Play In The Sunshine
Oooh doggies!
We wanna play in the sunshine
We wanna be free
Without the help of a margarita or exstacy
We wanna kick like we used 2
Sign up on the dotted line
We gonna dance every dance
Like its gonna be the last time
We got 2 play in the sunshine
Turn all the lights up 2 10
I want 2 meet u (meet u), kiss u (kiss u),
Love u (love u), and miss u (miss u)
Do it all over again, do it all over again
We gonna play in the sunshine
Were gonna get over
Im feelin kind of lucky 2 night
Im gonna find my 4-leaf clover
Before my life is done
Some way, some how, Im gonna have fun
Play in the sunshine
We gonna love all our enemies
Till the gorilla falls off the wall
Were gonna rock him
Were gonna roll him
Were gonna teach him that love will make him tall (somehow)
Aah, pop goes the music
When the big white rabbit begin 2 talk
And the color green will make your best friends leave ya
It will make them do the walk
But thats cool
Cuz one day, everyday will be a yellow day
And lets play
We gonna play in the sunshine
Were gonna get over
Im feelin kind of lucky 2 night
Im gonna find my 4-leaf clover
Before my life is done
Some way, some how, Im gonna have fun
Play, play, play, play, play, play, play
We gonna play in the sunshine
Were gonna get over
Im feelin kind of lucky 2 night
Im gonna find my 4-leaf clover
Before my life is done
Some way, some how, Im gonna have fun
(play), (play),
(play) no, (play) no, (play) no
(come on, play) no!, (play) no!, (playplayplay) yes!
Drummer, do your thang
Drummer, drummer, do your thang
Drummer, drummer, drummer
Can I get some of that?
Lets get out of here (yeah)
(lalalalalalala play, laugh in the sunshine)
Were not afraid 2 (play, laugh in the sunshine)
We are going 2
(play, laugh in the sunshine)
(play, laugh in the sunshine)

Der Drummer
Who puts oup at der pest hotel,
Und dakes his oysders on der schell,
Und mit der frauleins cuts a schwell
Der drummer.

Und says I gets "der bottom price"?
Der drummer.
Who dells how sheap der goots vas bought,

Am Inspired, Are You?
inspiration is not desired
to be inspired
it is discovered
and authored
it is rewarded
and guarded
by the power to live
the hour to give
an inspired
soul a sense to express,
so, i am inspired
now,
are you?
if so,
spread your wings
and fly
within you,
reach out your hands
and touch the sky
(and beyond)
stay motivated
and inspired...
if not, ask why not yourself?
why not you inspired from yours' sense?

But, I don't think any arranger should ever write a drum part for a drummer because if a drummer can't create his own Interpretation of the chart and he plays everything that's written, he becomes mechanical; he has no freedom.

Little Drummer Girl
To me it seems like Christmas is lost
'Cuz it's not about celebrating anymore
It's just about giving to receive
And the illest thing to me about the little drummer boy
Or the little drummer girl in my case, I mean
Is that all that Shorty had was her drum, that's it
And through her drum, she gave Jesus her soul
There ain't no amount of riches that could ever amount to that
You know what I'm sayin'?
Ba dee ah, ba dee ah
Come on, they told me
A new born king to see
Our finest gifts we bring to lay before the king
So here we come
Oh, ra pum pum pum pum
Baby Jesus, I am a poor girl too
I have no gift to bring
That's fit to give a king
Shall I play for you on my drum?
Mary nodded
The ox and lamb kept time
I played my drum for Him
I played my best for Him
Then he smiled at me, me and my drum
Me and my drum
Rum pum pum pum
Pa rum pum pum pum
Pa rum pum pum pum (oh yeah)
Pa rum pum pum pum (oh)
Pa rum pum pum pum
Pa rum pum pum pum (come on they told me)
Pa rum pum pum pum (a new born king to see)
Pa rum pum pum pum (can I play my drum for him)
Pa rum pum pum pum

That's the thing that we said about the horn before: it's a focus issue. It's like a singer versus a drummer. If a drummer's playing a drum beat, and a singer starts singing, what do you think the audience is going to do?

Night Club Quickie
A luscious babe, struts insidiously
Amongst the band
Roadie?
We think not
Just gasping for a ride
The crew gaulks, with vast mouths
At this showgirl
Which member will give her a whirl?
Will they play her safe?
Perhaps, just weigh in, at their own expense
The drummer makes a move
Slashing, pounding his thin lumber
She suddenly notices him
With a sensitive, sensual glance
Should he take a chance?
A nearby restroom, jumps in front of them both
As the band takes, an intermission
Eyes meet
Drummer, showgirl intermingle
Restroom closed
He gets hosed

I saw a drummer play once when I was a kid and I thought, that's really cool. You know, you're moving. You're using your arms and fingers. So I tried it and I loved it.

We Understand Each Other
We understand each other
Bull!
You hear some distant drummer play
I think we understand each other
Have you no else to offer?
Poor boy!
I have expenses to defray
I hope we understand each other
We have a problem
Yes, but its not that we
Dont understand each other
Oh brother!
When they say understand
They gotta mean fairyland
For twenty tons of silver
She sold him into stir
And when it gets his freedom back
He throws it away over her
When he says understand
He must mean some other girl
Ill never comprehend
My putrid taste in men
Its not fair I love
Each little hair and he
Dont even care about me
When she says understand
Must mean some other man
Our preconceptions to retain
Were obliged to exclaim
We understand each other
We hear some distant drummer play
Must mean we understand each other
Oh brother!
If theres a problem
Well admit it
Not that we dont understand each other
Each other
When they say understand
Its like wendy and peter pan
Have you ever met somebody
More self-involved than he?
This has got to be a miracle
The man has divine empathy
What could be wrong with me?
I know his repartee
Insincere
Hes down
There, Im up here
But whenever hes near
Its some kind of divine empathy
When they say understand
Smells like something else to me
Were talking sleight of hand
Each others mind
We read so well
We have no time to know ourselves
We understand each other
Though we dont even know ourselves
We think we understand each other
Though we dont even know ourselves
We think we understand each other
Though we dont know ourselves
I hope we understand each other
Each other

I'd just play 'til my hands fell off. My parents would yell at me to stop because they couldn't stand the noise any more! I was terrible! It must have been hard for them to listen to me as a beginning drummer.

In jazz, you listen to what the bass player is doing and what the drummer is doing, what the pianist and the guitarist is doing, and then you play something that compliments that, so you are thinking simultaneously and thinking ahead.

I think the drummer should sit back there and play some drums, and never mind about the tunes. Just get up there and wail behind whoever is sitting up there playing the solo. And this is what is lacking, definitely lacking in music today.

Heavy Metal Drummer
I still miss those heavy metal bands
She used to go see on the landing in the summer
She fell in love with a drummer
She fell in love with the drummer
She fell in love
Shiny shiny pants and bleach blonde hair
A double kick drum by the river in the summer
She fell in love with a drummer
Another & another
She fell in love
I miss the innocence Ive known
Playing kiss covers
Beautiful & stoned
Unlock my body and move myself to dance
In long liquid flowing blowing glass
Classical music blasting
Thats still ringing in my ears
I still miss those heavy metal bands
She used to go see on the landing in the summer
She fell in love with a drummer
She fell in love with the drummer
She fell in love
I miss the innocence Ive known
Playing kiss covers
Beautiful & stoned

The Sound Of The Strings
I sit and play
To the sound of the strings
They take me to a place
of nothing but peace
As the sound resonates
my body feels free
I play for the angels
that watch over me
