Why don't you get out of that wet coat and into a dry martini?

A Drink With Something In It
There is something about a Martini,
A tingle remarkably pleasant;
A yellow, a mellow Martini;
I wish I had one at present.
There is something about a Martini,
Ere the dining and dancing begin,
And to tell you the truth,
It is not the vermouth--
I think that perhaps it's the gin.

Mya's Martini
Martini the little shitsu was cute as can be,
Wagging his tail so carefree.
by the ocean with good friend Suzy.
Now he was very aware,
for when he got scared,
he hid under Mya’s desk
and there he would rest,
his head on Mya’s small feet,
then he’ld look up for a treat.
“Now why did you name him Martini? ”
I asked Mya quizzically one day.
Then Mya turned her head to say,
“Well, this is the story Sue Chevalier,
“Martini was named after the club
where people like to dance,
I met my husband Ron
there by circumstance.”
Now all 3 of them live together by the sea,
these are my sweet memories of
the Shitsu dog named Martini.

Suicide
Martini on the rocks
Spilled over the tabletop
Wetting the Oakwood
Like a chemical spillage
Another stunned moment
The vacant chairs
Wondered, why on earth
The spill ever took place
No one has attended to the beverage
Since the long leftover
If someone had needed someone
To feel lively, then the Martini
Shouldn't have spilled out
And abandoned without an enthusiast
Damage has been done indiscriminately
Nothing was perfect
When nothing went wrong
The Martini was just another victim
Of circumstances
Ironically, the other patrons
Were too high to notice
The mishaps
Two hours later
A headline ripped apart the nation
A young body of a woman
Was cut into two, under the train
With a note miraculously attached
‘Martini, my love needs a u-turn ‘

Pink Coat
The pink coat
She put on when it was cold
The pink coat
That was hung up when she was home
The pink coat
That kept her warm
The pink coat
That witnessed her first cut
The pink coat
She wore when she was crying
The pink coat
That knew her plans
The pink coat
That saw what happened
The pink coat
She had on when she walked in front of that truck
The pink coat
That witnessed it all
The pink coat
Had no one to keep warm, now
The pink coat
That wanted to tell everyone the truth about her
Just;
The pink coat

Dirty Martini
Two in the morning there's a drink in my hand
(Dirt, dirt, dirty Martini)
Nothing moving the place but sweat
I heard a rumour 'bout a Cajun band
(Dirt, dirt, dirty Martini)
The bartender says it's early yet
Wait the bartender says it's early yet
Too many olives in too much gin
Steppin' out in the City of Sin
Too much dirty rice and too many beans
Gettin' down and dirty down in New Orleans
Gettin' down and dirty down in New Orleans
Have another, i believe i will
(Dirt, dirt, dirty Martini)
And you can stir it with a dirty spoon
There's a perscription i've gotta fill
(Dirt, dirt, dirty Martini)
And the Doctor's gonna be here soon
Jimmy says the Doctor's gonna be here soon
Too many olives in too much gin
Steppin' out in the City of Sin
Too much dirty rice and too many beans
Gettin' down and dirty down in New Orleans
Gettin' down and dirty down in New Orleans

Sell Me A Coat
La la la la la la la la la la la la la
A winters day, a bitter snowflake on my face
My summer girl takes little backward steps away
Jack frost took her hand and left me, jack frost aint so cool
Sell me a coat with buttons of silver
Sell me a coat thats red or gold
Sell me a coat with little patch pockets
Sell me a coat cause I feel cold
And when she smiles, the ice forgets to melt away
Not like before, her smile was warming yesterday
See the trees like silver candy, feel my icy hand
Sell me a coat with buttons of silver
Sell me a coat thats red or gold
Sell me a coat with little patch pockets
Sell me a coat cause I feel cold
See my eyes, my window pane
See my tears like gentle rain
Thats the memory of a summer day
Sell me a coat with buttons of silver
Sell me a coat thats red or gold
Sell me a coat with little patch pockets
Sell me a coat cause I feel cold
Sell me a coat with buttons of silver
Sell me a coat thats red or gold
Sell me a coat with little patch pockets
Sell me a coat cause I feel cold

White Hat White Coat
To the late doug whalan.... from your daughter.....
White hat white coat and greying in hair
he would dance around the dance floor with plenty of flair
White hat white coat black pants to boot
the men would all say 'silly old coot'
Whitehat white coat and a big friendly smile
when he went to a dance he'd dress in style
White hat white coat and a beat in his feet
it's of to the dance and people to meet
White hat white coat and a scotch on the rocks he'd love to dance
and the men would all mock
White hat white coat asleep at the wheel
he's danced all night 'boy i know how he feels'
White hat white coat have been put to the test
it's time to go home for a well earned rest
White hat white coat clean shirt and socks too
he's all geard up and ready for round two
White hat white coat so tired and run down
close your eyes and dream of your nights on the town
White hat white coat you've seen better days
your torn around the edges and your starting to fray
White hat white coat the time's come for us to part
but always remember ' i love you with all my heart '

The Bikini
Dressed in her bikini,
sipping a martini
she drew the looks of every roving eye.
A white sandy spot,
the sun so hot
her skin was burned by and by.
Stripped of her bikini,
still sipping a martini
she saw her mirrored image in the night.
Two strips of white appeared,
her skin had been seared.
Her natural bikini was quite the sight.

The Apparitions
BECAUSE there is safety in derision
I talked about an apparition,
I took no trouble to convince,
Or seem plausible to a man of sense.
Distrustful of thar popular eye
Whether it be bold or sly.
Fifteen apparitions have I seen;
The worst a coat upon a coat-hanger.
I have found nothing half so good
As my long-planned half solitude,
Where I can sit up half the night
With some friend that has the wit
Not to allow his looks to tell
When I am unintelligible.
Fifteen apparitions have I seen;
The worst a coat upon a coat-hanger.
When a man grows old his joy
Grows more deep day after day,
His empty heart is full at length,
But he has need of all that strength
Because of the increasing Night
That opens her mystery and fright.
Fifteen apparitions have I seen;
The worst a coat upon a coat-hanger.

An Old Raincoat Wont Ever Let You Down
(rod stewart)
Did you ever stand and shiver while looking at a freezing river
Have you froze to the bone with just a coat to keep you warm
To keep you from a howlin wind to keep you from a howlin windnow listen
Have you perished in the drizzling rain
Tried to light ... a lift but all in vainwith your sock on your head
And that old coat on your backto keep you from the drizzlin rain
Oh to keep you from the drizzlin raingoodbyeone more time
Did you sleep in a graveyard when it snowedlaid your head on a .....
With the times on your face and that old coat on your back
That kept you from a-withering away good god
It just kept you from a-withering awayi know
And did you ride a lift on a steam trainnow listen
Had the misfortune not to pay your farethrown off the next stop
Thrown in the doorway of a shopwith that coat to keep you from the wind
Oh that old school coat to keep you from the windand that aint all
Have you had some good friends on the road with ya
Whod stand by you through thick and thinheres to kevin and ben, susie and len
And that coat which never lets you downit never, never, never lets you down
It never, never, never lets you downthat old coat which never lets you down
That old coat which never lets you down kept me from the drizzlin rain
And oh, kept me from the drizzlin rain

An Old Coat Rack
There is an old coat rack
that stands in the hall
and I’ve often wondered
whose coat once hung there.
It is much older than it looks,
probably a hundred years or more.
Many coats have hung on it
by people large and small.
I did hear that at one time
the coat rack belonged to Buffalo Bill,
so it is possible that Wild Bill Hickok
and Annie Oakley hung their coats
on it at sometime.
One will never know,
but now this little coat rack
with some history
belongs to only me.

Coat Of Many Colors
(dolly parton)
Back through the years I go wondering once again
Back to the seasons of my youth
I recall a box of rags that someone gave us
And how my mamma put these rags to use
There were rags of many colours, and every piece was small
And I didnt have a coat and it was way down in the fall
Mamma sewed the rags together, sewing ever piece with love
She made my coat of many colours, that I was so proud of
As she sewed she told the story from the Bible she had read
About a coat of many colours, joseph wore and they she said
Perhaps this coat will bring you, much love and happiness
And I just couldnt wait to wear it, and mamma blessed it with a kiss
My coat of many colours that mamma made for me
Made only rags, but I wore it so proudly
Although we had no money. oh I was rich as I could be
In my coat of many colours, my mamma made for me
So with patches on my breaches and holes in both my shoes
In my coat of many colours, I hurried off to school
Just to find the others laughing and makin fun of me
In my coat of many colours, my mamma made for me
Oh, I couldnt understand it, for I felt I was rich
And I told them of the love my mamma sewed in ever stitch
And I told them all the story, mamma told me while she sewed
And how my coat of many colours is worth more than all of their clothes
They didnt under stand it and I tried to make them see
That one is only poor only if they choose to be
Now I know we have no money, but Im as rich as I could be
In my coat of many colours, my mamma made for me
In my coat of many colours, my mamma just made for me

My coat, leave behind my coat and my belt,
Leave behind my coat and all that,
I don't want it back...
It's called undertown and it's over that way.
Some people leave in the morning,
Some people when they go to bed.
Inside, it's been rotting for a long time now,
Ever since I found out
I? not to blame if I get left out.
My coat, leave behind the looks, magazines and books.
Don't want it back.
We're going away, we're dropping the lot.
We'll take another tack if we ever get stopped.
It's the last plan we made before we came unglued.
Everything I touch is on the blink.
Gotta find a place to land, find a place to think.
Who are you people?

Happy birthday 007
So your Fifty years old now Mr Bond
your milestone gives us all a thrill
it's amazing you've lived this long
but then again you have a licence to kill.
To you The World is Not Enough
your attitude is Live and Let Die
but you've drank Martini's in the Casino Royale
and for the ladies you've had a GoldenEye.
You've tangled with lots of top villains
like Scaramanga who wasn't very nice
had a fight with the massive Jaws
and upset Blofeld in You Only Live Twice.
Death has escaped you by a mere second
and you knew you could Die Another Day
but like your Martini's your never stirred
and you've seduced beautiful women along the way.
So your still our top British spy 007
and On Her Majesty's Secret Service we say well done
so it's From Russia with love
and happy birthday to the Man with The Golden Gun!
James Bond celebrates fifty years in films this year
so I've incorporated some of his movie titles in this poem.
