Playing baseball was my dream, and no amount of money could sway my opinion.

I was a very good baseball and football player, but my father always told me I was much more interested in how I looked playing baseball or football than in actually playing. There's great truth in that.

I could have played another year, but I would have been playing for the money, and baseball deserves better than that.

That was real baseball. We weren't playing for money. They gave us Mickey Mouse watches that ran backwards.
I wonder why there is a designated hitter in baseball after all these years? As an experiment, it seemed like a swell enough idea, but you would think the novelty would have worn off by now and everyone would get back to playing baseball.
I think about baseball when I wake up in the morning. I think about it all day and I dream about it at night. The only time I don't think about it is when I'm playing it.

Finally, for all of us but a lucky few, the dream of playing big-time baseball is relinquished so we can get on with grown-up things.

The greatest challenge I think is adjusting to not playing baseball. The reason for that is I had to come out of baseball and come into the business world, not being a college graduate, not being educated to come into the business world the way I should have.

Only A Dream
(Van Morrison)
Only a dream
That I had in the night
Only a dream
But It felt so right
We were standing in the moonlight
I was holding you tight
But it was only a dream
Only a dream
And that knocked me off of my feet
Only a dream
It was dancing in the street
And the big band kept on playing
Of Bonaparte's retreat
But it was only a dream
Only a dream
But somebody
Tried to knock it down
Only a dream
But that dream
Keeps hanging around
Only a dream
We were roiling in the snow
Only a dream
And we just couldn't let go
I sat outside the window
It was just like Romeo
But it was only a dream
Only a dream but somebody
Tried to knock it down
Only a dream but that dream
Is still around
Up on Mockingbird hill
And I'm feeling no pain
Ali the birds are singing
Their all so sweet refrain
If I had to do it all over
I'd do the same thing again
'Cos it was only a dream
Oh 'cos it s only a dream
That knocked me off of my feet
Only a dream
We were dancing
Out in the street
And the big band kept on playing
Of Bonaparte's retreat
But it was only a dream
Oh but it was only just a dream
Din but it was only a dream
Oh but it was only a dream
Oh what a dream

Friendship (A Friend In Need Is A Borrower Indeed)
I always lend
money to my friend
who is always in need
of money indeed.
When the money becomes a big amount,
his promise of giving back never counts.
He tries to avoid seeing me,
then it becomes ' long time, no see.'
I call his hand phone.
I go to his home.
I find him nowhere,
as if he disappeared into thin air.
I lose my money
and my best buddy.
I Love! ! !
I Love riding my bike
Playing with my sister
Playing with my cat
And Pizza
I Love playing frozen tag
Playing dinosaurs
Watching T.V.
And hot dogs
And I Love you too.
I Love fluffy brown dogs
Cute little cats
Tiny baby hamsters
And Monopoly
I Love going to camp
Going fishing with dad
Going shopping with mom
And spagetti
And I Love you too.
I Love playing baseball in summer
Hockey in the winter
Soccer in the spring
And hamburgers
I Love having my birthday
Having friends over
Going to parties
And onions
And I LOVE you too.

Hips Sway
Not the harsh sunshine
Cast soft dusk ambers instead
Brow furroughs not be shown
Let only clarity be read
Sway. Just sway
Close your eyes now
Sway
Let your mind wander now
Hips Sway
Let your mind wander
Hips Sway Sway
And like the road
That tells of no fatalities
Let me fool you one more time
Nievete travels smooth-Just fine
When you're with me
Sway Just sway
Close your eyes now
Sway
Let your mind wander now
Hips sway
Let your mind wander
Hips Sway Sway
Let the sweet of my lips
Linger on your finger tips
Longer than the rational of time
Not trying to keep you
Not trying to make you mine
Sway. Just sway
Close your eyes now
Sway
Let your mind wander now
Hips Sway
Let your mind wander
Hips Sway Sway
So when the night shadows
No longer move my way
Persuaded you can not be
Not even one more day
Impaled I will not be
Instead retreat to mountain tops
To face the sky and say
Remember how we used to sway
Close your eyes now
Sway.
Let your mind wander now
Hips Sway
Let your mind wander
Hips Sway Sway

The government deficit is the difference between the amount of money the government spends and the amount it has the nerve to collect.
Spend It
Whether love is time
Or love is money
I'd spend it all on you
If love is time I've got millenniums
Each and every second is for you
If it is, I've got all the time in the world
I've got time to fully demonstrate
My feelings for you in it's entirety
I've got time to prove my real love
If love is time 24 hours is a kiss
A week is seeing you smile
A month is but a hug from you
If love is time a year is one conversation
Seconds apart are like decades
Centuries are as our hearts beating as one
If love is money your face is on the bills
Since that's the case I won't spend a dime
That way i'll stay filthy rich
If love is money ill pay the exact amount
Because I don't want change
Plus the fact that its tax free
If love is money I'll put it all in the bank,
And let the interest make it increase
And no matter the amount in there it's always insured
If love is money I'd never be broke
That is, as long as you are mine
-Well like I said I'd never be broke
If love is money I work endless hours to attain it
I'd work as many jobs as possible
And then blow every cent on you
If love is money I'd invest it all
With no fear of a financial loss
And reap the largest return possible
If love is time
And love is money
It's an inconceivable concept to say 'I wasted it on you'

Don't You?
I saw you there so beautiful
You stop and stare to magical
Then you ask me for my name
And we took an uptown train
Before you get an leave
I wanna know do you like baseball, football,
Watchin movies on sunay night?
Do you like kissing when its raining, playing basketball
You walked me home so wonderful
It starts to snow its incredible
Now we are walking up my street
And you slowly turn to me
Your just three inches from my lips
But before we do, do you like baseball, football,
Watchin movies on sunday night?
Do you like kissing when its raining, playing basketball?
Show me the places where you come from
And the places you love most
I wanna know everything you are
I need to know..

In a Society in which there is no law, and in theory no compulsion, the only arbiter of behaviour is public opinion. But public opinion, because of the tremendous urge to conformity in gregarious animals, is less tolerant than any system of law. When human beings are governed by "thou shalt not", the individual can practise a certain amount of eccentricity: when they are supposedly governed by "love" or "reason", he is under continuous pressure to make him behave and think in exactly the same way as everyone else.

Rich Beyond Compare
Everyone has their dreams,
always hoping one day
those dreams will come true
and I am no exception.
My dream was to become rich and famous
and some of my dream has come true.
I am rich beyond compare,
but not in money, oh no.
Richer than that by far.
I am rich with friends
that spread around the world
that I have adopted them into my family.
I guess I’m almost famous
as my work is read around the world.
Though fame doesn’t bother me anymore,
it is the richness of my friendships
I hold close to my heart.
No amount of money can make me richer
than what I am now,
rich with caring friends.

I always thought that there was going to be life after baseball, and so I designed that in my life I would have other interests after baseball that I would be able to step into. And I didn't realize the grip that baseball had on me and on my family.

I was a baseball player, I taught baseball, and all of a sudden I was in the business world. Now I used the baseball world to talk about their product. Not too much, just enough to keep going. Just be yourself and you'll never have a problem. That's what I did.
