People thought me a bit strange at first; a blond haired, blue-eyed Norwegian who sang Mexican folk songs, but I used it to my advantage and got a job. And so the music became my ticket to education.

I wanted to play rock and roll when I started playing. Nobody at that time ever thought about songwriting. You sang songs, that's all. You sang other people's songs. That's all there were.

Whitney Houston Tribute
Whitney born in New Jersey in the year of 1963,
she had talent, with her songs she made people happy.
She sang great songs with a long range of chords.
She sang with fire which everyone adored
we are shocked of her passing she can't be ignored,
for she contributed to the 'World of Music'
music that had never been done before.
She sang of Children changing the world,
she had beautiful lyrics that set the record.
May your daughter Bobby Kristina be
comforted in this time of sorrow,
Hope she recovers and has peaceful tomorrows.

Her Song
I sang that song on Sunday,
To witch an idle while,
I sang that song on Monday,
As fittest to beguile;
I sang it as the year outwore,
And the new slid in;
I thought not what might shape before
Another would begin.
I sang that song in summer,
All unforeknowingly,
To him as a new-comer
From regions strange to me:
I sang it when in afteryears
The shades stretched out,
And paths were faint; and flocking fears
Brought cup-eyed care and doubt.
Sings he that song on Sundays
In some dim land afar,
On Saturdays, or Mondays,
As when the evening star
Glimpsed in upon his bending face
And my hanging hair,
And time untouched me with a trace
Of soul-smart or despair?

My songs reflected a lot the provincial world of a girl, living in Siena, with all its inside histories. I wrote songs and music they always told about psychological problems and I sang to the people that what I discovered. The results were songs of an endless sadness.

My American Dream
Author unknown (sung by dan peek)
Found on heard.
I always thought that I wanted a long, new, shiny cadillac
That a real man wears five hundred dollar suits upon his back
I always thought that I needed a big, old house with a million dollar view
But baby, since we fell in love, all I needed is you
Waking up (waking up) to my american dream
Shes a long haired, blue eyed, country girl
Shes better than a fantasy
Waking up (waking up) to my american dream
And I would not trade the whole wide world
For what she means to me
Shes pretty as the moonlight on the gulf of mexico
And her heart is pure and true as any california gold
I put her on a pedastel like lady liberty
Know there is no finer girl from sea to shining sea
Im waking up (waking up) to my american dream
Shes a long haired, blue eyed, country girl
Shes better than a fantasy
Waking up (waking up) to my american dream
And I would not trade the whole wide world
For what she means to me
Waking up (waking up) to my american dream
Shes a real live, blue eyed, country girl
The best thing Ive ever seen
And I would not trade the whole wide world
For what she means to me
Im waking up (waking up) to my american dream
Im waking up (Im waking up) to my american dream

I'm insecure about everything, because... I'm never going to look in the mirror and see this blond, blue-eyed girl. That is my idea of what I'd like to look like.
I Can't Find a Doll with a Chinese Face!
I've watched your children, playing in the sand,
Pretty little girls with a yellow hair-band,
Cheeky little boys with their snub-nosed faces,
Kicking and a-tripping over dragging shoe-laces,
Little brown eyes, and stubby little hands,
They laugh and delight, these children of the Han.
So why do their Ma ma's buy them little dolls
With blond hair and blue eyes from western malls?
Kan kan woman if you can can see,
Look in the mirror at your rare beauty;
Who's got the hair that would steal men's glances,
Coal black and straight, that your face enhances,
High cheek-bones, and your almond eyes
Now look at your child, be proud, be wise,
Why make them think they're less than they are
Than a blond haired bimbo in a western bar?
Sons of the dragon, and little princesses,
Need to be loved, to be held - caresses!
They should be playing with a doll just like them
Not something borrowed from a Disney production,
Toss all the Barbies and the blue-eyed babies,
Revel in the glow of your eastern features,
I'm just a westerner, wandering the place,
But I can't find a doll with a Chinese face!

Sitting On Top Of The World
Mississippi river so big and wide, blond haired woman on the other side.
Now shes gone, gone, gone and I dont worry cause Im sitting on top of the world.
I worked all summer, spring and fall, blond haired woman the cause of it all.
Now shes gone, gone, gone and I dont worry cause Im sitting on top of the world.
I saw her in dallas and el paso. said come back baby, I need you so.
Now shes gone, gone, gone and I dont worry cause Im sitting on top of the world.
Mississippi river so big and wide, blond haired woman on the other side.
Now shes gone, gone, gone and I dont worry cause Im sitting on top of the world.

Music is Laughter
Music is laughter as a sounding of the wind,
It always wants to make one sing, sing, sing.
Oh what beauty is the total heartful rapture
That creates a new melodious rhythm to capture.
Music soother a tired body and mind,
And can be relaxing treatment for mankind.
When you have felt the thrust of a song.
Imagination soars and you can't go wrong.
Some people feel music works like music,
While others cry at folk-songs that are tragic.
Love songs can seem very dramatic
While dancing to tunes that are often romantic.
Oh, when the sounds of music reaches my ears,
It can touch a memory or bring sudden tears.
Whenever I hear sounds of music that play,
I know for me, it brings a happy day.

My father being in the movie business, I thought being an actor would be great. But when I started singing to people in coffeehouses, you know, singing folk music and then, later, singing songs that I started to write myself, I felt more than an affinity for it.

Blue Eyed Soul
You've got a blue-eyed soul,
And if you don't let it show,
It'll leave you, you won't even know,
Without your blue-eyed soul
Can you keep it simple? Can you let the snare crack?
Can you let it move without holding back?
Are you afraid to let it go,
Without your blue-eyed soul?
You're gonna lose control,
You're gonna lose control,
Without your blue-eyed soul,
Without your blue-eyed soul,
Without your blue-eyed soul

The Beast: Chapter Two
She walked through the door
looking back only to see him fade
into the crowd of students
pouring across the plaza in front of the auditorium.
She watched him recede
vowing
that she would make a point of finding out
more about him.
There was the freshman boat ride in a few days
there was her next opportunity.
Suddenly a voice said:
'Wow, that was chemistry
if I have ever seen chemistry.'
It was Nancy, Nicole's roommate.
They had first met only the day before
when Nicole had arrived at the college for the week long orientation
which included of course
meeting one's roommate.
Nancy was already there in the room
when Nicole arrived her bags in hand
looking to see where she would she might spend the next four years of her life.
The two eyed each other momentarily
quickly sizing each other up after some long seconds
deciding that they liked one another.
Nancy was there on an academic scholarship
just like Nicole and they had been paired together
probably because they had somethings in common.
They seemed to be each other's type,
studious, quiet
and had settled in with each other comfortably.
Nancy falling in beside Nicole
was talking and saying:
'Who was that beautiful blond guy you were talking to. When he put his hands on you I almost died.'
Nancy was gushing.
'Blond? ' Nicole said, blankly? 'Who are you talking about? '
'You know the big blond who opened the door for you looking deep deep into your eyes, ' Nancy said giving Nicole her best dreamy-eyed girl look.
Nicole looked at her again blankly finally saying.
'He was no blond. Didn't see any blond.'
Then with a shock Nicole realized that in her mind's eye recounting Nancy's blond and the Beast guy shifted back and forth between the tall blond Nancy was going on about and her guy, her ugly guy.
Nicole stopped cold on the street.
'What the hell is going on here? ' she thought to herself.
'Did he have a red vest on? ' she finally asked Nancy.
'Yes, that is the one? ' Nancy answered quickly.
The blond in Nicole's vision did have a red vest on but, her Beast did not.
It was naturally a black vest.
Nicole stopped, her mouth dropping, at her own thoughts.
Nancy touched her arm.
'Are you alright? '

The Poet's Song
I HID in the world and sang,
And I sang so loud and long
That all the ages rang
With the music of my song.
I sang of the earth and sky,
5
I sang of the whispering seas,
I sang of the mountains high,
And I sang of the flowers and trees;
I sang of the early spring,
I sang of the dawning day,
10
I sang, for I had to sing
As the young lambs have to play;
Till heaven and earth were ringing,
And all the people heard,
And they said, "We love his singing,
15
For his song is the song of the bird."

Finding Ashley
There was a girl that I knew well,
And where she went I can not tell,
A bright face and humor great,
I loved her every trait,
Though I paid her no attention,
I’d buy her back at any pention,
I’ve looked for her everywhere,
That eight year old without a care,
Now I’m lonely and going astray,
I guess she felt hated and just ran away,
Someone said they saw her grin, from
Somewhere deep within,
Then I new,
What I had to do,
And through my tears and all of my fears,
I stood the storm of life,
Even through the pain and strife,
And when I looked at my reflection,
I saw that girl and her effection,
It was hard but now I see,
That blond haired blue eyed girl was me,
Spirit Broken but not gone,
I had another chance to make her strong,
Even if the journey is long,
We are friends until the end,
And she is not the same,
Now I’ve given her a name,
Still a girl shining like a pearl,
I love her,
And she loves me,
And together we make Ashley

That evening the forest of organ pipes did not play
That evening the forest of organ pipes did not play.
A native cradle sang Schubert for us,
The mill was grinding, the music's blue-eyed drunkenness
Laughed in the songs of the hurricane.
The brown-green world of the old song,
But only eternally young where the Erl-king
Shakes the rumbling crowns of nightingaled
Linden trees in savage rage.
The awesome force of night's return,
That wild song, like black wine:
It is a double, a hollow ghost
Peering senselessly through the cold window!

The Folk Man
The folk man makes beautiful music everyday when
He plays the guitar in the streets and he gets $ 90.00/ day for his Singing
And the money is given to him by the strangers that are walking on the Sidewalk where he plays his guitar
And the strangers that walk in the sidewalk goes crazy for his music
His music leaves people breathless
And the folk man got the gift of music from God

Show Tune
I never guessed it would be like this
You seemed so, so, so,
aloof.
so Blond and blue
so ivy, so Vassar,
or thought you'd go, go, go,
But kid you did
You made it easy, oh, so easy, oh,
it's the truth.
chorus
I never guessed it would be like this
Remember I, I, I
am just a coof
am just a caddy
So it was so, so, so,
amazing you
So la-de-da, so chin-in-air
so debonaire
Would let me be your daddy.
chorus
I never guessed it would be like this
You never know, no, no
do You?
Needing no reproof
A relative truth
In a world of grim reality
you didn't even mind
a laddie for a daddy
Did you blond and blue?
chorus
Just who do you
think you are-
frickin' Jordan Baker?
Now I know
You're a pretty show
Another lovely faker
Oh!

You know the actor John Garfield? In one movie he walked up to this train station, the ticket booth, and the guy says, 'Yes, where are you going?' And he says, 'I want a ticket to nowhere.' I thought: that's it. The freedom to do that. I want a ticket to nowhere.
