
hijack cars,
brake windows
and demand possessions
with loaded guns.

All that they do,
is try to make a living
or hurry away in their leaving.

Animal Awareness

I had a man
Stand on a point
And look out into a void
Framed by the outline of himself.

The point was at the entrance to a cave.
The entrance,
Shaped like him, legs akimbo,
Each arm outstretched to the side,
Resembled a five-legged star,
The point, the lowest crotch of the star.

To relieve the white of the void,
Behind the entrance to the cave
I painted five conical pines
The apex of each at a crotch of the legs of the star.
The void became a sky
Above the peaks of the pines.

Further back inside the cave
I drew a geometrical detail
Of a beetle's fabulous wing,
and another of such obscurity
I was buried in the part
Unsure of knowing the whole.
What's more,
I was without a need to know
What lies BEYOND the whole,
or lies beyond the HOLE.

Closing The Blinds

little dirty faced boy
in the parking lot
in the rain...
no coat, no shoes...
hiding behind cars,
playing with his
imaginary friend...

the old woman at
the window shakes
her head...
'somebody oughta
do something
about that boy...'

closing her blinds,
she pours another
cup of coffee,
and sits down
to read her Bible.

No traffic jam, no hunts for parking
space,
No queue, no panic, no water shortage.
Induced by the ad, I visited the resort.
I returned, having paid heavily.
No advantage without an appendage.

South Park Theme

I'm going down to south park, gonna have myself a time.
Friendly faces everywhere, humble folks without temptation.
Going down to south park, gonna leave my woes behind.
Ample parking day or night, people shouting "howdy neighbor!"
Heading on out to south park, gonna see if i can't unwind.
I like girls with big vaginas, i like girls with big fat titties.
So come on down to south park and meet some friends of mine.

The Man Exclaims Part01

The man exclaims, 'It was by mere chance that I was in the parking lot when the man died, with the murder weapon in my hand. No sir I had o idea how he died. I just picked up the tire iron to check the pressure on my cars tires. I always used this tire iron. For I've always used the one from the parking garage to check my tires.'

the officier spoke sternly in a serious tone, 'that tire iron is not the weapon that killed this man.'

The man questioned in a state of confusion, 'Then what did? '

The officier was angry now. He screamed, 'you did after you smacked him with the tire iron. You ran over him 6 times.'

The man exclaimed, 'but that's not even my car. That's my wife. Mines the one next to it. I'm being framed I swear.'
