I often meet adults in their 30s, 40s, or 50s who, as soon as they recognize me, suddenly become six years old again.

Sonnet: Adults
Adults are selfish beings of the earth;
Adults don’t forgive/ forget tho’ mature;
Adults are creatures adamant by birth;
Adults are jealous beings, by nature.
Adults have arguing tongues till the end;
Adults misunderstand others with ease;
Adults can neither condescend nor bend;
Adults cannot adjust with/others please.
Adults are sinful in thought, word and deed
Adults are the ones, misguiding the youth;
Adults are beings revengeful indeed;
Adults can speak effortlessly untruth.
Adults advise but remember old fights;
Adults cannot give up their insane rights!

Too Blind To Recognize
Too blind to recognize.
No one really knew,
Who they saw on a regular basis.
And this was not encouraged,
To be expected to accept.
Yet discussing other people,
Was what they did best.
Too blind to recognize.
Too blind to recognize.
Disrespecting was all they knew.
And this they did with a full effect.
No one knew who did what.
Or who had experiences to share,
That would provide benefits all would get.
So no one saw to see to receive opportunities,
They would meet but too blind to recognize.
Too blind to recognize,
Gifts given as a prize!
Gifts given they should pride.
Too blind to recognize,
Gifts given as a prize!
Gifts given they should pride.
Just too blind to recognize.
Just too blind to recognize.
Just too blind to recognize...
Gifts given as a prize!
Gifts given they should pride.
Too blind to recognize.
Just too blind to recognize.
Too blind to recognize.
Just too blind to recognize...
Gifts given as a prize!
Gifts given they should pride.
Too blind to recognize.

When Did Youth Go?
When did I stop being a teenager?
When did I stop listening to the radio
from midnight until 2 or 3 a.m. weeknights?
Why was teenage music so empowering?
Why were we so absorbed with the music?
Music which really rocked our wild souls?
Music we danced at local teenage disco too.
Music we drove our parents or first cars too.
Music we drank beer or spirits or partied too.
It seemed we could not live without music.
It seemed we could not meet without music.
It seemed our dreams lived within the beat of music.
Music was part of the fuel which drove our souls.
Music was part of the weekend ever speeding by.
Music was magic drumbeat of hot midnight parties.
Where is the large rocking crowd going?
Where are all the friendly teenagers going?
Where are all those old friends going?
Where where is large trendy rocking crowd going?
Where where are all the friendly teenagers going?
Where where are all those good old friends going?
Suddenly those wild unending party days are over.
Suddenly those exciting unending teenage years are over.
Suddenly those pubs full of our friends are empty.
Suddenly they all suddenly left town.
Suddenly they are all no longer around.
Suddenly they are all in places we don't go.
Suddenly they all suddenly left the old home town.
Suddenly they are all suddenly no longer around.
Suddenly they are all in places we don't know or go.
Where did those teenage years quietly go?
Those teenage friends I used to know?
Where did they all suddenly go?
Where did those teenage years quietly creeping go?
Those lost teenage friends I once upon a time did know?
Where did they all suddenly go exiting a vanishing show?

Suddenly
Orbison/melson
Suddenly, my heart stood still
Suddenly, the sight of you gave me a thrill
Suddenly
Suddenly, i see you everywhere
Suddenly, all at once i seem to care for you
Suddenly
So suddenly i found you
To think you were near all the time
I've often been around you
I don't know how i could have been so blind
Suddenly, my world is new
Suddenly, suddenly there's only you
Suddenly
So suddenly i found you
To think you were near all the time
I've often been around you
I don't know how i could have been so blind
Suddenly, suddenly you're my dream come true
Suddenly, suddenly there's only you
So suddenly

I Sit Back And Think
I sit back and think
What do young ones really know?
How to be a mother
A friend who really knows
Then you meet a young person
With ideals and their dreams
And suddenly your face
With an adult not a kid
You know not their past
Of teething and games
That’s a life you have with your own
You look past the youthful
Way that they are
And let them be humans
And live life to the full
We use to be young
At one stage of our lives
What makes us different?
Is were older and wiser
So we like to think
So I say with a smile
To young adults of this world
I bow down low and say
Hello my friend
We may be much older
And wiser we think
But at times you surprise us
With love and wisdom
That is beyond all your years
And yes I bow and acknowledge you all
Simply because you’re our future
Leaders of tomorrow
Good luck to you all

Potty Trained By Patient Strangers
Is there an awakening stage,
Upon which children undisciplined...
Become responsible driven adults?
And suddenly a laziness condoned,
Develops into an array of capabilities shown?
And beaming parents with no influence of this at all...
Stand tall to be awarded the credit.
With an acknowledged look as if deserved?
If this scenerio is an expectation...
While parents who have been negligent,
Of 'parenting' as it is meant await praises?
There is no wonder why there are many adults,
Who have learned to be potty trained...
By patient strangers.
And few who have done this,
Can say they have welcomed successful results.

If Children Ruled The World
If Children Ruled The World,
Parents, Adults and Teachers will go to bed at 8: 00
and wake up at 7: 00 to dress up for school.
At school children will treat them like nothing,
and Parents, Adults and Teachers will have nothing to do or say.
In the morning at school, they would have to line up like chrildrens used to do like every single mornings.
If Children Ruled The World,
Lollies will be for everyone even adults and parents.
Parents and Adults will have such awful rotten teeth just like all children used to have in their teeths.
Every mornings right after adults brushes their teeths or hairs, the children would have to check if their hairs and teeths are alright.
In School Trips children goes for free but the adults has to always pay.
If Children Ruled The World,
the world wou; d be treated badly.
The children would be rich and adults would be poor and always ask for children for some money.
There will be no clean water,
No food for the adults to eat except lollies.
If Children Ruled The World,
WE'LL ALL BE IN A JAM!

Dead Friend Of My Youth
Now when you come all that way to meet me
From the country house of your death,
I know that you would remove your hat
To greet someone already old to you.
You'd only half recognize this gentleman
Whose face has become so very different.
But to me you'd burn in that former pureness
Kept young by death, a light out of boyhood.
If you would suddenly deign not to dissolve
Your highness and withdraw from my presence,
Perhaps I could simply just close my eyes then,
Perhaps I could also get down on my knees.

When I Was A Child I Believed
When I was a child
a very young child
I looked at the world
of adults in discussion
their patterns of interaction
their comments reactions
a very strange world
differences between what adults said
and what child were told
their masks worn
and I thought about what
they did and why?
Questions were asked
about what you wanted
to be when you grew up?
The work question was important,
but never asked was how well you
would do this work, and for who?
They were often silent or suddenly angry
‘children were to be seen but not heard’
the news to be listened to in serious silence.
First talk repeat their sounds
to smiles laughter
then don’t talk be silent listen?
First stand walk walk how far
then don’t walk stay wait
where your told don’t go away?
When adults met sometimes they would
start to talk a lot fast all at once not one
at a time and laugh a lot talk walk funny?
Why not be on their best behaviour
nice to others as they told children to be?
Why not choose to be good not bad?
Years later I would smile a lot why not
it costs nothing to smile and often others.
Would catch your smile and smile also?
Even when sad smiling was a good thing to do
to appreciate all you have been given.
Even though you could not always play with
what was given or go outside or play with friends.
Especially on those boring rainy days.
So many games were not allowed if you got dirty?
As a teenager smilie would be a nick name.
That smile given freely to people who needed
to smile but chose to be miserable instead!
It never cost anything to be nice to people either!
To give to help had its own record, it felt good!
Happy people are the nice people to be around!
I believed happiness was the most precious gift,
a person could give another, and if sad then to give,
happiness you did not have; was even more important.
Once in my early twenties I was surprised,
a friend said you cannot be that good,
no one is that good, but I knew I was not good.
At twenty-two when about to travel overseas,
my uncle said you think everyone is your friend,
be careful, everyone you meet; is not your friend.
Now I am older and sadly wiser,
yet I still know that to treat a stranger,
as a friend not a treat is still better.
That to say hello with a smile,
and wish people well,
is still a wonderful thing to do.
I still believe it is a better thing to do.
And when kindness is meet with hostility?
I feel pity for the hurt who choose to hurt.
It is not the right way.
It is not God’s way.
It is still not my way.

You and I will meet again, When we're least expecting it, One day in some far off place, I will recognize your face, I won't say goodbye my friend, For you and I will meet again.
You & I Will Meet Again
You and I will meet again
When were least expecting it
One day in some far off place
I will recognize your face
I wont say good-bye my friend
For you and I will meet again
I heard you singing to no one
I saw you dancing all alone
One day you belonged to me
Next day I just wouldnt know
Someday all the rules will bend
And you and I will meet again
Ive got a feeling
Ive got a feeling so strong
Maybe someday our paths will cross
A red-winged hawk is circling
The blacktop stretches out for days
How could I get so close to you
And still feel so far away?
I hear a vo ice come on the wind
Sayin you and I will meet again
I dont know how, I dont know when
But you and I will meet again

Beyond Recognition
no my friend
no, you can't recognize me
any more at this moment
burnt in the firmament of
my unadulterated desire for you
i'm now reduced to
a whiff of thin vapour
quickly carried away by the wind
and in no time absorbed by ether
no friend, no
you can't recognize me
any more at this moment
i'm now a tomb with all
love and hurt accrued
buried deep within with
no epitaph inscribed
no my friend
no, you can't recognize me
any more at this moment
as i sit in a corner of a cold bed
drawing my empty limbs closer
as if they're all that's left of me...
no my friend, no
you can't recognize me
any more at this moment
as much as i can't recognize me myself
through this vacant mirror...
wait, there from a corner
i recognize you simply gazing
at nothing in particular...
why, you alone?
i recognize my self
no more...

Now that we know that love claims a prize
Now that we know that love claims a prize,
that it brings a kind of liberation,
that nothing else has its kind of depths
and that it binds very strong when you do find it.
As if from the beginning of human existence,
pre-planned to meet each other
it is something strange and somewhat known
when our eyes suddenly meet each others.
Away is the loneliness and being separate
when we notice each other for who we are,
when suddenly we know there and then:
you are the one for who I have been waiting all my life.

I find many adults are put off when young children pose scientific questions. Why is the Moon round? the children ask. Why is grass green? What is a dream? How deep can you dig a hole? When is the world’s birthday? Why do we have toes? Too many teachers and parents answer with irritation or ridicule, or quickly move on to something else: ‘What did you expect the Moon to be, square?’ Children soon recognize that somehow this kind of questions annoys the grown-ups. A few more experiences like it, and another child has been lost to science. Why adults should pretend to omniscience before 6-year-olds, I can’t for the life of me understand. What’s wrong with admitting that we don’t know something? Is our self-esteem so fragile?

I Wish My Heart To You Was Known
I wish my heart to you was known.
With emotions deep.
I do keep within reach.
I can be distant at times.
But my mind is aware.
Who approaches with sincerity.
And a return of it,
I can and will share.
Without defense or fences seen.
To pop up suddenly...
From nowhere.
To be rude, indignant or mean.
I'm here to care.
But not just for anyone.
Nor do I seek perfection.
Not with the flaws,
I've yet to overcome.
It is not often that I meet someone...
Who can accept with forgiveness,
The unconsciousness of others.
And allow them time...
To correct what they have done.
I try not to sit with bitterness inside.
Knowing my pride could be hard to handle.
Since I overly protect a sensitive side.
A peace of mind I have.
And it was not easily obtained.
It took years in development.
To keep as is.
Proudly maintained.
Many times I have sat alone.
Amazed in the ways that I have grown.
And wishing someone knew,
My life the way I do!
Perhaps that's why I wish...
My heart to you was known.
I recognize your thoughtfulness!
And that...
Not too many can express.
In the way to me you have shown!

Children Need To Grow
children need to grow
catalysis into their
personality eventually
be their own men
or women
less like their own
mother father
if they are to reach their
full potential
children will learn
a lot very quickly
in years one to five
by about age
eighteen
all confident
young adults
will know
everything
then very soon
many with
half a brain 18
to 20 who knew
everything
at about 20 to 21
will learn
just how much
they did
not know
possibly be amazed
how much
their parents
suddenly know
about real life
not knowledge
but subtle
interacts of life

The difference between adults and children is that adults don't ask questions.
Twenty- Fifth Yahrtzeit Of My Father
Dad I have written so many words about you
I have repeated your words again and again
I have described you
Laughed and cried in remembrance of you and Ma
All these years-
But what is it to you?
What does it all mean?
Is it ‘all just a dream'
There also?
Have these passing years meant anything for you?
Do you know of us and are you aware of all that has happened?
And when I come there most likely less than twenty- five years now
Will we meet again?
And will this longing to meet you end with nothing
Or with its realization?
Or perhaps will it never end
As we will both long from there too
Of the time we had together here for forty - five years?
