I can install toilets. I know all about the wax ring. I can tile floors. I'm learning how to do basic wiring.

I'm Always Learning From Nature

For many years I have loved Nature but little about her I know
My knowledge of her is basic I know a finch from a crow
Recognize some birds by their songs know a wallaby from a roo
Know a wombat from an echidna and a rosella from a cockatoo
Just basic knowledge of Nature her secrets from us she hide
Nature who lives in Townparks and gardens and who reigns supreme in the countryside
I find her quite fascinating artists and writers she inspire
I can only sing her praises of which I never do tire
Nature is for everybody for to learn of and enjoy
And for decades of years I have loved her ever since I was a boy
Her secrets she has hidden from me so mysterious in her own way
I'm always learning from Nature learning from her every day
Yes I'm always learning from Nature and my wonder of her only grow
Yet from me her secrets she keeps hidden and little about her I know.

Learning

I'm learning to say thank you.
And I'm learning to say please.
And I'm learning to use Kleenex,
Not my sweater, when I sneeze.
And I'm learning not to dribble.
And I'm learning not to slurp.
And I'm learning (though it sometimes really hurts me)
Not to burp.
And I'm learning to chew softer
When I eat corn on the cob.
And I'm learning that it's much
Much easier to be a slob.

The basic needs

If you don’t have one
Wonder if you come
When you don’t come home,
It is a basic need.

If you don’t have one
Listen to the feelings
You want to share with,
It is a basic need.

If you don’t have one
Attend you away
In case you fall sick,
It is a basic need.

Food, clothes, shelter
Alone aren’t the basic needs.

The Usual Human Situation

it rains today
the dogs are inside the house
resting their heads on
beige tile floors

outside the roads are
busy with cellophane covered
pedicabs

women with colored umbrellas
men with their hats on
some children are playing under the rain
and as usual
i am in my own comfort zone
watching

Short; Silly: Ode To A Commode...Or....A Poem About Toilets

modern 'toilets' are large flushable porcelain bowls
which catch waste from both your and my exit holes.
i'm used to white ones with large flush-water tank.
a hidden pipe carries off stuff that often does smell rank.

some in japan were quite different……with no way to sit!
i'm glad i found 'my style' when t'was time to shit.
and if from toilet-paper usage you're leaning,
some toilets have the choice of an in-bowl shower, for cleaning.

toilet seats are sometimes colored, or cushioned, or even heated;
for me, more important (at times) is JUST to be SEATED!

toilets have changed since they were just holes in the ground.
i hope, when i 'need' a toilet, one's always around!

A Royal Flush!

The ‘Assuies’ are levying a tax on water output, so called the ‘flushing tax’,
Some are not flushing as much do reduce their water bill,
Some are going “outside” in their outback, if you will,
In this world wide economic slow down you can’t be lax.
Some businesses are getting to point of developing ‘waterless toilets’,
The composting toilets are great for saving water and money,
They come in a variety of styles and you have much to gain,

With the average household flushing up to 35,000 litres of potable water down the drain each year,
Ecoflo waterless toilets will save you from flushing water and money down the drain.

This is about as good as it gets,
I hope that this will not lead banning of the term flushing,
Because where will the USTA US Open be played?
In Compost Meadows?
That doesn’t sound right.

They Call This America, Dont They?

the cum stained prayers
written on tenement walls,
where brown eyed girls, head held high...
wear poverty's drench,
backs strong and straight,
amid the pale cries of babies birthing.
roaches scatter, bare feet skim the floors,
empty cupboards whispering moan.
food stamp dreams, two days away,
they call this America, dont they?

the trailer wrecked, paper thin walls,
duct taped tile by molded tubs.
the broke down truck, the mailbox spills,
unemployed and out of time.
box fans on stolen power,
dirt faced children, starving dogs.
an American flag, a worn out Bible...
they call this America, dont they?

the old couple melting, tiny apartment,
before a black and white tv.
half filled pills, empty Alpo cans,
yellow tinged pictures on the table.
a phone that didnt ring,
before it couldnt ring...
the sound of bones grinding to dust!
dont make much noise,
who gives a damn?
they call this America, dont they?

Surprise in Japan - Our teachers wash our toilets

after the lessons
our japanese teacher washes
the toilets we use

I was rather surprised when our japanese teacher in the school we went to in Ichikawa told us teachers take turn to wash the school toilets.
I suppose the school wanted to cut cost and the teachers did not mind since they loved teaching and the school.

Relics From The Past

We never thought they'd disappear
We took them all for granted
But now long gone, it seems quite clear
They've been permanently supplanted

Carbon paper, remember it?
It copied printed matter
Creating files in triplicate
It helped us save our data

Fashion concious men
Covered shoes with spatz
Fashionable women
Wore millinery hats

Cars with rumble-seats
In our driving apparatus
Were driven by elites
As a way of showing status

Since the Frigidaire's displaced it
The ice-box now seems crude
We've frigidly replaced it
As our way of cooling food

Fashionably in style
Oil-cloth covered floors
Now covered flooring tile
Is found on floors indoors

With wooden shafted clubs
Golf courses we abused
For golfing way-ward dubs
Now metal shafts are used

The list goes on and on
Of relics from the past
Looking back, they had their charm
It's sad some didn't last

Perhaps I'm too a relic
Passing through life's stage
Though presently idyllic
Not lasting past old age

The House From Hell

The house from hell is the home in which I do dwell.
And of this story I should most certainly tell.
Extension cords running from one end to the other.
And not just one, two, but three.
Such insanity of it too much on one breaker.
A fire waiting to happen.
I didn't wire the place.
The wiring is just so brittle, that when an outlet goes its about impossible to fix.
It all needs to be replaced.
Along with the plumbing and floors.
How bout some new doors and a set of stairs for the porch.
Free is not necessarily free.
Yes this was given to me.
But now I'm rethinking if I should of took it.
At least in the middle of winter.
I'll soon have the money.
But will it be soon enough.
I had no choice in waiting and debating.
Neither the place I was staying nor previous owners here would allow me that privilege.
But hopefully I still will prevail.
Another hit to the stomach just knocks a little more wind out of your sails.
It will take longer then I want.
But still I will go for it.
When an opportunity knocks you can not just deny it.

Too Much In-The-Love

A position of proposition kept.
Researched...
With a common sense,
Not academic!

I am not someone to invite to test.
But I've never met an obstacle...
That has of yet,
Made me unhappy because we've met.

'Cause I'm...
Too much in-the-love!
Yes,
I'm...
Just too basic.

I studied all the books in school.
And as a rule I found this true...
I am,
Too much in-the-love!
Yes!
And...
Just too basic.

My Masters and my Doctorate,
I got early in life.
And the military taught me...
To be,
Decisive!

A position of proposition kept.
Researched...
With a common sense,
Not academic!

'Cause I'm...
Too much in-the-love!
Yes,
In-the-LOVE!
And...
Just 'too' basic.

My 'degree' is in my 'own' history!
And my proposition spoken,
Is in my position...
Stated!

Too much in-the-love!
Yes,
In-the-LOVE!
And...
I'm Just TOO basic.

My Masters and my Doctorate,
I got early in life.
And the military taught me...
To be,
Decisive!
And today I'm delighted.
'Cause I'm...
Just too much,
In-the-LOVE!
Yes,
In-the-LOVE!
And...
Just too basic.

'Cause I'm...
Just 'too' much,
In-the-LOVE!
Yes,
In-the-LOVE!
And...
Just TOO basic.

So basic I am wide eyed.
And I'm...
Just 'too' much in-the-love.
Yes,
In-the-LOVE!
And...
Just TOO basic.
And earned to keep!

Yes I'm too much,
In-the-LOVE.
Just too much,
In-the-LOVE.
Yes too much,
In-the-LOVE.
Just too much.

Yes I'm too much,
In-the-LOVE.
Just too much,
In-the-LOVE.
Yes too much,
In-the-LOVE.
Just TOO much.

Ring Them Bells

Ring them bells yea heathen from the city that dreams
Ring them bells from the sanctuaries cross the valleys and streams
For they're deep and they're wide
And the world's on it's side
And time is running backwards and so is the bride
Ring them bells
Ring them bells
Ring them bells
Ring them bells!

Ring them bells Saint Peter where the four winds blow
Ring them bells with an iron hand so the people will know
That the rush hour is now on the wheel and the plow and the sun is going down upon the sacred cow
Ring them bells
Ring them bells
Ring them bells
Ring them bells

Ring them bells Saint Martha for the poor man's son
Ring them bells so the world will know that God is one
For the shepherd is asleep where the willows weep
And the mountains are filled with little lost sheep
Ring them bells for the blind and the deaf
Ring them bells for all of us who are left
Ring them bells for the chosen few who would judge the many when the game is through
Ring them bells for the time that flies

Day One

(max d. barnes/jimmy yeary)
Cold house
Just before dawn
Oh my god
This feels so wrong
Clouds roll in
And cover the sun
A new day begins
Day one
Day one
And it already feels like forever
Its over and done
So what can I do?
Day one
Of putting my life back together
Day one
Of learning to live without you
Gold ring
There on the bed
Oh my god
She meant what she said
No place to hide
No where to run
Just dying inside
Day one
Day one
And it already feels like forever
Its over and done
So what can I do?
Day one
Of putting my life back together
Day one
Of learning to live without you
Day one
Of learning to live without you

Running with glue

People warn you not to run with scissors,
But there's risks to be had with glue also,
There's tales without happy ever afters,
And it's even caused me personal woe,
As a child I foolishly ran with glue,
I'll tell you about that day which I rue,
Hopeful that the story will prevent you,
Enduring the ordeal that I went through,
I was running with the vile substance,
When I tripped on a broken flooring tile,
Which had a disastrous consequence,
Though I am quite sure it will tempt a smile,
I was stuck where I fell for near a week,
The way that I got free was quite unique,
But wasn't ideal as I'm now a freak,
Since I'm living with a tile on my cheek.

Rosary

Ring a Ring no Rosary
Standing in a row
Waiting for the hand to fall
God's children take a bow.

Ring a Ring no rosary
Shadow at the door
Sweat around his puffed up neck
Pain upon the floor.

Ring a Ring no Rosary
A whispered word to God
Judies, where's your mercy
From the stripping and the rod.

Ring a Ring no Rosary
Wipe away the tear.
Stained and dirty fingers
Garbing at my years.

Ring a Ring no Rosary
Now the pain is done
Christ upon his alter
Disciples in my Tomb.

One Room School

While traveling on vacation
Sometimes I come across
A one room school sitting alone
Its hopes and dreams are lost

You can almost hear the voices
Of children in the school yard
Giggling and running at recess time
For their tasks seemed very hard

Pig tails flying as little girls played
Petticoats peeking out
From under long pretty dresses
Boys laughing as they run about

Can you imagine what it was like
For teachers to teach several ages
Their learning ability so different
As they were all at various stages

Times have certainly changed now
Though learning has the basic rules
But it’s fun to imagine what it was like
Long ago in a one room school!

Learning To Live

(without your love)
I still have your picture
By the bed where you used to lay
I still have the memories
That you aint goin from day to day
I still miss the little things
You used to do and say
Ill always believe in love
Come what may
Im learning to live
Without your love
All I can do is carry on
Living without you
Im learning to live
Without your love
Now that youre gone
Whatever the emptiness
Whatever the pain
I wont change my love for you
Ill always feel the same
Im learning to live
Without your love
All I can do is carry on
Living without you
Im learning to live
Without your love
Now that youre gone
Im learning to live
Im learning to live
Im learning to live
Im learning to live
I still call your number
Im still in love with you
I still believe in love
Maybe that will see me through
Im learning to live
Without your love
All I can do is carry on
Living without you
Im learning to live
Without your love
Now that youre gone

London Bells

Two sticks and an apple,
Ring the bells at Whitechapel.

Old Father Bald Pate,
Ring the bells Aldgate.

Maids in white aprons,
Ring the bells at St. Catherine`s.

Oranges and Lemons,
Ring the bells at St. Clement`s.

When will you pay me?
Ring the bells at the Old Bailey.

When I am rich,
Ring the bells at Fleetditch.

When will that be?
Ring the bells of Stepney.

When I am old,
Ring the great bell at Paul`s.

Love Plus One

I, I went off to the right
Without saying goodbye, goodbye
Where does it go from here?
Is it down to the lake I fear?
Ay ah ah ah ah ah
Ay ah ah ah ah ah
Then I call
Ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring)
La la love plus one
Ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring)
When I call love
Give love some soul
If I may be quite so bold
Where does it go from here?
Is it down to the lake I fear?
Ay ah ah ah ah ah
Ay ah ah ah ah ah
Then I call
Ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring)
La la love plus one
