A mouse called Paul
There was once a young mouse called Paul,
And though he'd no prowess at all,
He felt he could do anything,
So on him danger would befall,
The things that one shouldn't go near,
Failed to invoke in him a fear,
Which led to him imitating,
A remarkably skilful peer,
He saw the prize on a mousetrap,
Somehow retrieved without mishap,
When Paul tried it out for himself,
A squish was heard after a snap,
He's now pinned to a bit of wood,
With two back legs that are no good,
As he had felt himself able,
To accomplish more than he could.

zy A Mousetrap (a Fable ~ Author Unknown)
A country mouse heard a rustling noise and looked through a crack in the wall to see what might be going on. He saw the farmer and his wife opening a box. To the mouse’s great dismay the box contained a mousetrap. Alarmed the mouse rushed out to the farmyard to spread a warning. “There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house! ”
The chicken, who had been clucking and scratching the earth, raised her head and said: “Mr. Mouse I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. So I shall not allow myself to be bothered by it.”
The mouse turned to the pig and told him: “There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house! The pig sympathized, but said; “I am so very sorry Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it. Be assured however, that you will be in my prayers”.
Next the mouse went to the cow and repeated his alarm: “There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house! ”. The cow looked at him and said: “Gee Mr. Mouse that’s is to bad for you, but it’s no skin off my nose”.
Mr. Mouse returned to the farmhouse head down and dejected. Left to face the mousetrap alone. That very night the loud snap of a mousetrap snapping shut was heard throughout the farmhouse.
The farmers wife got up from bed and rushed out to see what had been caught in the trap. In the darkness she did not see that it was a venomous snake which had gotten its tail caught in the trap. As she stepped near the trap the snake struck out and bit her on her foot. The farmer rushed her to the hospital where the doctors gave the only treatment available but could not guarantee a full recovery. The farmer’s wife asked to be allowed to return to the farmhouse to recuperate.
Once home the farmer’s wife continued to feel ill. She developed a fever so the farmer, hoping to make her feel well, went out to the farmyard and killed the chicken to make his wife some soup. But her sickness continued and many friends and neighbors stopped by to wish her well and offer assistance. Grateful for their concern the farmer went out to the farmyard and slaughtered the pig so that he could feed the well-wishers.
Alas the farmer’s wife continued to decline in health and after some days she passed away. Knowing that many friends and relatives would arrive for the funeral the farmer had the cow butchered so that he would have meat to feed these mourners.
The mouse could only watch from his little crack in the wall. Saddened at the loss of his farmyard friends, but knowing that he had done all he could to warn them of the danger posed by the mousetrap.
The next time you hear someone is facing a problem and shares their concern with you, Remember the story of the Mr. Mouse and the mousetrap. We are all connected in life in what may seem mysterious ways, so when one of us is threatened we are all at risk.

Bodhisattva Nightmare
i felt the bullet
as your body fell,
the sickening gasp of light
lost in the void...
i felt the empty
of your stomach turning,
as you staggered weakly
down that long dusty road.
i felt the bone crushing pain
as he struck your face,
again and again....
i felt the sickness
of the stench of the alley...
i felt the fear and despair of the cell,
the not knowing when
it was going to come...
i felt the hatred and fear
they tormented you with,
for who you loved,
and the way you lived....
i felt the hopelessness
of the hard ass streets,
the gun in your pocket...
the monkey on your back....
i felt.... and still feel!

Letters I Didn't Write
I wish you could have read…
The Letters
that I failed to write
I wish you could have felt the touch…
Of hands that failed to
reach out at night
Would’ve liked for you
to have heard…
Words I couldn’t say
Would’ve liked to have felt
The emotions missed…
When I failed to ask you to stay
What you didn’t feel…
When you didn’t hear …
The words I didn’t say
I wish you could have
At least…Felt the love
That you didn’t feel that day
I wish you could’ve known …
The feelings
that I didn’t show
The words I couldn’t bring to light
And tell you
Long ago
I wish somehow,
you could know now
Of things you knew not then
Of words I didn’t say or write
Of touch, or love
Of things... that might have been

Never Felt So Alive
Written by ricki & kim wilde
Why do I seem to confuse you
Do I lose you
Do I really look so strange
A woman alone is a danger
Is a stranger
She is better off in chains
Oh, how can it be youre happier now
Dont you feel half of you has gone
Sorry to say Ive never felt so together
Ive never felt this strong
Im on my own again
And its never felt so good
(Im on my own)
I dont feel broken hearted
Dont feel that I should
Im on my own again
Hard to believe but I never felt so alive
Why do you want to control me
Try to own me
Like a pet youd like to tame
Dont look at me like Im crazy
Thats just lazy
Cause its you thats got to change
Oh, how can it be youre happier now
Isnt it lonely on your own
Sorry to say my loneliest days have gone
And Ive never felt so at home
Im on my own again
And its never felt so good
(Im on my own)
I dont feel broken hearted
Dont feel that I should
Im on my own again
Hard to believe but I never felt so alive
Im on my own again
After all the years inside
(Im on my own)
Ive destroyed all the things that hurt me
Rediscovered my pride
Im on my own again
Hard to believe but I never felt so alive
Feels so alive
I feel so alive
Im on my own again
And its never felt so good
(Im on my own)
I dont feel broken hearted
Dont feel that I should
Im on my own again
Hard to believe but I never felt so alive
Feels so alive
(Im on my own)
I dont feel broken hearted
Dont feel that I should
Im on my own again

Social Security
No one is safe. The streets are unsafe.
even in the safety zones, it's not safe.
Even safe sex is not safe.
Even things you lock in a safe
are not safe. Never deposit anything
in a safety deposit box, because it
won't be safe there. Nobody is safe
at home during baseball games anymore.
At night I go around in the dark
locking everything, returning
a few minutes later
to make sure I locked
everything. It's not safe here.
It's not safe and they know it.
People get hurt using safety pins.
It was not always this way.
Long ago, everyone felt safe. Aristotle
never felt danger. Herodotus felt danger
only when Xerxes was around. Young women
were afraid of wingéd dragons, but felt
relaxed otherwise. Timotheus, however,
was terrified of storms until he played
one on the flute. After that, everyone
was more afraid of him than of the violent
west wind, which was fine with Timotheus.
Euclid, full of music himself, believed only
that there was safety in numbers.

In The British Museum
'What do you see in that time-touched stone,
When nothing is there
But ashen blankness, although you give it
A rigid stare?
'You look not quite as if you saw,
But as if you heard,
Parting your lips, and treading softly
As mouse or bird.
'It is only the base of a pillar, they'll tell you,
That came to us
From a far old hill men used to name
Areopagus.'
- 'I know no art, and I only view
A stone from a wall,
But I am thinking that stone has echoed
The voice of Paul,
'Paul as he stood and preached beside it
Facing the crowd,
A small gaunt figure with wasted features,
Calling out loud
'Words that in all their intimate accents
Pattered upon
That marble front, and were far reflected,
And then were gone.
'I'm a labouring man, and know but little,
Or nothing at all;
But I can't help thinking that stone once echoed
The voice of Paul.'

Good Night
There's never been a time...
I felt you looked at me with pride
There's never been a moment...
I felt you knew how hard I've tried
I've never lived a day...
Without feeling I'm to blame
I've never felt deserving...
For myself, I feel only shame
I'm tired of doing wrong...
When I try so hard for right
Yes, I've failed at life...I know...
And now, with love, I say good night

No More Rhyme
Verse 1:
When the fear sets in
Where the fire burns
Where I find a place
Where theres nowhere to turn
When the evening sings
An eerie song
Longing for the day
You say Im wrong
Verse 2:
You can find your place
But never fit in
And only when youve left
Do you know where youve been
I can see the light
But only when its gone
You can go on waiting
But only for so long (so long, so long)
Chorus:
I know we are right
Its not always clear
Because Ive never felt the fear
Can it stay so good
Forever in time?
Ive always felt the rhythm
What happens when
Theres no more rhyme?
Verse 3:
Can we face ourselves
Like we face each other?
Weve never felt anything
On our own
I cant wait much longer
To feel any danger
I hope were not living for
A lifetime alone
Chorus
Bridge:
Hard to go on
Its like waiting for
The other shoe to drop
Ill never stop
Believing in you
Its just we never had to struggle
It all came too easy
I hope we felt what we felt from the start
Weve never suffered a broken heart
Weve been so blinded by all the best
We never put our love to the test (to the test)
Ive always felt the rhythm
What happens when
Theres no more rhyme?

Devil In My Loungeroom.
From my cold & ugly room
I felt the warmth of the lounge room
I saw the faint glow of auburn red
& through all the fear of someone there
I forced myself out of my haunted room
& down the hall seared with gloom
I knew of course it was a drea,
But it felt so real
I felt my throat become all stiff
& breathing became an urban myth
My legs were weak
My arms were jelly
Sweat pulsated out, thick & smelly
The first thing I saw was his wicked grin
I felt a kind of barrier
Like a warning from our Lord
Devil in my loungeroom.

The Stalker
She looked demure as she came on board
And sat in a corner seat,
And Paul looked up from his paper as
She crossed her legs in the heat,
The blouse she wore had a bunch of lace,
Her skirt rose over the knee,
And a length of thigh had caught his eye
As the train had gathered speed.
‘Some girls were there for the taking, '
Paul had thought, and he shook his head,
They weren't alive to the dangers that
Their wiser mothers would dread,
So many girls were assaulted
On the track that led to the train,
They needed a good Samaritan;
Outside, it started to rain.
A man came into the carriage
Sat across on the other aisle,
He tried to catch her attention with
Some twisted sort of a smile,
He made a pointed remark, at which
She scowled, but made no reply,
But Paul sat watching and listening
To the man with the evil eye.
The girl stood up as the train pulled in
To the village of Little Cross,
And the man got ready to leave the train
But waited, ‘til she'd got off,
So Paul jumped up on a whim, and thought
To follow, and keep her safe,
He'd keep his eye on this other guy
Be there for her, just in case.
The track led over some common land
Then wandered into a wood,
The girl ploughed on, didn't look back
Though Paul had thought that she should,
The man took off on a side track then
And soon was lost to his view,
Where the ground was covered with thickets
Sparkling still with the morning dew.
The girl had vanished ahead of him
Round a bend in the beaten track,
Paul was hurrying after her
When he heard a sound at his back,
He turned and he saw the girl approach
And knew that he was in strife,
For glittering in her hand he saw
The long curved blade of a knife.
She stabbed him once, she stabbed him twice
She stabbed him a dozen times,
She snarled, ‘Is this what you wanted, No?
Well isn't that a surprise! '
He toppled back as she scythed at him
And tried to catch at his breath,
The words, ‘I thought to protect you, '
Left unsaid, in the throes of death.
They took his wallet, they took his ring
As his blue eyes glazed at the sky,
‘He thought that I was the stalker, ' grinned
The man with the evil eye,
She turned to him an excited smile
And murmured, ‘Gee, that was fun!
Let's take the train to the Junction, Joe,
And get us another one! '

Young People
Young people gather wood, rather rotten wood,
Relaxing as can be, relishing the coal of the fire;
They wait until death has arrived, on their doorstep,
When steps are taken to disturb the real fire of life.
Youth is spending a youth, young men and women,
All of them are splendid in jobs, worthwhile endeavour.
We space our life around the stages we encounter,
The young heart masters a new strategy, feeling good
About the way we wonder and wander, like burning wood.
The heart of red blood felt all right,
But young hearts defend themselves.

Little Men
Little men speak so loudly on the ears of loud people,
Their heads spoke hard and heard many strict statements back;
Like the boats to cross the water of the river
A small task is to accomplish and carry out new sequences
In installing peace to our society;
Fear those tasks as little men who speak
And cowards turn their shame into loss.
Such power is maiming us, when it is called arrogance,
But when children sing in the clouds of heaven
The hard rain is making tears felt with rage and insolence
As they spoke too fast and noisily, they were never trained
Nor were rigours blending with the older lot.
A whole spoken sentence may blend as one aim, as a bending
Of light by a silver mirror.
Fear and then more than fear the children who practice offenses
On the tasks of our people.

Gigantic
And this I know
His teeth as white as snow
What a gas it was to see him
Walk her every day
Into a shady place
With her lips she said
She said
Hey paul, hey paul, hey paul, lets have a ball (3x)
Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
A big big love
Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
A big big love
Lovely legs there are
What a big black mask
What a hunk of love
Walk her every day into a shady place
Hes like the dark, but Id want him
Hey paul, hey paul, hey paul, lets have a ball (3x)
Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
A big big love
Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
A big big love
Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
A big big love
Gigantic, gigantic, gigantic

Naughty Girl
It's after 12
Can't face the day
Remind me just how hard it can be
To forget
I said things I didn't mean
You saw things you shouldn't have seen
Been a naughty girl
Real bad so and so
Done too many things a girl shouldn't know
I swear I never knew
I could hurt you so
One too many things a girl shouldn't know
Can't take the sadness
From your eyes
Can't put the truth back in my lies
Oh whoa
Don't make me try and explain
Let's just start over again
Been a naughty girl
Real bad so and so
Done too many things a girl shouldn't know
I swear I never knew
I could hurt you so
One too many things a girl shouldn't know
The more you try to stay
The more I let you go
Done too many things a girl shouldn't know
I swear I never knew
I could hurt you so
One too many things a girl shouldn't know
Won't stop and try to turn the clock back
I won't beg - I'm no good at that
Too late to start and act like a saint
Can't be something that I ain't
Been a naughty girl
Real bad so and so
Done too many things a girl shouldn't know
I swear I never knew
I could hurt you so
One too many things a girl shouldn't know
The more you try to stay
The more I let you go
From one too many things a girl shouldn't know
I swear I never knew
I could hurt you so
One too many things a girl shouldn't know
Been a naughty girl
Been a naughty girl

Take Me Back
Ive been walking by the river
Ive been walking down by the water
Ive been walking down by the river
Ive been feeling so sad and blue
Ive been thinking, Ive been thinking, Ive been thinking,
Ive been thinking, Ive been thinking, Ive been thinking,
Ah theres so much suffering, and its
Too much confusion, too much, too much confusion in the world
Take me back, take me back, take me back
Take me way back, take me way back, take me way back
Take me way back, take me way back, take me way back
Take me way back, take me way back, ah!
Take me way, way, way, way, way, way, way back, huh!
Help me un.....help me understand
Take me, do you remember the time darlin
When everything made more sense in the world (yeah)
Oh I remember, I remember
When life made more sense
Ah, ah, take me back, take me back, take me back, take me back
Take me back, take me back, take me back, take me back
Take me back (woah) to when the world made more sense
Well theres too much suffering and confusion
And Im walking down by the river
Oh, let me understand religion
Way, way back, way back
When you walked, in a green field, in a green meadow
Down an avenue of trees
On a, on a golden summer
And the sky was blue
And you didnt have no worries, you didnt have no care
You were walking in a green field
In a meadow, through the buttercups, in the summertime
And you looked way out over, way out
Way out over the city and the water
And it feels so good, and it feels so good
And you keep on walking
And the music on the radio, and the music on the radio
Has so much soul, has so much soul
And you listen, in the nightime
While were still and quiet
And you look out on the water
And the big ships, and the big boats
Came on sailing by, by, by, by
And you felt so good, and I felt so good
I felt I wanna blow my harmonica
Take me back, there, take me way back there
Take me back, take me back, take me back
Take me way, way, way back, way back
To when, when I understood
When I understood the light, when I understood the light
In the golden afternoon, in the golden afternoon
In the golden afternoon, in the golden afternoon
In the golden afternoon when we sat and listened to sonny boy blow
In the golden afternoon when
We sat and let sonny boy, blow, blow his harp
Take me back, take me back, take me back
Take me way, way, way, way, way, way, way
Back when i, when I understood, when I understood, yeah
Oh, ah, take me way back, when, when, when, when, when, when
When, when, when, when, when, when, when
I was walking down the
Walking down the street and
It didnt matter
'cause everything felt, everything felt, everything felt
Everything felt, everything felt, everything felt, everything felt
Everything felt, everything felt, everything felt so right, ha
And so good
Everything felt, so right, and so good
Everything felt, so right, and so good
Everything felt, so right, and so good, ah
Everything felt, so right, and so good
Everything felt, so right, and so good, so good
In the eternal now, in the eternal moment
In the eternal now, in the eternal moment
In the eternal now
Everything felt so good, so good, so good, so good, so good
And so right, so right, so right, just
So good, so right, so right, in the eternal
In the eternal moment, in the eternal moment
In the eternal moment, in the eternal moment
When you lived, when you lived
When you lived, in the light
When you lived in the grace
In the grace, in grace
When you lived in the light
In the light, in the grace
And the blessing.
