They're not even within 100 miles of Baghdad. They are not in any place. They hold no place in Iraq. This is an illusion... they are trying to sell to the others an illusion.

A plane is a bad place for an all-out sleep, but a good place to begin rest and recovery from the trip to the faraway places you've been, a decompression chamber between Here and There. Though a plane is not the ideal place really to think, to reassess or reevaluate things, it is a great place to have the illusion of doing so, and often the illusion will suffice.

Grand Illusion
I saw you in a dream, it hit me like a bright light
Flashing on a screen, visions of my whole life.
I used to chase the moment of desire
Back to when my young heart burned like a fire.
It was just a, nothing but a grand illusion.
Heart was quicker than the eye.
Nothing but a grand illusion,
Legend in my own mind.
I held you in my arms till the other side of midnight.
Kept you in my mind, you got me through some long nights.
Standing on the threshold of desire,
Caught between the madness and the fire.
Chorus
It was all a grand illusion.
Hand was quicker than the eye.
Nothing but a grand illusion,
Legends in our own minds.
I used to chase the moments of desire
Back to when my young heart burned like a fire.
It was just a, nothing but a, it was all a grand illusion.
Nothing but a grand illusion.
It was all a grand illusion,
Legend in my own mind.
It was just a grand illusion.
Nothing but a grand illusion.
It was just a grand illusion,
Legend in our own mind.

Religion And Magic
Who are these fellows?
Religion - Magic
Are they siblings who seem remarkably similar?
Are they identical twins - fantastically alike in all things?
Are they but two sides of the same coin - the coin of illusion?
Which came first - religion or magic?
The answer remains shrouded in the dim mists
Of our early steps on the stage of our existence
Magic - creator of illusion masked as reality
Religion - creator of illusion from reality
Both create illusion - purvey the same mask
Magic and religion present illusion as truth
This is my view
Another may be for you
Yet know this - If you believe illusion be truth or truth illusion
The result is the same.

Really Really
You have the power
take on rule and show
what you want
what you really really want
is it me
or is it an illusion?
You have the game
take on role and play
what you desire
what you really really desire
am I there
or am I just an illusion?
You have the frame
take on reel and dream
what you imagine
what you really really imagine
am I there
or am I just an illusion?
You have the goal
take on real and action
what you hunt
what you really really hunt
is it me
or is it an illusion?

Illusion
How do I begin and where do I end
who will be the one whom I can depend.
I fool myself, an illusion I see
Thinking that he'll be there for me.
But when at night I lay in bed
I reach out for him and nothing I get...
It's only an illusion that comes my way
Will I be ever lucky someday.
To have him, feel him and call him mine
I will then finally draw a line.
No more illusion then I will see
if this turns out into reality.

Love's illusion
You are a dream illusion of my reality,
You are the illusion of my dreams,
You are an illusion.
I try to live in dreams,
You see,
Dreams are my reality,
But don't be worried, my love,
They will disappear
Like bubbles
In the air,
Without leaving
Any trace in my memory.
They can form the illusion
Of the ideal perfect love,
More fragile
Than anything I know.

Seven Wonders
When shadows fall, hell close his eyes
To hear the clocks unwind
Powerless to leash the hands of time
Kindoms fall, the earth revolves
The rain will come this spring
And nothing he could say would change a thing
Seven wonders crowed the man
Knowing six are gone
And how the great illusion lingers on
He cant enfold, the sun or moon
Or wind within his hand
But count the times hell shout the great I am
With all the while, a pontiff smile
Veiling his disgrace
At never owning more than second place
Seven wonders crowed the man
Knowing six are gone
And how the great illusion lingers on
[instrumental]
Seven wonders crowed the man
Knowing six are gone
And how the great illusion lingers
While the sad confusion lingers
All the while illusion lingers on

Illusion
In a forest known as heartbreak
In a clearing in the wood
cross a pathway called confusion
Toward the garden of delight
Youll reach the river of desire
And meekly try and cross it
While the valley of love
Keeps avoiding you
Because its only an illusion
Only an illusion
Upon the hill of high ideals
You begin to wonder if its real
You are reaching sleeps oasis
You begin to wonder how you feel
But it happens so quickly
It doesnt fit into your scenes
Tossin and turnin
The star of so many scenes
Its only an illusion
Its only an illusion

Lovely Illusions
Confidence, …‘shrinks’ tell us
is only an illusion
Reflecting only, the facts and feeling
At, and of, a particular time
Sounds a lot like the illusion of love, to me
Akin to the mental images
we conjure up in our minds,
and ascribe to a state so sublime
Whether tis fact or illusion,
I shall avoid the confusion
By having complete confidence
and seeking seclusion
In my lovely, misty world,
so unreal yet appealing
My sphere of fictitious fact and feeling
Of beguiling illusion and rhyme

The Illusion Of Power
What is it that turns you on to the illusion of power,
This thing that grabs you by the heart and makes you want to tear things down.
There is no reason why I should need all this power, but if you cross me now,
Im gonna tear your whole world down.
The illusion of power, things I feel, seem so real,
The illusion of power.
I cant get the emotional thing straight in my head,
Everything I love dies too soon, or is already dead.
Dont stand too close I spit and breathe fire,
Anything Ive got now you cannot desire.
You want to be my friend, I promise you nothing.
Nothing I can give you, nothing I can do for you,
Im being chased by the sins of my past and its killing me now,
Killing me now.
The illusion of power, things I feel, seem so real,
The illusion of power.
The illusion of power, its already set signed and sealed,
The illusion of power.
Fool, youre caught in a complex catacomb of your own inadequcies and pitiful weaknesses,
Your soul secretes insecurity.
So you live on the reflection side of the mirror; youre terrified of true power.
You fear
I can tell you stories of my
Shaded past and I can drag you down into the depths of my soul.
The illusion of power, things I feel, seem so real,
The illusion of power.
The illusion of power, its already set signed and sealed,
The illusion of power.
Why dont you come closer, promise a story I will tell, yeah,
Ill save you from your dreams, yeah
Ill save you from your dreams.

Hostage's Illusion
Help!
Being held hostage
by Reality
call the Illusion Police
who can come to stage
my imaginary release
whereby I can triumphantly
return to Reality
where my bonds
have been illusioned away
by a Reality
which provides me
a different kind of Illusion
such that I can have
my free choice
between the two;
and which is which
between I and you.
Suddenly you touch me
and I am confused
and retreat to my
preferred
illusion;
an add-on.

Baghdad
In your plane in the blue sky
You roam around
Worlds that echo in your mind
Make your heart beat faster
'This is no Vietnam
We will win in Iraq'
The president said, 'Let it ride'
Islam be damned
Make your last stand
In Baghdad
Warrior, the time bomb's about to go
What will you feel
Will you even wonder
If the man that's in your sights
Ever kissed his girlfriend good-bye
The Captain said, 'Kill or die'
Islam be damned
Make your last stand
In Baghdad
Great satan, our flags are burning
Now America has found its young men
In the sand
Where their casualty
Is just another number
In Iraq
The president said, 'Let it ride'
You will be damned
Make your last stand
In Baghdad

The Decline of Truth
The smoldering embers of a tree
Once shinning the life of men
Remind the story of the sad illusion
That was to be the decline of truth.
Taken by the fire of madness
Stoked by the anger within,
The clear ponds reflected the brave knight
The hero of truth
The bringer of illusion.
Stricken by the light of darkness
The sky is forever in chaos
As the light that once gave it color
Was devoured by the demon of madness.
The leaves that flew in the winds
Now rest by the embers reflecting illusion
And the smoldering heat of truth
Became apparent as the hero trapped in illusion
Sauntered beneath the chaos sky
And as the demon devoured illusion
The truth became apparent
And the hero that never was,
Defeated by truth
Faded to the embers of sad illusion
And added to the decline of truth.

Cant You See
Written by dan peek, 1976
Found on hideaway and highway.
Alone, sitting here on my own
Theres no place Id rather be
Or so it seems
Home, miles away from home
And theres no place Id rather be
Cant you see?
You hold your life in your hands
And no one takes from a man
Who gives the best that he can
To make someone understand
Ive flown miles away from home
And theres no place Id rather be
Cant you see?
You hold your life in your hands
And no one takes from a man
Who gives the best that he can
To make someone understand
Home, miles away from home
And theres no place Id rather be
Cant you see, cant you see, cant you see?
Cant you see, cant you see, cant you see?
Cant you see, cant you see, cant you see?

Winter Fantasy
We build cathedrals
When the illusion disappears
When we are cold in bed
Under covers that cover
Little
Or too much
We scratch our guitars
Hoping they'll be tickled
Yet tight cords hardly could
Cover
The mist, we walk to meet
When the illusion within us
Disappears
An October morning
Full of rust and leaves
Full of echoeing space
We write and never send
For to receive takes the illusion
Of sending
Away
When we write for no one to read
But to say what has to be said
Loudly, within the internal silence
Of the cathedrals we build
When love is still there
When love has no place
To find respite
From itself
On misty October mornings
Full of rusty leaves
Whirling on our balcony
Like the dance you like
To dance
Each time
Before you leave…
