I know what you're saying, but I already told you all the truth and I, I don't what, I don't know what else to do. I just do the best I can and tell you the only thing I can, and that's what I already told you many times.

You Told Me

By michael nesmith
You told me youd always stay, you told me!
You told me youd never stray, you told me!
All these things you said you said sincerely.
Still I am leaving you in spite of what you told me.
Ive heard things that did not match what you told me.
And of your love that would not last as you told me.
Forwarned is forearmed, it hurts, Im leaving.
I may be wrong I cant love what Im just hearing.
Times have made me shy
Of all the things youre saying
Time have made me shy
Of girls and all the games they are playing.
Someday I may see the truth of what you told me.
I may find I left too soon and that you told me.
Only things that you were honestly feeling.
I must have more to love than what you told me.
Yes, I must have more to love than what you told me.
Yes, I must have more to love than what you told me.

Tell us The Truth

Tell us the truth
Tell us the truth
They said.

So he told them
The Truth,
Untainted
Undiluted
Straight
Direct

That's not the truth
It hurts,
They said.
Tell us the 'real' truth,
The Truth!

So he repeated it.
Again, the unadulterated
Spotless,
Plain truth.

You do not like us, do you, they said.
We're asking you
For the 'proper' truth,
The 'Real Truth',
Not
This hurtful rubbish
Tell us that truth
Tell us that truth.

So, weary,
And now wary,
He told it to them
Once more.
He did not change his story,
He told them
What he had always believed in,
He told them
That no matter how unpleasant
It sounded,
His feelings for them
Remained the same
He gave it to them
Once more,
Direct,
Undiluted,
Impartially,
But passionately nevertheless.
The Truth.

Go away, go away
They said.
You do not understand us
You do not like us.
Go away.

So goes the story
Of how they lost
The best leader
They could ever have had,
The only one
Who really understood them,
The only one
Who wanted nothing
But the best
'For Them',
The only one
Who never shied away
From The Truth
The only one
Who loved them as they were.

If I Told You That

Now tell me how you feel if I told
You that I have feelings for you
Ansd would it be so wrong to say
Whats on my mind
Im sorry I have to
We were friends but with time
What I feel inside for you has changed
But Id give up on love, if I thought
That it was untrue for you
(if I told you that) I wanted to see you
(and if I told you that) I beg to please you
(if I told you that) Ill always keep you
What would you say (if I told you that)
I know that we were just friends
But what if I decide to bring somethings in
I hope it wont offend the trust
We have cause I dont want this to end
I you think that well lose what we have
Then Id just rather stay (rather stay) the same
(Id rather stay the same)
Cause I dont wanna choose
Between two of the most precious things to me
(tell me)
(if I told you that) I wanted to see you
(and if I told you that) I beg to please you
(if I told you that) Ill always keep you
What would you say (if I told you that)
If we take this chance and extend
To each other romance
I hope it would be
The right thing for you and me
(if I told you that) I wanted to see you
(and if I told you that) I beg to please you
(if I told you that) Ill always keep you
What would you say (if I told you that)
Would you be there for me
Could you dare to hold me
Will my feelings leave me
Lonely if I told you

Im A Liar

Maybe I told you right from the start
You can have me
But you cant have my heart
Its easy enough to say but I couldnt care less
Ya I mighta told you you were on my mind
Guess I talked a pretty good line
But hey I can talk all day
But I just cant confess
That Im a liar
Im a victim of desire
Im a moth into the fire
Im over my head - forget what I said
Tell ya Im a liar
Im just walking on the wire
I couldnt get much higher
Im over my head - forget what I said
Baby Im a liar
When I told you I was hard to pin down
Ya know I was just messin around
Guess you know bynow thats just my way
And if you want some storeis - well I got a few
But hey - this is the truth I swear to you
How many more times do you want me to say...
If I told ya to go away
Baby you cant believe a thing I say
Listen....

Truth Be Told

This is the first tale of death in the world
When Cain struck down Abel, a family broken
Since then mankind's dominated his own kind
To insult and injured there's no such thing
As peace, till death do us part
Till that last (truth be told)
Sin lies at the doorway (truth be told)
Hell's open for business now (truth be told)
The soil cries out for revenge (truth be told)
And death is upon the ground, all around
The battle ain't over, without spoils of war
Just 'cause it is written, does not make it so
When you dance with the devil, make sure the song's over
I ask myself how bad do i want you to live
My anger is near
Till that last (truth be told)
Sin lies at the doorway (truth be told)
Hell's open for business now (truth be told)
The soil cries out for revenge (truth be told)
And death is upon the ground
Sin lies at the doorway (truth be told)
Hell's open for business now (truth be told)
The soil cries out for revenge (truth be told)
And death is upon the ground, all around
Solo- Mustaine
Solo- Mustaine
Tribulation strikes again and we're hit hard
Still you just go on your way
Head in the sand, ignoring the rain
Just like the flood in Noah's day
In his day
Solo- Mustaine
Can't punish those ruining the earth
It's suicide to some degree
Because we are all guilty, guilty as sin
There will be no peace, never for you and me
Solo- Mustaine
Before al Qaeda and Bin Laden
Long before Hitler and Hussein
Ever since the first murder was committed
The verdict's always been the same
Been the same, wrong!
Solo- Mustaine
The cursed future just repeats the past
There's hell to pay and stones to cast
So, there will be no peace, never be peace
Till the last truth be told by you and me
Solo- Mustaine

Should Never Have Told Me

You should have never told me
That you love me
You should have never told me, told me, told me
That you care
Ever since that day I saw your lovely face
You were on my mind
I knew that one day I would make you love me
It was just a matter of time
Every night and every day, girl
Im thinking of you
Girl, I cant believe youre mine
Way you kiss, youre right on time
Should have never told me
That you love me
You should have never told me, told me, told me
That you care
If by chance I owned the whole world
Id give it to you
All im trying to say
Love you through and through
Girl, lets stay together for life
cause you are my sugar and spice
Should have never told me
That you love me
You should have never told me, told me, told me
That you care
Naw, baby
Oh, baby
Should have never told me
That you love me
Should have never told me, told me, told me

The Lying Truth

How do we know we are speaking the truth.
Because we got it from a 'reliable' source,
And who told you it was a 'reliable' source.
Ha, Is there any thing that is really called the truth.
For, every 'truth' told in this twisted and sinister world,
A lie is invented, concocted, told.
And when a question is asked, and the truth is required,
And if told, many events, considered dire,
Happen in response,
A white lie is told.
But the whitest lie, considered the truthful lie,
Thought up by those considered wise and selfless,
Is really the darkest, blackest, most deceiving lies of all.
Over time stories, true stories, turn to myths, myths to legends.
so why not lies, white lies too.
Centuries, years, maybe even weeks and days,
Turns the most deceiving and evil lies into the 'truth'.
So I come back to my original question,
But don't misconstrue my words,
For I dear not defy the truth,
The truth, so rare, that passes us unnoticed, unseen, undetected,
The rare truth that exists in this dark, sinister world.
So yes,
How do we know we are speaking the truth.
The truth, the truth, the lie.

I Told Myself

I told myself
You do love me
Is it really true?
She asked me

I told myself
You care for me
Are you really sure?
She asked me

I told myself
You do miss me
As often as you?
She asked me

I told myself
You need me too
Are you guessing?
She asked me

I told myself
You never tell me
Why on Earth?
She asked me

I told myself
You hide a lot…
Is that friendship?
She asked me

I told myself
You think too much
Does he not feel?
She asked me

Tell me, my love
What shall I say?
To all those queries
That she asked me...

How should I answer?
What should I ponder?
Tell me the truth
For she still asks me...

You For Me
And Me For You
Is it the Future?
One last Question
She did ask me.

I don’t have the answers
Yet she keeps asking me…
May be, she knows,
One day, one moment
You’ll let her know
How you feel for me...

No More Words

words written down from my head
but the page is cleared
nothings written but
so much was told
maybe some times the
truth is what you can hold
a friend or a foe just some thing
to love oh hate

shit Tennessee Williams told me the
day i stop having pain is the day
am dead

Movado said the weak don't leave
at all
whiles Tupac told me there
a new day ahead just learn to wait

my pain is mine
so why is yours mine
god so much on my mind
so why cant i lie
nothing make sense shit
i cant even finish write
maybe its time to hang it up
and reminisce on what i write

So I Am Told

There is one thing some have yet to discover about impatience.
So I am told.
Less thought with implusive action...
Has a longer unexpected regret span of time,
To reflect upon wishing to have taken more patience!
After finding that having remorse,
Seems to endorse an activity of self infliction...
By an awakened consciousness.
Sitting to never go away.
Even with the aid of good medication...
So I am told!

This can not be taught.
So I am told.
It has to be experienced.
So I am told.
And somehow,
Eventually...
This lesson is learned.
So I am told.

And I wonder why it is I am...
The one this is often told?
Since I am not the one soliciting this advice,
From anyone!
I've got too much to do.
With little time to listen to such nonsense.

I Told You.

I told you I’m stepping up,
I told you I’m stepping up,
And you still scream ‘order, order’,
I told you I’m stepping up,
I told you I’ve had enough,
And you still scream.

In the recollection of,
What you told me, I told her,
I bandage the wounds,
Cause I still see you hold her,
And I cry in chocolate,
But it’s not nearly so bad,
Tasteful sympathy,
So sweet and yet so sad.

I told you I’ve had enough,
I told you I’ve had enough,
And you still scream ‘Murder, murder’,
I told you I’m stepping up,
I told you I’ve had enough,
And you still scream.

Pointing fingers in my face,
Desperate solution,
Be sure to make your case,
Even with no evidence,
But be prepared to fight,
Judges orders,
Kiss your kids goodnight,
Stain them with the same lies,

I told you I’ve given up,
I told you I’ve given up,
But you still seem beaten, beaten,
I told you I’m giving up,
But you’ve been called on you bluff,
Now you scream.

The truth about Ruth…

Describe to me something…?
Such, as…? Well, any old thing
You want; but make it true.
Else, I’ll only come to rue’
A lie, if it were told as truth.
Say, didn't you love a girl called Ruth?
I, did but she was headstrong,
So, I couldn’t dare belong,
Or even think to her; now, could “I”
And whys that then do reply…?
Truth, be said, I was shabby and shy.
She, seemed more than earthly,
Rode horse back at; weekends early.
Where is she “now” then?
She’s been long gone. Since… when?
Oh, these last twenty years I guess
Like I said; she, was more than earthly.
Let’s get back to what I said:
Describe to me something…?
Such, as…? Well, any old thing
You want; but make it true.
Else, I’ll only come to rue’
A lie, if it were told as truth.

I Told The Truth The Other Day

I TOLD THE TRUTH THE OTHER DAY

I told the truth the other day
I tell it today-

The truth about myself
Is my poem-

But why should anyone else care?

Because it is their truth and their poem and their life?

I don’t know and I don’t think so -
But maybe for some for some time in some way -perhaps –

I speak my truth
Is it yours?
And does our truth matter anyway?

Grandmother Told Me So

The declaration has been spoken,
For Grandmother told me so.
The darkeys have got their fetlocks broken,
For Grandmother told me so.
Oh, won't they have a lot of iron on hand!
And when the news travels,
Oh, won't it be grand!
'Twill sweep like a sugarcane over the land,
For Grandmother told me so.

American Eagle! hysterical bird!
Oh, flap your wing and crow!
The slaves are embellished--yes, that's the word,
For Grandmother told me so!

There's curious times in that ur section,
For Grandmother told me so.
They think they will have a resurrection,
For Grandmother told me so.
The penholders raving like persons insane --
The darkeys in exodus, raising cane,
And singing like martingales after a rain,
For Grandmother told me so.

But President Abe forgot Kentucky,
For Grandmother told me so.
And Geneses, too -- and that's unlucky,
For Grandmother told me so.
Malicious champagne will be open'd in vain,
Until we shall break the last ox-yoke and chain --
Till through the Benighted States freedom shall reign,
For Grandmother told me so.

Mama Told Me Not To Come

Want some whiskey in your water?
Sugar in your tea?
Whats all these crazy questions theyre askin me?
This is the craziest party that could ever be
Dont turn on the lights cause I dont wanna see
Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come
She said that aint the way to have fun, son
That aint the way to have fun, son
Open up the window, let some air into this room
I think mommas chocking from the smell of stale perfume
And the cigarette youre smoking about to scare me half to death
Open up the window, let me catch my breath
Some radio is blastin
Someones knockin at the door
Im lookin at my girlfriend
She just passed out on the floor
Ive seen so many things
I aint never seen before
Dont know what it is
I dont wanna see no more
Mama told me not to come
Mama told me not to come (mama told me)
She said that aint the way to have fun, no (no, no)
That aint the way to have fun, son
Mama told me, mama told me
Mana told me, mama told me
Mama told me not to come (mama told me not to come)
That aint the way to have fun, son

Paradox of Truth

The most subtle lies art the greatest truth
Like the fairy tales of our imaginative youth
Each truth a paradox, a lie does tell
A truth somewhere in mythical spell
When one lies, truth still speaks
For in everything doth truth seek
To express itself to hearts to behold
The truth of life in every lie told
Told in such eloquent song
There is truth in something especially wrong
Rhetoric, myths, ignorance and lies
Truth in all, every truth belies.
If thou don't believe it is certainly true
For to believe is true to me and you
And in this poem if you believe no truth
Let this poem be truth's own proof….

He Told Me I Was Beautiful

He told me I was Beautiful,
And I was feeling so alone...
He told me I was Beautiful,
It was such a serious tone.
He told me I was Beautiful,
It must be a curse word!
He told me I was Beautiful,
And made sure that I heard.
He told me I was Beautiful,
And that he wanted to keep me.
He Told me I was Beautiful,
I felt trapped and wanted to flee.
He told me I was Beautiful,
But I do not love him.
He told me I was Beautiful,
You know what?
I really don't care....
Because when he kissed me,
I wished I wasn't there.
