We don't bother much about dress and manners in England, because as a nation we don't dress well and we've no manners.

Manners are of such great consequence to the novelist that any kind will do. Bad manners are better than no manners at all, and because we are losing our customary manners, we are probably overly conscious of them; this seems to be a condition that produces writers.

Yes, but also one of the problems for a novelist in Ireland is the fact that there are no formal manners. I mean some people have beautiful manners but there's no kind of agreed form of manners.

I Believe In America
I Believe In America…., we’re a nation of hopes and dreams…..,
Sweet freedom will fill our needs…., I Believe In America.
I Believe In America…., I believe we must fight for peace….,
My faith in us will never cease…., I Believe In America.
With His strength from up above…,
We’ll prevail on our massive quest…,
Our nation breathes kindness and love…..,
We’ll lead our world to happiness.
I Believe In America…, we are united in democracy….,
Defeating evil and hypocrisy…., I Believe In America.
Our Lord is watching every move we make…..,
I know He’ll help us do our best….,
Guiding us with every step we take….,
Because our lives are truly blessed.
I Believe In America…., we’re a nation of hopes and dreams…..,
Sweet freedom will fill our needs…., I Believe In America.
Yes, I Believe In America.

Manners Lost
Bumped from behind
as I was walking down
the street today.
The culprit shot me
a menacing glare
as if to say
how dare I
be in her way
Waiting on the sidewalk
to board an empty bus,
in front the vehicle door
stands three of us
resisting the force
of an impatient crowd,
yet the man on my right,
to make matters worse,
still feels he must
push me aside
to get on first.
At the grocery store
manner-less people gather galore.
So precious is your time
and so regal are you
that you cannot wait in line
like ordinary others do,
so you swerve your cart
and cut in front
the customer in queue.
With ease I can carry on
till I have a lengthy song
of all the ill manners
or lack of courtesy
witnessed and suffered daily,
but it will not bring any solution
to the bad manners pollution
devastating our nation.
So, instead I'll remind
everyone to look,
search until you find
the manners left behind
back in those old days
when we were uncivilized.

Hypocrisy
Hypocrisy
I wanted to sit and write today-but I did not know what to say.
Then a thought came to me. Why don’t I write about hypocrisy?
The hypocrisy of man leaves you to wonder.
Will this country make another blunder?
Will we continue in this Arab war where we are despised/
Will we choose to live a lie?
They say Americans shed their blood for you and me.
We all know its hypocrisy.
Men in uniform no longer fight the world wars.
People who want to hide what they are Moreover, what they say and do is because of me and you. Our service members and women still use our uniforms with pride
It is something that we can’t deny.
I could see it in my mind-the older politician telling the younger one.
“Let the road take its course” we are the trainers and they are the horse.
They will go where we lead them-that is why we are leaders.
The politicians of all nations should hide their heads in shame.
They search for all that they can gain.
They all try to line their pockets
They’ll pull your eyeballs from their sockets.
Then you cannot see all their hidden hypocrisies.
People will believe for a short period
While it weighs on their mind.
They have to tell the politicians that they will not follow
Like sheep to a slaughter so they could make a quarter.
We must tell them that we are tired as can be-living in hypocrisy.

To an uncaring public
I speak this truth
With wasted words
But you are uniformed
Speaking words of hate
One nation, divided
And justice is deception
Unity is merely a word
Making hypocrisy visible
A twenty second prayer
To bombs, bullets, and blood
We pledge our allegiance
We pledge our allegiance
To bombs, bullets and blood
A twenty second prayer
Making hypocrisy visible
Unity is merely a word
And justice is deception
One nation, divided
Speaking words of hate
But you are uniformed
With wasted words
I speak this truth
To an uncaring public

Jingoism
Be not jingoistic
and say 'No' to the calls
of to religion and race.
Be patriotic to your nation
to stand by the poor
and book the criminals.
Love your nation
for its war against
illiteracy and poverty.
Love your nation
for its unceasing efforts
to extract work from the youths.
Love your nation
for not encroaching
and enslaving the neighbours.
Love your nation
for her indigenuous efforts
to reach the peak in health-care.
Love your nation
for being secular
and respect all cults and tongues.
Love your nation
for being a model
to other nations in this world.

State Of The Nation
You can walk, or you can run
You dont have to be someone
I went on a summer cruise
Upon an ocean born to lose
My brother said that he was dead
I saw his face and shook my head
Can you see where we cant be
Were losing our blood in the sea
cause its the state of the nation
Thats holding our salvation
Yes, its the state of the nation
Thats holding our salvation
Oh, the state of the nation
Is causing deprivation
Oh, the state of the nation
Is causing deprivation
From my home I traveled far
I drove in my stolen car
When it broke down, I kissed the ground
cause I dont kiss when youre around
I dont find that I have been
The portrait of an only son
If thats the case, then who could tell
Where my story had begun?
Cause its the state of the nation
Thats holding our salvation
Yes, its the state of the nation
Thats holding our salvation
Yes, the state of the nation
Thats causing deprivation
Oh, the state of the nation
Thats causing deprivation
Even now, Im all alone
Behind a wall thats made of stone
I think about where we have been
And all the sights that could be seen
I know it all could be worthwhile
If only I could force a smile
Now we turn our backs to the sea
The shame of a nation well never be
Cause its the state of the nation
Thats holding our salvation
Yes, its the state of the nation
Thats holding our salvation
Oh, the state of the nation
Is causing deprivation
Yes, the state of the nation
Is causing deprivation
