By Their Works
Who cleaned up the Last Supper?
These would be my people.
Maybe hung over, wanting
desperately a better job,
standing with rags
in hand as the window
beckons with hills
of yellow grass. In Da Vinci,
the blue robed apostle
gesturing at Christ
is saying, give Him the check.
What a mess they've made
of their faith. My God
would put a busboy
on earth to roam
among the waiters
and remind them to share
their tips. The woman
who finished one
half eaten olive
and scooped the rest
into her pockets,
walked her tiny pride home
to children who looked
at her smile and saw
the salvation of a meal.
All that week
at work she ignored
customers who talked
of Rome and silk
and crucifixions,
though she couldn't stop
thinking of this man
who said thank you
each time she filled
His glass.

The Calling
as I walked down the unlit street
I saw a candle lit in a window.
like a lighthouse, leading and guiding
the ships in the dark of night.
so was this flicker of light.
it brought me to this window in a chapel
and the stained glass of my lord
CHRIST on the cross.
as I looked upon his picture
'a thought did enter my mind'.
why was CHRIST facing out? instead of in
for all the congregation to see.
that's when I realized that he was calling to me.
calling for me to come inside
for I had so much to hide.
as I walked to this chapel, I saw
it had twelve steps to get to the top.
I knew then I could not stop.
each step had the face of one of the apostles.
and each apostle greeting me in a different way
and they all had something to say.
by the time I reached the top of the stairs
I realized that I had no worries or cares.
for each one had cleansed me in such a way
that I knew this was where I had to stay.
I had to follow the LORDS teachings
and to help others find the way
because there is so many who had gone astray.
I entered this chapel, and a choir
of angels all sang on high
the voices piercing the deepest sky.
as I looked towards the pulpit
I saw a figure standing there
beckoning me to come closer.
I saw his arms stretched to his sides
and he said:
this is where I abide
give your body and soul to me
for I am the CHRIST, I will set you free.
I did-I do-I am
I did- give myself to him
I do -his bidding
I am- set free.

The Enchanted Wood (Part 2)
The great gates of the castle opened
and slowly he walked forward
not sure what to expect.
Cheers rang out as he entered
trumpets blared a fanfare.
He stopped to take it all in,
everywhere he looked
people waved and smiled
as he moved slowly
across the large courtyard
and through the throngs of people
and into the castle itself.
“If you will follow me M’ Lord.”
A tall smartly dressed man said.
He followed the tall man
across the marble floor.
The man stopped by a door.
He opened it to reveal
a long table filled with food.
“We suspected you may be hungry,
please enter and help yourself.”
He had never seen so much food.
He entered, sat, and noticed he was alone.
“Eat as much as you like M’ Lord,
it is all for you.” The tall man said,
and then disappeared.
Not wishing to be greedy
he took a small portion of the food
and when he had eaten enough.
The tall man suddenly appeared again.
“A drink M’ Lord.” He said
and placed a glass in front of him
and filled it with water.
As he raised the glass to his lips and drank,
the tall man appeared again
“Your room is ready M’ Lord.”
He nodded and yawned
then followed the tall man
to what would be his room.
“I’ll wake you in time for supper M’ Lord.”
He climbed onto the large bed
wondering what was happening.
“Why do you look so worried laddie? ”
“Mr Owl where did you come from? ”
“The window was open
so I came to see how you were.”
“I am puzzled Mr Owl.”
“In what way laddie? ”
“Everyone is so kind to me
and I feel I don’t deserve it.”
“Oh poppycock! ” The owl replied.
“But I don’t deserve it.”
“Laddie, everyone deserves kindness
no matter who they are.”
“I am cursed by the witches curse.”
“Rubbish, there is no curse
and there are no witches,
but all will be explained later.”
“How much Later? ”
“When the time is right.
Now you must rest before supper.”
He nodded and rested back.
It was the first time
he ever slept on a pillow.
“Wake up! Wake up!
You will be late for supper.”
He opened his eyes
and looked around
to see who was talking.
He blinked as a set of clothes
walked over to him and said:
“We are what you are wearing
for supper tonight.”
“Clothes do not talk! ”
“Ah, but we do and so do we.”
All the clothes then danced
around the room.
Standing he looked amazed
and somewhat in disbelief
as the clothes flung themselves
at him and dressed him.
Once they had finished
he looked in the mirror at his reflection,
he looked like a prince.
The tall man suddenly appeared and announced.
“Dinner will be ready in five minutes,
you must come along now.
There is no time to waste M’ Lord.”
He followed the tall man down the stairs
to the dinning room door.
To be continued.

Rachel and You and The Day Trip
It was a day trip out
to some seaside place
arranged by the Gospel church
for kids whose parents
were poor
and having got on the coach
you sat in a seat
by the window
and waved at your mother
standing on the pavement
along Rockingham Street
and she waved back
then this girl sat beside you
who you didn't know
and she smiled and said
all right if I sit here?
sure
you said
and looked back out
at your mother
and waved again
and she waved back
and you thought
who is this girl?
and why is she
sitting next to me?
and she looked at out
the window
and waved to her mother
who started talking
to your mother
and they both waved back
to you and the girl
and you said
do you want to sit
by the window?
and she said
ok yes that'd be nice
and so she got out
and you got out
then she got in
and sat
by the window
and you sat
down beside her
and then the coach
started up
and drove off
and you both waved
at your mothers
until they were out of sight
and the girl turned
and said
I'm Rachel
this is my first time
to the seaside
and you said
you can walk around
with me if you want to
and she said
that'd be good
I don't know
anyone else here
and so she did
all day
walked around with you
along the beach
and on the sands
making sandcastles
and in the cafe
where they took you all
for a meal
of fish and chips
and she talked
and talked
and smiled
and laughed
and once she took
hold of your hand
and it seemed
for a while
that she was happy
at least it seemed so
by the width of her smile.

Once Saved Always Saved
Once saved, always saved, upon His Palm we are engraved,
Engraved within God’s Hand, in The Lord, we take our stand,
All given by The Father God, to The Son with an Eternal nod,
For all those who do believe, Eternal assurance they receive.
Grafted into God’s Family Tree, becoming members eternally,
Eternal members of God’s family, by His Grace from Calvary,
Family through His Grace alone, through no effort of our own,
Except, for our faith in Him, Christ, who saved us from all sin.
It is all by Grace, not of works, that we’ll receive eternal perks,
An Eternal Life with reward, from the Grace of Christ our Lord,
His Grace of Eternal endurance, from which we get assurance,
In the finished work of Christ, who alone paid the eternal price.
If it’s by Grace it’s not of us, but, of the One in whom we trust,
The finished work of The Son, finished at Calvary for everyone,
All fully covered by His Blood, Grace afforded by God’s Love,
Grace which offers full salvation, not to some but every nation.
Complete salvation by God’s plan, fully in Christ, to every man,
After we come to faith in the Lord, salvation by God is secured,
We can’t be taken from God’s hand, Christ helps us understand,
So when in Christ you truly believe, Eternal Security you receive.

Simplicity Of The Gospel
Friend it's so easy to receive, when God's Truth you believe,
Saving Grace from our Lord, when His Salvation is implored,
As you truly believe in your heart, The Spirit, God will impart,
Sending the Holy Spirit of Christ, when The Lord saves a life.
As the jailer had asked Paul, what shall I do to save my soul?
Believe on The Lord to be saved, this is what Paul had raved,
Saying nothing more, to that one, but, believe on God's Son,
Who, finished all for you and me, upon that Cross of Calvary.
God finished salvation for us, through The Lord, Christ Jesus,
"It is finished" was His cry, completing salvation for you and I,
Our only work is to believe, with this, salvation we will receive,
Through our simple act of faith, we are saved by God's Grace.
Like the thief upon the cross, being one filled with sin's dross,
He said to Christ, remember me, next to The Cross of Calvary,
Christ knowing He paid the price, He, referred him to Paradise,
He said today you'll be with me, as He was pointing to eternity.
Calvary's Cross is God's only way, to receive Salvation today,
Righteousness credit by "I AM", base on his faith, to Abraham,
Is the Righteousness we receive, when, in The Lord we believe,
It's all about God's Saving Grace, simply received by our faith.

Desperately
There's something 'bout the way
You looked at me
Made me think for a moment that
Maybe we were meant to be
Living our lives separately
And It's strange that things change but not me wanting you so desperately
[chorus]
Oh, I cannot ignore it,
I keep giving in,
But I should know better
'Cause there was something 'bout the way you looked at me
And it's strange that things change but not me wanting you so desperately
You looked my way, you said "you frustrate me"
Like you're thinking of lines and times when you and I were you and me
You took our chance out on the street
then i missed my chance and chances are
It won't be coming back to me
[chorus]
So desperately... ho
[chorus]
I want you so desperately, oo oo oo
I keep giving in,
But I should know better
I keep giving in,
But I should know better
So desperately
I want you so desperately

Sons Faith, Mothers Pride And Joy
She stood looking down into the empty
Ground where her son would find his resting place.
Recalling her pride and joy, as he grew up
From a baby boy.
How he dreamt of things to come
As he played out in the sun
How he would walk with his head held high
And how she stood by his side.
He would always talk of how
he was destined to help others
And how his life would change
For every step had been pre-arranged.
He talked of things to come
And how it would be done.
He would say: there are many of us
Destined for greatness
but in different kinds of ways.
We just have to thank GOD and
get down on our knees and pray.
Many times I would ask: son! Why do you talk so!
And he would reply: many things we do not know.
But everything will be revealed in its
Proper time and place, and we will be blessed
By the LORDS holy grace.
The changes will not be world wide, and will
Be done a little at a time.
The same as GOD made everything in six days
And on the seventh he rested
So will our faith be tested.
You had always said that there are three things
In life. HOPE, FAITH, AND LOVE.
And one cannot exist without the other two
This was taught to me by you.
You had shown me the power and strength
In HOPE, FAITH, AND LOVE
By your belief in GOD above.
You have made me who I am today
And I thank GOD every day.
Some may see the glass as half full
And some may see it as half empty
I see it as a life of plenty.
You was put here as my mother to teach.
And I was put here as your son to learn.
And in my mind your lessons did burn.
And when it’s time for me to go
In your heart you will know
That I was destined to roam these skies
And to touch the heart of man
In every way that I can.
She recalled the words that he had said to her.
Mother! Why do you worry so?
You have instilled in me FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE
In my heart- and in CHRIST I’ve become a big part.
As they brought the casket to his final resting place
Everyone stood in amazement and awe
To what they had just saw.
she pulled back her shoulders and with
A smile on her face, she nodded to the priest
To give the last rites.
She stood with pride as they lowered the casket
Into the ground.
She stood with pride without making a sound.
She knew he was where he was destined to be
As the beautiful spirit flying free.
Everyone felt a chill, and they all looked around.
For they all knew “ he was heaven bound”.

A Window Of Time 2
I looked
out of the window of time
where I once saw my mothers eyes
To my surprise
there she was again
She put her hand to the glass
She said put your hand to mine
I couldn't understand
how this could be
Then I realised
I was back as a child
She said son
your going to meet someone
She's going to change your life
She's going to have your child
Just like a lily flower
She's going to make you smile
Now as a man
I sometimes look out of the window and smile
I tell my daughter lily
of the time I saw a ghost
that looked just like her nan

Beginning In The Heart
Salvation begins in the heart first, despite how well you’re versed,
In the Eternal Word of God, you must answer with a heartfelt nod;
Before you confess with your lips, The Truth is what a heart grips,
For with your heart you’re justified, by The Lord, Who for us died.
With the mouth confession’s made, to Truth on a heart, that’s laid,
God’s Truth that can’t be ignored, that God raised Christ our Lord;
Although He died, in your stead, God raised Christ from the dead,
Though spiritually we are depraved, with confession we are saved.
When in our heart we truly believe, God’s Salvation we will receive,
Saved from His penalty for sin, through that finished work by Him,
The finished work of Jesus Christ, Who died to give us eternal life,
With His salvation you’re assured, sealed by the Spirit of The Lord,
Though we were a spiritual mess, The Lord’s Salvation we confess,
When God’s Spirit brings to light, God redeemed us from the night,
We confess as Lord, Christ Jesus, Who died and rose for all of us,
Now in His Salvation we rejoice, praising God, with heart and voice.
When in our Lord we now abide, His Salvation Truth we cannot hide,
Remembering that it is our duty too, to voice Truth to folks like you,
Men who have yet not believed, lest by Satan they will be deceived,
Instead you can confess Jesus Christ, and too, receive Eternal Life.

Sharing self
We talked as we walked
Each glance sharing a smile
Each touch filled with excitement
Passer/by's blushed at the sight
We were being natural
Getting to know who was who
We laid out no props
And made no stops
The day was very short
It was like I've known her for years
We swapped tears and fears
As I looked down at the ground
I assumed we were not earth bound
Hand-in-hand we flew up-ward
The sky grew a bright blue
As we entered
All that from just understanding
Nothing was demanding
Just a little talk
Just a little walk
And night never came...
Sharing self.

We Couldn't Stop Laughing
we hid out in my room
we ate candy
and we couldn’t stop laughing
we joked around
we told our stories
and we couldn’t stop laughing
we looked into the distance
we opened the window
and we couldn’t stop laughing
there was a UPS truck
i stuck my feet out the window
thinking it was a trash truck
and we couldn’t stop laughing
we looked at old yearbooks
we told “do you remember when” stories
and we couldn’t stop laughing
we laughed at each other
we laughed at ourselves
and we couldn’t stop laughing
we laughed at the past
at the present and future
so as friends,
we couldn’t stop laughing
Love Rekindled
I fondly remember when I first saw you-
It was at that Restaurant called West View.
Our parents had chosen the venue.
And as I looked over the menu,
You sauntered in much in style
Wearing a disarming smile.
In your clear gaze I saw an honest man,
And knew in a blink it was a divine plan.
In no time we were man and woman.
every moment felt like heaven.
Oh yes, we had our tiffs and fights,
But we made up by the night
In time children came,
Life after was not the same.
Tired when I slipped into the sheets,
You would tenderly message my cold feet.
Soon work took over our lives.
I was busy being a working mom and wife.
Before we knew children flew the nest,
And I was filled with unrest.
I wanted to reconnect,
But you were too busy on the internet.
Now there was no romance,
Had it slipped by chance?
Seeing the young celebrate Valentine,
I too coaxed you to take me out to dine.
We went to the same place,
Where we had met by God’s grace.
We laughed and talked,
And later hand in hand walked.
Night was chilly,
we felt young and silly.
I think that night,
Everything again felt right.
After long I felt light
And my heart soared like a kite.
Next day though you came home late,
You shyly asked will you come on a date.

Yellow and Rose
Oh boy, Botany Bay
Watching the water go by
Here's your home so far away
Here is a tear for your eye
Here is a vast and unknown land
Here are the strangers on the sand
Oh, seeds of the universe ever endeavor to grow
Tiny pieces of everything into the water they go
Everything changes for the strangers on the shore
They are blue and green no more
They are yellow and rose
Down under got the south side
This groovy crazy planet
Watching from the outside
It's as smooth as a gravy sandwich
People play music night for day
One caught the sun in a sekere
Seeds of the universe ever endeavor to grow
Tiny pieces of everything into the water they go
Everything changes for the strangers on the shore
They are blue and green no more
They are yellow and rose
Remember when we thought we were in California
We thought it was the eye of the hurricane
Old gypsy woman she tried to warn you
"You'll be back this way again
Hungry for the rain
It's written in your hand, plain"
Seeds of the universe ever endeavor to grow
Tiny pieces of everything into the water they go
Everything changes for the strangers on the shore

Who Are The Saints?
Just who are the Saints my friend, let The Word help you comprehend?
Are Saints a select religious few, selected by a tiny hand picked crew?
Are they made for worship by men, which by Christ will be condemned?
Or are they men like me and you, who have come into a life that’s new?
Call no one on earth Father Jesus said, it’s in Matthew haven’t you read?
For we have but one Father in Heaven, all else is simply religious leaven.
Men’s pious religious veneration, has nothing to do with true Salvation.
True Saints are humbled when, they realize they should be condemned.
All those who come to Christ in faith, are said by God to be His Saints.
Saints are the men set apart by God, while still upon this earth we trod.
We become a Saint when we believe, so please friend, don’t be deceived.
The Bible said that men would fall away, in the spiritual apostasy of today.
What about the Saints at Ephesus, should these men be respected less?
What about the Saints at Rome, the Pope or Vatican wasn’t even known?
Why not believe the words of Christ, if we’re serious about Eternal Life?
The Holy Spirit is the one who seals, all God’s living Saints who are real.
Our worship should go to only one; and that is God and His Only Son.
Just one mediator between God and man, this is easy to understand.
The mediator is Jesus Christ; for Christ is the One who gave His life.
He gave His life for me and you; Christ died so we could live life anew.
Because of His work on the cross, we enter God’s throne with boldness.
He now intercedes for the Saints, who pray to God through humble faith.
Soon Christ will call His Saints up, to return with Him in eternal triumph.
Then religious men in fear will faint, when they see Christ’s real Saints.

Not By Our Works
The work on the cross, by Christ, is how man enters eternal life,
His work was finished, He had said, as Christ died in our stead,
With none required on our part, before from the earth we depart,
As the work Christ did on Calvary, provides for us, life eternally.
Our only part is done by faith, as we accept God's gift of grace,
Sinfully depraved and undone, God sent, for man His Only Son,
Being eternally lost and depraved, only by Grace, we are saved,
For only He could pay that price, by sending a Perfect Sacrifice.
The price for salvation was paid, as man's sin on Christ was laid,
A price that no man could pay, so, Christ became The Only Way,
For every man, from every nation, to be saved, by His Salvation,
God's Salvation, that all receive, when by faith they truly believe.
When we're saved we fellowship, to praise God through worship,
We worship not to gain favor, but, because we know The Savior,
Receiving Christ, who died for us, we receive His Righteousness.
Righteousness gained through Him, not of works tainted with sin.
Works on our part are not required, or by Christ are they desired,
As God's desire is that we embrace, His Son, received by Grace,
Then after accepting Jesus Christ, live for Him in newness of life,
For our works do not save us, as that was done by Christ Jesus.
Disciples Commissioned
We’ve been sent on a mission, to fulfill the Great Commission,
It is to share God’s Revelation; of our Lord’s work of salvation,
God’s Truth, revealed in Christ, Truth that offers all Eternal Life,
A work, finished by Christ Jesus, with only faith required by us;
We’re sent to help others believe, so New Life they can receive.
God passed the witness to men, who, in Christ, are Born Again,
Starting with Apostles of Christ; those who lived during His life,
With a message of God’s Kingdom, citing near was God’s Son,
With His Message of Salvation, to Israel, God’s chosen Nation,
The Apostles the foundation alone, with Christ The Cornerstone.
They are the foundation for us, disciples today, of Christ Jesus,
Sent with Good News of Christ, who was for us God’s Sacrifice,
Paying for all men, sin’s penalty, so we could have life eternally,
We have God’s message to herald, now, to today’s entire world,
That Good News of Salvation, first to Israel then to every nation.
The Apostles for us, set the stage, as God for all turned a page,
Opening for all, this Age of Grace, still coming to Christ by faith,
Sent by God, this day and hour, in Christ’s Authority and Power,
To be Christ’s witness, to all men, that they must be Born Again,
To enter into Eternal Life, with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Misshaped Love.
You never talked about cowboys
or shootouts with Fay.
She was the girl
in the apartment above
who lived with her mum and dad
and younger brother.
You sat next to her
on the bus
your hands wanting to reach out
and touch hers.
You didn’t
but held them in check
like hounds ready
for the chase.
She was about your age
eleven or so
give or take a few months
and she had long blonde hair
which her mother
sometimes braided
sometimes not.
What do you do
in your spare time?
She asked.
Oh you know
play about
on the bombed out buildings
or bombsites
or go swimming
or play ball with friends
you said.
She nodded and looked away.
There was a bruise
on her neck
where her hair parted
and sometimes
when you put your hand
on her shoulder
she’d wince
and move away.
But not that day.
That day she let it stay
and even tapped
your hand with hers.
She turned around
and faced you
her eyes filled with tears
like flooded cities
the blue islands
of her pupils
seemingly swimming
against the tide.
We’re moving away
she said.
Where? You asked.
Somewhere far away.
Won’t see you anymore
she said.
The bus drew up
at your stop
and you got off
and the bus drove away
and you saw her hand
wave at the window.
You never saw her again
or heard how she did
in later years
or if her father still beat her
as Mother said he had.
Sometimes you still saw her
waving goodbye
in your dreams at night.
The bus going over the hill
and your heart pounding
with a misshaped
small boy love still.

God's Gospel Alone
When you add to God's Grace, you'll deny true saving faith,
The saving faith that we all need, as the Gospel we do heed,
As the Gospel Truth we believe, God's Salvation we receive,
Through the Grace of God alone, adding nothing of our own.
If you take away from the Truth, you shall see God's reproof,
Dismissing what God has done, through the work of His Son,
His work complete for all of us, through the Son Christ Jesus,
Completing for every nation, God's requirement for Salvation.
Jesus Christ is Judge over all, souls cursed from Adam's fall,
As all men, from every nation, fall under God's condemnation,
While sin separates everyone, from a Holy God on His Throne,
So apart from The Lord Jesus, judgment is ahead for all of us.
But, God so loved the world, The Truth men continue to herald,
Christ died for the sin of us all, to redeem us from Adam's fall,
Christ was buried, but rose again, to offer salvation to all men,
Seen was The Resurrected Christ, Who now offers Eternal Life.
Of His Gospel that you heard, do not take or add to His Word,
God and Creator of the universe, Lord and Savior of this earth,
Who finished all from Calvary, of the salvation for you and me,
This was our Savior Jesus Christ, in whom we have Eternal Life.
