Why and when prayers can't be of help!
If prayers can't develop person,
and purify oneself,
If prayers can't modify the
person,
If prayers can't erase inherent
fear and prejudice, if prayers are unable to transcend
mundane self,
If prayers can't take one to the
oneness of self and God,
If not prayers show the light,
It is not the prayers that are handicapped,
But the mind without love of
eternal is handicapped,
mind that can't walk
straight, how can it leap,
Without longing for beloved, How can the heartless robot can
see the light,
Can a record player get
deliverance,
chanting mantra billion times
mechanically? The failure is in his own mind,
It is his own mind that is opaque,
darkness felt not due to absence
of light,
But due to thickness of dust on
the mirror, When intense longing
promotes, prayer blooming into
absorption,
Meditation becomes every
breath,
Breath felt heavy without feeling beloved,
Then only one finds it,
and feel always independant
eternal,
Unity of all creation,
As creator himself breathing in all creatures!

Not a Friend, Left Behind
A tale seldom told
Of a life seemingly forgotten
Not a friend, left behind
In the hurried pace of life
Time to precious a commodity
To spare a moment, a thought
The terms of friendship
A glossary of semantics
Aquatinted by interpretation
Of what is felt and what is said
The colleague of indifference
A reality or emotional impulse
Allied to some promises
And so some stories read
Into an unhappy end
That seldom they are told
Have you heard the one about
Not a friend, left behind

Quantum Est Quod Desit
'Twas a new feeling - something more
Than we had dar'd to own before,
Which then we hid not;
We saw it in each other's eye,
And wish'd in every broken sigh
To speak, but did not!
She felt my lips' impassion'd touch;
'Twas the first time I dar'd so much,
And yet, she chid not;
But whisper'd o'er my burning brow,
'Oh! do you doubt I love you now?'
Sweet soul! I did not!
Warmly I felt her bosom thrill,
I prest it closer, closer still,
Though gently bid not;
Till - oh! the world hath seldom heard
Of lovers, who so nearly err'd,
And yet who - did not!

How And Why
It was mid afternoon and not a cloud in the sky
The wind started acting up
I couldn’t understand why.
Then the rain started coming down
Heavy as can be
But it was only raining upon me.
twenty feet all around, outside of that
Not a dropp to be found.
How is this possible?
Is it that I’m dreaming?
And in my dream, this is what I’m seeing?
I looked up and down the street
And the cars were all dry.
I looked up again and the sky was clear blue
I just stood there not knowing what to do.
I felt someone or some thing touch my shoulder
And I spun completely around
But there was no one to be found.
I looked around again and the rain
Was still coming down
Then I heard a voice, an unfamiliar sound.
I have heard you, when you was praying at night
That you asked to bless all children
When ever in sight.
The children are blessed every second
Of every day, but your prayers
Help them, as they go on their way.
So continue your prayers and
Get the message To all mankind:
They are killing the earth
And there’s no reason why.

Home On The Range
Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day
Home, home on the range
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day
Oh give me a land where the bright diamond sand
Flows leisurely down the stream
Where the graceful white swan goes gliding along
Like a maid in a heavenly dream
Home, home on the range
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day
Oh often at night, when the heavens are bright
From the light of the glittering stars
Have I stood there amazed and asked as I gazed
If their glory exceeds that of ours
Home, home on the range
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

Until We Parted
Never saw the fields of tulips
never heard a skylark sing
never saw a sea so tranquil
until I wore your wedding ring.
Never saw a band of angels
never heard a nightingale
never heard a string concerto
until I wore a wedding veil.
Never felt so lost and lonely
never felt so down at heart
never felt the pangs of jealousy
until the day we had to part.

Did Not

Prayers Have Wings You Know
prayers have wings you know
it takes its time and moves slow
but each and every prayer is heard
though you may not hear a word.
the prayers are taken by our guardian angels
to the lord up above
who reads each one with caring and love.
he then puts it in the order received
and then satisfies every ones needs.
so when you say your prayers, day or night
it never leaves gods hearing or sight.
he is there to satisfy our needs
as long as we don't get that greed.
prayers (do) have wings you know
they do not stay in that place called limbo
where they can't be reached.
they are sometimes put in a box
that says incoming mail.
on this the angels do not fail.
so with this thought in mind
i'll leave you untill next time

Birdsong
In your love,
I spoke child-like prayers
And felt protected.
On your heart softly
I slept in tender dreams
And collected your kisses
Like rose petals and wishes.
From your reassuring voice,
I heard birdsong
And was happy.

In Pictures
Ive got her photograph on a stand by my bed
Two on the mantle and thousands in my head
I cant believe how fast shes growing
It aint supposed to be like this
Everytime I look at her I see how much Ive missed
I missed her first steps her first words and I love you daddy
Is something Ive seldom heard
Oh it hurts me so to watch my girl grow up in pictures
I send the money down do my best to do my part
But it cant compare with what Ive paid with my heart
Theres still one unanswered question that weighs heavy on my mind
Will she ever understand the reasons why
I missed her first steps and her first words and I love you daddy
Is something Ive seldom heard
Oh it hurts me so to watch my girl grow up in pictures
It takes all I have to keep the tears inside
And what I wouldnt give if I could turn back time
I missed her first steps her first words and I love you daddy
Is something Ive seldom heard
Oh it hurts me so to watch my baby grow up in pictures

Work As A Daily Prayer
my friend prayed five times a day
but did not really love his work
day in and day out he tried to avoid
what he was supposed to do
until one day someone wise cornered him
'My friend, you sure have problem
working ah but you sure love god so much
try treating your work as prayers too
for that is the best thing you can offer up
to God everyday. No other prayer could
have pleased him more.'
he changed and his luck too - he just heard
he would be getting a raise.
he thanks God a thousand times
his prayers have finally been heard

In Prayer
in prayer you kneel you make your pleas
you signify
your lowliness in supplication
you behave
like a slave
you mumble you juggle your words
choppy sometimes as you are in deep sorrow
in hunger in thirst
in dire need of comfort
asking wanting that your prayers
be granted
you genuflect to a certain extent
you are crying
you are silent
yet you are so confused and crowded
you need your prayers to be answered
at once
the soonest
you are dying
or someone you love is dying out there
you want to live
you want the other you love to live some years
you want to be together
hence your prayers
some tears fall on the floors now wet and salty
a flood of tears
a rush of a thousand words in supplication
you fall on the floor
face down the earth hands stretching body flat and so tired
i watch you and i pity you and if i were God myself i could have
heard and granted all our prayers
the prayer room is so silent
it is cold tonight and i am too, so confused hearing nothing
outside a storm is raging
the rain so strong like the wind is coming
i close the door and the windows so there may still be silence
so our prayers may be heard
who knows? maybe, maybe, who knows? we must still continue....

Often Is A Word I Seldom Use
I know that youre sad
I know that youre lonely
You lie awake till way past when
I want you to know
That Im leaving you only
cause I might not get the chance again.
Chorus:
Im cold and Im tired
And I cant stop coughing
Long enough to tell you all of the news
Id like to tell you
That Ill see you more often
But often is a word I seldom use
Often is a word I seldom use.
Tell me, where did the weekend go?
Tell me, where did the weekend go?
Went like thunder, felt like snow.
Went like thunder, felt like snow.
You must think my lifes a circus
Watching me laughing
And slapping my thighs
Howd ya like to die
In the house of mirrors
With nobody around to close your eyes.
Chorus:
Going down to the greyhound station
Going back home
And get whats mine
Got me a date
With the ten oclock special
Gonna be there at a quarter to nine.
Chorus:

The Force That Heals
following ther footprints
of Shantideva,
i found the cross of Jesus,
the uncarved block of Tao.
heard the dedicated prayers
from the mosques,
and the temples alike.
and felt the Great Spirit,
coming and going...
and i knew it all to be but this...
that every step be to relieve
the suffering of the many,
that every hand to share the cup,
that ears given to listen,
and hearts to understand,
become the force that heals!

Graced by almighty
It was unique night for me to spend with anxiety
It was first time that I was graced by almighty
I was long time that I was expecting arrival of baby
I did experience it today as it might have been felt by man
I could feel uncontrollable eagerness and so much joy within
She had gained extra weight in body even though she was lean and thin
She never regretted carrying it over for quite number of months
She counted each day and prayed God not to offer unpleasant death
As the pregnancy carry risk of so many things hence feared
It is God’s blessings and do pay off even after so much labored
If He is wishing to grace the arrival nothing can happen
But hardly there are any chances of occurring it even
I was pacing feet with lots of prayers
It was the only way to act as conveyers
It is belief that God listens to the earnest desire
I did the same with heart felt prayers and hoped happily to retire
I had no time to observe the nature outside
Even though the night was dark and covered very wide
I could not pick the signal of quite and calmness
She too was eager to witness the new face
The sound of air was gently heard
The nest too was quite with no noise of birds
I silently heart the increasing pain from wife
As if she was going to be operated upon with surgical knife
I missed number of beats in sequence
It was puzzling me about her inside presence
She was undergoing tremendous pain
Even though she was offered comfortable space to lie in
Life was never to be same again for us as couple
One more entry will be marked by ending the status of double
We may be now added with crying baby
We won’t now afford to remain inactive or lazy
The pain was felt by me outside as some movement was heard
I had worry about her and something bad was almost feared
All of sudden cry broke all my thought chain for a while
I had gone extra miles in my dreamy world in different style
I heard a calm and quite call
There was only little cry and quietness overall
The little one had arrived by giving signal on scene
The face lines let loose the tension and go away never to be seen

Early Works - My Dear Jill
My dear Jill
I’ve heard your ill,
I’d come down and see you
as I think highly of you.
Sadly, I went and caught a cold
and afraid my fate is sold.
I’ll not sign my name at the bottom
in case of a gain ill gotten.
With these flowers I send to you
comes my love and prayers too.
Though these flowers are pretty,
you could shame them with your beauty.
You probably know this, now you know whom
by the many pictures I have of you.
The romantic things you say to me
as I hold the hand of thee
showing just how much you care
and want my love to share.
The love I have for you is strong
and I’ll worry for you all night long.
Every night by my bed,
I’ll pray for your safety through the coming day.
You know not of the greatness your words give
or how in my mind they live.
I am but a single soul
seeking refuge within a shoal.
When I heard of your sickness,
I felt a deep sadness, though
I’m not a religious man
I believe the lord will take your hand
and nurse you back to health.
Though life may have treated you wrong
and for a while the pleasures of life are gone
all because you are sick.
Don’t worry my love
my prayers will help you get better quick.
Date unknown. (Probably 1965)
This was a personal poem I wrote for someone at the time I cared for who was ill at the time. Sadly, we lost touch with each other in the closing of 1966 and beginning of 1967 and have never seen one another since.

Simple, Seldom and Sad
Simple, seldom and sad
We are;
Alone on the Halibut Hills
Afar,
With sweet mad Expressions
Of old
Strangely beautiful
So we're told
By the Creatures that Move
In the sky
And Die
On the night when the Dead Trees
Prance and Cry.
Sensitive, seldom and sad -
Sensitive, seldom and sad -
Simple, seldom and sad
Are we
When we take our path
To the purple sea -
With mad, sweet Expressions
Of Yore,
Strangely beautiful,
Yea, and More
On the Night of all Nights
When the sky
Streams by
In rags, while the Dead Trees
Prance and Cry,
sensitive, seldom and sad -
sensitive, seldom and sad.

2000 Miles
Shes gone 2000 miles
Its very far
The snow came down
Gets colder day by day
I miss her
I hear children singing
Felt like Christmastime
In these frozen and silent nights
Sometimes in a dream... you appear
Outside under the purple sky
Diamonds in the snow... sparkle
Our hearts were singing
It felt like Christmastime
2000 miles
Is very far through the snow
Ill think of you
Wherever you go
2000 miles
Its very far through the snow
Ill think of you
Whenever you go
Shes gone 2000 miles
Its very far
The snow came falling down
Gets colder day by day
I miss you
I hear people singing
It felt be christmastime
I heard people singing
It felt be christmastime
I heard people singing
It felt like Christmastime
I heard people singing
It felt like Christmastime
