There is something feeble and a little contemptible about a man who cannot face the perils of life without the help of comfortable myths.

Too Many Myths
(Van Morrison)
Too many myths
People just assuming things that aren't true
There's too many myths
Coming between me and you
You might have your name up in lights
But you still have to keep your game uptight
Too many myths
Tell me, tell me how you gonna cope with this
Too many myths
You act like you've never been kissed
You put your name up in lights
And now you gotta keep your game uptight
You got problems
I got problems too
Everybody's gonna think
There must be something wrong with you because
There's just too many myths
Can't you see I'm just trying to stay in the game
Just too many myths
I'm just trying to maintain
Sure I got my name in lights
But I've still gotta keep my game uptight
[Instrumental break]
You got problems
And I got problems too
But that doesn't necessarily mean that
There's something wrong with you
There's just too many myths,
Baby I'm just trying to stay in the game
There's far too many myths
I'm just trying to maintain
I got my name up in lights
But I'm just trying to keep my game uptight

Approve With Each Nibble As You Taste It
Never try to justify,
The kind of life...
You like!
Feel comfortable and live it.
Never try to justify,
The kind of life...
You like!
Feel comfortable and live it.
What you choose for you and do,
Feel comfortable and live it.
No one but you can be you but you.
And make that choice to do what you choose.
With a taking of a bite out of life to taste.
Savoring it and enjoying this too!
Never try to justify,
The kind of life...
You like!
Feel comfortable and live it.
Never try to justify,
The kind of life...
You like!
Feel comfortable and live it.
What you choose for you to do,
Feel comfortable and live it.
No one but you can truly approve...
With each nibble as you taste it,
Without limits.

The ideals which have lighted my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth. The trite subjects of human efforts, possessions, outward success, luxury have always seemed to me contemptible.

I therefore claim to show, not how men think in myths, but how myths operate in men's minds without their being aware of the fact.

At the end of the day, whether or not those people are comfortable with how you're living your life doesn't matter. What matters is whether you're comfortable with it.

As you get older and ease your way into being a character actor you have to be comfortable with where you are in life and career, and I'm very comfortable with what I'm doing - working on projects I'm proud of.

When a man's mode of life is contemptible, it follows that his preaching is treated with contempt.
The Heart Cry
She turned the page of wounds and death
With trembling fingers. In a breath
The gladness of her life became
Naught but a memory and a name.
Farewell! Farewell! I might not share
The perils it was yours to dare.
Dauntless you fronted death: for me
Rests to face life as fearlessly.

Men do not invent Myths. They only invent fables, and tell lies. True Myths create themselves, and find their expression in the men who serve their purpose.

Off The Tracks Of Peace
From hostage to rasisms,
But the myths of love live on;
And like a poetry of freedom in the land of war! !
But the hostage of the myths had led us all off the tracks of peace.

It's surprising how many persons go through life without ever recognizing that their feelings toward other people are largely determined by their feelings toward themselves, and if you're not comfortable within yourself, you can't be comfortable with others.

Car Park
sitting in a car at a park
a comfortable seat for
a comfortable scene.
a bubbled filter of
a world too hard to
(mis) understand.
i hear life is what you make of it.
life is a mix of
fate and perseverance.
fate brings opportunity
and
perseverance ensures it.

Strong Mercy
My desires are many and my cry is pitiful,
but ever didst thou save me by hard refusals;
and this strong mercy has been wrought into my life through and through.
Day by day thou art making me worthy of the simple,
great gifts that thou gavest to me unasked---this sky and the light, this body and the
life and the mind---saving me from perils of overmuch desire.
There are times when I languidly linger
and times when I awaken and hurry in search of my goal;
but cruelly thou hidest thyself from before me.
Day by day thou art making me worthy of thy full acceptance by
refusing me ever and anon, saving me from perils of weak, uncertain desire.

Fables should be taught as fables, myths as myths, and miracles as poetic fantasies. To teach superstitions as truths is a most terrible thing. The child mind accepts and believes them, and only through great pain and perhaps tragedy can he be in after years relieved of them.
