A man can be short and dumpy and getting bald but if he has fire, women will like him.

Ben apfelgarten

There was a certain gentleman, Ben Apfelgarten called,
Who lived way off in Germany a many years ago,
And he was very fortunate in being very bald
And so was very happy he was so.
He warbled all the day
Such songs as only they
Who are very, very circumspect and very happy may;
The people wondered why,
As the years went gliding by,
They never heard him once complain or even heave a sigh!

The women of the province fell in love with genial Ben,
Till (may be you can fancy it) the dickens was to pay
Among the callow students and the sober-minded men--
With the women-folk a-cuttin' up that way!
Why, they gave him turbans red
To adorn his hairless head,
And knitted jaunty nightcaps to protect him when abed!
In vain the rest demurred--
Not a single chiding word
Those ladies deigned to tolerate--remonstrance was absurd!

Things finally got into such a very dreadful way
That the others (oh, how artful) formed the politic design
To send him to the reichstag; so, one dull November day,
They elected him a member from the Rhine!
Then the other members said:
"Gott im Himmel! what a head!"
But they marvelled when his speeches they listened to or read;
And presently they cried:
"There must be heaps inside
Of the smooth and shiny cranium his constituents deride!"

Well, when at last he up 'nd died--long past his ninetieth year--
The strangest and the most lugubrious funeral he had,
For women came in multitudes to weep upon his bier--
The men all wond'ring why on earth the women had gone mad!
And this wonderment increased
Till the sympathetic priest
Inquired of those same ladies: "Why this fuss about deceased?"
Whereupon were they appalled,
For, as one, those women squalled:
"We doted on deceased for being bald--bald--bald!"

He was bald because his genius burnt that shock of hair away
Which, elsewise, clogs one's keenness and activity of mind;
And (barring present company, of course) I'm free to say
That, after all, it's intellect that captures womankind.
At any rate, since then
(With a precedent in Ben),
The women-folk have been in love with us bald-headed men!

Basically, they had asked me if I would shave my head or wear a bald cap. I said look, if you are doing a series for five years I would want to shave my hair because I would go bald with all the gum and glue from the bald cap.

Leise Rieselt Der Schnee

Leise rieselt der schnee,
Still und starr liegt der see.
Winterlich glnzet der wald:
Freue dich, christkind kommt bald!
In den herzen ists warm;
Still schweigt kummer und harm.
Sorge des lebens verhallt:
Freue dich, christkind kommt bald.
Bald ist stille nacht.
Friede auf erden erwacht.
Horch nur, wie lieblich es schallt:
Freue dich, christkind kommt bald

Show Tune II

That's the long and short of it
now you know
how I've been waiting all these years
where I'm coming from
that's the long and short of it.

That's the long and short of it
now you see
just how hot hot jazz was
how it turned about, my bookcase
that's the long and short of it.

That's the long and short of it
now you know
that my arrest record's
not my best record
that's the long and short of it.

That's the long and short of it
now you see
how the Past's like a love
you can neither leave nor live
that's the long and short of it

That's the long and short of it
now you know
it was no gun in my pocket
it was a rocket
that's the long and short of it.

That's the long and short of it
and you're wond'ring dear
how I kept so pure
hull, it was easy
that's the long and short of it.

That's the long and short of it
now you see
so bounce your head
into bed
that's the long and short of it.

That's the long and short of it
read the blues
in these tattoos
make a song of it
that's the short and long of it.

How I wish
there was a bridge-
then I could burn it;
or the train
of a refrain
then I could board it
but there isn't
no there isn't, so...

How Many Women Are Out There?

How many women are out there,
That are looking for a man?
That would fight for what he believes in,
And would do whatever he can.

How many women are out there,
That wish that they could find?
A man that looks at future.
Not the things that are left behind.

How many women are out there,
That seek a man who's true?
When the situation arises,
It's the right thing he will do.

How many women are out there,
Looking for a man with determined heart?
To change the things he needs to change,
To make a brand new start.

How many women are out there,
That are looking for a friend?
One that would always be there for you.
On him you could depend.

How many women are out there,
That are looking for a lover?
To hold you hand when you walk around,
And hold your heart under the covers.

How many women are out there,
Think this man does not exist?
A figment of your imagination.
Is it one you can't resist?

How many women are out there,
That this is your desire?
This is the man you're seeking.
The one who'll light your fire.

How many women are out there,
They think that this man could be?
I'll let you know he does exist.
That man is simply me.

Back In Maribujoc One Evening Last Summer

i look at the picture again
of old men and women
reminiscing their past
one evening dinner their
bald heads shiny on the
light the women with furrows
on their foreheads nicely
concealed by imported
cream, i listen a lot about
this conference of what
to do with poverty and
make the town alive again...

what i felt was this: ghostly
and ghastly, cold air by the
window, hushing, hungry
for attention.

Women

Women behind bars, women in fast cars, women in distress, women with no dress
Women in airplanes, women who play games
Women in uniform, see that woman with her clothes gone
Women who satisfy, women you cant buy
Like women in magazines, and women in a limousine
Women who sip champagne, women who feel no pain
Women in a disco, and women who dont wanna know, no no
Oh, women wanting sympathy, women feeling extacy
Women who live in fantasies, bringing man to his knees
Women who boil to love, women who need a shove
Women who cant be beat, get that woman in the back seat, yeah yeah
Women in the usa, those women steal your heart away
Women into rock n roll, women who steal the show, go go go
Women that you write songs about, women that turn around and kick you out
Women you dream about all your life
Women that stab you in the back with a switchblade knife
Oh women, oohoo, talking bout women, all round the world
Yeah women, all the naughty girls, talking bout women, come on baby

Your children in in the wolrd will die, if you sit
Your children in in the world are dying
Your husbands are culturally polluted and they are dying
Your pots are blown by light air

Your future is no more

But this is your time
Your time to rise Women of the world

Time Of The Tubers

our thinking tribe
hands sandy from digging yams
compelled to fight the mesomorphs
who captured women and girls
came upon the white carcass
of an alligator

the Bald One rubbed his head
and tasted a string of raw flesh
it was when we first
invented cooking

then we faught
crying sputtering wrenching gutcrunching
in a short gulch that resounded
they with their brawn
we with our forethought
and longer staves
so handily we triumphed
getting back the women and girls
we did not eat the fallen ones
for a change though they
were pulled apart all

and we came upon a wall
a crystalline unclimbable wall
but we could by the light
of the moon and the turning stars
peer through it
so then we bagan to wear clothes of leaves

our hands begat a city
using the wall as had been hinted
which kept the enemy at bay
for centuries
as we developed this iconography
and mulled upon great questions
such as why the gods ad become angered or had died
and left us pain famine chagrin dissimilitude drought
and that encroaching mountain of ice
that depleted the game

who were the one like us
but not the same
the ones fed all the time
and claiming territory
over the water to the east
they were not only men
but partially beasts

they took women and girls in droves
and beheaded many a man
until scattered we
essentially became them

You Think You Know Women

Women,
The pepper of life
affectionate and unavoidable
The salt of life
reliable and unreliable
The sugar of life
caring and daring
The water and fire of life
needed but distructive
Like gamalin 20 useful but poisonous
Motor car, joy at first, journey later.

Women,
The cameleon of life with unique colours
Sources of life but unpredictable
The healer and killer
The only wall infront of men
The english call them ''WOMEN''
That is WOE-MEN (Woe unto Men)
Yoruba call them IYAWO
That is IYA-WO (Punishment look)
The boss of all bosses
The only creature that does not
need a teacher.
The name you must fear.

A new age for women

"A new age for women"
Ye who preach the sermon
"A new age for women has dawned"
Or perhaps fresh propaganda spawned
I'm sorry to say what I see
Is not the fruit of life's tree
No, this screaming on the corner
Torn and white
‘half price abortion for women's day"
Come to sell your soul
Only half price you'll pay
About the mission if the new age
Has come to the this
Your idea of what is meant to be
Is inches short of bliss

If Yeats and Eve both had apples
Can't Adam share with Maya a
Or at least with one of us
The women in your circle
The lady in the bus
Look around women bent low
But still painting their pride
No matter how you shame us
We'll take it in our stride!

Cravat Or Turkey Neck

The visible signs of ageing
the bald head
I've been nearly bald
since my early
twenties
the Friar Tuck grey hair
the last remnant
of a great teenage
Elvis pompadour
the turkey neck
I could disguise
with a cravat
but that's not me.
