Invitation
You are invited cordially
To read my poem
Read and reread again
And again and again
With undiminish interest.
I invite you to read my poem
And search out yourself
Where you are missing
And find you out in it
You please read my poem
And see in it how you
Manage yourself to stay
And how you are making
Preparation to go finally.
I invite you to read my poem
And I invite you cordially.

Y.. A Firm Yes
In a wonderful cartoon, i had the pleasure to read:
A lonely person stood on the corner of the street
He was pulled to one side by a good hearted soul
He was pulled to another side by a good hearted soul
Each wanted to invite him for dinner, a good deed
Could it ever be, that there is a lack of lonely people in the world?
Will it ever happen that more people want to invite lonely people
than there are lonely people?
I 'd answer with a firm YES
'cause we are living in a spiritual world
and more spiritual it becomes!

I think most people read and re-read the things that they have liked. That's certainly true in my case. I re-read Pound a great deal, I re-read Williams, I re-read Thomas, I re-read the people whom I cam to love when I was at what you might call a formative stage.

For You To Invite Me To Read You
i agree with what
the other guy on the other side
of the world
once wrote, that for you
to invite me
into your mind to read
what you have
been thinking and
writing all along
is an insult to your capacity
to attract people that if
(by God's will)
you die even your rotten
ass
cannot even attract
a female fly.

You And This War
You are part of this war. You
pay taxes. You are not part of this
war. No one in charge cares what
you think. You are part of this
war. You go to work each day
and remain quiet on the subject.
You pave the path of least
resistance. You are not part of this
war. You watch images of it and
read words about it from a great
distance. You are part of this war.
You are one 200 millionths of this
nation. You are not part of this
war. You do not fight in it or
fight to stop it. You are
part of this war.

People Who Read People Magazin
(Kinky Friedman)
Well, I'm here to say I got turned away from Studio 54
Back to neon lights and lonely nights and saw-dust on the floor
And if she ever loved me, she don't love me anymore,
And if anyone should ask me, here's who I'm singing for:
For the people who read People Magazine,
For the soap opera lovers, for the home-town bowling team,
For everybody everywhere who's ever lost a dream,
For the people who read people who read People Magazine.
Now if you're too New York for Texas, too Texas for L.A.
You been chasing trends like rainbow ends but you're always just a song away
And if the White House wouldn't have ya, play in every little honky-tonk and bar
The good Lord made the Heavens, ah but He never made a star.
No, its the people who read People Magazine,
It's the soap opera lovers, its the home-town bowling team,
It's everybody everywhere who's ever lost a dream,
For the people who read people who read People Magazine.
And to tell you the truth this telephone booth gets lonesome in the rain,
But son, I'm 21 in Nashville and I'm 43 in Maine.
And when your mama gets home, would you tell her I phoned, it'd take a life-time to explain
That I'm a country-picker with a bumper-sticker that says: ?God Bless John Wayne?.
And bless the people who read People Magazine,
Bless the soap opera lovers, bless the home-town bowling team,
Bless everybody everywhere who's ever lost a dream,
For the people who read people who read People Magazine.
Bless the people who read people who read People Magazine.

Will grandma Mickey’s hair still be white, when we are in heaven?
My youngest son asked me this as we were
laying around arguing whether I was going to read more than one book or not…
will grandma Mickey’s hair still be white, when we are in heaven?
why do six year olds think about life and death?
why do they not seem afraid
and see it as a natural part of living life
we fear death,
we avoid hospitals, when friends are ill
and when we do go there it is quick to help speed the recovery
of the ill and get out as quick as you can
when people are ill we don’t see them as much,
they understand no one wants to be around seriously ill people
and don’t invite themselves to events they know
will cause others grief
will grandma Mickey’s hair still be white, when we are in heaven?
shows an understanding that she will be in a form that we will recognize
and still be our grandmother
and white signifies pureness, in every circumstance
except as related to hair
will grandma Mickey’s hair still be white, when we are in heaven?
is a question best answered by saying
what color would you want her hair to be
and hope he answers
whatever color she would want

Like everybody at that age, I read an awful lot of pulp fiction. But at the same time, I also read quite a bit of history and read that as much for pleasure as part of a curriculum.
cn U rd ths? Its nt gd nws...
The National Literacy Trust in Britain
did a survey and
- yes, you guessed -
57% read 'only a bit' or not at all
and 25% of the older ones said
they had no intention to
read any more than this
So what do they read when
they read?
Well, mags,
and websites
and txt msgs of course
and jokes,
and TV books and mags
and e-mails
and eighth on the list comes fiction
that's made-up stories, right?
right
then comix ninth
then newspapers well
they're just for people
who don't have TV and
don't mind waiting 12 hours
to read the news put that tenth
what's that? poetry?
sorry would you spell that
oh poetry nah
girls said, they read
to find out how other people live
and feel and
to help them understand
more about themselves
boys said, they read
because they have to and
because it helps them
get a job so
some old farts might say
put up a sign
civilisation's postponed until further notice
but it may all work out
well it'll have to

Unleash It From Its Cage
That variety of life that you are,
Unleash it from its cage.
Those expectations unsatisfied,
By restricting limits!
Why do people invite...
A lesser appetite of life.
The abundance that Mother Nature has shown,
To be known as a given.
Is under utilized.
Why do those prefer to hide...
Following with a focused-ness,
Fixed upon another's...
Footsteps,
That may or may not appear to glide.
From shadows come out,
To be whoever you are.
If you've decided to shine in light...
Why are you still in rehearsal?
Pacing back and forth as if...
You are afraid of the audience.
They have no clue,
As to which lines learned belong to you.
That variety of life that you are,
Unleash it from its cage.
Turn and read a new chapter.
Those you have already read...
Need not your current routine to relive them.

Another Day
Some invite me to their houses
But I cannot go there as I have other plans.
I just say, 'Another day, I shall make it'.
That day never comes.
They invite me again
But I cannot go there still, my plans are being worked out
I just repeat, ' Another day, believe me'.
They smile- They know it.
They look at me
As if to enquire whether I would make it this time.
But I am what I was and how shall I go?
They go away still smiling.
I at last realise and tell it aloud
I won`t go anywhere whoever may invite me.
I have made a big SHELL for all.
And am waiting to withdraw myself into it for ever.
I will take everyone into my SHELL which has a big mouth
I won`t let you tell, 'another day and another day'.
I will drag you all into it for ever, it`s certain.
My SHELL will swallow you all on a day.

Read My Lips
(rock it!)
Ive got something you got nothing to lose
I could give you so much more than youre used to
Move a little closer, maybe we can slip away
Right now we could use a little privacy
All too much attention from your friends in here
Move a little closer,
Trust me - Im not on the make, thats a lie!
If I can pull you over, cmon lady what dyou say
Get a grip, dont resist, read my lips
Its a trip, aint a risk, read my lips
Get a grip, dont resist, read my...
(lips)
-
Part of you wanna get lucky
Part of you wanna go trade
Part of you wanna go looking
Part of you want to stay.....
(rock it!)
(chorus)
Shes all mine...
Shes all mine...
Shes all mine...
Shes all mine...
Shes all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine... (a-ha)
Shes all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine...
-
(I love you)

Sonnet- The World's Like This!
None of my people want to read my stuff;
None of my people want to share my love;
None of my people see my heart ain't rough;
None of my people seek my 'treasure-trove',
How much I yearn that they should read my rhyme!
How much I long that they should share my thought!
How much I want that they should spend some time,
To think of God and improve their soul's lot.
Oh, how I wish that they read what I writ!
Oh, how I wish they love Nature like me!
Oh, how I wish they see God bit by bit!
Oh, how I wish they get Eternity;
My Poesy can heal the wounds of heart,
In better ways than any drug or art.

Unprodigal Daughter
I had disengaged to avoid being totaled
I would run away and say good riddance, soon enough
I had grown disgusted by your small-minded ceiling
Imagine myself bolting had not been difficult
Soon be my life
Soon be my pace
Soon be my choice of which youll have no part of
Unprodigal daughter and Im heading for the west
Disenchanted daughter and this plane cannot fly fast enough
Unencumbered daughter hit the ground running at last
Id invite you but Im busy being unoppressed
I hit the ground running, although I know not what toward
I hit the town feeling, forgetting all that came before
I felt primed and ready, once surrounded by the pawns
I felt culture shocked, but dissuaded, I was not
This is my town
This is my voice
This is my taste of which youve have no part of
Unprodigal daughter and Im heading for the west
Disenchanted daughter and this plane cannot fly fast enough
Unencumbered daughter hit the ground running at last
Id invite you but Im busy being unoppressed
One day Ill saddle back and speak of foreign adventures
One day Ill double back and tell you about these unfettered years
One day Ill look back and feel something other than relieved
Glad that I left when I did before, I know you, you cant get the best of me
When Id speak of artistry you would roll your eyes skyward
When Id speak of spirituality you would label it absurd
When I spoke of possibility you would frown and shake your head
If I had stayed much longer, Id have surely imploded
These are my words
This is my house
These are my friends of which youve had no part
Unprodigal daughter and Im heading for the west
Disenchanted daughter and this plane cannot fly fast enough
Unencumbered daughter hit the ground running at last
Id invite you but Im busy being unoppressed
Unprodigal daughter and Im heading for the west
Disenchanted daughter and this plane cannot fly fast enough
Unencumbered daughter hit the ground running at last
Id invite you but Im busy being unoppressed

Those Words
What made you think about that, don’t ruin your life
You need to focus on the things always changing
Always moving
Banished to the back of my mind,
Best philosophy I’ve heard in my life
Those words are part
Of a book I’ve never read
A song I’ve never sung
A dream I’ve never dreamed
Part of a cloud I’ve never been to
Sailin’ on cloud nine
And I wish, I wish it was mine
There’s a girl
Miss Original Girl
She turns gray into silver
I don’t know why you can hate her
She doesn’t realize what it must be like to be me
Take her away from the best things that I am dreaming
About
But I guess those words are part
Of a book I’ve never read
A song I’ve never sung
A dream I’ve never dreamed
Part of that cloud I’ve never been to
Sailin’ on cloud nine
And I wish, I wish it was mine
I wish it was forever mine
The best day on my lips tastes like candy
When you taste it it’s a whole different story
People don’t live like this, they
Don’t all sound the same
No one’s ever worried about my hiding, where I might be
And I’m wishing
Still wishing
Still dreaming but
I have hoped, I have failed
I have dreamed, I have fallen
I have wished, I have retreated
I have tried, I have collided
I have done it, I have succeeded
But I still know through this fog
I know those words are part
Of a book I’ve never read
Never even looked at
A song I’ve never sung for you
A dream I’ve never dreamed
At least in this lifetime
Part of that same cloud I’ve never been to
Ever in my life
Now I’m sailin’ on cloud nine
And I think back to the time
When I wished, I wished, I dreamed that it was mine
And now it is forever mine
Wing Pages Of The Butterfly
at the nursery
while people
are at purchase
and at transactions
a blue butterfly
comes by
and opens its pages to me
swift and quick
and it says to me:
'Read! Read!
Read my pages! '
'I can’t read, '
I say,
amused
at this brash butterfly
'Read and write!
Read and write
about me,
and all flitting butterflies
Read
and write, you silly! '
it commands
And so I read
and I copy
and these are the words
the words from those
pages
the butterfly
holds up to me

To Read And Read Again
TO READ AND READ AGAIN
To read and to read again
And to be left empty
By the abundance of words
Whose meanings multiplication
Erases all sense
Of their coherence
And our understanding.
To read and read again
As if in this pretence of learning
Salvation will come
To read and read again
And be forever dumb.

Destination
This was like aspeech read on your behalf,
But the people around are like sheep without a shepherd;
And the first ever kiss you had in life is still in your mind.
Destination,
With heavy rainfall on the ice like your slippery love;
But the red column was part of your life.
I marvelled because of their unbelief,
And you marvelled because of my strength!
But this was like the speech read on your behalf.
