Sonnett VI: A Nuptial Sleep
At length their long kiss severed, with sweet smart:
And as the last slow sudden drops are shed
From sparkling eaves when all the storm has fled,
So singly flagged the pulses of each heart.
Their bosoms sundered, with the opening start
Of married flowers to either side outspread
From the knit stem; yet still their mouths, burnt red,
Fawned on each other where they lay apart.
Sleep sank them lower than the tide of dreams,
And their dreams watched them sink, and slid away.
Slowly their souls swam up again, through gleams
Of watered light and dull drowned waifs of day;
Till from some wonder of new woods and streams
He woke, and wondered more: for there she lay.

In thy imagination, lovely and free
Astray on a unimaginable path
Where me and you are all we hath
Dreaming of dreams that should be
The mind of you to bind with me
In my dreams its thou I see
I see thou with my harmony
Dreams, Dreams, Dreams
Gleams, Gleams, Gleams
Gleams of you and gleams of me
In dreams of you in dreams of me
The gleams that hope
The gleams that elope

A Drowsy Day
THE air is dark, the sky is gray,
The misty shadows come and go,
And here within my dusky room
Each chair looks ghostly in the gloom.
Outside the rain falls cold and slow —
Half-stinging drops, half-blinding spray.
Each slightest sound is magnified,
For drowsy quiet holds her reign;
The burnt stick in the fireplace breaks,
The nodding cat with start awakes,
And then to sleep drops off again,
Unheeding Towser at her side.
I look far out across the lawn,
Where huddled stand the silly sheep;
My work lies idle at my hands,
My thoughts fly out like scattered strands
Of thread, and on the verge of sleep—
Still half awake — I dream and yawn.
What spirits rise before my eyes!
How various of kind and form!
Sweet memories of days long past,
The dreams of youth that could not last,
Each smiling calm, each raging storm,
That swept across my early skies.
Half seen, the bare, gaunt-fingered boughs
Before my window sweep and sway,
And chafe in tortures of unrest.
My chin sinks down upon my breast;
I cannot work on such a day,
But only sit and dream and drowse.

Second Sunday In Advent
Not till the freezing blast is still,
Till freely leaps the sparkling rill,
And gales sweep soft from summer skies,
As o'er a sleeping infant's eyes
A mother's kiss; ere calls like these,
No sunny gleam awakes the trees,
Nor dare the tender flowerets show
Their bosoms to th' uncertain glow.
Why then, in sad and wintry time,
Her heavens all dark with doubt and crime,
Why lifts the Church her drooping head,
As though her evil hour were fled?
Is she less wise than leaves of spring,
Or birds that cower with folded wing?
What sees she in this lowering sky
To tempt her meditative eye?
She has a charm, a word of fire,
A pledge of love that cannot tire;
By tempests, earthquakes, and by wars,
By rushing waves and falling stars,
By every sign her Lord foretold,
She sees the world is waxing old,
And through that last and direst storm
Descries by faith her Saviour's form.
Not surer does each tender gem,
Set in the fig-tree's polish'd stem,
Foreshow the summer season bland,
Than these dread signs Thy mighty hand:
But, oh, frail hearts, and spirits dark!
The season's flight unwarn'd we mark,
But miss the Judge behind the door,
For all the light of sacred lore:
Yet is He there; beneath our eaves
Each sound His wakeful ear receives:
Hush, idle words, and thoughts of ill,
Your Lord is listening: peace, be still.
Christ watches by a Christian's hearth,
Be silent, "vain deluding mirth,"
Till in thine alter'd voice be known
Somewhat of Resignation's tone.
But chiefly ye should lift your gaze
Above the world's uncertain haze,
And look with calm unwavering eye
On the bright fields beyond the sky,
Ye, who your Lord's commission bear
His way of mercy to prepare:
Angels He calls ye: be your strife
To lead on earth an Angel's life.
Think not of rest; though dreams be sweet,
Start up, and ply your heavenward feet.
Is not God's oath upon your head,
Ne'er to sink back on slothful bed,
Never again your loans untie,
Nor let your torches waste and die,
Till, when the shadows thickest fall,
Ye hear your Master's midnight call?

Sundered Paths
TWO travellers, worn with sun and rain
And gropings o'er dim paths unknown,
Meet where long separate ways have grown
To one, and then diverge again.
They halt anigh the green wayside,
Where groves pant with the impassioned song
Of nightingales; wild roses throng
There round them leaning side by side.
As close and still more close they cling,
Like some weird tale--once more in dreams
Lived through with ghastlier horror--seems
That old, cold, lonely wayfairing.
Oh close sweet clasp of hands! oh sweet
Close beat of heart on happy heart;
Beating as though no more apart
Their pulses ever again should beat!
One look of love! one long embrace!
One kiss that welds two lives in one!
And lo, the sudden lifted sun
Lights their slow feet on separate ways.
Fledged by strong love, their wingèd speech
Is borne awhile from soul to soul,
Then ever-widening waters roll
And drown their voices each from each.

A Bush Girl
She's milking in the rain and dark,
As did her mother in the past.
The wretched shed of poles and bark,
Rent by the wind, is leaking fast.
She sees the “home-roof” black and low,
Where, balefully, the hut-fire gleams—
And, like her mother, long ago,
She has her dreams; she has her dreams.
The daybreak haunts the dreary scene,
The brooding ridge, the blue-grey bush,
The “yard” where all her years have been,
Is ankle-deep in dung and slush;
She shivers as the hour drags on,
Her threadbare dress of sackcloth seems—
But, like her mother, years agone,
She has her dreams; she has her dreams.
The sullen “breakfast” where they cut
The blackened “junk.” The lowering face,
As though a crime were in the hut,
As though a curse was on the place;
The muttered question and reply,
The tread that shakes the rotting beams,
The nagging mother, thin and dry—
God help the girl! She has her dreams.
Then for “th’ separator” start,
Most wretched hour in all her life,
With “horse” and harness, dress and cart,
No Chinaman would give his “wife”;
Her heart is sick for light and love,
Her face is often fair and sweet,
And her intelligence above
The minds of all she’s like to meet.
She reads, by slush-lamp light, may be,
When she has dragged her dreary round,
And dreams of cities by the sea
(Where butter’s up, so much the pound),
Of different men from those she knows,
Of shining tides and broad, bright streams;
Of theatres and city shows,
And her release! She has her dreams.
Could I gain her a little rest,
A little light, if but for one,
I think that it would be the best
Of any good I may have done.
But, after all, the paths we go
Are not so glorious as they seem,
And—if t’will help her heart to know—
I’ve had my dream. ’Twas but a dream.

State Of Dreams
Woke up at the break of day
Something chased my dreams away
Isnt it quite strange the way we live
Youre so pretty, youre so sweet
I like to watch you in your sleep
Id give a million if I knew your name
And all I need is to be with you
In a state of dreams - a state of dreams
Thats where I want it to be with you
In a state of dreams - a state of dreams
Love is such a fractured thing
Its splinters slither in our skin
Isnt it quite strange the way we play
Turn off the lights and come to bed
Forget the dreadful things Ive said
Lets wait until the stars come up and we will go our way
Cause all I need is to be with you
In a state of dreams - a state of dreams
Thats where I want it to be with you
In a state of dreams - a state of dreams
Woke up at the break of day...
Something chased my dreams away...

A June-Tide Echo
(After a Richter Concert.)
In the long, sad time, when the sky was grey,
And the keen blast blew through the city drear,
When delight had fled from the night and the day,
My chill heart whispered, " June will be here!
" June with its roses a-sway in the sun,
Its glory of green on mead and tree."
Lo, now the sweet June-tide is nearly done,
June-tide, and never a joy for me
Is it so much of the gods that I pray?
Sure craved man never so slight a boon!
To be glad and glad in my heart one day--
One perfect day of the perfect June.
Sweet sounds to-night rose up, wave upon wave;
Sweet dreams were afloat in the balmy air.
This is the boon of the gods that I crave--
To be glad, as the music and night were fair.
For once, for one fleeting hour, to hold
The fair shape the music that rose and fell
Revealed and concealed like a veiling fold;
To catch for an instant the sweet June spell.
For once, for one hour, to catch and keep
The sweet June secret that mocks my heart;
Now lurking calm, like a thing asleep,
Now hither and thither with start and dart.
Then the sick, slow grief of the weary years,
The slow, sick grief and the sudden pain;
The long days of labour, the nights of tears--
No more these things would I hold in vain.
I would hold my life as a thing of worth;
Pour praise to the gods for a precious thing.
Lo, June in her fairness is on earth,
And never a joy does the niggard bring.
Through Sleepy-Land
Where do you go when you go to sleep,
Little Boy! Little Boy! where?
'Way--'way in where's Little Bo-Peep,
And Little Boy Blue, and the Cows and Sheep
A-wandering 'way in there;--in there--
A-wandering 'way in there!
And what do you see when lost in dreams,
Little Boy, 'way in there?
Firefly-glimmers and glowworm-gleams,
And silvery, low, slow-sliding streams,
And mermaids, smiling out--'way in where
They're a-hiding--'way in there!
Where do you go when the Fairies call,
Little Boy! Little Boy! where?
Wade through the clews of the grasses tall,
Hearing the weir and the waterfall
And the Wee Folk--'way in there--in there--
And the Kelpies--'way in there!
And what do you do when you wake at dawn,
Little Boy! Little Boy! what?
Hug my Mommy and kiss her on
Her smiling eyelids, sweet and wan,
And tell her everything I've forgot
About, a-wandering 'way in there--
Through the blind-world 'way in there!

A light through my heart
The sunrises brightly as ever
with sparkling rays of light
That beams brightly in the morning
Forcing flowers opening to greet thee!
Spreading fine fragrances to smell
Thats the sun spreading smiles
Thats the sun breaking the dawn
Which heralded the beginning of a new day...
I love the sun, though it only makes my day
A bright daylights to behold and to felt
But sun suddnely sets at west side
Slowly it sets to heralded the nightfall
Night that makes me blinded of myself
Untill the moonlight arrived to my rescued
With bright-yellowish lights
And a charming smiles
That revives and rejuvinates my soul
And I danced dearly to believed
I love the mighty moonlight more than you know!
All in all it brighten my heart!
All in all it gives meanings to my nights
But it stayed only for a while
Such sudden demises of joy
Leaving the stars to take over the job
Bright little stars
Sparkling with passions from above
Bright little beauties
My gate to wonderful nights dreams
Dreams where I saw only you, unwritten soul!
Forget the moribund moonlight
I love the stars eager to pick one
But the stars can only be seen at night
It disappeared at dawn breaks
But I need light
I need light that never fades
Light that will always be there to blessed my steps
Sunlights, moonlight and the stars never stayed
But there is only one light
I means only one light that never fades
Neither during the day, nor at night
Light that went straight to my heart
I means straight to my heart
Light neither thin, nor fat
Neither tall, nor short
And neithrt widem nor deep
I mean light upon light
Light that neither rise, not fall
But it is meant to stayed
Meant stayed and make me bright even in the dark!
It is there even when the sun sets
It is there where no star shines
Still shining even when moonlight moved
Thats my love to an Unwritten Soul!
Whose smiles can move the Malaysian mountain!
Thats Unwritten Soul
I meant my words....
A light through my heart.....

Dancing In My Dreams
(b. russell, m. cawley, k. fleming)
Producer: trevor horn
Album: wildest dreams (96)
Ive been running from the truth
Ive been running since my youth, tired of running
I will stand here till you see
I am you and you are me, tired of running
There really is no difference when you look beneath the skin
Someday I know well go beyond this world were living in
Now when I lay me down to sleep I will be dancing in my dreams
Seeing the way it all should be I will be dancing
Now when I lay me down to sleep I will be dancing in my dreams
Seeing the way it all should be I will be dancing
Dancing in my dreams
Theres no hiding in the dark
From the beating of my heart its getting louder
Just as long as we believe
The truth will set us free, its getting louder
All that really matters is the light in your face
In you I see the longing of the whole human race
Now when I lay me down to sleep I will be dancing in my dreams
Seeing the way it all should be I will be dancing
Now when I lay me down to sleep I will be dancing in my dreams
Seeing the way it all should be I will be dancing
Dancing in my dreams
On and on the story goes
Or its the passing of the torch
With one small voice it all begins
Then there are millions more, millions more

Dreams
What dreams we have and how they fly
Like rosy clouds across the sky;
Of wealth, of fame, of sure success,
Of love that comes to cheer and bless;
And how they wither, how they fade,
The waning wealth, the jilting jade -
The fame that for a moment gleams,
Then flies forever, -dreams, ah -dreams!
O burning doubt and long regret
O tears with which our eyes are wet,
Heart-throbs, heart-aches, the glut of pain,
The somber cloud, the bitter rain,
You were not of those dreams - ah! well,
Your full fruition who can tell?
Wealth, fame, and love, ah! love that beams
Upon our souls, all dreams - ah! dreams.

Love Sonnet 46 My Love Sent Me A Song So Soft and Sweet
My love sent me a song so soft and sweet,
Like melody that lulls babies to sleep,
Hinting of angels in their dreams to meet,
Assured in cradle of a mother's keep;
Like breeze that wafts, each note would float about,
Amid the scents pervading forest glades,
Where sun would smile to flowers in its route,
And moon peeps through when night has drawn its shades;
In countless sighs, my heart recalls her touch,
Conveyed by lilting keys and crescendo drops,
Distance lessens the feeling by so much,
At least, never before the singing stops;
.....The song, now in my heart, constantly plays,
.....As long as dreams are dreams, therein it stays.

Sleepy birds [Somnoroase păsărele]
Sleepy birds in trees residing
In the nests they end their flight,
Then in foliage they are hiding –
Sleep well, good night!
Only the cold springs are weeping,
While the woods their turmoil cease;
Flowers in the park are sleeping –
Repose in peace!
The white swan is gliding now to
The thick reeds, making small streams –
May the angels always watch you
In your sweet dreams!
The full moon above is gleaming
Spreading everywhere its light
All is harmony and dreaming –
Sleep well, good night!

The Morning Is A Poem- The Slow Opening Of The Eyes
THE MORNING IS A POEM/ THE SLOW OPENING OF THE EYES
The morning is a poem
The slow opening of the eyes
The first Light-
What a World.
Oh God, Trees, Flowers-
Whatever I see
Gives Hope.
So much else more
Than just me inside-
God thank You for my eyes
The sight of this light
And these Dreams.

The Earth A Cheerless Look Still Wears
The earth a cheerless look still wears,
But spring's breath is already swaying
The dead stalks in the field and playing
With boughs as yet of leafage bare.
Though nature sleeps, through its dull slumber,
Through dreams that slowly fade away,
It hears spring's airy step and gay,
And, happy, smiles at the newcomer...
O soul, my soul, you slumbered too...
What is it that, your sleep disturbing,
Fills you with warmth and tender yearning
And gilds your tarnished dreams anew?
The thawing snows lie sparkling under
The sparkling sky: no clouds above.
My hot blood plays... Is it the languor
Of springtime or - a woman's love?..

Storm Windows
I can hear the wheels of the automobiles
So far away - just moving along through the drifting snow
Its times like these when the temperatures freeze
I sit alone just looking at the world through a storm window
And down on the beach - the sandman sleeps
Time dont fly - it bounds and leaps
And a country band that plays for keeps
They play it so slow
Chorus:
Dont let your baby down
Dont let your baby down
Dont let your baby down
Well, the spirits were high til the well went dry
For so long the raven at my window was only a crow
I bought the rights to the inside fights
And watched a man just beating his hand against a storm window
While miles away oer hills and streams
A candle burns - a witchs dreams
And silence is golden till it screams
Right through your bones
Repeat chorus:
Storm windows - gee but Im getting old
Storm window - keep away the cold
Dont let your baby down
Dont let your baby down
Dont let your baby down

To My Son
Here you are
My little one
Full of happiness and dreams
You're my precious son
You're growing up so quick
So full of life and great joy
No longer my little baby
But a happy little boy
Some nights I sit
And watch while you sleep.
You don't know that I'm there
I make not even a peep
But all of a sudden
You start to stir
Did I make a wrong move?
I don't know, I'm not sure
Then you stop
All is quiet again
I start to think
Right there, right then
Where would I be
If you were not here
I feel tears on my face
It's my biggest fear
I look over at you
You're back sound asleep
You are the one thing in my life
That makes my life so complete
Now you're peaceful and quiet
Sweet dreams and sleep tight
I'll see you again soon
At mornings first light

Dream A Little Dream Of Me (feat. Jade, Paul Shaffer)
Stars shining bright above you,
Light breezes seem to whisper "I love you"
Birds singin' in the Sycamore tree
Dream A Little Dream Of Me
Just say good night and kiss me
Hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me
While I'm alone and blue as can be,
Dream A Little Dream Of Me
Stars fading, but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss, yeah yeah
I'm longing to linger till dawn, my dear
Just say this...
Sweet dreams till some dreams find you
Sweet dreams of me. for worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be,
Dream A Little Dream Of Me
Say nighty-night and kiss me
Hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me
While I'm alone and blue as can be,
Dream A Little Dream Of You and Me (repeat till end

Words and music by don gibson
Sweet dreams of you every night I go through
Why cant I forget you and start my life anew
Instead of having sweet dreams about you?
You dont love me, its plain I should know
Ill never wear your ring I should hate you
The whole night through
Instead of having sweet dreams about you?
Sweet dreams of you things I know cant come true
Why cant I forget the past start loving someone new
Instead of having sweet dreams about you?
