Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy on a worldwide tour
Visiting cities and knocking on every door
Visiting hills and dales
In his wake torrential rain and gales
No intention to wreak devastation
Yet he and his family are feared by all nations
Leaving helpless, animals and humans alike
Destroying cars, homes and your precious bike
Sandy follows his sister Katrina
casting ashore boats and ships from the sea and marina
when he departs to places unknown
victims shuffle in disbelief..still in their dressing gown.

Powerful Hurricane Sandy
Sandy gathered strength
from rivers and seas
flooding homes, fields,
markets and subways.
Sandy made a pact
with the strongest winds
knocking down trees,
buildings and other
man-made creations.
Sandy declared her power
over technological inventions
sending houses and streets
into days and nights
of darkness and cold.
Powerful Sandy
has just declared
her invincible power
over powerful humans!

Sandy
Stranded at the drive-in
Branded as a fool
What will they say monday at school
Sandy
Cant you see Im in misery
We made a start
Now were apart
Theres nothing left for me
Love has grown
All alone I sit and wonder why
Why you left me
Oh sandy
O sandy baby
Someday when hi-i-i--igh school is done
Somehow someway our two worlds will be one
In heaven forever and ever we will be
Oh please say youll stay
Oh sandy
(spoken)
Sandy my darling you hurt me real bad
You know its true
But baby you gotta believe when I say
Im helpless without you
Love has grown all alone
I sit and wonder why-y-y oh why you left me
Oh sandy
Sandy, sandy
Why oh sandy

A Rime Of Sandy
Hurricane sandy;
They say she never comes
quite in handy,
Sweeping many off their feet.
Then you strive, you struggle
You refuse to accept defeat.
But yet sandy comes once again
Like a rain in it's own season,
Washing all your labours away
And you cry, you run to your daddy
Who lives quite far away in Heavenly
Saying, please daddy, my sweet daddy;
How can I get rid of Mrs. Sandy?
She has stolen away all my properties.

The Visiting Aunts
This is a memory from my childhood, when I was about Nine years old.
The visiting Aunts have come through the door,
They haven't been here for six months or more,
Their presence is such an incredible bore,
Well I think so!
The visiting Aunts are so out of date,
I soon noticed that when they came through the gate,
Their dresses date back to nineteen-o-eight,
Well I think so!
The visiting Aunts have kisses that smother,
With whiskery chins as one will discover,
Each one is just as bad as the other,
Well I think so!
The visiting Aunts look all around our place,
Tutting and waving their hands, so the lace
Which encircles their wrists shakes a pace,
Why don't they go!
The visiting Aunts are staying to tea,
They're both very fat and will eat more than me,
There'll be nothing left, just you wait and see,
I told you so!
The visiting Aunts they gossip away,
About this and that and 'not in our day',
They never will listen to what others say,
I really feel low!
The visiting Aunts say it's a disgrace,
The way I'm allowed to get dirt on my face,
And go running around with an undone shoelace,
Well, I can't tie a bow!
The visiting Aunts have had 'forty winks',
Mother had said they will go soon, she thinks,
They're both motionless like a couple of sphinx,
Why don't they go!
The visiting Aunts are off down the lane,
Thank goodness they've gone now, they're really a pain, .
I hope that they never visit again,
Please, days go slow!

Hurricane sandy
Hurricane sandy
make people realized
They are nothing
Hurricane sandy is
No ordinary storm
It is super storm
With extraordinary
Width and velocity
Hurricane sandy
Make people realized
They are nothing.
Everybody is in danger here
Nobody is free from fear.
One world one life one air
Live and let live in this earth.
One light one water my dear brother
Nothing is yours
Nothing to bother.

I Am Not That Privileged
What is it you are thinking?
'I'm thinking of all the people,
Referred to as refugees.
When that hurricane Katrina,
Left 'those' people desperate...
Homeless and hungry.'
They were not 'refugees'.
They were citizens.
'Oh.
I see.
And why no mention of 'refugees' left,
Desperate, hungry and homeless...
By a wider devastation,
Created by the hurricane Sandy? '
A depiction of priorities have changed.
And obviously quite different.
'I see.'
Is there an implication you are trying to emphasize?
'Of course not.
I am not that privileged,
To pass judgements with prerogatives.
I've learned too many lessons too early.'

One Of These Days (feat. Ozomatli)
Fifi, That ain't a name for this mutt.
So how about Champion?
Champion you're anything but.
We could call him Tiger, But there's no bite in him,
Tiger!Kittens would frighten him.
Rover! When you think it over,
Rover is the perfect name for this dumb look-in' dog.
Sandy, Sandy's his name if you please.
If you don't be-lieve meask anyone of the fleas
Residing on Sandy,
True he ain't pedigreed, Sandy, there ain't no better breed.
And he really comes in handy,
'Specially when you're all alone in the night
and you're small andterribly frightened it's
Sandy, Sandy who'll always be there!

Sandy
A sandy girl, I dream of
Her beauty has to be sandy
Just like my beautiful Sandy
Whom I have loved so much
Truly her beauty I still am not able to forget
Her innocent eyes, lovely brown lips matched with brown skin
My oh my, that dream is something really special
Will my dream of being loved by my sandy, ever come true?
That fragrance of her was so intoxicating
Could never control myself, when I saw her
Crazy, she always use to drive me
Sandy, my sandy I am searching you in my dreams
Will you come close to me and kiss my lips and even my neck gently
Sensual, will be nature of our love
A girl I dream of and she is sandy
Love me, please love me sandy.

Wasted Life?
it's home
school home
then home
office
home
office
no other places
to go
no other places dared
some white sandy beaches
for sometime
a trek on a steep mountain
sometimes
visiting old folks
no questions asked
but only feeling also their
sense of
loneliness
or lostness in this vast
field of humanity
poetry
walk in the morning
poetry
noontime breaks
siesta
dinner with wife
and sleep
dawn breaks
stunning thoughts
arresting the self
on what next to do
home
home
home
a boring life maybe
but i think
it is not wasted.

Hurricane Sandy: The Nightmare of the Century
Everybody has a fascinating story to tell,
About Sandy, the queen of Halloween.
Believe me, mine is synonymous with hell:
The angry monsters that cannot be seen,
The grumpy sounds of the wavy seas,
The strange harrowing of the wind,
The spasmodic spread out of the sand,
The agonizing sighs of the battered trees,
The heavy landings of the falling lumbers,
The twisting of the utility poles with the wires and the conductors,
The incessant poundings on the roof,
The deafening swears of the thunders,
The flood, the deluge, the blackouts, the haunted booth,
The evacuations, the rescues, the bravery of the first responders,
The tears, the cries, the somber faces of the youngsters,
The untimely deaths, the accidental drowning, the sad funerals,
The lost of many sweet homes, the eerie silence of the malls,
The unwavering help of the lawmakers, the unwanted pool in the basement,
The resiliency of the people, and the full dedication of our President.
We are all in this together; we are all under the weather.
Thank God that we are alive, we can build and rebuild.
The tunnels and the subway tracks are swallowed up by the river.
The cars cannot run and the boats are piled up, one on top of each other.
The jet planes, the helicopters and Big Bird are hiding in the hangar.
Hurricane Sandy means business, she wants to destroy, and devour.
She is not afraid to challenge, defy and show her unbelievable power.
We are all in this together; we are all under the weather.
Thank God that we are alive, we can build and rebuild.
We have unceremoniously experienced the worst;
Presently, let's gleefully hope for the best.
Better days and calmer nights are ahead; tomorrow is near.
Spring is not too distant; let's bury our tears under the giant pier.
Show me the sparkles of the stars, bring me the sunshine,
Show me the clair de lune, and let us send Hurricane Sandy off-line.

A Plea to Hurricane Sandy
Why should you visit today
when people in USA are
lighting their pumpkins
for the coming Halloween
and for the election of a president?
Why should a hurricane
of your kind pass along
the byways and pathways,
rivers, ports of lakes and seas
leaving again unspeakable
trace of your anger and fury?
Oh, hurricane, hurricane Sandy,
will you please just postpone
your visit, at least, for today?

Beachcombing
As the tide retreats, it leaves behind
Once hidden treasures, for folk to find.
Left revealed, is a long strip of shiny, wet sand,
Where treasures, now at their journey’s end, will land.
By the sea, small pieces of glass have been ground,
Leaving their once sharp edges, smooth and round.
There are a few fallen feathers from visiting gulls.
Smooth, egg-shaped pebbles – both shiny and dull.
Shells of all shapes, such as cones, conches, and scallops,
Are washed ashore by the powerful sea, as it gallops.
There are lions’ paws, kings’ crowns, tulips, angel wings,
Slipper shells, jewel boxes, moon snails and other things.
Sugar Kelp, Bladderwrack and Dead Man’s Fingers,
Are some of the seaweeds which, on the shore, linger.
The sight of numerous pieces of discarded litter,
Leaves behind a taste, in my mouth, that is bitter.
Pieces of driftwood, many with interesting shapes,
From the endlessly shifting sea, make their escape.
If, along a sandy beach, you take a relaxing wander,
There are many treasures on which you can ponder.
Folk can while away many an hour of pleasure,
Sifting amongst all the newly arrived treasure.
An hour or two spent exploring a sandy cove,
Can potentially reveal a whole treasure trove.

A Shanty
A Shanty.
I will walk to where the open mass grave of
bleached sandstones is, the grave is flanked
by sober olive trees, which have silvery leaves
and in the breeze remind me of the Black Sea.
I was on tank-ships walked on iron decks and
dreamt of sandy beaches, when ship docked
miles of pipes and oil refineries was on offer,
and lights of cities were always too far away.
Badly paid and far from home this was not
a song of a “Youngman Jansen’s life; a loss
of time if you ask me. The slam of an engine
door a watch over, the sea was isolation.
Ashore together fearful of wolves that circled
us looking for the weakest in the flock, drink
up it’s midnight the last launch back to our ship
in the bay is leaving now, yes, lost was time.
Deep shadows in the vale trees are green again
as breeze dies, I’ll leave my past where it belongs
in the cupboard of the forgettable, I’m free now
and no longer a prisoner of the sea.

Slum Dweller
They call me
Slum dweller
I agree not
Here was I born
Here do I live
I've a close knit family
People help one another
Our shack was built
From parts gathered
By members of my family
And those who lived before
It's compact
We keep it clean
Our people serve
In the shops and buildings
And form the workforce
For factories around
Politicians come
At election time
Promises they make
And then disappear
We drink water
From a tap far off
Facilities lacking
A matter of adjustment
Tourists're brought
To see our surroundings
Like visiting abondoned homes
Affected by a hurricane
Can our lives be improved?
Yes, by all means
Let there be some effort
To make this happen.

The Lonely Silver Rain
Watching waves wash up the beach and washing out again
The water shining scarlet as another day begins
Gazing past the droplets falling on my window pane
On the tan and sandy silence of the lonely silver rain
My house and mind are wallowing in states of disarray
Nothing is for certain except you’ve gone away
Wash my hands obsessively but can’t remove the stain
In the tan and sandy silence of the lonely silver rain
Morning fog is crawling like a curse upon the water
Want to scream into the sky but can’t begin to bother
Old friends, like the darkness, never ask me to explain
To the tan and sandy silence of the lonely silver rain

Sandy
Sandy's the beach
And Sandy was her name,
The place we laid, and played,
Little lovers games.
Together we sat, Sandy and I
Upon the flowing edge of the great sea,
Finding our souls, while
Discovering how to fly free.
The summer's over now
Those days are done,
We've grown, and flown,
And left our youthful fun...
Upon a lonely shore of the setting sun.
