Proserpina
LUNGI è la luce che in sù questo muro
Rifrange appena, un breve istante scorta
Del rio palazzo alla soprana porta.
Lungi quei fiori d'Enna, O lido oscuro,
Dal frutto tuo fatal che omai m'è duro.
Lungi quel cielo dal tartareo manto
Che quì mi cuopre: e lungì ahi lungi ahi quanto
Le notti che saran dai dì che furo.
Lungi da me mi sento; e ognor sognando
Cerco e ricerco, e resto ascoltatrice;
E qualche cuore a qualche anima dice,
(Di cui mi giunge il suon da quando in quando.
Continuamente insieme sospirando,)—
“Oimè per te, Proserpina infelice!”
AFAR away the light that brings cold cheer
Unto this wall,—one instant and no more
Admitted at my distant palace-door.
Afar the flowers of Enna from this drear
Dire fruit, which, tasted once, must thrall me here.
Afar those skies from this Tartarean grey
That chills me: and afar, how far away,
The nights that shall be from the days that were.
Afar from mine own self I seem, and wing
Strange ways in thought, and listen for a sign:
And still some heart unto some soul doth pine,
(Whose sounds mine inner sense is fain to bring,
Continually together murmuring,)—
“Woe's me for thee, unhappy Proserpine!”

Funny Abdul
Abdul has habits all so funny
He eats salt mixed with honey
He puts on a lungi and a coat
Sporting thin beard like a goat
He laughs when he feels sorry
And weeps hearing funny story
Sleeping by day, he wakes night
He reports ghosts he had to fight.
In magazines the stories you read
Abdul a funny man, funny indeed!

Just The Same
Theres a light from afar
Like some distant star
It doesnt really matter where you are
One man was happy
One lived in sorrow
Overseer said theyll meet tomorrow
One man was wealthy
One had to borrow
Overseer said theyll meet tomorrow
Theres a light from afar
Like some distant star
It doesnt really matter where you are
Its just the same
Moons silver face
Dark shadows on the wall
Light playing games as evening falls
And when the sunshine
Cant warm your heart again
Soar with the starlight on the evening wind
Theres a light from afar
Like some distant star
It doesnt really matter where you are
Theres a way
Even though your heart is broken
Now by the close
Of one door
Another opens
Leave your heat wide open
The door will open
Theres a light from afar
Like some distant star
It doesnt matter where you are
Its just the same
Its just the same
Its just the same
Its just the same

Last Day
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
I fear that stranger from afar
He looks and wanders
Face all covered with scars.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
I fear that stranger from afar
He whispers chills into the air
He freezes my soul with a single stare.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
I fear that stranger from afar
Blood red shot eyes look at me
The fear in my brown one's he can see.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
I fear that stranger from afar
Step by step he limps his way
Thump by thump my heart fears today was its last day
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
I fear that stranger from afar
I turn around and start to run from that stare
But when I turn he stands right there.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
I fear that stranger from afar
He smiles exposing rotting yellow teeth and horrible breath
I know that this is a sign of Deah.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
I fear that stranger from afar
I close my eyes and pray
'Oh God, I wish I'd lived today as if it were my Last Day.'

From Afar
If I cannot see you from afar
Look into your eyes, that hint of depth
Hidden inside
If I cannot hear you from afar
Whisper in my ear, rest assured that
You are near
And I know not what its like
The aforementioned
For the distance between us
As are the stars, I only have you
In my imagination
In my imagination
Just to love you
From afar
If I cannot kiss you from afar
Press against your lips, taste the
Sweetness of your breath
If I cannot touch you from afar
Hold you in my arms, keep you warm
And safe from harm
Though our circumstances
Cause separation
In the absence
Theres a presence in my heart
I will surrender, Ill surrender to my
Quiet contemplation
My quiet contemplation
Ill just, Ill just love you
From afar
There must be a better way
A better way of passing the time
cause I cant seem to get her out
Get her out of my mind

Per Amarti
Amare dire la cosa che
Tu non diresti mai
Amare camminare con lei
Per leternit
amare quando resto e penso
Dove sarai
Amare quando non capisci
Pi cosa fai
Amare quando la proteggi
Dalla pioggia dal vento
Amare tu labbracci
E dimentichi il tempo
Amare quando tu la pensi
E non riesci a mangiare
Amare quando lei ti racconta
E ti va di ascoltare
Per amarti ti verrei a cercare
Al confini del mare
Per amarti chiederei alla sera
Di poterti sfiorare
Per amarti legherei alla pioggia
Anche il fuoco...io
Per amarti ti dare la mia vita...
...solo per baciarti
Amare quando scrivi il suo nome
E ti trema la mano
Amare quando sogni soltanto
Di portarla lontano
Amare quando tu la vedi
E ritrovi I suoi occhi
Amare quando ti sorprendi
Di come la tocchi

From Afar
From afar,
I can only wish you well.
Within me I can feel...
I can tell,
There is an urgent disturbance.
And a need to reach and speak to someone.
Something unsettling has been done.
And from afar,
I can only wish you well.
I hope you know I am here for you.
I hope you do.
And will let me know how you are,
From afar.

About You
I stood upon the sand of the sea and,
I saw your naked body from afar;
And it was not about the cytology around,
But it was about you and your beauty from afar.
Versatile blues of a teenage's love,
And of the emotion of the scenario around;
But breezing from coast to coast to share a view,
And it was all about you and your beauty from afar.

From Afar...
iT is only from afar
that we sometimes see what is real...
it is the function of distance
that makes us see all the details
something ironic
putting our tongues in aghast
but only for a while
as they say
the skies become rolled up sleeves
and the stars fall like leaves from the fig trees
from afar....

A love from afar
A love from afar
~
I have loved you from afar
To great a distance to be spoken
In my dreams we have loved each other
But a dream cannot be touched
For all the will and belief
That a steady heart can guide
The is an acceptance to be had
However beautiful it may be, the dream
It will only ever live in a though
I should forget you I have tried
But my heart remains stubborn
Refuses to let go the dream
Still I love you from afar
still the distance remains
Unspoken and untouched
It is something we may never know

An Exile's Death
Of what does this poor exile dream?
His garden plot, his dewy mead,
Perchance his tools, perchance his team,—
But ever of murdered France indeed;
Her memory makes his sad heart bleed.
While those that slew her clutch their pay,
The exile pleads with bitter cry:
One cannot live with bread away;
Afar from home, one's fain—how fain!—to die.
The workman sees his workshop still,
And the poor peasant his loved cot;
Sweet homely flowers on the window-sill,
Or the bright hearth (when flowers bloom not)
Smiling on all things unforgot,—
E'en flickering on that nook whence aye
His grandmam's bed erst met his eye.
One cannot live with bread away;
Afar from home, one's fain—how fain!—to die.
In springtime swarm the honey bees;
Pert sparrows, quick heaven's gifts to share.
Blithe 'mong the barley crop one sees;
Sad little rogues, sans though, or care
They rob, as though they eagles were.
An old-world chateau, ivied, grey,
Crumbles the snug farmstead anigh.
One cannot live with bread away;
Afar from home, one's fain—how fain!—to die.
With file and mallet one can live
And keep one's wife and youngster's bright;
One works from faintest dawn till eve,
And in the toil finds true delight.
O sacred labour! life and light!
Our fathers toiled till, wearied, they
Resigned the tools with a smile or sigh.
One cannot live with bread away;
Afar from home, one's fain—how fain!—to die.
On holidays, the artisan,
His tools and cares all cheerily stowing,
Singing brave songs which bless or ban,
Cap jaunty on brow, blouse loosely flowing,
Forth to some festal haunt is going.
One eats a rabbit (so they say!)
And quaffs sour wine of Hungary.
One cannot live with bread away;
Afar from home, one's fain—how fain!—to die.
On Sundays aye the peasant strong
Sings out for Jeanne or Jacqueline:
'Now sweetheart, quickly come along,—
I warrant me, with ribbons fine,—
To dance on the hill till stars bright shine.'
The sabot hath a tricksy way
Of making music in July.
One cannot live with bread away;
Afar from home, one's fain—how fain!—to die.
Mournfully aye the exiles muse,
With spirit,—alas! nigh broken down.
Still they regard the darkling yews
That on green peaceful graves still frown.
One dreams of Germany, and one
Of poor bruised Poland, hapless prey,
And one of beauteous Italy.
One cannot live with bread away;
Afar from home, one's fain—how fain!—to die.
An exile, tired of hopeless pain,
Lay dying; calm, scarce sad, looked he.
'Why die?' I gently asked him then.
He answered, 'Is life sweet to thee?'
Then smiled, 'I shall at length be free!
Farewell, I die. O France, for aye
Thee shall the tyrant crucify?'
One cannot live with bread away;
Afar from home, one's fain—how fain!—to die.
'I die because I see no longer
The fields, erewhile the world to me.
I die, because I hear no longer
The birds, my whole world's melody.
My soul is where I cannot be.
'Twixt four rough planks my body lay,
And bury me,—I care not, I!'
One cannot live with bread away;
Afar from home, one's fain—how fain!—to die.

That Beautiful Somewhere...
That beautiful somewhere
Wherever you are
Those faraway places from here
In the days afar
That beautiful dream
In the distant from all
In a flowing stream
Those sometimes call
In dreams that come true
When days are in real
As memories we renew
With each our own feel
Days that once were blue
In aspects and appeal
Coming here again thru
With our thoughts surreal
That beautiful somewhere
Its touch and its flow
Those in far-away from nowhere
Those come here and go
Their magical spots
In evening of gold
Those beautiful plots
Those at times unfold
That beautiful somewhere
Wherever you are
Those faraway places from here
In the days afar
That beautiful of nowhere
In my heart and yours
Giving all its beauty to share
And life adores

Quel Vestito Semplice
un giorno che si scivola
Tra noia e umidit
Nel buio resto immobile
Lo sai che cosa fa
La noia e l'umidit
Con quel vestito semplice
Con quella faccia l
Che cosa avrei da perdere
Ti trovo bene si
Ti trovo bene si
Contenta tu
Ma cosa vuoi di pi
Io non ho problemi
Io non ne ho pi
Quando credi
quando vuoi
quando ti conviene
Con quella storia semplice
Con quella faccia l
Perch dovrei resistere
Ti trovo bene si
Ti trovo bene si
Se cos facile
Se tutto qui
Che cosa avrei da perdere
Ti trovo bene si
Ti trovo bene si
Ma quando vuoi
Quando possibile
Certo lo possiamo
Anche ripetere
Quando credi
quando vuoi
quando ti va bene..
quando ti conviene
quando ti conviene
un giorno che si scivola
Fra noia e umidit
Nel buio resto immobile
Lo sai che cosa fa
La noia e l'umidit
Contenta tu
Ma cosa vuoi di pi
Io non ho problemi
Io non ne ho pi
Quando credi
quando vuoi
quando ti va bene

Once upon a shooting star
Once upon a shooting star, I made a wish for a love afar, the one man I wish to have, for him my life I would give, when he looks into my eyes, I get the instant rush of butterflies, I love this man with all of my heart, the love I feel is like a game of darts, taking chances and scoring high, if not for him I would have no life, we are as one in every way, together forever until the end of days, Once upon a shooting star, I wished for a love afar, I thank that star for all it is worth, and forever this person there forth.

The Mother
Your children grow from you apart,
Afar and still afar;
And yet it should rejoice your heart
To see how glad they are;
In school and sport, in work and play,
And last, in wedded bliss
How others claim with joy to-day
The lips you used to kiss.
Your children distant will become,
And wide the gulf will grow;
The lips of loving will be dumb,
The trust you used to know
Will in another's heart repose,
Another's voice will cheer . . .
And you will fondle baby clothes
And brush away a tear.
But though you are estranged almost,
And often lost to view,
How you will see a little ghost
Who ran to cling to you!
Yet maybe children's children will
Caress you with a smile . . .
Grandmother love will bless you still,--
Well, just a little while.

From Afar
The 'I' that floats along the wave of time,
From a distance I watch him.
With the dust and the water,
With the fruit and the flower,
With the All he is rushing forward.
He is always on the surface,
Tossed by the waves and dancing to the rhythm
Of joy and suffering.
The least loss makes him suffer,
The least wound hurts him--
Him I see from afar.
That 'I' is not my real self;
I am still within myself,
I do not float in the stream of death.
I am free, I am desireless,
I am peace, I am illumined--
Him I see from afar.

Comunque non questo
il modo di fare
disse il commerciante
all'uomo del pane
domani sar festa
cos fanno 60.000 tonde
mi scusi non ho il resto
le do anche 400 caramelle "
"in cartone?!?"
"no!....sciolte...."
Fu proprio in quell'istante
che la porta si apr
entr un uomo col vestito nero e disse:
"tutti a terra faccia contro il muro
questa una rapina per davvero"
la donna fece un urlo acuto
e dopo svenne in mezzo a tutte le sue caramelle
e poi le cadde addosso lo scaffale
dei regali di Natale...
...ale...male...ale...male
nessuno fuori si accorse di niente
la polizia arriv dopo la gente
e fece un sacco di domande
e prese anche le impronte
poi disse al commerciante
lei deve sporgere denuncia
per adesso contro ignoti
ma vedr che saran pochi
non si deve preoccupare
lei ci faccia lavorare
noi sappiamo come fare
deve solo collabbborare.
Lo portarono in questura
e lo fecero sedere
uscir tra qualche mese
dice devono accertare
controllare, veriffficare
analizzare
eventuali connivenze
coincidenze

A Tragedy
A SOFT-BREASTED bird from the sea
Fell in love with the light-house flame;
And it wheeled round the tower on its airiest wing,
And floated and cried like a lovelorn thing;
It brooded all day and it fluttered all night,
But could win no look from the steadfast light.
For the flame had its heart afar,—
Afar with the ships at sea;
It was thinking of children and waiting wives,
And darkness and danger to sailors' lives;
But the bird had its tender bosom pressed
On the glass where at last it dashed its breast.
The light only flickered, the brighter to glow;
But the bird lay dead on the rocks below.

The Wood By The Sea
I DWELL in the wood that is dark and kind
But afar off tolls the main,
Afar, far off I hear the wind,
And the roving of the rain.
The shade is dark as a palmer's hood,
The air with balm is bland:
But I wish the trees that breathe in the wood
Were ashes in God's hand.
The pines are weary of holding nests,
Are aweary of casting shade;
Wearily smoulder the resin crests
In the pungent gloom of the glade.
Weary are all the birds of sleep,
The nests are weary of wings,
The whole wood yearns to the swaying deep,
The mother of restful things.
The wood is very old and still,
So still when the dead cones fall,
Near in the vale or away on the hill,
You can hear them one and all.
And their falling wearies me;
If mine were the will of God,–oh, then
The wood should tramp to the sounding sea,
Like a marching army of men!
But I dwell in the wood that is dark and kind,
Afar off tolls the main;
Afar, far off I hear the wind
And the roving of the rain.
