As the 29th state to join the United States of America, it is our turn to show the nation what represents Iowa. Our commitment to quality education, hard work, and small-town values are all represented in the Iowa quarter.

We need to become good citizens in the global village, instead of competing. What are we competing for - to drive more cars, eat more steaks? That will destroy the world.

I Love....
i love...
that's the reason i walk,
the reason i breathe.
the reason i grieve.
the reason i dance.
the reason i smile.
the reason i listen.
the reason i offer a hand.
the reason i see beauty.
the reason i see both darkness,
and light....
the reason i take chances.
the reason i keep going.
the reason i get angry.
the reason i forgive.
the reason i touch.
the reason i question.
the reason i believe.
the reason i am tolerant.
the reason i understand.
the reason i fall.
the reason i fly.
the reason i write...
the reason i am what i am!

I don't see myself as competing with other actresses. I mean, I went through a time when I was in New York, and I was going to lots of auditions and trying to get parts, but even then, you're not really competing with the other actresses. There is a competition going on, but it's not like something you can win in that way.

Back home in iowa
oh, Iowa your green rolling hills,
to be back here, brings my heart thrills,
my child hood was spent here
many memories have I, that are very dear.
The capitol city has changed so much,
many years away from you, that I lost touch
to see the tall green corn
and back here where I was born.
Some things do stay the same,
like the hot humid weather, you can't be blamed
progress does come every where
as I look around and do stare
Iowa, you have come a long way,
and to see all the changes, makes me sway
you're still beautiful, as when I left
but the changes, my heart does cleft.
Politics isn't just a game of clashing parties and competing interests. The right reason is to challenge the status quo, to serve the common good, and to leave this nation better than we found it.

I'm 47 years old. I couldn't compete with Beyonce. I'm not competing with anyone. I've already established myself as an artist. I've been in this business for 30 years. There's no reason for me to compete with anyone.

She's So Beautiful
SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL MEANINGFUL THAT SHE GIVE A SON REASON TOO SHINE, A ROSE REASON TO STAND OUT AMONG FLOWERS, A RAINBOW REASON TO BE BEATIFUL, A SUNSET REASON TO BE PRETTY, A DIAMOND REASON TO BE PRECIOUS, A QUEEN REASON TO BE CARE FOR, HER SMILE REASON TO BE RADIANT AND HER REASON TO BE LOVED.

If Something Is Done With Love
If something is done with love...
Who and how is it determined,
That the source of it...
Does not legitimately please?
And the affect,
To one accepting...
Has not received it completely.
Regardless of who evaluates,
With a detached feeling...
To contemplate with a rating of it.
If something is done with love,
It will stay that way...
Since that is the way,
One who is loving...
Is.
'But...
They believe you are competing.'
With 'who'?
And for what reason,
Would I want to jeopardize...
Those feelings of 'mine' I have inside.
They are mine to devote my time.
Perhaps they believe my loyalty can be undermined?
