What is the appropriate behavior for a man or a woman in the midst of this world, where each person is clinging to his piece of debris? What's the proper salutation between people as they pass each other in this flood?

Salutation
In one salutation to thee, my God,
let all my senses spread out and touch this world at thy feet.
Like a rain-cloud of July
hung low with its burden of unshed showers
let all my mind bend down at thy door in one salutation to thee.
Let all my songs gather together their diverse strains into a single current
and flow to a sea of silence in one salutation to thee.
Like a flock of homesick cranes flying night and day
back to their mountain nests
let all my life take its voyage to its eternal home
in one salutation to thee.

In the long run, a society's strength depends on the way that ordinary people voluntarily behave. Ordinary people matter because there are so many of them. Voluntary behavior matters because it is hard to supervise everyone all the time. … Successful societies — those which progress economically and politically and can control the terms on which they deal with the outside world— succeed because they have found ways to match individual self-interest to the collective good. The behavior that helps each person will, as a cumulative ethos, help the society as a whole.

Unconscious
I’m blind, I’m stubborn
I don’t need anybody else
But somehow, I don’t know
I’m unconsciously clinging for warmth
I’m tough, I’m strong
I could run my world alone
But somehow, I don’t know
I’m unconsciously clinging for attention
I want to go, I want to disappear
I don’t want to live in this world again
But somehow, I don’t know
I’m unconsciously clinging for hope
I’m filthy, I’m unworthy
Everybody calls me a sinner
But somehow, I don’t know
I’m unconsciously clinging for love
I’m fool, I’m hopeless one
All doors are closed for me
But somehow, I don’t know
I’m unconsciously clinging for dream

Behavior
BEHAVIOR--fresh, native, copious, each one for himself or herself,
Nature and the Soul expressed--America and freedom expressed--In it
the finest art,
In it pride, cleanliness, sympathy, to have their chance,
In it physique, intellect, faith--in it just as much as to manage an
army or a city, or to write a book--perhaps more,
The youth, the laboring person, the poor person, rivalling all the
rest--perhaps outdoing the rest,
The effects of the universe no greater than its;
For there is nothing in the whole universe that can be more effective
than a man's or woman's daily behavior can be,
In any position, in any one of These States.

The proper behavior all through the holiday season is to be drunk. This drunkenness culminates on New Year's Eve, when you get so drunk you kiss the person you're married to.

Clinging Back
When you see a man come walking down through George Street loose and free,
Suit of saddle tweed and soft shirt, and a belt and cabbagetree,
With the careless swing and carriage, and the confidence you lack—
There is freedom in Australia! he’s a man that’s clinging back.
Clingin’ back,
Holdin’ back,
To the old things and the bold things clinging back.
When you see a woman riding as I saw one ride to-day
Down the street to Milson’s Ferry on a big, upstanding bay,
With her body gently swaying to the horse-shoes’ click-a-clack,
You might lift your hat (with caution)—she’s a girl who’s clinging back.
Clinging back,
Swinging back.
To the old things and the bold things clinging back.
When you see a rich man pulling on the harbour in a boat,
With the motor launches racing till they scarcely seem to float,
And the little skiff is lifting to his muscles tense and slack,
You say “Go it” to a sane man. He’s a man that’s clinging back.
Clinging back,
Swinging back,
To the old things and the bold things clinging back.
When you see two lovers strolling, arm-in-arm—or round the waist,
And they never seem to loiter, and they never seem to haste,
But indifferent to others take the rock or bush-hid track
You be sure about their future, they’re a pair that’s clinging back.
Clinging back,
Holding back,
To the old things and the bold things clinging back.
I, a weary picture writer in a time that’s cruel plain,
Have been clinging all too sadly to what shall not come again,
To what shall not come and should not! for the silver’s mostly black,
And the gold a dull red copper by the springs where I held back.
Clinging back,
Holding back,
To the old things and the cold things clinging back.
But if you should read a writer sending truths home every time,
While his every “point” goes ringing like the grandest prose in rhyme,
Though he writes the people’s grammar, and he spreads the people’s “clack,”
He is stronger than the Public! and he’ll jerk the mad world back.
Yank it back,
Hold it back,
For the love of little children hold it back.

It Is There
It is there!
In the midst,
And is waiting.
Wanting with intent,
To have it all.
And not just a piece.
It is there!
In the midst,
And is waiting.
Submit,
That's it.
That's all It wishes.
For total and complete honesty.
Not something selected as suggested to pick.
And decide with this to leave as an appeasement.
As if It would not know,
How shallow one's soul.
It wishes to bestow upon you happiness and gifts.
But wanting first your loyalty,
Is what 'It' insists.
It is there!
In the midst,
And is waiting.
Forever there is eternity!
And in the midst of it,
It sits as 'Is'.
And in this midst of this that 'Is'...
Is The Creator.
Waiting with wishes to just have us believe!

Left To Wilt And Languish
It will rain to replenish,
That which needs to be nourished.
It will flood to clear debris,
To rejuvenate an encouragement of growth...
That allows a renewal to begin once again,
To restore a drought of life left to wilt and languish.
And has begun to dull with dust to cover in lament.
It will rain to replenish,
That which needs to be nourished.
It will flood to clear debris,
To rejuvenate an encouragement of growth...
Anguishing.
And...
Left to wilt and languish.

People
We travel single-o
Maybe were lucky but, I dont know
With them just let one kid fall down
And seven mothers faint
I guess were both happy
But maybe, we aint
People, people who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world
Were children needing other children
And yet letting our grown up pride
Hide all the need inside
Acting more like children than children
Lovers are very special people
Theyre the luckiest people in the world
With one person, one very special person
A feeling deep in your soul
Says you were half now youre whole
No more hunger and thirst
But first be a person who needs people
People who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world

A Piece of This
A son trying to help his mother who’s 83 in to the tub to bathe hears words that cut him to his very soul, “You must want a piece of this.” Now, as he hold back his hurt and wipe the spit of his face that his mother had spat on him thoughts begin to race through his mind. How could the woman who gave birth to me think that I would want to do that to her? She comforted me when I was afraid at night. She fed me when I hungry. Yes she was the first woman I loved just like any son would love his mother. But no I have no Oedipus complex. So no I don’t want a piece of that. Wow, this woman is the Grandmother to my son I wonder if I was not here and he was would she say to him “You must want a piece of this.” I know Alzheimer has taken over her mind and she is not the loving mother I once knew but it stills hurts to hear her say, “You must want a piece of this.”
It is difficult to imagine how any behavior in the presence of another person can avoid being a communication of one's own view of the nature of one's relationship with that person and how it can fail to influence that person.

how situation changes
sometimes we do not notice
you look at the child's face
you think it is still the usual girl's face
the usual humiliation comes with a name
a old name
you fail to recognize that beyond
the girl's face is a strong woman
that you fail to recognize
you refuse to give way to the changes
look at you
miserable as a rat jumping from the boat
just to save yourself
and yet when you see the girl in that
woman's face
you keep on clinging to what was once great
falling like debris
upon the present citadel of broken pieces
how can you not see the misery in you now?
poor as a rat but prouder still like a lion
without teeth
disregarding the near death
ahead of you
miserable rich, wretched by the price
of your time
look at you
how can you not see that rat in you

Keep It Proper
Keep it proper!
You never know on you who might peep.
When you do a thing discreet.
You never know on you who might peep.
It's best that you keep it proper.
You never know on you who might peep.
Especially when you're seen in the streets.
You never know on you who might peep.
Keep,
It
Proper.
You never know on you who might peep.
Distorting what you do to deceive.
You never know on you who might peep.
It's best that you keep it proper.
You never know on you who might peep.
When a seeker seeks a weakness to heat.
You never know on you who might peep.
Controversy lovers love it,
More obscene.
People feed sensations that wound and bleed.
With a caring less of who's affected by misdeeds
Keep,
It
Proper.
You never know on you who might peep.
Distorting what you do to deceive.
You never know on you who might peep.
Yes it's best that you keep it proper.
You never know on you who might peep.
When a seeker seeks a weakness to heat.
You never know on you who might peep.
It's best
That you keep it proper.
You never know on you who might peep.
Yes it is best
That you keep it proper.
You never know on you who might peep.
Yes it is best that you keep it proper,
That business to express on the streets.
You never know,
On you
Who might peep.

Liars No More
I had a person once told me,
maybe 1 year ago times 3
“I don’t associate with people that lie”,
then turned around a year later or so deny-
What they were out for in their truck,
well I guess he can pass the buck.
Then there was a person who said
he would be a millionaire in a year,
he lives in a fantasy world, he wasn’t sincere.
Now people can lie because they are afraid,
people can lie because have something to hide,
whatever the reason you can never figure out why.
One day they maybe come truthful with you,
maybe become honest and give you some clues,
until then you and them are not true friends.

Locked Doors And Slow Closing Walls
In the aftermath of truth.
And the leaving behind,
The debris of wasted time.
Will those minds still clinging on,
To hopes and dreams...
Of turning back the clock,
Block and find themselves trapped...
Behind their locked doors and slow closing walls,
With hearts pounding and feeling chased...
Each step they take in a space,
Where a pacing being done becomes limited?
Will those minds still clinging on,
To hopes and dreams...
Of turning back the clock,
Ever discover...
What time for them it is?

Phat
The word 'fat' is a term,
That 'skinny people' use,
Because they don't know what else to say,
When they see a 'fat person.'
No one has to be so rude about it,
When they see a 'fat person' eating ice cream,
Or sitting around watching others,
But some 'skinny people' don't understand to just dropp a conversation.
The word 'rude' is what 'fat people' use when someone makes fun of them,
'Fat people' are all over the world,
And yet - 'skinny people' don't want to accept the fact that 'fat people' are in this cruel world,
So some 'skinny people' have to act like they're all that and be mean to others.
There are people in this world that are 'low class' and are different from the people in the 'higher class, '
Because some people in the 'lower class' goes into depression and eat,
Because of the events happening in their life,
And so they become 'fat.'
But what 'skinny people' explain,
Is that they are slobs and can't eat normal instead of shoving food down their throat,
But what 'fat people' explain,
Is that they try to lose weight, but some of them can't because it's hard.
'Skinny people' make fun of them and 'fat people' let them,
Because some 'skinny people' don't know how it feels like to be 'fat, '
And some 'skinny people' call 'fat people' ugly and of course 'fat, '
But what 'skinny people' don't know is that we all are phat.

My quotations/ What Life has taught me
1-When you are illeterate you are poor
When you are illiterate and a woman you are much poorer.
When you are a woman, poor and illiterate you are the poorest creature on earth.
2-All the best things in life are free: happiness, wisdom, friendship, love, brotherhood, honesty, integrity..If you can have all these you are the richest person in this world....Why are you unhappy? ? ?
3-Don't judge people on what you can see, what you can't see is much more important.
4-Think great, work hard, love yourself as you are and you will be the happiest person in the world.
5-Bees and roses cure both our eyes and hearts.
6-Life is so simple and beautiful but so short and unfaithful.
7-Knowledge is worth all the gold of earth.
