I had the great good fortune to interview Peggy Lee. Her memories of working with Walt Disney and his team were warm and upbeat.

A Disney Fan
I have to admit
I'm a Walt Disney fan
From the moment I watched
The little mermaid
He had me hook line and sinker
At first when my boy
Was just a toddler
I use to embellish the joy
Of buying Disney movies
Then when he grew out of those
I had to make excuses of my own
And often told rose colored lies
About how still he loved
The Disney films
Little did the adults know?
They were my own
Escape from reality
But I still loved to watch
A Disney film
So no longer will I hide
And blame it on my poor son
I am and will ever be
A Disney Fan

Peggy Sue
(holly / petty / allison)
If you knew, peggy sue,
Then you know why I feel blue
Without peggy, my peggy sue.
Well, I love you girl.
Yes, I love you, peggy sue.
Peggy sue, peggy sue,
Oh, how my heart yearns for you.
Oh, peggy, my peggy sue.
Well, I love you girl.
Yes, I love you, peggy sue.
I love you, peggy sue,
With a love so rare and true.
Oh, peggy, my peggy sue.
Well, I love you girl.
I want you, peggy sue.
Peggy sue, peggy sue.
Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty peggy sue.
Oh, peggy, my peggy sue.
Well, I love you girl.
Yes, I need you, peggy sue.
I love you, peggy sue,
With a love so rare and true.
Oh, peggy, my peggy sue.
Well, I love you girl,
And I want you, peggy sue.

His feeling was the name Walt Disney represented all of us. Walt was hanging by his teeth financially and really I think he was for most of his career. Not at all like today.

Walt Disney had always tried to get more dimension in his animation and when I saw these tapes, I thought, This is it! This is what Walt was waiting for! But when I looked around, nobody at the studio at the time was even halfway interested in it.

Peggy
Peggy said good morning and I said good bye,
When farmers dib the corn and laddies sow the rye.
Young Peggy's face was common sense and I was rather shy
When I met her in the morning when the farmers sow the rye.
Her half laced boots fit tightly as she tripped along the grass,
And she set her foot so lightly where the early bee doth pass.
Oh Peggy was a young thing, her face was common sense,
I courted her about the spring and loved her ever thence.
Oh Peggy was the young thing and bonny as to size;
Her lips were cherries of the spring and hazel were her eyes.
Oh Peggy she was straight and tall as is the poplar tree,
Smooth as the freestone of the wall, and very dear to me.
Oh Peggy's gown was chocolate and full of cherries white;
I keep a bit on't for her sake and love her day and night.
I drest myself just like a prince and Peggy went to woo,
But she's been gone some ten years since, and I know not what to do.

You've got to be extremely careful, because you could be with a great team, and you could be the product of a great team. There are some players that stand out despite the teams that they play on, and there are some players that are good because of the team that they're with.

Peggy Day
Peggy day stole my poor heart away,
By golly, what more can I say,
Love to spend the night with peggy day.
Peggy night makes my future look so bright,
Man, that girl is out of sight,
Love to spend the day with peggy night.
Well, you know that even before I learned her name,
You know I loved her just the same.
An I tell em all, wherever I may go,
Just so theyll know, that shes my little lady
And I love her so.
Peggy day stole my poor heart away,
Turned my skies to blue from gray,
Love to spend the night with peggy day.
Peggy day stole my poor heart away,
By golly, what more can I say,
Love to spend the night with peggy day.
Love to spend the night with peggy day.
