I began both auditioning with Pearl Jam and recording for Eleven. In the fall of 1994, I joined Pearl Jam.

Pearls
A pearl in an ocean of dreams,
What can I say, shot the beams?
A pearl in an ocean of hopes,
All I got was a lot of nopes.
A pearl in an ocean of fears,
Just hand me the beers.
Why a pearl in an ocean,
It has no motion?
(The pearl in me, it's my birthstone.)

Black Pearl
Black Pearl
Black Pearl is my new car,
I have driven her quite far.
Up to South Carolina
and then on to the Midwest,
Black Pearl held up the very best.
She was a blessing sent to me,
she arrived on September 23.
I had to go out of town,
Car salesmen didn’t want me to breakdown.
So he gave me a sweet deal,
I got in Black Pearl on drove off with a thrill.
Black Pearl took me to Texas during Christmastime,
I visited with family and made it back just fine.
On way back stopped in Oklahoma to see friend,
this was all in year 2010.
Now Black Pearl is still with me,
I make she is maintained and she drives me safely.

If I Could Fall In Love
When I was young
I fell in love
She was a goddess
With a world inside of her mind
When she moved on
Something went wrong
She took my power
And the love I had inside
Now that I found you
I don't know how to
If I could fall
In love again
I'd fall in love with you
If I could change
A grain of sand
Into a pearl I would
I pray in time
I'll come to find
Away to break through
And save this heart of mine
You've waited long
If you can't hold on
I wouldn't blame you
I don't think I'd be that strong
What am I to do
If I can't have you
If I could fall
In love again
I'd fall in love with you
If I could change
A grain of sand
Into a pearl I would
You love me so
Even though I don't know
How do you deal
With a man like me
If I could fall
In love again
I'd fall in love with you
If I could change
A grain of sand
Into a pearl I would
I would

Eleven today
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Today you're eleven
That's nine add on two.
Now ten is behind you
And twelve is to come
When riding your bike
Don't fall on your bum.
A six and a five
Make eleven as well
Your maths are so good
This I don't need to tell.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Legs are eleven
But you've only TWO!
Eleven is better
Than ten any day
That's what I think
And I'm going to say:
'Roses are red
Violets are blue,
Eleven is lovely
And so too are you.'

Sonnet: Poetry and Myself
Poesy served to poise my shattered heart,
That bled from earthly ‘missiles’ of turmoil;
And helped me upgrade my literary art,
As I began burning the midnight-oil.
The pearl I found in sea of my troubles!
Perhaps, it was by serendipity;
Pricey for me turned on the tables;
What a priceless, lucky discovery!
Like a plumb-line, I plunged into the sea,
And learned to swim ’midst the tall waves and tides;
The ‘pearl of joy’ was mine eternally!
I guarded it night and day, me besides
O Pearl of the deep seas, my Poesy!
Thou art no myth but a reality.

Pearl, Merle And Earl And Sex
Every few days Earl tries to remember what sex used to be.
So he asks his girlfriends, “Is these thoughts sinful or weird of me? ”
Blushing Peal responds, “Why are all men so crass and crude? ”
Merle chimes in “Well Pearl, I like men who put me in the mood.”
Pearl recoils, “How can you treat it with so little dignity? ”
Merle jokes, “Using “it” for the word “sex” is an 'old' way to be.”
Listening to these ladies poor Earl becomes increasingly confused.
Are these thoughts a good thing or should they be refused?
Pearl says, “Merle, to keep your mind clean I suggest you pray.”
Earl retorts, “Pearl, I don’t want thoughts of sex to go away.”
Merle pipes in, “Pearl, just remember the way we all got here.
Folks have been doing “it”, I mean having sex, for many a year.”
Earl, why don’t you hustle those 70 year olds at other tables.
Sitting at one there’s an Olga, Margarite and at least two Mables.
White as her name sake, Pearl sat fingering her worry beads,
Hoping no 100+ year olds will bother her with their awful needs.

Is marriage inevitable?
Meena-
I loved her.
She was more than an angel.
I married her.
She was less than a devil.
Beena-
She was the mother of pearl.
Someone married.
She is still to me a pearl
or more than a mother of pearl.
Marriage-
Is it a death knell to love?
Love-
Is it alive like a mirage?

The Peril of Her Pearl
In the center of her breast a dangerous pearl found its nest.
A myriad of wondrous color it changes her mood with mighty vigor.
In love it's a pale tint of pinkish white,
In hate it's a ebony lavender tainted night.
Streaming vibrantly, fervidly through her veins
Its substance burns until control it obtains;
She touches it and with vivacious forces her pearl coerces
Her simple mind, her innocent love-
Which God gave her from his angels above.
The pearl; it's the dangerous peril
Of a innocent girl.
Those temptations allure assail her innocent demure.
So lust she must and her pearl turn to dust,
The peril of her pearl of an infatuated girl.

Pearls Of Wisdom
Every author that I know,
will at some time or other,
hand out a small pearl of wisdom,
in his or her work somewhere.
It does not matter in what genre
in which they choose to write
their pen will slip one day
and a small pearl of wisdom
will spill out and come our way.
We are all creatures of choice
and authors are no exception to the rule
in that once you have written one pearl
you can guarantee
more pearls will follow.

Pearl, Merle And Earl And Politics
Pearl, a republican, finds it hard to change.
Merle, a democrat, as usual thinks Pearl is strange.
Earl, is independent minded and politically on the fence.
Pearl whines, “When I hear the liberal crowd, they’re just too loud.”
Merle snaps back, “Pearl, that’s no reason.
Would you vote for Mickey Mouse if he were quiet for a season? ”
Earl joins in, “I’d vote either way for anyone who didn’t say
Something stupid for a day.”
Pearl laments, “I’m worried about where our country’s going.”
Merle agrees, “All politicians argue while our problems keep growing.”
Earl declares, “We, the people, will demonstrate,
Until our government really starts to improve our fate.”
These senior members differ on many issues, but they’re closely bound…
In the belief that “It’s government for the people, not the other way around.”

The Ruby And The Pearl
Can love be as warm as the ruby,
Can love be as pure as the pearl?
Just look in the heart of my love for you.
You'll find the ruby and the pearl.
My love will endure as the diamond;
And shine with the shimmer of gold.
It glows like a bright star above for you,
A thing of beauty to behold.
(Bridge:)
Come close and cling to my kiss;
Come close and share the passion of this.
Yes, love is as warm as the ruby
And love is as pure as the pearl.
Just look in the heart of my love for you.
You'll find the ruby and the pearl.
(Return to bridge:)
Come close and cling to my kiss;
Come close and share the passion of this.
Yes, love is as warm as the ruby
And love is as pure as the pearl.
Just look in the heart of my love for you.
You'll find the ruby and the pearl.

The Pearl Of Guilt
Shame and Pain
fall down like rain
drenching the soul of another Insane
Falling, bawling
the girl once did
screams in the night is when she ran and hid
Wallowing, swallowing
the guilt and the tears
is something she did for all of her years
Quiet, muffled
oh are her words
disturbing they were, but they only were hers
Gone, past
alone in this world
she could not dream of even a single pearl
Over, finished
was the girl
hopefully she reached her shiny pearl

Pearl of My Heart
The sky is blue, clouds are clear
I know the stars will do the sky,
Here I sit and wait, for one so dear
Pearl of my heart, so lovely and pretty.
Once I set my eyes, I knew that day,
I saw Angle in you, twinkle in your eye
Set my blood rolling and galloping like a Deer
Pearl of my heart, so lovely and pretty.
In my dreams, you conquer
I dream about outings, on beaches
Of lovely views on mountain peaks and flowers
I look up the sky, I’ll wait, the clock ticks,
Pearl of my heart, so lovely and pretty.

Like a layer on a pearl, you can't specifically identify the irritant, the moment of the irritant, but at the end of the day, you know you have a pearl.
Pearl, Merle and Earl
Pearl, Merle and Earl are an unlikely crew…
The two girls are 87; the ol’ man 92.
They say they live alone, but hardly true
Their cavalcade of caretakers is always in view.
There’s the day nurse and night nurse
And the two for weekends.
Then the stock boy who buys the food
And a healthy dose of Depends.
Pearl, Merle and Earl can still get around
With jaunts getting shorter with less of a sound.
They love everybody, but one thing all hate;
Why can’t folks keep their simple names straight?
“I’m Pearl with one “e” not at the end of my name.
“I’m Merle with two “e’s”, but pronounced the same.”
“It’s Earl. My one “E” is a capital letter at the start.”
This spry crew will tug at the strings of your heart.

Party
You must fasten the knot in enough swirl
To concentrate on a significant pearl.
This pearl is fastened to a side of a shirt
And this I wear for time and space to hurt.
The part I play is to dance the night,
Fortunately the real strong light is bright.

Daddy's Pearl
So you tell me she's a little cheater
She's a man eater
Well, that's all right
'cause i think i know her better
You can keep your chatter
And i know it's gonna be alright
Bite your tongue
You know i don't want to hear this
Bite your tongue
You know i've been told before
And i don't wanna hear it anymore
And you're not talking 'bout my girl
She is her daddy's pearl
Oh no
And your're not talking 'bout my girl
Oh oh oh
Everybody seems to get their kicks
Waiting for some fixation they ain't' got
That i'm gonna find out
Sooner or later
They're sure it's coming but i know it's not
Bite your tongue
You know i don't want to hear this
Bite your tongue
You know i've been told before
And i don't wanna hear it anymore
'cause you're not talking 'bout my girl, oh no
She is her daddy's pearl
Oh, oh, oh
She wouldn't hurt me for the world
Oh oh oh
Daddy's pearl
You know she's daddy's pearl
You know she's daddy's pearl
You know she's daddy's pearl
Bite your tongue
You know i don't want to hear this
Bite your tongue
You know i've been told before
And i don't wanna hear it anymore
'cause you're not talking 'bout my girl
She is her daddy's pearl
She wouldn't hurt me for the world
Oh oh oh

When reflecting upon it today, that the Pearl Harbor attack should have succeeded in achieving surprise seems a blessing from Heaven. It was clear that a great American fleet had been concentrated in Pearl Harbor, and we supposed that the state of alert would be very high.

Personal Preference
Prudence acted prudently.
She valued her virginity,
Unlike her fellow student Pearl
who chose to be a party girl.
Prudence was prepared to wait
until she changed her single state
She much preferred matrimony
Although her friend did not agree.
Pearl was convinced life should be fun
Had no regrets for what she’d done
In fact believed her way of life
would make her a much better wife.
When she was ready to get wed.
At least when asked that’s what she said.
Which one was right I do not know
that’s something only time will show.
Prudence chose to remain chaste.
Pearl thought celibacy a waste.
Both could be right quite possibly
What right have I to disagree.
