Destination
This was like aspeech read on your behalf,
But the people around are like sheep without a shepherd;
And the first ever kiss you had in life is still in your mind.
Destination,
With heavy rainfall on the ice like your slippery love;
But the red column was part of your life.
I marvelled because of their unbelief,
And you marvelled because of my strength!
But this was like the speech read on your behalf.

A Little Wine
No longer drink water but,
Drink a little wine for your stomach's sake;
I write so that you may know.
Don't be a novice,
You shall not steal;
I write so that you may learn.
On behalf of the Kings,
On behalf of the Queens,
On behalf of all who are in authority;
We brought nothing into this world and,
We will carry nothing out of it.

Near Though Far
Oh, my dear song-birds!
With melodic music of love,
Please vibrate her treasure-heart
Delicately and kindly
On behalf of me.
Oh, my dear breeze tender!
With flowers' balmy aroma,
Please caress her pink cheeks to shimmer
Softly and warmly
On behalf of me.
Oh, my dear a cup of tea!
With delicious taste after meal,
Please feel her rosy lips sweaty
Eagerly and charmingly
On behalf of me.
Oh, my dear water-drops clean!
With harmony touch enchanting,
Please embrace her cute skin
Assortedly and fascinatingly
On behalf of me.
Oh, my beloved!
Though we're far in distance,
Don't be afraid and depressed.
They'll make you vigilant.
When they try you to dab,
Just allow them as my agents.

cn U rd ths? Its nt gd nws...
The National Literacy Trust in Britain
did a survey and
- yes, you guessed -
57% read 'only a bit' or not at all
and 25% of the older ones said
they had no intention to
read any more than this
So what do they read when
they read?
Well, mags,
and websites
and txt msgs of course
and jokes,
and TV books and mags
and e-mails
and eighth on the list comes fiction
that's made-up stories, right?
right
then comix ninth
then newspapers well
they're just for people
who don't have TV and
don't mind waiting 12 hours
to read the news put that tenth
what's that? poetry?
sorry would you spell that
oh poetry nah
girls said, they read
to find out how other people live
and feel and
to help them understand
more about themselves
boys said, they read
because they have to and
because it helps them
get a job so
some old farts might say
put up a sign
civilisation's postponed until further notice
but it may all work out
well it'll have to

Thumbnails and finger ends
A book of learned scholarship,
open in my hands, at the first page…
and then I saw, to the right of it,
my thumb nail…and marvelled –
at its perfection, at its beauty,
and at my own ignorance –
which strangely, was all part
of that same beauteous perfection…
the thumbnail: curved, as a hollowed claw,
the curve I knew would give it added strength;
sitting as secure as any child of love,
within the folded mystery of skin and flesh;
three-coloured: pale rising moon
emerging from its secret nail-bed
as some goddess might appear;
then the subtle shades of rosy pink,
hinting at blood serving readily
the nail’s demands;
finally, the top (long, shaped, as best to gouge
potato’s eyes, and other kitchen tasks…) :
I looked at it, and marvelled:
the whole creation, conspiring to present
this perfect thing…
Fifty years and more ago, I wrote,
in those years when I despaired
of making sense of so-called ‘adult’ world,
sitting at the desk, to find myself
before setting off to earn my daily bread,
I wrote – in lines that never quite linked up
their visioned moments into complete poems,
on white and yearning pages like a life unwrit:
‘we know not our own finger ends…’
The wrinkled thumb and finger – they have lasted;
the holy mystery - praise God - remains.

Sonnet XXIII: Is It Indeed So?
Is it indeed so? If I lay here dead,
Wouldst thou miss any life in losing mine?
And would the sun for thee more coldly shine
Because of grave-damps falling round my head?
I marvelled, my Belovèd, when I read
Thy thought so in the letter. I am thine--
But...so much to thee? Can I pour your wine
While my hands tremble? Then my soul, instead
Of dreams of death, resumes life's lower range.
Then, love me, Love! Look on me--breathe on me!
As brighter ladies do not count it strange,
For love, to give up acres and degree,
I yield the grave for thy sake, and exchange
My near sweet view of Heaven, for earth with thee!

I think most people read and re-read the things that they have liked. That's certainly true in my case. I re-read Pound a great deal, I re-read Williams, I re-read Thomas, I re-read the people whom I cam to love when I was at what you might call a formative stage.

Lament on a sweetheart
When I was young and sure of myself
and almost still a greenhorn,
you were already meant for me
and when I came back from the thundering of war
I marvelled about my chances with you,
and got you
as the girlfriend of girlfriends.
.
That time was filled
with almost a life time’s happiness
that was pressed into moments
and your glittering eyes,
the softness of your lips
left me breathless
and with a new beat
my heart was knocking
so if you had become
a part of my being
and could read every though of mine
and comprehended me better
than I myself.
Through university classes I covertly watched you
and my thoughts were only with you
as if nothing else really mattered
and your enchantment
really hit me to the core.
It was if your smile
could even drive away
the grey of a Cape winter
and I started to write verses to you,
gave flowers and gifts
and when you adored me
it was far past special
and utterly naive I believed
that nothing could come between us,
as if love has an own fortress
as an entrenchment.
Now it’s years later
and sometimes when I sleep
I dream that you
are embracing me
and I know
that some flames never die
and I wonder when
I will have a chance with you again
and I am trying to shatter destiny,
to build a life with shoelaces
and like a giant
to stand against life’s thundering blows.

Lived In a Way That I Like
I am tired of providing someone else,
Entertainment.
Or become the subject of someone else's convenience.
There are those who react as if appalled...
If the hands on a clock does not stop for them!
And I am not loaning any tick tocking done in my behalf,
To anyone to prove a thing.
I've played both roles in a yesterday that has gone.
You know...
The Master of Ceremony with touches of comedy,
For someone momentarily bent out of shape.
And even though some may fine my lack of interest,
Offensive.
I've learned to walk away from that kind of mind play.
This is 'my' life!
And it will be lived in a way that I like!
Or...
Moved in a direction made without hesitation.
I am not loaning any tick tocking done in my behalf,
To anyone to prove a thing.
When lessons are learned it is best to use them.

Them Heavy People
Rolling the ball, rolling the ball, rolling the ball to me.
Rolling the ball, rolling the ball, rolling the ball to me.
They arrived at an inconvenient time.
I was hiding in a room in my mind.
They made me look at myself. I saw it well.
Id shut the people out of my life.
So now I take the opportunities:
Wonderful teachers ready to teach me.
I must work on my mind. for now I realise:
Everyone of us has a heaven inside.
Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot.
Them heavy people help me.
Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot.
Rolling the ball, rolling the ball, rolling the ball to me.
They open doorways that I thought were shut for good.
They read me gurdjieff and jesu.
They build up my body, break me emotionally.
Its nearly killing me, but what a lovely feeling!
I love the whirling of the dervishes.
I love the beauty of rare innocence.
You dont need no crystal ball,
Dont fall for a magic wand.
We humans got it all, we perform the miracles.
Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot.
Them heavy people help me.
Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot.
Rolling the ball, rolling the ball, rolling the ball to me.
Rolling the ball, rolling the ball, rolling the ball to me.
Rolling the ball, rolling the ball...

Snow Man
Who brought about the snow man?
Is it in your Bible? ! !
Then look around again and see where the animals go to when it is cold;
For, when the snow falls, they have to take shelter to warm themselves.
Baal-Bali!
And of the land of the gods and the goddesses;
But, your kiss was as great as the heavy rainfall last night!
However the truth is always in the very Bible that you read.

pretend you never read this.

0317 Fingertip to fingertip, a human net
i think it's really wonderful
that with all the million poems on this net
people find their way to read what each of us has read
or written.
it's like a shining human net around the world -
fingertip to fingertip in space
all connected by the love of poetry
and the poetry of love.
so instead of moping and chewing our pencils,
feeling pathetic and unread
we can dedicate all our poems to all those real people who - yes! -
actually read them
and say
It's you I wrote them for - and you - and you-
and now I know you're there
I'll write some better ones for you in time,
that what it's all about...
and if I'm silent for a time
working on something that's good enough for you,
remember -
love, love, love

Banquet Of Love
I once heard these words in a song;
'You must remember this...a kiss is
just a kiss...a sigh is just a sigh, ' etc.
With you...nothing...nothing, could be
further from the truth.
Your kiss, is a ride among the stars,
a shower of moon beams and a
sailboat ride, in the Garden Of Eden.
Kissing you...is an out of body experience,
a transport to paradise and a creation
of ultimate passion and joy.
Kissing, every part of who you are, is
truly a banquet of love.
Let me feast of your love and of your lips,
for I am in love with you. Let me always
kiss your mouth...eyes...all of you.
Let us ride the feathers of angels, through
starlit nights-holding...kissing, for now...
and evermore.
Your kiss...touch...embrace, has captured
my heart...my very soul.
I send you this kiss...for the lips
I can not do without.
