I don't know why people question the academic training of an athlete. Fifty percent of the doctors in this country graduated in the bottom half of their classes.

People have lots of misconceptions about me. My mum, who is half French and half Spanish, gets outraged when I'm called quintessentially English. I owe my looks to my mum-which was 90 percent of getting my first job. And, some people would argue, 90 percent of my entire career.

Talent is usually
Talent is usually
Twenty percent inspiration
Thirty percent chance
And fifty percent hard working
It's a matter of trial
Error and trying again
Providing the ideal, the image
Is already in one's mind
And possible according
To the given light
People tend to think
They have you in your pigeonhole
And then are so surprised
To find there is another element
In your life
It is always difficult
To transcribe or describe
Emotion and understanding
Rather than giving
A sufficient logical resume
This quest has lead me
To pass through many rhymes
Of esoteric thoughts
Each of which has left its trace
Not so much in what I could see
There is only one piece of words
Make sure you ask the right question
To get a right answer
The brighter the light
The darker the shadow

Skating takes up 70 percent of my time, school about 25 percent. Having fun and talking to my friends, 5 percent. It's hard. I envy other kids a lot of things, but I get a guilt trip when I'm not training.

When I came to Congress, like our first panel, small business people, 64 percent of the people had health insurance. We'd buy it. Now, we're down to about 34 percent. That's why we have to do something on health care in this country because the cost is killing us.

Country Doctors
The quiet country doctors
Of many a country town,
Whose lives are spent to service bent,
With scant hope of renown
Those sturdy country doctors,
That walk the healer's way,
At beck and call of one and all
That pain be smoothed away.
Those patient country doctors,
That journey day and night
By country roads to far abodes
To ease some sufferer's plight;
Thro' fire and flood and tempest
They make their pilgrimage
To bring release and healing peace,
The comforters of age.
Those modern country doctors,
They do not advertise;
Surcease they bring for suffering
And hope to pain-filled eyes.
These be their ends to be man's friends,
And so they shape and plan,
Divorced from greed to serve man's need,
And give their lives to man.
Those quiet country doctors,
Unsung, unknown to fame,
Refusing none what may be done
In skilful healing's name
Philosophers, friends, mentors,
Thro' pain and death and birth,
And who shall say that such as they
Are not salt of the earth?

Slice The Memories of It
Count on getting your cut,
Of up to fifty percent less.
'Fifty percent less of what? '
You appear to be intelligent.
This figure may cut deeper than you expect.
Remember neglected responsibilities...
Leaves an exquisite taste for spice you like.
Slice the memories of it,
And do something else...
With that bitterness you will be gifted with.
It seems that glamourous nest you lay resting...
To live that fantastic life you treasure and measured.
At the expense of your pretensions?
Count on getting your cut,
Of up to fifty percent less.
'Fifty percent less of what? '
Of nothing left!
My mama use to tell us,
She could not squeeze blood from a turnip!
And she tried very hard to make us believe...
Eating mustard and mayonaisse sandwiches,
Was good for our teeth and made strong bones!
We were also taught we could not have,
What she and my father did not own!
And she connected this to not having money.
To keep our dreams,
But not to waste them on empty wishes.
In other words...
If one sees there is nothing when shown.
It is best to accept it and adapt!
Take and attach your dreams...
On something you know is yours,
That can not be tapped.
Or taken!
Count on getting your cut,
Of up to fifty percent less.
'Fifty percent less of what? '
Of nothing left!
And that depends on where your mind is,
And how it takes being put to a challenging test!
So...
I do enjoy the basicness of the simplisticness I get.
However...
The peace I own was by me financed,
With a dues to pay and tolerance to look denial in the eye.
I'm not about to sacrifice my dignity.
With or without things taken away from me.
I've learned not to expect to have it.
While others were taught...
They were entitled!
I only felt entitled,
When I did not get obsessed with possessions.
To get upset if they should become repossessed.
I've learned not to expect to have it.
While others were taught...
They were entitled!
We were taught to have standards 'we' value.
And not to pursue dreams tossed away like loose change.
Those days are gone.
When the giving was just for the asking...
Without concerns of how the percentage attached may match!
That is your life.
You are about that which is changing fast.
Quicker than an explanation can drip from the lips,
Of thieves.
And the more I think about it...
Subtraction will be a subject you will learn to master!
At least for you...
All will not be a total loss.
