Salad Days

Once upon a summertime In days now sadly past
We ran we played, a world of time, oh... that it should last

Without a care of busy times, so seldom seen again
We lived a world through child.s eyes... every day a game.

The summer sun our constant friend, forever it would seem,
The rainy days a faded part, of this our childhood dream

The throes of summers growing pains, now left so far behind
The smell of grass so freshly cut, stays etched upon our mind

The fields of grain that caught the wind and whispered such a tune
Of childish thoughts and innocence... they disappeared so soon.

Our friends that walked beside us, so perfect, like the games
Those memories forever ours, tho' time can lose their names

How we laughed and how we cried and yet we never knew
That these would be our salad days, so perfect yet so few...

When We Were Children

There are times when our mind
slips back to a world we left behind.
To the days when we were children
and innocent to the horrors of humankind.

To the times when the summers sun
seem to last forever and a day,
when we were children
in that world so far away.

In those days when were not
corrupted by life as we are today.
Those days when beauty
came from the petals of a flowers head.

Those days when we were children
are gone to our memories
for us to lovingly remember
of a world we left behind.

Oh Childhood, Where Art Thou?

Oh childhood, where art thou?
Oh please, oh please,
Can you return to me now?

I miss the innocence,
I miss the games;
Hell, I even miss the bullies
Calling everybody bad names.

I miss the times where you'd watch childish TV
And none of your friends found it an embarrassment.
Now, every time I'm caught watching young kids' channels,
I feel like I'm suffering constant harassment.

Where did the days go when my body
Was as small and fit as a fiddle?
Those who grow and choose to be mature
To me shall always be a riddle.

What happened to those chasing games I used to play?
Now I spend my decent mornings needing to shave.
I cannot comprehend why all people must grow old
And why they can't live in the world of fairy-tales told.

Where's my squeaky voice gone?
Why have my chubby cheeks disappeared?
My puberty and hormones have overtaken me
Precisely how I've always feared.

I must now work and slave
For very little wage
In contrast to the freedom and toys I had
From the moment I was released from my baby-cage.

Oh childhood, where art thou?
You should know how much I miss you so.
Sadly, there is no turning the clock back now
As I am forced to perform for the adult-life show.

A Thousand Conversations

(bruce welch/hank marvin)
A thousand conversations on a never ending theme
Seem to linger in my mind like the fragments of a dream
That was once a part of you and remains a part of me
Its the unreal world we lived in that was born of fantasy
You whiled away the hours, making promises that might
Have just changed the world we knew, if theyd only turned out right
But now Im a little wise
I can even raise a laugh
At the funny face you pulled on a faded photograph
New days replace yesterdays in time
Its well to bear in mind
That new ways erase
Nothing stays the same
And now youve even changed your name
Forever Ill remember as I pass by on the train
Streets of paradise we loved
Now so few of them remain
Guess its finally goodbye
Seems we came so suddenly
To the end of childhood dreams
And the way things used to be
La la la la, la la la la, la la la la, la la

Summer Of 69

Got my first real six-string,
Bought it at the five + Dime,
Played it till my fingers bled,
Was the summer of 69.
Me and some guys from school,
had a band and we tried real hard,
Jimmy quit and Joey got married,
Should'a known it would never get far.
When I look back then,
The summers seem to last forever,
And if I had the choice,
Yea, I'd always wanna be there,
Those were the best days of my life.
There aint no use in complainin,
When ya gopt a job to do,
Spent my weekends at the drive-end,
And thats where I met you girl.
Standin' on your momas porch,
You told me that you'd wait forever,
And when you held my hand,
I knew that it was now or never.
Those were the best days of my life.
Back in the summer of 69.
Yea, we were killin' time,
We were young and restless,
We needed to unwind,
I guess nothing can last forever-forever no.
And now the times are changing,
Look at everything thats come and gone,
There are times when I play that old six string,
Think about you wander what went wrong.
Standing on your momas porch, Thats right!
You told me that we'd last forever,
And when you held my hand,
I knew that it was now or never,
Those were the best days of my life.
Back in the summer of 69.

Rainy day...

Rainy day
Cool evening
Porch sitting
Unusual for mid August.
Where is the usual summer evening traffic?
My thoughts drift
into my childhood past.
They come up blank
and I simply do not recall
what I did on summer evenings like this.
I just remember –
the smell of freshly cut grass
the catching of lightening bugs
devouring Good Humor ice cream
friends trying to invite themselves
into my backyard pool
playing a game called “Murder In The Dark”
in the backyard of the house across the street
when the sun went down.
I wonder
what summer evening games
the kids in my old neighborhood play now.
I wonder where
the kids I played with are now.
Should I visit the old neighborhood,
will I find our childhood spirits
still running around the streets?

Memories

The summers were longer, they went on forever
Oh and the sky so blue
We never worried about anything
We didnt question the nature of things
We didnt want to know
Talking in whispers and wondering
Oh and I loved you so
Memories, they linger with you but you
Soon forget that we started in innocence
Memories, they linger with you but you
Soon forget when youre grown
We dream in the night, of mythical days
And nights in white satin
But when the child wakes, the fantasy breaks
We didnt know what the future would bring
We didnt want to know
Something was growing inside me
Oh and I loved you so
Memories, they linger with you but you
Soon forget that we started in innocence
Memories, they linger with you but you
Soon forget when youre grown
Photographs, faded photographs
Holidays, summer holidays
First love, broken promises
All a play, Im going back to yesterday
The feeling was stronger, if went on forever
Oh and your eyes were true
We were so wrapped up in all of our dreams
We didnt care what the future would bring
We didnt want to know
Talking in whispers and wondering
Oh and I loved you so......
Memories, they linger with you but you
Soon forget that we started in innocence
Memories, they linger with you but you
Soon forget when youre grown

Summer Days of Yesteryear

We often live surveying the past
as a summer season comes around,
and selecting the days of living freely
in our memory will be found.

We scrutinize the events of other Summers
experiencing great pleasure and delight
that once we knew when we were just
youngsters when life seemed to be all right.

Through the fading days of yesteryear
we filled our life with many dreams.
From childhood days to adulthood days
it was just a natural step it seems.

We miss the thrills that once was ours
the days we felt were always free.
We live it over each Summer time
and always remains a pleasant memory.

Too swiftly is the flight of time,
Though plentiful be the exuberant ways
that lead us down memory lane
to the scenes of other Summer days.

Though another Summer season shall end,
One wish for all of you we hold
May Summer always bring an abundance
of joy and memories a hundred fold.

Childhood Faded Away

Childhood Faded away,
to a far away land,
simple, so simple were we,
Days of Play,
Going our Way,
Having fun, no care,
for another day,
time for us stood still,
playing king of the hill
Childhood Faded away
thinking of another day,
summer time was fine,
when friends were kind,
swiming holes were filled,
our hearts were thrilled
Childhood Faded Away
to a time that makes me sway
many years have passed away,
since childhood faded to another day,
Childhood Faded to places,
UNKNOWN TO US
floating somewhere in time.

Away With The Summer Days

Verse 1:
I met her on a sunny sunday afternoon
She hit me with a smile warmer than the days of june
By then I knew she had to be in some way a part of me
She was as beautiful as a flower in bloom, flower in bloom
Chorus:
The heat of the sunshine could not compare
To the heat of the passion in times we shared
And then out of the blue the cold winds came
She went away and Ill never be the same
She went away with the summer days
She went away with the summer days
Verse 2:
We were inseperable we would spend
Everyday together night after the day would then
The time would come for the sun to leave (sun to leave)
Thats the way things had to be (had to be)
And when the sun was gone I looked around and so was she
Chorus:
The heat of the sunshine could not compare
To the heat of the passion in times we shared
And then out of the blue the cold winds came
She went away and Ill never be the same
She went away with the summer days
She went away with the summer days
Summer days, oh, summer days
She went away with the summer days
Bridge:
Though the summertime is through (the summertime is through)
I cant stop thinking of you (thinking of you)
I cant seem to get you off my mind
All I know is I cant wait until next summertime
Chorus:
The heat of the sunshine could not compare (noooo)
To the heat of the passion in times we shared
And then out of the blue the cold winds came
She went away and Ill never be the same
She went away with the summer days
She went away with the summer days
The heat of the sunshine could not compare
To the heat of the passion in times we shared
And then out of the blue the cold winds came
She went away and Ill never be the same
She went away with the summer days
She went away with the summer days

A Troubled Soul

In the early hours
I saw church spires,
graveyard stones
and decaying bones,
troubled souls that lay
beneath the clay,
one entered my mind,
a release to find.

She gave no peace
until she found release
from her burning thoughts
that had been caught
in a world where time
refused death to the mind,
where the past won’t die
in those that lie.

I tried to end my dreams,
but in vain it seems.
Forever tormented I would be
until I willingly agree
to let her see her days
in dream like ways.
To revisit once more
through my mind’s door.

Her family and friends,
and days she would spend
playing and having fun
in the warm bright sun.
Her childhood dreams
of scones, jam and cream.
Another push of the swing
before church bells ring.

Chains of daisy flowers
that seemed to take hours.
Watching for who’s peeking
when hiding and seeking.
Playing postman’s knock,
wearing a party frock.
Hopscotch and skipping,
and toffee apple licking.

Eating bread by the fire
toasted on wire.
Poking burning flames
during guessing games.
And a fire that spread,
whilst sleeping in bed.
A world unlike her last
where seeing is past.

With memories all seen,
she’s left my dream,
but maybe one day
she’ll again come my way,
knowing there’s a pillow
and a mind to borrow.
She whispers sleep tight
and fades from sight.

Evil Against The Good

The game unquestionably harsh
Started the day we were born
Out of me God created the best
Out of me evil wants
To recreate the worst
An infant between life and death
Not yet time to escape by losing breath
The game just began for the young one

The game unquestionably harsh
Dark streets and rough childhood
Experience of an adverse neighborhood
Got him trapped under the belly of the beast
Evil encounters sinking in the young head
Thoughts of the good lad decaying
The game heading for the climax

The game unquestionably harsh
Thought I would be good forever
Evil troops changed me for a sinner
Got addicted to the harmful world
Young days of ours full of madness
Got my own demons and so fearless
The game has ambushed us under stress

The game unquestionably harsh
Work of the young man is to daydream
Run the best imaginary world as possible
Managing mind tries the impossible
Fantasy world will never be reality
Perhaps the dream just a prophesy
The game plays tricks in the young mind

The game unquestionably harsh
It is play on the day we are born
Even before us it was playing
As we see more days we get played
Evil rules the planet earth
Good rules the purest heaven
The game is on until the end of times.

There Is Nothing Perfect

basic is the rule
there is nothing perfect
in this world: no perfect person
there will always be lapses
no perfect planes
there will be crashes sometimes
no perfect clothes
for summer, some colors will still be hot
no perfect friends, there will always be
betrayals from time to time
there is even no perfect time
sometimes we caught in a whorl
with the whore
in a black hole where we do not know
anymore what happens next
there is nothing perfect even
in moderation
no perfect life
neither death,
ask God, he is not either
he was once in error
when he became
man.

Do You Miss Those Days At School?

Oh, my school days were my
fun days
Last bench chatting
Under bench munching
Naughty pranks
silly fights
and the never ending talks

Great friends
childish trends
canteen junks
B'day treats
Those were the moments of my life!

Those yawned teachers
Their boring lectures
Those out stood classes
Lab gadgets,
Games periods
Oh, my school days were my
fun days.

Fake diseases
Easy way to bunk classes
Leave note written by friends
It was a big trend
and easy to pretend!

Books
resting in the dust
Teachers
Roaming like ghosts
and we enjoying our
Best!

Those days are like the
River that never bends
Wind that never faints and
Road that never ends..
Those days i enjoyed the value of
friendships
like a pond
glazing unblinkingly at the
blue sky

Today when i think of that days
I smile within my heart
and
I wish i would have never grown older
those funny memories are my companion
When days are long and tiring
my school days were my fun days!

Our school days are our
FUN DAYS
Those days are not to
FORGET
nor to
REGRET
To be a child forever
is every human's intent!

The Woman at the Crossroad Who Laughed

As I walked up the pavement, up the slight hill
to the traffic lights at the crossroads outside the station,
I saw her waiting to cross.
Or rather, I saw first, her laugh..

She held the hand of her son
as she exchanged words with a passing friend
and laughed..

and what I saw in her eyes, her whole face,
as she laughed, was that as she laughed -
(did she know this? How could I tell her, a stranger?
Lady, lady, at the crossroad of our lives,
I’m writing this poem for you now…)

as she laughed, while she laughed,
I saw that she was in touch, the whole of her,
with her deepest self – just that… all that…
and as I saw that self, which was
(Lady, are you reading this?)
the perfection of perfection, all that’s perfect…

it was as if – no, it was just so –
her self looked at me, and so
the perfect looked at the perfect;

herself and mine together laughed,
laughed at imperfection

and as the perfect looked, it saw perfection
spreading through my eyes from our shared self
so that her son was perfect; and her friend was perfect;
and all around us, every they and it were perfect..

(Lady, Lady, at the Cross’s foot,
was it like this for You?)

the light turned green. And we were free
to cross the road; and
free to live; and
free to laugh away illusion; and
free to be ourselves; forever,
in that time which is forever.

Lady, by my faith, this by my hand;
and with my life I do yet swear
upon my life, this to be true;

Lady, hear, in this my orison,
there are no sins
to be remembered.

Golden Days

There are days in our life
we often refer to as our golden days.
Days that will live forever in our memory,
days when our life felt so comfortable
and we had that warm feeling inside.
Times we wished could last forever
and everyday would be like them.
Sadly, all too soon they are placed into our memory.
Sometimes we get the chance to relive them
for a brief spell now and then
whenever we stop and reminisce
with an old friend.
Then for the briefest of moments,
we are transported back then,
the time of our golden days again.

Summer Of '78

It was one of those summers
lasting forever
making the winter wait.
A summer of music and passion
the summer of '78.
You appeared like the summer
sudden and perfect
and not a day too late.
I swear there was music
when I found you
that summer of '78.
It seemed we floated
through the days
and nights were always
filled with stars.
And it seemed every song
that they played on the
radio was ours.
It was one of those summers
only for lovers
touched by the hand of fate.
And now when winter's are long
I remember the summer of '78...

Winter Days Why Do You Came!

Snowy winter days once again came!

Ah Winter days

how did you came?

Haven't you met through your road crying summer days?

Haven't you met through your ways crying Autumn days?

Ah snowy winter days

Haven't you met your friends

Through your road

while you were coming here

Ah sweet summer days

They left us in vain

They Saw our pain

Even the sun above cried for children's ache

First time through my life time

I knew even the sun above has a heart.

While unfortunately human beings didn't have!

Ah chilly winter days how could you come here?

Haven't you met through your road mourning Autumn days.

They were broken when they left

As i know you are friends.

If you ever met them there

They would tell you about our aches.

How pain we've passed through

They saw and they felt

They went home crying all alone

Ah snowy cold winter days how could you come here?

While our world is bared it's clothes

And humanIty is bared of pity as well as the mercy

Poverty huged the cold and has wrapped our world

Ah, how much pain can we bear yet!

Ah, poor souls are in pain till the vein!

Summertime

I recall the summers of yesterday
The thought of them somehow won't go away
The laughter, the play, and the sunny days
The people, the places, all the joy too
I recall the moments and I remember you
Better days, I pray should come
Yet the days before was a lot of fun
I still smile about summers of yesterday
May those fond memories linger forever
In a variety of ways
I love those summer days

Yesterday Man

Sometimes people say to me,
why do you write so much about the past?
I look at them with dreamy eyes;
a small smile curls my lips,
visions of my childhood,
runs across my mind.
Of the days of innocence
that were left so far behind.
Those days when everything was new,
so ready to explore.
Then one day the world came by,
with its harsh reality,
and with a sweep of its hand,
took all the innocence away.
Therefore, now you know why,
I want to be a yesterday man.
