I went to visit my father to tell him that I was going to go to college and become an architect - that was my dream. I was like, yeah I graduated from school, but it's not like you showed up for that. But all he was worried about is whether or not I wanted money from him.

Child Prodigy
If I can accept that you are 48.
Why can't you accept I was born in 1967?
'But we both graduated from high school in 1965! '
AND...
Your point is WHAT?
'What you are declaring is impossible.'
HOW?
I can not help that I was a child prodigy,
And was issued a diploma...
Two years before my birth.
One of us is lieing and has a lapse of memory.
In fact...
When I attended the 10th high school reunion,
In '75...
I was 'still' shedding my baby teeth.
Many of my 'old' classmates could not remember me.
Because I was looking too young.
'Why are you lieing? '
Me? Lieing?
I am appalled!
And why are you jealous?
I can not help that I am gifted with talents.

Nobody Gets Off In This Town
Nobody gets off in this town
Trains dont even slow down
My high school sweethearts married and gone
They met on a bus to san antone
The greyhound stops! somebody gets on
But nobody gets off in this town
Nobody gets off in this town
Old folks round here wear a frown
Now let me see if I can set the scene
Its a one-dog town and hes old and mean
Theres one stop light but its always green
Nobody gets off in this town
Nobody gets off in this town
High school colors are brown
They cant drag main because it kicks up dust
Their cars and their dreams are all starting to rust
The high school dances are always a bust
Nobody gets off in this town
Nobody gets off in this town
They oughta just tear it down
Cause in the winter you freeze and in the summer you fry
Utility bills the only thing that gets high
Id go for a drink but this county is dry
Nobody gets off
Nobody gets off
Nobody gets off in this square old merry-go-round
No, nobody gets off in this town

In School
in school,
when i saw you
i intuited i have found
my lost world in you
i wish i could act
to be appreciated
by you in school.
in school,
it would be too sad
to narrate the ordeal
i have been through
i wonder if its best
i had met you
in the school.
in school,
though i had not said it
there has been so many ways
that i have shown it
my actions had done
whatever i wanted to say
at school.
in school,
i never thought
being in love
could take me to madness
well, it is better than
leaving me in sadness
in the school.
in school,
when i approached you
i knew i was silly
it was because
suddenly,
i forgot who i was
in school
in school,
why do you sneer
when i am near
it really breaks me
just tell me what to do
to get a room from you
in and out of school.
in school,
sometimes though it is hard
i guess i must let go
some things i wish to have
though good things also
could be found elsewhere
as it has been in school.

Factories called Schools
Before we went to school,
We had so much fun,
We did all we wanted,
Basking in the sun.
When we grew so much,
We had to go to school,
Everyone was there,
No one left behind.
When we went to school,
We were told what to do
Fun was gone in our hearts,
our soul, body, and mind.
We all became robots,
Fulfilling the school's wish,
Five more years of school,
My heart was cold as ice.
Now that we left school,
We wanted our old fun back,
Yet it would not come back,
No matter how hard we tried.

Back In The Days
When I was in high school, [1]
When I was in high school, [2]
I was very loud. [1]
I was very shy. [2]
I had a lot of friends, [1]
I had little friends, [2]
my parents were proud, [1]
my parents lived a lie. [2]
When I was in high school, [1]
When I was in high school, [2]
prom was coming next week. [1]
prom was soon coming up. [2]
Daddy bought me a dress, [1]
Momma took me to a shop, [2]
So nervous I couldn't breathe. [1]
bought me a black tux. [2]
When I was in high school, [1]
When I was in high school, [2]
I was the prettiest of them all. [1]
I wasn't noticed well. [2]
There's this boy I barely noticed, [1]
The prettiest girl in school... [2]
is so handsome and so tall. [1]
so pretty and so swell. [2]
When I was in high school, [1]
When I was in high school, [2]
he reached to hold my hand. [1]
I reached for her hand. [2]
As nervous as he was, [1]
My heart shook; my voice was weak, [2]
he asked me to the dance. [1]
I asked her to the dance. [2]
When I was in high school, [1]
When I was in high school, [2]
after the prom I got the news. [1]
I'm to go to war next week. [2]
He was drafted in the army, [1]
I wish there was a way, [2]
and to be sent off too soon. [1]
all I could do was pray. [2]
When I was in high school, [1]
When I was in high school, [2]
I watched him be taken away. [1]
I told her, 'I love you.' [2]
That tall and handsome man, [1]
Tears fell down her cheeks, [2]
is still in my heart to this day. [1]
her hand in marriage; can't take me away. [2]

Not Such A Bad Boy
I laughed at the teachers who taught in my school
They kept one arm bandits in the swimming pool
They dont understand me but they never will
And if was there Id be telling them still
Im not such a bad boy no more, no more, no more
Im not such a bad boy no more, no more, no more
I followed the leader into her tent
But nobody told me that she owed some rent
She wanted to love me, I wanted to go
But she taught me things that I needed to know
Im not such a bad boy no more, no more, no more
Im not such a bad boy no more, no more, no more
Im not such a bad boy no more, no more, no more
Im not such a bad boy no more, no more, no more
She wanted to love me, I wanted to go
Well she taught me things that I needed to know
Im not such a bad boy no more, no more, no more
Im not such a bad boy no more, no more, no more
I talked to my lawer, he picked up my bail
Wont someone get me out of this lousy jail
Were both in agreement that grime never pays
And I should be out in a couple of days
Im not such a bad boy no more, no more, no more
Im not such a bad boy no more, no more, no more
Im not such a bad boy no more, no more, no more
Im not such a bad boy no more, no more, no more

From High School
Don’t you feel that we really belong because
There are windmills in your eyes
Darker than for your mother’s sadness when she goes
Away into the loneliness in her kitchen:
And there doesn’t have to be any more reason for these
Tattoos except that I went away to Spain so many odd years
Ago:
I barely graduated high school: a truant with a purple
And silver jaw who is no longer beautiful-
Lost so long ago: kidnapped by the long extinctions of fireworks:
Each peeling whistle strangely reminiscent of our lives together,
Until collected under another school bus, I have nothing
Else to do but to listen to the long day as it rains
In fake knives- and my Muse named Alma turns in,
Frowning over my misuse of the queens language and all of
My scars, scarred like a spearing pylon
Presumptuous in the bay that the terrapins circle, with jokes
And farts, as she bites her fingernails,
And the green cannons bask in the seashells of the afternoon sky:
It might as well be Easter with the beauty resurrected there:
And the airplanes like metamorphosed school buses,
And the stewardesses languishing there, high atop the
Revolutions and serving drinks, smiling with the affable
Insouciance that I remembered all of my sweet hearts giving to me
From high school.
