Going Back
(barkam/adams)
I wanna go back to those sweet and simple days
Goin back to that cheerful little place
Goin back, back through time
Back through space, goin back
Do you remember when we had such fun
Playing all those happy games in the sun
We didnt have too much to think about
All our problems had a way of working out
I wanna go back to those sweet and simple days
Goin back to that cheerful little place
Goin back, back through time
Back through space, goin back
Skipping through the park and holding hands
We were building castles in the sand
Everything was rosy way back then
Oh, come on, lets make it happen again
I wanna go back to those sweet and simple days
Goin back to that cheerful little place
Goin back, back through time
Back through space, goin back

Utter Space
I come from outer space at least I think I do
I need a change of pace thats why I walk with you
Its a change up-left-one-two
In outer space
Ive had a change of heart Im tired of being the best
I need another part to make an educated guess
And help me pass the test
In outer space
In outer space
In outer space
I come from outer space at least I think I do
I need another face I need one just like you
Its a change up-left-one-two
In outer space
In outer space
In outer space
The space
Outer space
The space
In outer space

Astronauts
couples on the verge of divorce
have become astronauts because they always say they need
space.
it matters, and matter is that
which occupies space and has weight.
i need space. i am gaining weight.
i am standing on a cliff, on the verge of an abyss
i am not afraid
i want to fall, because i am an astronaut too needing
space.
i miss the fun at the opening of your beehive.
sort of your art boutique
i did not forget it.
i need space.
i need space.you badly need more space.
tomorrow morning you will ask me
why did you write a sad poem last night?
and i too, now, needed more space
to lie,
i will ask you,
which one?
did i?
i cannot remember.

My Space
You entered my space
The space that was mine alone
It was my cocoon
I felt safe there.
Then you thundered in and somehow took over.
I treasured my space, it was only for me.
You came and shook my fragile walls, shattered my peace,
Disturbed my equilibrium.
Now my space isn't my space anymore.
But you gave me something that made my space obsolete,
You gave me your love.

Space Between
You cannot quit me so quickly
Is no hope in you for me
No corner you could squeeze me
But Ive got all the time for you love
The space between
The tears we cry is the laughter that keeps us coming back for more
The space between
The wicked lies we tell to keep us safe from the pain
Will I hold you again
These fickle fuddled words confuse me
Like will it rain today
We waste the hours with talking talking
These twisted games were playing
Were strange allies
With warring hearts
What a wild eyed beast you be
The space between
The wicked lies we tell that hope to keep us safe from the pain
Look at us spinning out in the madness of a rollercoaster
You know you went off like the devil in the church
In the middle of a crowded room
All we can do my love
Is hope we dont take this ship down
The space between
Where you smile and hide
Thats where youll find me if I get to go
The space between
The bullets in our fire fight
Is where Ill be hiding waiting for you
The rain that falls
Splashed in your heart
Ran like sadness down the window into your room
The space between
Our wicked lies is
The hope to keep safe from pain
Take my hand
Cause were walking out of here
Right out of here
Is all we need dear
The space between
Whats wrong and right
Is where youll find me hiding
Waiting for you
The space between
Your heart and mind
Is the space well fill with time
The space between
The tears we cry is the laughter keeps us coming back for more
The space between
Our wicked lies where we hope to keep safe from pain
The space between
The space between

Cosmic Convoy
Space cowboy:
Breaker, breaker, breaker, this is the space cowboy out here,
And I am four light years away from the planet saturn.
Anybody out there got your ears on?
Why dont you tell me about it?
Jupiter moon:
Hello [...] space cowboy. this is jupiter moon talking at you
From mulitoid space. got some folks over here on your back door.
No one over here at your front door. looks like we got us a
Cosmic convoy.
Space cowboy:
Ah, tell me something now, we got that jupiter probe out there
Still?
Jupiter moon:
Yeah, [...] right behind you, following you.
Space cowboy:
Well tell me something, got any word on mr. spock out there?
Is he looking around for us?
Jupiter moon:
Ah, word I get is you better slow down a little bit. I know
Hes pushing 19 gs right now, and I think thats a little
Above the limit.
Space cowboy:
Yeah, I know, I know, Im rigged up, but I thought I could
Make up a little time here. I lost so much time coming around
The sun.
Jupiter moon:
Yeah I know, scooby doo for me too, sun spots [...]
Ok, space cowboy [...]
Space cowboy:
[...] and Im putting the hammer down. its been fun running
With you. well see you next century.
Jupiter moon:
[...]

The brain is all space
boundless is space
so is this brain
take away its organics
you have a space
as boundless as space
pump in the organics
you get to experience
the power of space
and a transient piano
that affords a transcendental
tune of bewilderment
pain, joy, fun
until the brains trades
space for space
in all the darkness

If You Still Remembered Me
This space I wanted,
Seems too large and empty
Without you.
In this place,
You've taken all my comfort.
I did not know you could do that.
I did not know I would want you back...
Like I want you back now.
This space I wanted,
Seems too barren and bleak
Without hearing your words
I wish to hear you speak.
You split...
And I called it quits.
We could not sit and talk,
Over it any longer!
That stays and replays in my mind!
Had I known I would find myself,
AFTER you left...
I would have sat and listened.
And put a stop to denying my faults.
You would not have walked out of my life!
I would have begged you to stay.
I would beg now to have you back.
If I knew where you were...
And if you still remembered me.

Spaces
Space
No center, no above, no below
Ceaselessly devouring and engendering itself
Whirlpool space
And drop into height
Spaces
Clarities steeply cut
Suspended
By the night's flank
Black gardens of rock crystal
Flowering on a rod of smoke
White gardens exploding in the air
Space
One space opening up
Corolla
And dissolving
Space in space
All is nowhere
Place of impalpable nuptials

Your words
Near
The sound of your voice
The naked skin of your body
Still has that new baby smell
Your words flood the space
With love
I stare into that space
Rolling seconds back
Rolling seconds before
And back
Again
For the movement
Yes, I'm only yours.

Space Monkey
Space monkey, space monkey
What you doing out there?
Why its dark as a dungeon way up in the air
Come gather round me you little monkeys and a story Ill tell
About a brave young primate, outer space knew him well
He was born at the top of a big old tree
Way back in 1953.
He could swing through the jungle and hang by his toes
Till they took him to russia cause they could I suppose
They dressed him up in a spacesuit and it started to snow
Shot him off in a rocket where no man would go
Space monkey space monkey
What you doing out there?
Why its dark as a dungeon way up in the air
Therell be no one to greet you when you get back home
No hammer or sickle youll be on your own.
He had plenty of cuban bananas and loads of spam
But he found great difficulty trying to open the can
One day he slipped on a banana peel and the ship lost control
It spun out of orbit and shot o]ut the black hole
Its been four decades now, thats nine monkey years
Thats a long time for a space monkey to confront all his fears
Space monkey space monkey
What you doing out there?
Why its dark as a dungeon way up in the air
Therell be no one to greet you when you get back home
No hammer or sickle youll be all on your own.
Space monkey, space monkey
Its time to get real
The space race is over, how does it feel
Cold wars had a heatwave, iron curtains torn down
Theyve rolled up the carpet in space monkey town
Now leningrad is petersburg and petersburgs hell
For a card-carrying monkey with a story to tell
The space monkey was reportedly last sighted about
A half a block off of red square
In a karaoke bar having a few drinks with some of his friends
There was the dog that flew sputnik
And a blind red-headed, one legged parrot
Who had done some minor research for dow chemical
They were drinking american vodka
Imported all the way from paducah, kentucky
And reportedly had their arms around each others
Shoulders singing.
Those were the days, my friend, we thought theyd never end
Space monkey, space monkey
Theres nothing to do
But its better than living in a communist zoo
Therell be no one to greet you when you get back home
No hammer or sickle youll be all on you own

Remiscing What You Surrendered...
you stop in a certain space
you spend time
sometime longer than what that space requires
then it gets crowded
space grumbles
and time wants to run faster like a leopard
at a certain point
you become a passive observer
like a marker of the road
you forget speech
because time does not give you words
you lose sight of corners
space is arrogant
it is only for a while
you gain flesh
you remember syllables
your bones get back that hardness
that it has surrendered
before
because space and time give you
love, and affection
and then suddenly strip you with it
it is not late
there is still a few fireflies resting upon
a crown of leaves
you glisten
now a meteor you move somewhere else
because you
do not fail to remember
going there is remembering.
