Life itself is but the shadow of death, and souls departed but the shadows of the living.

Last Living Souls
Are we the last living souls?
Are we the last living souls?
Are we the last living souls?
Are we the last living souls?
Take a gun
Or how you say
That's no way you behave
Just a law, a new begin
Sing a song that doesn't sin
And it grows
Hey, you know
Are we the last living souls?
Are we the last living souls?
Are we the last to get away to some another day?
Do we know
Well, we know
Doesn't seem to be complete
Are we, are we the last living souls?
Are we the last living souls?
Are we the last living souls?
Are we the last living souls?
Get up, get up, get up, get up...
What you say?
Cause all I was on
I got it down wrong
I see myself to get
And the Lord, seeing all now
Can you take us in
The part that comin' on
The coldest man doesn't see it's all
We go to the car
I see you walk to the far
And when you get there do you see
You fit the last you need on me
Cause we're the last living souls
We're the last living souls
Yeah, we're the last living souls
We're the last living souls

A Living Death
I think of
All the people
I've lost to
Death.
I miss them
All…
Can anybody
Answer
What happened
To them
After their death?
Are they living
Another life
As is the belief
In after-life
Or are they still
Loitering…
In the lanes
Of death?
If so,
Can those
Wandering
Spirits and souls
Let me know,
How does it feel
To be with death?
Is it better than life,
Which seems to me
A Living Death…

Shadow Of The West
Written by lindsey buckingham.
Dancing ever changing desert sand
I was burned by the touch of her hand
The setting of the sun scares me to death
Im a shadow
Shadow
Shadow of the west
Once upon a time I was strong and proud
Everything that the law would allow
But more and more
I feel less and less
Im a shadow
Shadow
Shadow of the west
Memories like shadows scorched in the sand
Im alone, a lonely man
The setting of the sun scares me to death
Im a shadow
Shadow
Shadow of the west

Farewell To Departed Soul
FAREWELL DEAR DEPARTED SOUL
Farewell, to you dear departed soul
Erased may be from writings of life's scroll
Endure you will in our minds as whole
Etched in our memories as life's extol
Revealing in hearts real truth of life
Alluding to the facts of birth and death
Showing the way to deal with joy and grief
Pointing to the fact one can live with mirth
Living every moment as the very last

Shadows
Shadows, transparent grey,
ask me about themselves,
I only know that when they exist, I exist
I too am the shadow of my own self,
How many times I have tried!
to follow you,
You kept disappearing with each step,
and then at a certain step, a certain moment,
only you remained, my shadow!
Only then I realized, my shadow, my friend
that since the beginning
only you had existed
While, In vain, like a lost child
I kept following only shadows,
It was then,
that i realized that all my life
I have been following only shadows.
They took me to certain corners, certain dark places,
and deserted streets!
Until I found myself,
I was the discoverer of my self,
I discovered that I myself was a shadow
lost among the people.

Nocturne III
One night
one night all full of murmurings, of perfumes and music of wings;
one night
in which fantastic fireflies burnt in the humid nuptial shadows,
slowly by my side, pressed altogether close, silent and pale,
as if a presentiment of infinite bitternesses
agitated you unto the most hidden fibers of your being,
along the flowering path which crosses the plain
you walked;
and the full moon
in the infinite and profound blue heavens scattered its white light;
and your shadow,
fine and languid,
and my shadow
projected by the rays of the moon,
upon the sorrowful sands
of the path, joined together;
and they became one,
and they became one,
and they became only one long shadow,
and they became only one long shadow,
and they became only one long shadow....
Tonight
alone; my soul
full of the infinite bitternesses and agonies of your death,
separated from you by time, by the tomb and by distance,
by the infinite blackness
where our voice cannot reach,
silent and alone
along the path I walked ...
And the barking of dogs at the moon could be heard,
at the pale moon,
and the chirping
of the frogs ...
I felt cold. It was the coldness that in your alcove
your cheeks and your temples and your adoréd hands possessed
within the snowy whiteness
of the mortuary sheets.
It was the coldness of the sepulcher, it was the ice of death,
it was the coldness of oblivion.
And my shadow,
projected by the rays of the moon,
walked alone,
walked alone,
walked alone along the solitary plain;
and your shadow, svelte and agile,
fine and languid,
as in that warm night of springtime death,
as in that night full of murmurings, of perfumes and music of wings,
approached and walked with mine,
approached and walked with mine,
approached and walked with mine ... Oh, the shadows intertwined!
Oh, the corporeal shadows united with the shadows of the souls!
Oh, the seeking shadows in those nights of sorrows and of tears!

Souls Of The Departed
On the road to basra stood young lieutenant jimmy bly
Detailed to go through the clothes of the soldiers who died
At night in dreams he sees their souls rise
Like dark geese into the oklahoma skies
Well this is a prayer for the souls of the departed
Those whove gone and left their babies brokenhearted
This is a prayer for the souls of the departed
Now raphael rodriguez was just seven years old
Shot down in a schoolyard by some east compton cholos
His mamma cried my beautiful boy is dead
In the hills the self-made men just sighed and shook their heads
This is a prayer for the souls of the departed
Those whove gone and left their babies brokenhearted
Young lives over before they got started
This is a prayer for the souls of the departed
Tonight as I tuck my own son in bed
All I can think of is what if it wouldve been him instead
I want to build me a wall so high nothing can burn it down
Right here on my own piece of dirty ground
Now I ply my trade in the land of king dollar
Where you get paid and your silence passes as honor
And all the hatred and dirty little lies
Been written off the books and into decent mens eyes

The Girl Who Loved Her Own Shadow
The girl who loved her own shadow
Once had a nightmare for all times.
She saw in it boys and men without shadows at all!
They were men indeed.
Men with muscles and moustaches as ever
But none had a shadow of their own!
Her father and brother were there
They too had no shadows of any size!
Scared and doomed she was
As she saw that her mother and elder sister
Too had either no shadows or they were very short!
But she saw her own shadow close to herself!
As the nightmare ended, she was seen
Lying in the flood of sweat.
But as she opened the window and she saw another sky
And her sun of resolution was there alone.
She walked along the gravel track
And saw and felt somebody following close to her.
It was her own shadow, another self of tall heights.
She was the first girl who loved her own shadow.
Look back never!
A shadow may be or may not be there.
Sleep not ever!
A dream and a nightmare chase us ever.

Shadows
There are two of me
One does the right thing,
One cannot see.
Standing back to back,
Who is the strong one
In the last act?
Every path I take,
Roads I go down,
Choices I make,
Take me right between
Patches of light and
Darkness in me.
Oh, we have to keep
A watch on our shadows--
Every move
They secretly make.
We try to be
So close to heaven,
But then our shadows,
They run away.
They pull away.
Oh....
And the shadows prove,
Falling behind,
Tracing each move, oh,
When I do some wrong,
There is no hiding;
Shadows are long.
So we have to keep
A watch on our shadows--
Every move (every move)
They secret make, yeah, yeah,
We try to be
So close to heaven, (mmmm....)
But then our shadows,
Pull us away.
They pull away....
We have to keep
A watch on our shadows--
Every move (ooooh....)
They secretly make, yeah,
We try to be
So close to heaven,
But then our shadows,
They pull us away.
Oh, we have to keep
A watch on our shadows--
Every move (oooh....) they secretly make, yeah,
We try to be
So close to heaven,
But then our shadows
Pull us away.
Pull us away.
Pull us away.
(ha, hu ha, oh no, cha cha.
Oh no, gotta keep our watch.
Keepin it under my shadow.
Oh no, gotta keep our watch.
On my shadow.
Oh no, gotta keep our watch.
Keepin it under my shadow.
Oh no, gotta keep our watch.
Keepin it under my shadow.
Oh no, gotta keep our watch.
Keepin it under my shadow.
Oh no, gotta keep our watch.
On my shadow.
Oh no, gotta keep our watch.
Keepin it under my shadow.
Oh no, gotta keep our watch.
Keepin it under my shadow.)

Disingenuousness
Here lies another box for nature,
Carbon ready;
Black to eyes down here,
Where death is at its job.
Up there you’ll hear a rhythmic sob
Or two from living yet-to-dies –
A humming lacrimoso –
It all but cleans the eyes:
Forget it –
The dismal show of grief –
Life is only chemistry –
Our stay is only brief.
It’s we who hype it up!
Diaphragms jerk again;
The jet monotone of hearses
Feeds the disingenuousness
Of undertakers –
They seem to stare at something up ahead –
For them, it’s in the blood,
To taxi off the dead.

Hello Shadows
Shadows imitate every thing in life
But it does not argue, fuss, or fight
And can be changed by the reflection of light
Your shadow will imitate everything that you do
For that shadow belongs to you.
The shadow of an object can
hide you from the sun
Not just you but every one.
Shadows have but one color (black)
And it is not belittled or put down
But accepted by all you see
Which makes it one of gods mysteries.
It can be seen in the sunlight
But not in the dark
It can even be seen with artificial light
And the kids have fun with it
Man! What a sight.
It has no face to show emotions
And it will always be by your side
Although at times it must hide.
The sun can not touch it, as it stares up at you
This is something the sun can not do.
The shadow will walk in front of you
Or in back, or walk on your sides
But will always be there wherever you go
For it is something that we all know
And to my shadow I say “hello”.

Children Of Shadows
Children of bullying wake to a befallen doom
As they prepare for school
Not knowing what the day will behold
Everyone wants to be understood
Why must they be bullied?
You just don't know how it tarnishes their self esteem
It hurts so bad
Please stop!
Let me be
The pain is unbearable
So they see themselves as a shadow
Children of shadows don't want to be spit on
Children of shadows don't want to be laughed at
Children of shadows don't want to be humiliated
No one wants to be thrown in the trash
Children of shadows can overcome
Children of shadows can be loved
Children of shadows can be understood
Because we are not a shadow
But a fierce soul

Shadows
Walk through the night looking for your kind of smile
?Hoping to meet you I walk my love for miles
Your face, your eyes, I can't find the girl I look for
refrain:
Shadows can conceal you
you can't hide, so please don't try
Your life and my love
But to search just makes me cry
Life was so young and another day is gone
Love seems a lost word
How can my heart be strong
?When that was is again I wait for love to be there
refrain
Then in the shadows I see the face I look for
But then like the night you're gone just as before
A face in a crowd
A shadow once more
refrain
solo
refrain
(spoken)
...shadows...shadows..shadows..shadows...shadows....shadows....shadows....

Chorus of the Dead
And all returns to Thee, alone eternal,
And all Thee returning.
Oh Death, in Thy vast shadow,
Simple and bare we languish,
Not happy, but from the anguish
Of life at last set free. The night profoundly
Falls on the shaken spirit,
And dark in dark confuses;
The withered soul sourage and hope refuses;
Spent and uncaring,
Free now from sorrow and from fear for ever,
We lie here undespairing
Through void eternity.
We lived... And as a phantom from a dream of terror
Wanders into the day,
And draws across the speechless souls of children
A memory and a fear,
We, as we linger here,
Are haunted still by life: but fears of children
Haunt us not now. What were we?
What was that bitter point in time
That bore the name of life?
Mysterious, stupendous,
Lost in our thought that hidden country lies:
As in our day of life there lay
The secret land of death. And as from dying
Our living souls drew back, so now they draw
Back from the flame of life,
Simple and bare to languish,
Not happy, but not in anguish;
For happiness we know
Fate upon life or death will not bestow.

Breath of Death
Death is not death-
It is life without breath.
Life on earth is life that is blind-
Blinded by stress and the curse of time…
True life is life that remains untied,
Pure life is life that has honor and pride.
The cold breathe of death actually guilds-
It guilds to a place where darkness subsides…
Passed the shadow a secluded warmth is seen,
Benevolence and compassion becomes pristine.
Yes, this death is death indeed
A death of pain and an unheard plead.
However death is not death-
Only life without breath.

Whithin Another Man's Shadow
Is not the same
To be in the Shadow,
Than to be the Shadow itself…
For you can move away from the Shadow
Towards the light
But, the shadows could not do
The same,
For it no longer will be the shadow…
Now it is painful and hard for me
To convince myself
That it is NOT what I thought
It could be…
Worse than anything else,
Is to share another man's shadow..
Why should I pay for another man's sins?
It wouldn't be right
And I don't deserve it..
Now I realize,
That everything was just a game
With the shadow and the light
And I caught in between…
Now, obviously, one path remains
For me to take:
The light anytime,
Then,
Definitely I will be
A free Man…
However, wondering
who my shadow
One day may be?
Since you are
Already somebody's else...

Not exact
Shadows are not exact but real
You can’t force it or conceal
It may be even longer than size
You must think it wise
It may accompany where you go and turn
You stand, sleep or even run
It has same strength and reflection
Think over it and base your action
A tree’s shadow proves it is standing.
A bird follows its shadow and knows it is flying.
My shadow proved that I have existence
I am living in present tense
What has it do with my being on earth?
I cease to exist upon natural death
I follow on every step and prove
That I am real and follow or move
The story doesn’t end with non existence
Its impact may follow even without insistence
People may follow on what has been left behind
They will try to know the shadow of wisdom and find
So it stays even if you are dead
Your message is accepted and widely read
Single word is enough to give impetus or lead
You have formed some link by providing the thread

Pay The Man
See the way the wind blows
Lives are intertwined
Watch the way the world goes
The man deals out our plight
Jester in the corner
Laughs without a sound
Jester in the corner
Malady abounds
In our souls
See the way the sun sets
Twilight of this life
The man is making little bets
Playing with our lives
All that I believe now
Anything is possible
A simple explanation
For the evil in this world
And in our souls
In our souls
Come down to sorry and sable
It's always the man
Always keeping you down
Bow down cause I see it before me
Shadow and light
That always keeps you running
Shut up you talk too much
Pay the man
Shut up you talk too much
Look at you and your struggle for freedom
But you ain't nothing
We all pay the man for living
Wouldn't it be nice for a change now
To be unchained
My life is for me now
But this is life
Pay the man
Shut up you talk too much
Pay the man
Shut up you talk too much
Pay the man

Change The World
Ive seen ya mum while she stared in the sun
She was high
Reach in ya bag of tricks and pull another one
Your only saving yourself so dont try and save the world

Laughs without a sound

Valentine's Day
She was the color of TV
her mouth curled under like a metal snake
although Holy Wood was sad
they'd remember this as Valentine's day
flies are waiting
In the Shadow of the Valley of Death
In the Shadow of the Valley of Death
slit our wrists and send us to heaven
the first flower after the flood
I saw that pregnant girl today
she didn't know that it was dead inside
even though it was alive
some of us are really born to die
flies are waiting
In the Shadow of the Valley of Death
In the Shadow of the Valley of Death
slit our wrists and send us to heaven
the first flower after the flood
In the Shadow of the Valley of Death
In the Shadow of the Valley of Death
