The Ogre
The ogre has round beady eyes
Children beware do not stare
Or he'll gobble you up
quick as a flash
You must make haste and dash
The ogre is twenty feet high
When he walks with his head in the sky
He swallows all the aeroplanes that go by
The ogre is a menace
He eats up little children with names like Cyril or Dennis
CHILDREN BEWARE THE OGRE.

I don't know what would have been worse: If Mira had come home one day to say she was gay or an actress.

Pirouetting Autumn
The tree blushed - a rude blast of air
Betrayed a shapely bough.
My saddened heart aware
That Nature's clock was chiming,
I froze upon the twelfth
Clanging tone, caught alone,
Staring at a creaking door -
Left ajar for dancing, coloured Autumn,
Pirouetting in her leaves,
While agitated summer creatures
Backed away resignedly,
Sighing in protracted breves.
I turned; gave company;
We stood together, watching
Summer slowly blow away.

The Ogre Slam-The-Door
There is a certain castle that is beautiful and fair,
And plants, and birds, and pretty things, fill every room and hall,
But alas! for the unhappy folks who make their dwelling there,
A dreadful ogre haunts the house and tries to kill them all.
Some day I fear will find them dead and stretched out in their gore
The victims of this ogre grim, this wicked Slam-the-door!
He's a very tiny ogre just about as tall as you!
He never carries hidden arms, or plays with guns and knives.
And yet he almost splits the heads of people thro' and thro.'
And I think him very dangerous to comfort and to lives.
And he often shakes the castle from the ceiling to the floor.
This awful, awful ogre known as little Slam-the-door.
He gets up bright and early, and he's, oh, so wide awake!
And wo! to all the sleepy heads and invalids who doze,
They dream the sky is caving in, or that a vast earthquake
Has suddenly convulsed the world and ended their repose,
As to and fro, and up and down, still noisier than before,
They hear the hurrying, flurrying feet of ogre Slam-the-door.
Though the Princess of the Castle has a headache, and is ill,
Though the Prince is in his study and wants quiet for an hour,
This wicked little ogre won't be quiet-or keep still
I almost think he sometimes knows he has them in his power.
Alas, alas for all the folks, their sorrows I deplore-
The folks shut in that castle with the ogre Slam-the-door.

Ultimately, love conquers all, and gay or straight, don't we all want to believe that? I would that if this was to happen to me, and one of my kids had come and told me he or she was gay, I would say: If that's the only way you can live, then I love you.

The Spirit Of The Dance
The spirit of the dance
Always remember that life is but a dance
Be it in the rhythm of the song or
in the spirit of our Lord
So please always remember to
Dance like there is no tomorrow
Because someday you may not get the chance to dance
For someday you will dance in the spirit
for the great I am himself
so Always remember to dance.
Be it night or day.

Colours of Madness
In the yellow where the Tumparees live
There's a fellow keeps his dreams in a sieve
And washes his thoughts away
When the night breaks the heart of the day.
He rises when the Hopalees sleep
Gives prizes to the precious that weep
But it's grey to find so many sheep.
As the truth rings, like a bee stings
As the leech clings
Blood red
-Promise fled.
Nivek then cries in the black
In the wind you can hear old Emit's whip crack
As spirit white falls into abyss
All down to a Wumpalee's kiss.
Blue sea- what you've done
Riding the warmth of a parting sun
Green eyes told Nivek he had to run
The spider died but the web was spun
Naj is to blame, but what's in a name- your price
Emotions won't suffice.
At last all visitors were leaving
Darts in the heart
Equals- basket weaving
A mind that shone, unpolished and gone
Like the sunset red
And his lover's yellow flame-
Lame.

Shrek the Doorman
Twenty stone
six foot four
he's the bouncer
on the door.
Broken nose
tattooed neck
nicknamed Ogre
or Mr Shrek.
If your drunk
he'll chuck you out
and if your gobby
you'll get a clout.
He used to wrestle
used to box
weapon hidden
down his socks.
Dangerous man
is Mr Shrek
giant head
on massive neck.
So behave yourself
in the Ogre's place
or you may get knocked
into outer space!

In Her Autumn
without trembling,
without resistance,
in the autumn,
every autumn,
year after year,
a tree offers up its living adornment –
that which it has given birth to, nurtured,
and seen transform for the past six months.
and you can see the wisdom of her perfect surrender in her face,
the character lines
of seasons spent living,
giving to Nature,
drawn out across her bark.
And I know a Woman
whose face is deep with meaning,
radiating nature’s beauty,
simple, solid, stalwart.
She gives of her strength and solace
to anyone who approaches Her;
And in her Autumn,
Her dress will fall,
and she will surrender completely
to that which God wills, to that which must come to all.
