I'm glad movies aren't going to please everybody, they can't. But what they have to be is recognisable. I don't equate myself with a master painter, but I think you can recognise my films.

I take care of my looks to some extent because of what I do. But I don’t feel any pressure to look a certain way. I suppose that I try to keep myself as neutral a canvas as possible.I don’t want to be too recognisable for the way I wear my hair or the colour of my lipstick.

A Path

I ventured down a path
I had walked many years ago.
So much had changed since then.
It was hardly recognisable,
but it was it still the same path
that had been used by countless feet,
and it never lost any of its individuality.
It was still the same old path
I had used in my courting days.

Poem about Poetry - Poetic Enlightenment

a poem being written,
head, legs and hands awry
struggle to be placed in
their proper places so
that a smart and recognisable
child can be brought to the world

my master like a woman in labour
tries his utmost to carve a masterpiece
so that each word tells its reason
in his field to cross over the mind of readers
spawn echoes in depth of meanings
and holds on to their heart

i am a poem still being written
words jostle in and out of the space
of a verse, to get things to fall
into a poetic scheme, so that
readers can give their mind
a sublimal lift in their quest
for poetic enlightenment

Brothers Just Burnt His Love Letters

brother just burnt
the letters,
a bundle with the
recognisable characters
of puppy love -
our neighbour's
shoulder-length teenage
daughter people known
for her intelligence,
good grades in class
and beauty.
their resounding
laughter and tears
burst in the yellow flame
as it tears through
the envelopes and
papers with such
a coldness of purpose
my heart too has grown cold
as i witness this stoic
ending to a relationship
gone awry.
i turn away praying
that brother would
let the bygone
trail with the smoke
but the light
to guide him
to another world
where there is again
fun, laughter and
letters to share
the thoughts, aspirations
and love of youth.

Shekinah Light

The shekinah light drove Moses into the cleft
Felled Paul on the way to Damascus
Blinds all who look upon God’s unveiled face.
The light must be diffused to bring life
Light cast shadows from creations store
Beneath the shadows, life teams multicoloured.
Only the shadows give meaning and hope
So the light came, human in form
Seeable, recognisable, man shaped
Yes the light in him gave shape to everything
He is the prism by which love is known
Creation is ordered, humanity has hope.
The shekinah light of glory can be looked at
Bring new life, new hope, out of the shadows

Angels

Angels..
do you believe in angels?
do angels believe in you?
which question, the more sensible?

suppose angels
to know greatly more than us..
suppose, that’s why they’re there…

suppose, they know space is not fully real:
enter it knowingly, to deliver us
a holy message, wearing whiteness, light,
which would announce them
truthful, good of all good, and beautiful..

suppose, they know time is not fully real:
enter it knowingly, to deliver us
a message that’s eternal, phrased
in terms of human life, direct, immediate;

suppose them, to be untroubled
by human frailty: knowing all
they need to know; messengers
of love beyond all love;
rejoicing in the heavenly joy
of living under perfect law..

suppose… suppose…
that all this living metaphor,
so recognisable to human mind,
lives in each human heart..

The poem called

and when the cat had finished drinking
and he had watched that delicate pink tongue
lapping as carefully as any lady
and had wondered whether cats enjoy this patient method
or whether they long to pour it down their throats, carelessly
and savagely, as they live wildly in the nights

then he heard the poem call
faintly, almost indifferently, the sound unmistakeable
yet always different
this time it came from a far distance
beyond the cat, though the cat was somehow part of it,
beyond the yard where he had once and never forgot
put a bullet into the old dog that
could not stop shaking

beyond the barn, beyond the field
where he nuzzled his favourite of the horses
and it allowed this intimacy, patiently;

so far beyond, so faint, the cry that poems make
as they, like cats, like dogs, like horses
who know nature so much more certainly than we
the sound that poems make as they wait patiently
to be found

he walked towards it but many times was lost,
he had to stop, stand still, listen,
and wait to hear that sound
recognisable but different every time

and when he and the poem had found each other
they were for a moment, silent, still,
then both turned to look over his shoulder
to where, yet further still,
the next poem had begun to call to him, faintly, almost indifferently,
the sound familiar, yet never quite the same

Breathing

Outside
Gets inside
Through her skin.
Ive been out before
But this time its much safer in.
Last night in the sky,
Such a bright light.
My radar send me danger
But my instincts tell me to keep
Breathing,
(out, in, out, in, out, in...)
Breathing,
Breathing my mother in,
Breathing my beloved in,
Breathing,
Breathing her nicotine,
Breathing,
Breathing the fall-out in,
Out in, out in, out in, out in.
Weve lost our chance.
Were the first and the last, ooh,
After the blast.
Chips of plutonium
Are twinkling in every lung.
I love my
Beloved, ooh,
All and everywhere,
Only the fools blew it.
You and me
Knew life itself is
Breathing,
(out, in, out, in, out...)
Breathing,
Breathing my mother in,
Breathing my beloved in,
Breathing,
Breathing her nicotine,
Breathing,
Breathing the fall-out in,
Out in, out in, out in, out in,
Out in, out in, out in, out...
(out!)
In point of fact it is possible to tell the
(out!)
Difference between a small nuclear explosion and
A large one by a very simple method. the calling
Card of a nuclear bomb is the blinding flash that
Is far more dazzling than any light on earth--brighter
Even than the sun itself--and it is by the duration
Of this flash that we are able to determine the size
(what are we going to do without? )
Of the weapon. after the flash a fireball can be
Seen to rise, sucking up under it the debris, dust
And living things around the area of the explosion,
And as this ascends, it soon becomes recognisable
As the familiar mushroom cloud. as a demonstration
Of the flash duration test lets try and count the
Number of seconds for the flash emitted by a very
Small bomb; then a more substantial, medium-sized
Bomb; and finally, one of our very powerful,
High-yield bombs
What are we going to do without?
Ooh please!
What are we going to do without?
Let me breathe!
What are we going to do without?
Ooh, quick!
We are all going to die without!
Breathe in deep!
What are we going to die without?
Leave me something to breathe!
We are all going to die without!
Oh, leave me something to breathe!
What are we going to do without?
Oh, god, please leave us something to breathe!
We are all going to die without
Oh, life is--breathing.

Soul Dance

I will dance with you

It will be the dance of my soul
I will be open and honest
Show you my inner being
I will trust you

Take you to places in my soul that have been broken and restored
Places that cause pain and healing
Places that have hated and loved
Places I have forgotten and remembered
Places I have not visited in a long time and places I go every day

I will dance with you the dance of my soul

And feel your soul dance with mine to those same places in yours

Orchestral Proportions

Generation subsequent, momentum gallops,
Running freely awesome natures rides.
As the wild hunt frolics in the sky.
Politicians in unison must recognise
That which the people keep well disguised.
Hidden from the view of pigsty atrocities stewing,
Boiling, frothing forth a flock of birds
As they tweet in twee harmonies
Of orchestral proportions unheard.

The Sky pale blue and bluer still
The Lovers locked upon the hill,
As we question what it is to love,

What it is to be free in a society that
Feeds you your history the way they would have it,
They way they read it through tainted eyes of bias magnitudes,
All to feed an attitude of hatred for their brother,
Each black ribbon sister in distress.

Confessions uttered through pain of inescapable agony,
Confessions granted under duress.
Messy scenes the mob obscene is outside the courtroom waiting.
Chained to the railings, Freedoms voice is heard through a thousand violent shades,
Fading, jaded, barely recognisable above the din, drowning in the white.
Drowning out of sight.

How can we trust a law that is no law unto itself?
How can we know who we are if we are to place
Individuality upon the shelf? As we are adorned as one in many,
Within uniform conformity as its rages upon the souls of the young,
The teachers say it’s better as you can’t rich from poor
Yet to be poor it is no illness and to be rich there is no cure.

How can we come to trust a heaven that will allow you to
Buy your time from hells despite? How can we trust a church
That would have you blinded from the light?
Mumbled under wings of fire angelic confessions due,
How can we trust a bird when 2000 years ago he flew?

I feel sorry for the bird, for the littlest of lambs,
Sacrificed for the sins of man when no sin had found its manifestation
From his hand. All that’s wrong has been done in his name,
The littlest of lambs, his memory shamed,
By the blood of every man that kills with him in heart,
Shamed into slavery to bear the bitter cup of injustice,
Done in the name of his own father from whom he
Never should have parted.

Aloof, Cool And Haughty

There are not too many places,
Where the showing of one's appreciation...
Is disregarded.
And instead of accepting one's positive comments,
About what it is they do,
People will think anything mentioned about that...
Is an act of patronizing.

AND...
It 'is' when giving another one's support.
HOWEVER,
In some places this is regarded as being...
Aloof, cool and haughty.
So what is one left to do to leave minds like this,
Left to eventually dismiss?
One becomes...
Aloof, cool and haughty to please expectations.

Like I said,
There are not too many places,
Where the showing of one's appreciation...
Is disregarded.
But...
Places like this do exist.

Astral Plane

I lie down
On the bed
Relax into my own head

I start to feel
The power
Of the astral light

Rising through my body
Faster than
The speed of light

I feel a calm
As my body shoots
Into an astral time

As I ride along
On the colours
Of the astral plane
I see far away places
Sandy beaches
Seas so blue

I see places
With no faces
Faces with no places
People from my past life
People from the next

Then I return to my bed
With peace in my head
Knowing it's not
My journeys end

People And Places

Do (do) you (you) feel (feel) me?
Do (do) you (you) feel (feel) me?
Do (do) you (you) feel (feel) me?
Do you see the faces
round and round the places?
Are they people that you want to know?
Do you see the faces runnin round to different places?
Are they people that you what to know?
Yes, I see their faces one by one.
Yes, I see their joy and sadness.
Every single face there lies a trace of sadness felt before.
Do (do) you (you) feel (feel) me?
Do (do) you (you) feel (feel) me?
Do you see the faces runnin round to different places?
Are you people that we want to know?
Were the people goin round and round to difference places.
Youre the people that we want to know.
Yes, you are the ones.
You are the ones.
Every word I say
I say true, yeah, true.
Every single face there lies a trace of sadness felt before.
Take a ride on a rocket, take your mind, unlock it.
You all know we can do it, if you put your mind to it.
Take your life as you feel it, let no one deceive it.
You all know we can do it, if you put you mind to it.
Yes, Ive seen
Yes, Ive seen these lovely, lovely places.
Are we people that you want to know?
Smilin faces with long lasting traces,
Youre the people that we want to know.
Youre the people that we want to know.
Youre the people that we want to know.
So, take a ride on a rocket, take your mind, unlock it.
You all know we can do it, if you put your mind to it.
Take your life as you feel it, let no one deceive it.
You all know we can do it, if you put you mind to it.
