The Washingtonian said it shouldn't be built. The gallery's East Building is now considered a triumph, and members of the American Association of Architects have voted it one of the best buildings of all time.

We Shouldn't Have

We shouldn’t have built this place
We shouldn’t have welcomed the lights
Of the city
But instead we built this place
Instead we welcomed the lights
Of the city, the city

We shouldn’t have built this place
We shouldn’t have figured that time
Was eternity
But instead we built this place
Instead we figured that time
Was eternity, eternity

We shouldn’t have built this place
We should have listened to our neighbors
When they told us to stop
But instead we built this place
We didn’t listen to them
When they told us to stop

We shouldn’t have built this place
We should have understood that the world
Was a luxury
But instead we built this place
We just couldn’t understand that the world
Was a luxury

I Shouldn't … but, I do.

I like the way you look at me,
Every time you look at me...
I shouldn't
But I do
I shouldn't
But I do.
I like the way you talk to me,
When you say the things you shouldn't be...
I shouldn't
But I do
I shouldn't
But I do.
I liked the feeling of your company,
When you'd carve out some time for me...
I shouldn't
But I do
I shouldn't
But I do.
I like the sound of your voice,
Pulling at me, like I have no choice,
I shouldn't
But I do
I shouldn't
But I do.
Thoughts of you are frequent for me,
Though, I try not to think of you.
I shouldn't
But I do
I shouldn't
But I do.
I can't help that I feel this way,
Believe me, it's much to my dismay,
There wasn't
But,
NOW
There is a
YOU...
If you only knew,
How much I try,
How often I fail..
When I try
To try
Not to think of
YOU.

Body Architects

i'm starting from scratch
i'm putting the pieces together
day by day.. one by one.. i'm the only one
my surroundings affect the structure.. of my state of mind
just when you think everything is fine
the foundation cracks... in a fraction of time
so look in the mirror.. it doesn't lie

we... we all forget
that we're the architects of the bodies we inhabit
we... we all forget
that we're the architects of the bodies we inhabit

i skipped the school of the learned for the... majority
but i figured it out the hard way.. my own way.. the only way
and it made me stronger... bigger than the rest
i'm the architect that knows my body best

we... we all forget
that we're the architects of the bodies we inhabit
we... we all forget
that we're the architects of the bodies we inhabit

we rock the party that rocks the body!!

we... we all forget
that we're the architects of the bodies we inhabit
we... we all forget
that we're the architects of the bodies we inhabit

Lilly Ledbetter

The Lilly Ledbetter act of equal pay for women doing the same work as a man that President Obama signed was fought by Paul Ryan who voted against it. C'mon ladies and gentlemen shouldn't a woman get equal pay for equal work? Just one more reason I could never ever vote for Mitt Romney as a Christian. 'women's equality activist Lilly Ledbetter blasted Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) for voting against the Fair Pay Act, which was named after her. 'Paul Ryan is very pleased with himself that he voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, ' she said. 'That's for families. That's voting against American families, and American families right to get what they're legally earning and entitled to under the law. And he's also going to do away with Medicare, Social Security.' Joe - Don't you want your mother, sister, wife getting fair pay?

His True Church

I know many religious people, and one Church with no steeple,
A church that’s built with no walls, built on only believing souls,
Built upon an Eternal Foundation, that being our very Salvation,
Built upon The One Cornerstone, and that is Jesus Christ alone.

Many, who worship in a building, to Truth alone, are unyielding,
Building a church on tradition, God’s Truth, with man’s addition,
Added to the work finished by, Jesus Christ who reigns on high,
Ignoring His words “it is finished”, Grace by many is diminished.

Men making a way to Heaven, not by grace but religious leaven,
Building church in a human way, as they lead many souls astray,
As many souls weekly perch, in the pews of a manmade church,
Relying on their religious activity, to help them work into eternity.

“I will build my Church” He said, that was Christ, who is the Head,
Head of His True Church on earth, filled with souls, by New Birth,
All members being Born Again, into His Church, not one of men,
You’ll find, you no longer search, as a member of God’s Church.

Jesus is the Way, Truth and Life, as Head of the Church of Christ,
And each of us is a living stone, built through faith in Christ alone,
His Church He proceeds to build, to complete as His Father willed,
Leading the only True Church friend, as others shall see in the end.

A Snippet

I looked across the asparagas at my adversary. That, in this town, is what you call the person sitting across from you at a dinner party, whether you've met them before or not. Unless, of course, a romantic interest supervenes.

He was chattering to the lady on his left, who was bending his way and listening as if spell-bound. A scotoma of candle flame interrupted a view of his face.

'I think immigration represents a brain-drain for the mother country, ' he said, roundly.

Amazing and very clever. Put that way, it seemed less an affront to cherished liberal, American values. Speaking only for myself, I do not feel people should air their extremist views at dinner parties. It bodes ill for digestion.

'Why, ' he continued, unflappably, 'should the brightest and most energetic be encouraged to emigrate? And the prisoners and gang-members? Shouldn't they stay home and help build their societies for the betterment of their people, create a stable middle class and not flood the labor market here? Or receive their due? Must everything be about money? Must ideology always triumph over reason? Must opportunity always imply 'elsewhere? ' Can't it be created elsewhere? And, as for AIDS, can't we just export the meds? '

Blasphemy! Annoyed by this sort of illogical 'back door' conservatism, I said, leaning forward,

'You must be a Republican.'

'I voted for Obama, ' he said, curtly. 'And even if I were, do you guage the validity of an idea by the political party of its advocate? '

This I found evasive in the extreme.

'Stick to the point, ' I said.

At that moment the soup arrived...

On The Front Line

I am a fireman here at home
And I put my life on the front line everyday
To save the people from burning buildings
Or from car accidents
Someday I am very lucky because I am able to save people from burning
Buildings and car accidents
But other days I am not so lucky because it depends where the fire is on The building
Sometimes I have to climb all the way to the top of the buildings
Very fast to save the people from the burning buildings here at home
Other times the fire on the buildings happened on the lower floor
Yes there had been times that I could not save the people from the
Buildings here at home because the buildings here at home had been Engulfed with smoke and all the people that live there died
Yes that was a very bad scene to see
At the end of the night I go home for my kids and my wife
When I arrive home my kids and my wife are already sleeping in bed
I don't have very much time to spend with my children
Because of my work
I don't enjoy being a fireman but the pay is good
So I don't have anything to complain about
I never talk about my work at home
At home I talk about different things to my wife and kids
But I know that my day starts very early everyday

Why Do I Feel So Sad?

Friends we've been for so long
Now true colors are showing
Makes me wanna cry oh yes it does
Cuz I had to say goodbye

By now I should know
That in time things would change
So it shouldn't be so bad
So why do I feel so sad

How can I adjust
To the way that things are going
It's killing me slowly
Oh I just want it to be how it used to be

Cuz I wish that I could stay
But in time things must change
So it shouldn't be so bad
So why do I feel so sad

You cannot hide the way you feel inside I realize
Your actions speak much louder than words
So tell me why oh

By now I should know that
That in time things would change
So it shouldn't be it shouldn't be so bad
So why do I feel so sad

By now I should know
That in time things must change
So it shouldn't be so bad
So why do I feel so sad

By now by now I should know
That in time things must grow
And I had to leave you behind
So why do I feel so sad
If it couldn't be that bad
Tell me why

By now I should know
That in time things would change
So it shouldn't be so bad
So why do I feel so sad
