Toilet Seats
While I am emulating Keats
My brother fabrics toilet seats,
The which, they say, are works of art,
Aesthetic features of the mart;
So exquisitely are they made
With plastic of a pastel shade,
Of topaz, ivory or rose,
Inviting to serene repose.
Rajahs I'm told have seats of gold,--
(They must, I fear, be very cold).
But Tom's have thermostatic heat,
With sympathy your grace to greet.
Like silver they are neon lit,
Making a halo as you sit:
Then lo! they play with dulset tone
A melody by Mendelssohn.
Oh were I lyrical as Yeats
I would not sing of toilet seats,
But rather serenade a star,--
Yet I must take things as they are.
For even kings must coyly own
Them as essential as a throne:
So as I tug the Muse's teats
I envy Tom his toilet seats.

In the House, Republican prospects have been buoyed by several successful rounds of redistricting, which have sharply reduced the number of competitive seats and given the Republicans a national advantage of at least a dozen seats.

Nor Was It Sought
Through whatever pain that is there I bear,
Unshown...
I do.
Without a need to be dared.
Or cloaking any hurt I may feel.
Keeping dramatics to myself,
I step!
That has become my reality.
I was not the one blessed,
With an appearance...
That accepted empathy!
Nor was it sought.

Premature Outbursts Later To Be Cursed
On automatic are dramatics,
With performances begun.
Those combat addicts,
Choose to pick their fights...
To declare what they have won.
Only,
To find themselves birthing...
Premature outbursts,
Later...
To be cursed!
On automatic are dramatics,
With performances begun.
Those combat addicts,
Choose to pick their fights...
To declare what they have won.
Only,
To find themselves birthing...
Premature outbursts,
Later...
To be cursed!
Only,
To find themselves birthing...
Activities done,
That can't...
Be reversed!
Premature outbursts,
Are later to be cursed.
Premature outbursts,
Are later to be cursed.
Premature outbursts,
Are later to be cursed.
Premature outbursts,
Are later to be cursed.

In Positions That Remain Ignored
Let's not talk about him being qualified.
Let's discuss the qualifications of those...
Who have been totally ineffective,
In positions that remain ignored...
By those who maintain control.
And allow those who claim they 'are' qualified...
To play games with semantics.
As fantasies are sustained...
On stages lit for images,
And captivating dramatics.

Cheap Seats
Cheap seats
This town aint big, this town aint small.
Its a little of both they say.
Our ball club may be minor league but at least its triple a.
We sit below the marlboro man, above the right field wall.
We do the wave all by ourself.
Hey ump, a blind man couldve made that call.
Chorus
We like our beer flat as can be.
We like our dogs with mustard and relish.
We got a great pitcher whats his name.
Well we cant even spell it.
We dont worry about the pennant much.
We just like to see the boys hit it deep.
Theres nothing like the view from the cheap seats.
The game was close, well call it a win.
Go off to toast the boys again.
That local band is back in town.
They got a kinda minor league sound.
Theyre not that bad, theyre not that good.
But all in all its understood.
We wanna dance, they wanna play.
We wouldnt have it any other way.
Chorus
Cheap seats
Now the majors called up oh whats his name.
And one more buildin rises tall.
And suddenly were all grown up.
And this old town not quite so small.
But Ill always miss the middle size town.
In the middle of the middle-west.
With no name pitchers and local bands,
And mustard and relish and all the rest.
Chorus
Cheap seats

I Felt Insulted
I once did a task,
I thought would make others pleased.
I accomplished this with sacrifice...
Hoping this would elevate their priorities.
But they were of limited mindsets.
A bigger picture they could not see.
And one day I got a knock on my door.
From two who came to say...
'We appreciate your efforts.
And the quality of your deeds.
If you want us we are here,
To take you where you wish to go.
To hand out some flyers to promote us...'
Excuse me?
Say what?
You've come to do that,
So I can advertise your abilities?
And accomodate 'my' needs?
For 'me' that is what you will do?
So I can continue to observe you sit?
And watch you eat on my time too?
I felt insulted.
They had no clue as to why!
So I closed the door.
On them and that project...
I said a final goodbye!
And they wanted to get paid.
With a few tickets they sold.
And with lesser time spent,
To promote themselves made!
These Negroes were bold.
They had no clue as to why,
I felt insulted.
So I closed the door.
Not to re-open it again!
On them and that project...
I said a final goodbye!
'When folks begin to take advantage...
Disadvantage your input,
From those who do the taking.
And be sure the time you take for yourself,
Is for you to make better use.
And no one else!
Disadvantage your input.
Make some time for yourself.'
I have.
And I thank You, Father.
That was well stated!
'Thank you!
You are too kind! '
You think?
'Well...
I think your desires to assist others,
Within a certain creativity...
To get them to feed themselves,
Is a bit ambitious!
You know how some folks can be,
When they perceive these things.
As if they do 'you' the favor!
And trust me...
Everytime I hear them in prayer,
I understand what you mean!
I gotcha back, bruh!
Don't feel like the lone ranger,
Kimosabee!
Me see with eyes clear,
As I gaze upon the horizon.
Fixed I am...
In your heart and mind.
In this hemisphere...
And beyond, all the time! '
Father?
'Yes, My son.'
Why is it, Father.
You seek and go for the dramatics?
'You know they are from Detroit? '
WHO Father?
'The DRAMATICS!
What and 'who' are you talking about? '

Ecopatriots
Ecopatriots paying attention,
Ecoes looking for some change in dynamics,
With earnest appeals in one minute spots,
Just chock full of dramatics.
The race is on so on with the insults,
Ecopatriots looking for results,
Nobody's too big for the job,
Any fool can rob.
Among dreadful conditions we look for the gaff,
Ecopatriots are good for a laugh,
Ecopatriots trying to make a sale,
Closing the deal before going to jail.

Back Row Of The Picture House (Fun Poem 31)
Sitting in the back row
of the picture house the other day,
as the lights went out
the lovers came out to play.
First it was arms around shoulders,
then came the closer move,
it was then the kissing began.
There was more action going on
in the seats in front of me,
than there was on the big screen.
At one point I thought,
I was at a wrestling match.
They need subtitles and an X rating
to describe what happened next.
As I do not have one,
I’ll let your imagination do it for me.
Now when the lights went on
during intermission time.
Each had gone back
to their corners of the ring,
but once the lights went out,
they started all over again.
What was happening off screen
was more interesting than what was on it.
Finally, the movie was over,
and I did not see one bit of it.
There was more happening in the seats
than there ever was on the screen.
Tomorrow I’ll have to come back again
to try to see the big picture through once again.
That will be the third time this week.

One Of Us Better Say Something Soon
I think you should address this before I do.
If I do it,
My approach would be considered too brutal.
My tongue too tinged with tart and darting expletives.
Plus I'm prone to use theatrics and overblown dramatics.
And you...
Like to poison them with kindness.
As if a choice is theirs to take.
And delivered truth is painful.
It's not a sweet experience.
Both of us know that!
'They're going to be angry with us.
They are not accustomed to honesty.'
Well...
One of us better say something soon!
Those aliens are eating all the fried chicken in the kitchen.
And I aint gon' spend my Sunday cooking.
Tell them we have some visitors.
They aint looking freaky or weird.
But they are not from here either.
And they have come to make some demands on their discipline.
And 'this' I want to see myself!

Greenwich Hospital
Come to these peaceful seats, and think no more
Of cold, of midnight watchings, or the roar
Of Ocean, tossing on his restless bed!
Come to these peaceful seats, ye who have bled
For honour, who have traversed the great flood,
Or on the battle's front with stern eye stood,
When rolled its thunder, and the billows red
Oft closed, with sudden flashings, o'er the dead!
Oh, heavy are the sorrows that beset
Old age! and hard it is--hard to forget
The sunshine of our youth, our manhood's pride!
But here, O aged men! ye may abide
Secure, and see the last light on the wave
Of Time, which wafts you silent to your grave;
Like the calm evening ray, that smiles serene
Upon the tranquil Thames, and cheers the sinking scene.

Static
The TV's on and it's all static
Stagnant channels of newsfeed and I'm sick
Of forecasted weathers of hostility.
Can't we acclimate to prosperity?
Why must there be the heavy storm panic?
Breaking stories—cracking lightning—roll thick
Through an air of high pressure dramatics
And dark clouds ripe with volatility.
It's all static.
Roaring thunder rumbling from fanatics
Scares the scurrying people—erratic—
From their scandals and their liabilities.
The washed-out concept of civility
Broadcasts bolts of something bureaucratic.
It's all static.

It's All Mathematics
You+me=understanding
Us+understanding=communic ation
Communication+understanding=a bond
A bond+loyalty=love
Love+commitment=togetherness
A bond understanding togetherness,
Between you and me...
Equals communication and love.
It's all mathematics that minuses dramatics!
There can be no division once we've made this decision.

A Taste of Artistic Temper
Just because I write,
Don't think I'm lightweight on my toes.
A few got that confused...
And found themselves with bloodied noses!
My father taught me how to box,
And my mother taught me to play baseball...
Which I played a lot and enjoyed!
I didn't find myself into the creative arts...
It found me.
Some folks think I'm delusional.
Until they get a taste of artistic temper!
And it can switch from hot to cold.
Oh...
I love to cook,
And prepare my body for any type of touch!
Invitation only...of course!
I hate to be rude to anyone left outside knocking!
It adds too much flair to the dramatics,
I've already setup and prepared!
'Hello...
Welcome to my moment! '

The best bullfighter is the one in the box seats.
Dramatics Guild
singing and dancing
pointing to a you,
nobody, nobody but you,
crying and begging
for love and then
jumping for joy by reason
of a newly found
self: independent and
exploring, and happy
to be alone, this,
that, and this and that,
pure dramatics guild.
inside the room
the study lamp lights till dawn
writing a thesis
of human affairs
setting aside emotions
black and white in thinking
ablaze in logical deductions
this is his lady
reason and dogma
that is the truth of his
being and you have
never known
what twists await
at the end of this
deliberation.

Evening walk
Aimless mind slap bang
Coated out to spring
Dressed up, bear body hiding
Set out the old road along
The bus or the tram
Unless may be the train
To right or the left no plan
Time and space came
The side where I belonged to
The tram was on way from left to
Undecided space came think to
Opened the door just get into
Passengers were on seats
Passersby were in streets
Seemed to be direct targets
Looking at their end points
Planned and minded among
Blank and aimless I am
Getting down one by one
One and only in I am
Reverse way to the direction
Same as the tram to go again
Waiting for till times come
End or the beginning no aim
Passengers were on seats
Passersby were in streets
Driver is on the seat
I am also on my seat
All they know their aim
I don't have a plan
Left or the right same
Just for the pass time
