We started playing the Baltimore Colts early, and I was still very impressed with Johnny Unitas, who just passed away recently. I thought he was one of the best quarterbacks at the time when I was very young, he was in his prime.

Blaze Of Glory
Johnny was a young boy
With nothing much except a certain kind of look in his eye
He was discovered one day - you see he had a certain kind of appeal
For a certain kind of guy
Who gave him some advice on what to wear
And sent him out to make the young girls cry
And all the young boys whod just been dumb and restless
Now they could identify
So tell me wholl take the blame
For the way things turned out
Well six long months passed and johnny was the biggest thing alive
And we loved johnny and we owned johnny
And no one knew how johnny felt inside
And johnny was so beautiful, he was like a god
And we all went along for the ride
And the ride started to go too fast
And johnny just conveniently died
And he went up in flames
He did what he had to do
And they say its a tragic story
He just wasnt there one day
But he went out in a blaze of glory
And you and I - you and I just fade away
Well nowadays theres a lot of guys like johnny
They got it all worked out - like working 9 to 5
But theyre all just cartoons - all think theyre superman
But they cant even fly
And they say that johnnys ghost walks round in memphis
When the moon is full and high
And I wonder if he sees these jokers
And I wonder if he laughs or if he cries
Now hes an angel in flames
But what about you and me
And they say its a tragic story
He just wasnt there one day
But he went out in a blaze of glory
And you and I - you and I just fade away

Johnny B. Goode
Deep down in louisianna
Close to new orleans,
Way back up in the woods
Among the evergreens,
There stand a country cabin
Made of clay and wood,
Where lives a young country boy
Named johnny b.goode,
He never ever learned
To read or write a book so well,
But he could play his guitar
Just like a-ringing a bell.
Go go, go johnny go go go!
Go johnny go go go!
Go johnny go go go!
Go johnny go go go!
Aah johnny b.goode!
He used to carry his guitar
In a gunny sack,
Sit beneath the trees
By the railroad track.
Oh sitting and a-playing
In the shade,
Drumming to the rhythm
That the drivers made.
People passing by
Used to stop and say:
My oh my,
That country boy can play.
Go go, go johnny go go go!
Go johnny go go go!
Go johnny go go go!
Go johnny go go go!
Aah johnny b.goode!
Well his mama told him:
Someday you will be a man.
And you will be the leader
Of a big old band.
Many people coming
From miles around,
To hear you play your music
Till the sun goes down.
Maybe some day
Your name will be in light,
Saying: johnny
B. goode tonight!
Go go, go johnny go go go!
Go johnny go go go!
Go johnny go go go!
Go johnny go go go!
Aah johnny b.goode!

When I was Young
When I was young and in my prime
I knew everything there was to know
I truly thought that this was so
but I discovered in due time
My knowledge wasn’t worth a dime
It’s true that it was long ago.
When I was young and in my prime
I knew all that there was to know.
Experience combined with time
reduced the size of my ego
Although progress was rather slow.
Arrogance was my greatest crime
when I was young and in my prime.

Johnny Dont Do It
Johnny dont do it
Johnny dont do it
Johnny dont do it
Johnny dont do it
Johnny was an angel
An angel dressed in black
He used to hang around the guys
Down at the local track
He tried so hard to join them
But they always turned him back
Johnny dont do it
He was an angel
Johnny dont do it
Such an angel
He was only 17
Just got out of school
He stole a bike from joes garage
To prove that he was cool
He didnt know that the brakes were worn
And fate can be so cruel
Johnny dont do it
He was an angel
Johnny dont do it
Such an angel
Johnny dont do it
Johnny dont do it
Johnny dont do it
Johnny dont do it
Well johnny went a riding
With his girlfriend on the back seat
Looking for some action
And they found it down a back street
Suddenly a truck pulled out
He tried to step on the brake
Johnny dont do it (here is a news flash)
Johnny dont do it (today, johnny kowalski, also known as johnny
Angel)
Johnny dont do it (and his young fiance francine, were tragically
Killed)
Johnny dont do it (in a cycle accident)
Dont do it, dont do it (any witnesses please contact)
Dont do it, dont do it (the police at precinct 29)
Now johnnys with the angels
The angels in the sky
I wonder if he thinks of us
As he goes riding by
If only had listened
Oh the number of times we tried
To tell him
Johnny dont do it
He was an angel
Johnny dont do it
Such an angel
Johnny dont do it
He was an angel
Johnny dont do it
Such an angel
Johnny dont do it
Johnny dont do it
Johnny dont do it
Johnny dont do it

I've Been Watching You
Sweet confetti out looking for a saviour
Finding it hard to break the change
Nothing ventured nothing gained
Ice cream beauty acting on her best behaviour
Finding it hard to bite her tongue
Feeling so old as the night is young
Six foot leaning on a lizard chest
Two red dragons ironed on his vest
All that money you deserve the best
I'm impressed
I'm impressed
I'm impressed
What you've got isn't all that you've been given
Changing your body like you change your jeans
Nothing is ever as it seems
Something tells me it's a marriage made in heaven
Stealing your look from a magazine
Playing the part from a movie scene
Six foot leaning on a lizard chest
Two red dragons ironed on his vest
All that money you deserve the best
I'm impressed
I'm impressed
I'm impressed
Everyday is like your birthday
But the candles burning out, Don't you see, Don't you see
Six foot leaning on a lizard chest
Two red dragons ironed on his vest
All that money you deserve the best
I'm impressed
I'm impressed
I'm impressed

All Shes Got
This place reminds me of,
A time thats way too old.
These thoughts have gathered up the memories unfold.
But for now I dont see whats so wrong with pretending
Its true I thought you knew.
Believe her, its all shes got to pass the time
Believe her, its over now shes passed her prime.
Believe her, its all shes got to keep things right
Believe her its all shes got its all shes got.
Its all shes got, its all shes got.
These days keep getting worse Im wasting all my time.
I thought Id come in first, instead I fell behind.
I dont know, I dont know if I can keep this up to long.
It seems most every time my motives are all wrong
But for now I dont see whats so wrong with pretending
Its true I thought you knew.
Believe her, its all shes got to pass the time
Believe her, its over now shes passed her prime.
Believe her, its all shes got to keep things right
Believe her its all shes got its all shes got.
Its times like this, but times run out
Its times like this, but times run out
Its times like this, but times run out
Its times like this, I want to,
Believe her, its all shes got to pass the time
Believe her, its over now shes passed her prime.
Believe her, its all shes got to keep things right
Believe her its all shes got its all shes got.

There was nobody at the time who was playing slide guitar like Johnny, and nobody, or no white guys at least, that was playing country blues like that on the acoustic guitar. And it was at that point that I realized what Johnny had to offer.

Used to be that I could see a reason to be happy cause I was free
But then, recently it seems Ive been lettin your memry get to me
Used to be that I could pretend that I wasnt really hurt back then
But then, recently it seems Ive been lettin your memry get to me
Cause Memries can be friends or they can take you to a place
that you never thought youd be again
And take you to a place that you never ever thought that you would see again.
Memries can be friends or they can take you to a place
that you never thought youd be again
And take you to a place that you never ever thought that you would see again.
Doesnt matter now who was wrong
The future is tomorrow cause the past is gone
And Im Findin that Im not as strong as I thought that I used to be
Cause recently it seems Ive been let-tin your memry geet to me.

Me & Johnny
Lookin' back i'd say we broke a few rules
Left one or two hearts in a ruin
Spent all that precious time doin'
Things we figured that presley might have done
Stole a few cars, never got caught
Started some fights in the scrimmage
We got caught up in the image
Of playing young rebels by the handbook
Looking back i guess we had some attitude
We were gonna be hard and tough
Me & johnny
We're gonna play tonight
It's gonna be alright
We're gonna shine
Look in the mirror watch our faces change
We were gonna be mccartney clones
We skipped school to see the rolling stones
And sang their songs on the train on our way home
We were gonna be like all of them
Uncompromising to the very end
Live for girls, guitars and glory
And someday they'd write our story
Sometimes i think that they clapped in sympathy
But we were gonna be hard and tough
Me & johnny
We're gonna play tonight
It's gonna be alright
We're gonna have some fun tonight
Me & johnny
We may get blood on our face
We're gonna have our place
In the sun
Johnny's still living, back in australia
I hear he's got himself a wife and kids
And i'm still chasing whatever it is
That put me out here on the road in the first place
I think of times, that i cursed out loud
Wishin' i was still runnin' with the same old crowd
Sometimes it can make you cry
Just watching the years roll by
Me & johnny
We're gonna play tonight
It's gonna be alright
We're gonna have fun tonight
Me & johnny
We may get blood on our face
We're gonna have our place
In the sun

Momma shucks the corn

Lick & A Promise
Johnny come late on a saturday night
Singin how de do
Backstreet boogie in the house of delight
Where they steal the show
The money come sour but the ladies are sweet
Ad its a love affair
Whole place rockin, people stompin their feet
When the gangs all there
He gets his lovin every night for free
Hes out there rockin like you wouldnt believe
Singin na, na, na...
Johnny like to gamble with his lady louise
She was a black jack deuces are wild
He got to thinking bout his nose in the breeze
And johnny looked and he smiled
He started thinking bout the fortune and fame
And the young girls down at his knees
He dug the money but forgot all the names
So he knew just how to appease
(chorus)
Lick and a promise
Lick and a promise
Lick and a promise
(he gave the ladies a) lick and a promise
Loose change clover in his early, early years
Had his poor mama pacin the floors
He grabbed a guitar and a couple of beers
Now the crowd keeps screamin for more
(repeat chorus)

Orthodox
Love to whom, who really lover you,
But never hate who does with you so,
Kindle the revolution in the heart of you,
And remove the baseless tradition like a foe.
In a town, there lived a handsome boy,
There lived a girl too, full of coy,
Both were young having strong intention,
They would meet and did long time mention.
The time passed their love got its culmination,
Castes were different but had sinkie thought,
And wished to marry they had determination,
And life-partner in each other they'd sought.
Race was the single obstacle in their wedding way,
They eloped and married and enjoyed a marital life,
Cause they never dare to their families say,
Now they began living happily but with strife.
Both families got angery knowing this deed,
His father warned not to come back,
They would be killed if they paid on heed,
All seasons passed, they didn't come back.
He begot four children with the passage of time,
Now their children got their prime,
Passing twenty years, once he thought,
Their elopement likely they had forgot.
With his family he started for his home,
To see his father's home children were keen,
Cause they had been fed up living in single home,
Cause their grandparents they had never seen.
Reaching that town, it began to rain,
Children were wet like blossoming flowers,
Somehow he managed to reach the door again,
Door was knocked snackly like it showers.
The door being opened, emerged his mother,
Seeing them her joys knew no bound,
Kissed and hugged, and let them enter,
And home filled for sometimes with joyful sound.
The father saw them, became red and red,
And frightened mother her tears began to shed,
He roared, ' You've lost my dignity,
So, on you can never be taken pity.'
He pushed into his room, emerged in little time,
There was gun in his old hand,
Shot at all, like attacks a lion in his prime,
A moment passed, all six were lying dead on the land.
