A postmodern explanation of poetry: for Mike who asked
The brain and spinal cord
contain a hundred billion neuron cells
backed up by many more glial cells..
each neuron surrounded by its dendrons
like a tree’s inquisitive, hungry roots
or a seacreature’s gently waving fronds
making synapses, new connections
between what one cell holds, and another,
as a tree’s roots seek its heavenly nourishment in earth;
so that, each time two words of poetry,
put together for the first time by a poet
in just that way, strike your mind or heart,
one of those neurons cries silently ‘Aha! ’
as poetry’s roots and fingers touch its core;
two neurons now joined in holy bedrock..
and since our mind, some say, is but our store
of memories previously received,
then poetry enjoyed, remembered, builds our greater mind;
and all this, like the champions of the Olympics,
so appropriately named after that godly height,
might well be described by corny commentators as,
sheer poetry in motion…

Summation(Pleiades)
Silent the old pair broods
Silence alone can soothe
So many years passed by
So much of good and bad
Summation accounts there
Sought, got, lost, all gone past
So left is what? they muse

We Have A Technical
We have a random on the westside
Personality malfunction
He says I cant give you anything at all
Just a room with a bad view of you
He sent a letter to a downstat
Saying sorry that I missed you
But I cant think of anything to do
Hes addicted to the time track
We have a technical
We have a technical
Hes in a hotel where they all go
Saying boy, Ive lost my memory
Its so surprising
Just how quickly things can end
Like a hero on a platform of friends
This table is so crowded
With people that I dont know
And I never really turn
My thoughts on you
So the image breaks down again
We have a technical
We have a technical
I suppose its very shady
At least until the lights go out
Advertising posters on the wall
And the young boys singing softly
Do they ever come back
Or is it always at the wrong time
I could crawl around the floor
Just like Im real
And move a hand in front of my eyes
We have a technical
We have a technical

Questioning the nature and implications of liminal instances necessarily involves failure, if only in the specifically technical sense of entering spaces where prevailing criteria of success scarcely apply.

Remembering A Memory Under The Moon
the way your eyes look at the way they look at you
you generate an electricity of meanings
neuron to another neuron making synapses of my static existence
images of lonely shadows grow like leaves in those illuminated trees
by the promise of the moon
that silently sails upon the seas of my mind

Will
Dissect a passing notion into parts,
look deep within the workings of the mind,
observe the neuron map an idea charts
and study each synaptic cleft confined.
It's staggering, to count the steps involved
and contemplate our ignorance of how
the thought deterministically evolved
and registered succinctly in the brow.
This cavalcade of causes and effects
electrical and chemical, in train,
requires aware reaction which reflects
the impetus of pleasure and of pain.
Unconscious hidden pathways underlie
the unfree will which constitutes an ‘I'.

Mania
Hyperactive elation and hot rapture,
Excited clench of hands, rubbed over psyche,
Does depressively and belatedly capture,
Desired object in framed mentality,
Motivated by day notion of happy magic,
Brainwave bouncing along to cheered neuron,
Such minds wasteful of productive plus pragmatic,
Maniacal brainstorm is calamity cast from,
Counteractive serotonin privation,
Accelerating synaptic syndrome,
Body shuddering in horripilation,
As maximum overdrive spins up and kicks home,
Twist of mortal glee, altering reality,
For the hearts of men are held by fantasy.

Mind be harp, strings be thoughts
Ego be plectrum
Nous be best, Best be choice

Best be thoughts, best be harmony
Mind be harp, best be melody
Best be continuum, best be life
Best be nous, best be bliss

heads like hurricanes navigate through neuron rains hearts like summer storms to our embraces we are born we are the innocent holy ghosts in every wish we are the guilt within a wish fulfilled tonight we found our fall in neuron floods with cardiac arresting acts we camouflage hands like autumn breeze purest hands hold empathy eyes like winter calm a quiet introspective dawn

All Fired Up
A burst of speed is all I need
To set me free
A flagging start that stirs the heart
To ecstasy
Raging away I'll go far
Time waits for no man
So reach for the stars
I'm all fired up
A bolt of light that sears the night
Of things supreme
To chase the sun, forever on
And live the dream
Forcing a system aside
Too fast for this life
My mind's open wide
I'm fired up
All fired up
Fired Up
All fired up
I'm soaring, freefalling
With all emotions roaring
Like lighting, like thunder
I'll rip the world asunder
Let's go
Hold on
[Lead Break]
I'm soaring, freefalling
With all emotions roaring
Like lighting, like thunder
I'll rip the world asunder
Raging away I'll go far
Time waits for no man
So reach for the stars
I'm fired up
All fired up
Fired up
All fired up
Fired up

The Right Combination
Two people, together
It was just a dream until you came along
My heart was waiting just for you
Tomorrow, forever
We both heard these promises for far too long
And now you make the words come true
So touch me now
I need to have you close tonight
And show me how
You can me feel this way
# you and me, we are the right combination
For love, were all we need
Its just you and me, we make the right combination
Straight from the heart, love is the key
Cant keep it, a secret
Everything I feel is written on my face
I cant hide my heart from you
You hold me, is magic
In your arms the world becomes a better place
Now I know what love can do
Here we go
Exactly where the road will lead us
I dont know
I just know that youll be there
# you and me, we are the right combination
For love, were all we need
Its just you and me, we make the right combination
Straight from the heart, love is the key
And whenever you, Im there
Every stumble and fall, I share
Ill be yours through it all
Coz I care, about you baby
Its so easy to see, so strong
Now I know you and me, belong
Ill be by your side forever....
# you and me, we are the right combination
For love, were all we need
Its just you and me, we make the right combination
Straight from the heart, love is the key

The technical is not just the machinery. The technical is a disposition to life.
To address questions of scientific responsibility does not necessarily imply that one needs technical competence in a particular field (e.g. biology) to evaluate certain technical matters.
