Walk On

Walking On
is not just a matter
of feet
measuring out
the streets
of this world;
or the clatter
of railway tracks
dwindling to a point
in the far-off, backward-looking,
which has now become the past.

Nor is it the Ocean Liner
slipping out of port,
pushing through waves
which break
and form again
in its wake
and become the past.

Nor is it Heathrow
packed
with little pockets of human misery;
its loudspeakers
calling this one,
telling that one where to go
whom to contact;
sending its iron birds buzzing through the Void.

Nor moving sand
filling the footprints
of the beachcomber.

It is not the Divorce Court
apportioning the family property,
its houses and wardrobes,
bank accounts and children;
everything divided, neatly, into two.

It is not the New Year's Resolution
the half-effort, half-prayer
of one who finds himself
at rock-bottom, needing a new solution,
(sensing the rocks giving way beneath him) .

It is the cleansing of the Heart
with the tears of letting go
what is now too heavy
to possess.

It is the cleansing of the Mind
with the light of understanding,
chasing out shadows
it is no longer necessary
to repress.

It is the cleansing of Conscience
seeing what is obvious,
giving it the courage
to confess.

It is the cleansing of the Spirit
which identifies itself
with absolutely nothing
(and nothing less!) .

Tender

Ache
Can't watch you break
And shatter
Saved
New lives to make
Us better
I'm letting you know
Cleansing my soul
Been letting you know
For days
Turn over everything
Time can heal us again
I'm tender in your arms
Reaching inside of me
Bringing the love I need
The loneliness has gone
Faith
New roads to take
Together
Days
Lying awake
Remember
I'm letting you know
Cleansing my soul
Been letting you know
For days
Turn over everything
Time can heal us again
I'm tender in your arms
Reaching inside of me
Bringing the love I need
The loneliness has gone
I'm letting you know
Cleansing my soul
Been letting you know
For days
Turn over everything
Time can heal us again
I'm tender in your arms
Reaching inside of me
Bringing the love I need
The loneliness has gone
The loneliness has gone

A Winters Walk

This winters day defies the season
The sun kissed lanes resonate with atmosphere
Kent in the sun a delight to mind and eye.
Yet few invade the quiet wayside lanes
Isolation is a joy, a cleansing from people
From the noise and clamour of this world
Where value is found in man made things
Bricks and mortar, stokes and shares.
Here all is free, the sun, the scene, the air.
Such peace invades the tissues of the mind
Creating inner cleansing, true value, self worth.

Pacific ocean love pt.2

I went to the ocean
for a day
the waves and the sand
kept melancholy at bay

soaking and burning
in this salt
water pot
cleansing my soul
when God would not

my life
in pieces
scattered across
a barren land

I was baptized
in the Ocean
where the heavens
meet the sand

Ethnic cleansing

It doesn’t matter what my faith is.
It doesn’t matter what my caste is.
It doesn’t matter what my complexion is.
It doesn’t matter where I live.
Above all I am a human
That should be taken into account.

The wise saying:
United we stand
Divided we fall
Is ignored
By so many people!

O the angry mob
Please don’t go for ethnic cleansing
Please don’t shed blood of another human
In the name of religion or whatever else.

Irrespective of your faith
Why don’t you think
We are all brothers and sisters
To maintain peace?

Please think with your brain
And feel with your heart
It is the only remedy
To cure your mind’s disease.

Psalm 51

Create in me a clean heart o God
And renew a right spirit within me
Create in me a clean heart o God
Release me from this sin and set me free

Restore unto me, the joy of my salvation
And take not thy holy Spirit from me
Restore unto me the joy of my salvation
O Lord I was so blind but now I see

Wash me with your cleansing blood
Wash me whiter than the whitest snow
Wash me with your cleansing blood
May I surrender to the heavnly flow

A broken and a contrite heart
These I know you'll not despise
A broken and a contrite heart
On your mercy my heart alone relies

Without your hand I could not stand
My heart would crumble in the dust
I have no other place to go
In God alone I put my trust

Where could I go where would I turn?
For you are life all else is death
I'll walk with you my heart shall burn
And I will feel the Spirit's breath

Flushed and Eliminated

Like a fast or a cleansing one takes,
To clear the mind and body of toxins...
Undergoing a thorough self examination,
Has the same affect if one has been reborn.

There is an unnecessary waste carried,
Completely flushed and eliminated.
And an unexpected happiness,
Lightens the heart.

With a change accepted,
Needing little if any explanation.
It is just that obvious,
Not to be noticed.

The Solution

No need to wonder - do you belong?
No need to worry
You can be strong
Dont disbelieve it
Let your fears go
There must be more to this life
And we all know
Deep inside
The solution
Staring you down
Looking for
The solution
Bringing you round
Round and round we go
Round and round we go
The past can haunt your future so
Shadows are falling look out below
Voices are calling echoes unknown
There must be more to this life than we all know
Looking for
The solution
Staring you down
Deep inside
The solution
Bringing you round
Giving it out
Giving it out
Do the best that you can do
Giving it out
Giving it out
Its all up to you
Giving it out
Giving it out
Do the best that you can do
Giving it out
Giving it out
Its all up to you
Its all up to you
Over and under and down we go
(down we go)
Caught at the crossroads - which way to go?
(path unknown)
Choosing the right path?
Only you know
Looking for
The solution
You hold the key
Deep inside
The solution
Set yourself free
Round and round we go
Round and round we go
Giving in, giving out
Do the best you can do
Giving in, giving out
Its all up to you
Giving in, giving out
Do the best you can do
Giving in, giving out
Its all up to you

Purified

Verse1
Where the angels see
You are praised as You should be.
But how can I express
My yearning for Your Holiness.
May it be (that)
Chorus
I will open my heart
Search me in the deepest part.
And I will stand in cleansing fire,
By You, purified,
By You I'm purified.
Verse 2
Savior of my soul
To your strength I yield control.
Purge me of my stain
Sin will lose it's mortal reign.
Make me free (and)
Chorus
I will open my heart
Search me in the deepest part.
And I will stand in cleansing fire,
By You, purified,
By You I'm purified.
Bridge
You are Holy
You are Holy
Yes You are Holy
You are Holy
You are Holy
Holy
Chorus
I will open my heart
Search me in the deepest part.
And I will stand in cleansing fire,
By You, purified,
By You I'm purified.

A Buddha, Or...

a buddha...
or just another homeless man,
standing on the corner
of the street going nowhere.
what do we hold in our hands
that will remain?
even daylight is swallowed by night,
and night disappears into the dawn.
and love in the end
is merely a moment given,
a grain of sand
on a deserted beach.
the trees shed their leaves
for the winter cleansing,
and so we lay our bodies
down into the earth's embrace!
o to be ocean,
filling the great chasms of history.
o to be mountain,
and bridge the earth to the sky.
o to be wind,
to come and go without restraint.
o to be fire,
to consume, and yet to give warmth!

and o to know,
that we are each and all,
that we are none and nothing.
both the falling star,
and the blackened sky...
and yes a grain of sand
beneath the traveller's feet,
the home that cannot be taken,
but is freely given!
and hands that have no need to hold!

Armenian Americans - American Armenians

Oh dear Armenians - you whom
Mother America took to her bosom,
helped so many of you to become
rich and powerful...

if the Turks acknowledge the ethnic cleansing
as we call it now, of so many years ago,
when so many erred -

will that assuage your grief? will that
soothe your soul? Must you ask this
of an America not without its own blemishes
in ethnic cleansing, over a longer term...

when the guilty men have long since met their God;
met His justice and his mercy; who - if some
faiths are to be believed - have been reborn
to live out the fruits of their good deeds and their bad...

yes, it is wrong for Turks to bring injustice to today
and say, we'll only help you if you dropp this call
for 'apology, admission' - from whom to whom?

equally wrong, to demand this of the Turks
who today are blameless of their past...
will admission help them too?

Should Adam forever apologise to Eve,
forever, Eve to Adam, and the serpent, thus, to both?

Koha - you the beautiful, who shone behind
the counter there at Macy's - may we look
into each others' eyes, and drink the future's love?

Eco-logical

'Trees need their alone time too' I read it just now
in a poem by Bob Hicok and just like that
the world expanded thoughtfully and gloriously
and I imagined the whole of nature
giving a great sigh of relief
like a dog does when it lies down for the night
and a great sigh goes from the tips of its paws
to its ears or of course it might be the other way around
and trees with that sigh get on with their nightly cleansing routine
and expel all the stuff that mankind has made them put up with
in the world that we 'share' ha ha
and then think about the poor trees in the park and the streets
who've been passive smokers all day not to mention
gas-guzzlers without the accompanying four wheels
to enable them to getoutahere into the countryside for the weekend
to **** that up too yes I'm sorry trees although I must say
you do a good job of it and with silent patience
and don't write complaining to the newpapers in a mass protest
which is just as well as those papers need more trees
so I was just almost feeling complacent that Nature
seems to be well just about keeping the whole thing
on the rails until I looked up at the tops of the tallest trees
and saw the tops dying off
and wanted right then to know if prayer would help
because what else will

and thank you Bob and I guess poetry too
for half a line that brought me to the world
and a laugh then tears.

Solve Et Coagula

Fire, fire
I dissolve and solidify,
Destroy to recreate,
Disassemble to assemble something pure,
Our rubic sol-ve-et-co-ag-u-la
Kill to be born again, cycled a thousand times
Fire, planetary alchemy,
Fire, the time is here now
Fire, four corners to rise
Fire rise!
Fire, theres always loss within,
Fire, the cleansing its time
Fire, shooting arrows to the sky
Fire
I construct a new institution
Not out of bricks, iron, cement, concrete
Or steel
Our rubic sol-ve-et-co-ag-u-la
Distill to purify,
Weve done it a thousand times
Fire, planetary alchemy,
Fire, the time is here now
Fire, four corners to rise
Fire rise!
Fire, theres always loss within,
Fire, the cleansing its time
Fire, shooting arrows to the sky
Fire
Burn, bleed all the lives of life, ascend to
The sky
Burn, all the martyrs
Fire, planetary alchemy,
Fire, the time is here now
Fire, four corners to rise
Fire rise!
Fire, theres always loss within,
Fire, the cleansing its time
Fire, shooting arrows to the sky
Fire

Half The World

Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson
Half the world hates
What half the world does every day
Half the world waits
While half gets on with it anyway
Half the world lives
Half the world makes
Half the world gives
While the other half takes
Half the world is
Half the world was
Half the world thinks
While the other half does
Half the world talks
With half a mind on what they say
Half the world walks
With half a mind to run away
Half the world lies
Half the world learns
Half the world flies
As half the world turns
Half the world cries
Half the world laughs
Half the world tries
To be the other half
Half of us divided like a torn-up photograph half of us are
Trying to reach the other half
Half the world cares
While half the world is wasting the day
Half the world shares
While half the world is stealing away

The Cleansing Waters

the sky was a light and dark gray
i knew the rain was on the way.
i longed to feel GODS cleansing water
upon my head.
thunder and lightning i did not dread.

the rains started off very slow
the pitter patter of the drops
set my heart aglow.
for water is the essence of life
and the way it is used
it will not suffice.

i looked up to the skies
and i thanked GOD above
for every dropp of his love.

this love spread throughout this land
giving everything that lived
a helping hand.

the thunder is his voice screaming
out to all mankind.
to stop this devastation
of all his creations.

the lightning is his fingers
pointing to all that he sees wrong
and destroying what doesn't belong.

and through my eyes i see
all that has been created.
my eyes are full, my heart elated.

i see joy, happiness, gladness, sadness
poverty, hunger, war and hate
but above all this
i see love and faith.

faith can move mountains or so they say
i see this faith every day.
people who are terminally ill
a reprieve from GOD
and are here still.

as the waters cleanse the earth
we are cleansed at our birth
and at our baptisim
we let the cleansing waters begin
to finish wiping away our sins.

Cleanse My Mind

Clutter, clatter…way too much chatter.
I don’t even know what’s the matter;
But I do know that I’m in a mess.
The world passes by and I must confess
I’m on the street corner of life afraid to cross,
Fearing traffic of new ideas will be my loss.
My focus withers with noises of each day.
Old memories dominate as new thoughts give way.

My only hope is to totally cleanse my mind.
Rejuvenate my senses as if they are all redesigned.
Bid farewell to ideas and people not espousing change.
Work toward the positive person I now can arrange.
Rinse away old prejudice so coveted by the inept.
Live by new standards, knowing that here is kept
More precious treasure than can be found in any coffer…
It’s the happiness and peace of mind cleansing can offer.

In Need Of a Deep Cleansing

What is not working,
Has long passed the hour...
Of needing to be fixed.

Whether acknowledging this from a pulpit.
Or soliciting self righteous views...
Through politics,
It makes no difference.

What is not working,
Has long passed the hour...
Of needing to be fixed.

A lack of maturity has overstayed its visit.
Reality, truth and one's perceived existence,
Are not all on the same page as steps to correct.

So many are confused,
And accustomed to being mentally abused...
They refused to remove the veil from their eyes.
With wishes to delude their lives as has been undenied,
As few attempts are made to free and adjust...
Most minds fixed upon temptations and lust.

What is not working,
Has long passed the hour...
Of needing to be fixed.
With a need to be 'real' with it!

Whether acknowledging this from a pulpit.
Or soliciting self righteous views...
Through politics,
It makes no difference.

We...
Are in need,
Of a soul searching done...
That affects the success a deep cleansing gets!
We...
Are in need,
Of deep cleansing.
