One of the cruelest judgments sustained against me is that I have spoken out as a recovered alcoholic to stimulate my acting career.

Ordinarily logic is divided into the examination of ideas, judgments, arguments, and methods. The two latter are generally reduced to judgments, that is, arguments are reduced to apodictic judgments that such and such conclusions follow from such and such premises, and method is reduced to judgments that prescribe the procedure that should be followed in the search for truth.

I have friends, African American actors, who've had more of a struggle; hopefully they're starting to see some air and light now. But in my directing career, in my acting career, in my producing career, I haven't been bound by a lot of limitations. When I first started doing these kinds of unique characters, these diverse characters, there was hardly anybody doing them. So I had this open road.

I was studying to be an architect, I wasn't plotting to join the movies. Films were just another career option. I took acting up with the same schoolgirl enthusiasm I had for examinations. Acting is a job and I take it very seriously.

Judgments, value judgments concerning life, for or against, can in the last resort never be true: they possess value only as symptoms, they come into consideration only as symptoms - in themselves such judgments are stupidities.

Hollywood is fickle; your career can end pretty fast. If the acting jobs dry up, you have to have something to fall back on. In fact, that would be my advice to kids interested in acting - make sure you get an education too.

I see myself much more so as an actor. Acting is my career and activism is my passionate hobby. But acting is my livelihood. I was an activist long before I even entertained the possibility of being an actor.

Your job is not your career
I responsible to my job, I fight for my career
I bound to job, I grow with career
Job is described, career is developed
Job is fulfilled, career is achieved
Job is for living, career is for life

I had to accept that I was an alcoholic, that was the main thing. I think you've got to. But I try not say that I'm an alcoholic. I prefer to say that it's a disease I've got.

He was the only person caught in the collapse, and afterward, most of his work was recovered too, and it is still spoken of, when it is noted, with high regard, though seldom played.

You have lent and not recovered; and if recovered, not so much; and if so much, not such; and if such, a mortal enemy.
I don't have to be like the rest
My dad is an alcoholic, and he hides it well
Thrown up against the wall, not knowing my last breath
My dad is an alcoholic, and he hides it well
I cut to relieve pain
They sent me to a 'loony bin'
I cut to relieve pain
My mom is never home
No clue when my next meal is
My mom is never home
My friends have all betrayed me
But I'm not complaing
My friends have all betrayed me
Everyone around me abuses drugs
Am I the only normal one?
Everyone around me abuses drugs
I DON'T have to be like them!
I will be the first to graduate highschool and go somewhere
I DON'T have to be like them!
I have goals in life, that soon will be complete
I will finish highschool, get a career, and have a family
I have goals in life, that will soon be complete

Pop Juice
You went there until you crash here
Then woken up to wonder where the night went
Keep breathing it'll come back again
Tonight will be different
We will all be saved
My name's Jimmy, I'm an alcoholic
And I have been for 33 years or more
So kill me, I will die without it
It's like this wherever I go
So we crashed down in BB's
Keep quiet because the question is elaborate
You need a lawyer, a doctor, a drink
To keep surviving
Keep me firing
My name's Jimmy, I'm an alcoholic
And I have been for 33 years or more
So kill me, I will die without it
It's like this wherever I go
I don't feel like going out
I don't feel like going out
Feel like going out
I don't feel like going out
I don't feel like going out
Feel like going out
Feel like going out
My name's Jimmy, I'm an alcoholic
And I have been for 33 years or more
So kill me, I will die without it
It's like this wherever I go
My name's Jimmy, I'm an alcoholic
And I have been for 33 years or more
So kill me, I will die without it
It's like this wherever I go
Do you feel like going out?
Do you feel like going out?
Do you feel like going out?
Do you feel like going out?
Do you feel like going out?
Do you feel like going out?
Do you feel like going out?

My Old Lover
I've yet not recovered...
From you,
My old lover.
No!
I've yet not recovered...
From you,
My old lover.
I find you right here on my mind,
When under covers.
I find I'm giving you my time,
When with another.
Although there's someone new.
Someone that is not you...
But another!
I sleep with.
And here,
As my lover.
I find you right here on my mind,
When with another.
I find I'm giving you my time,
With another lover.
Why are you on my mind?
When you told me to find,
Another...
To discover,
Since we didn't have each other.
I've yet not recovered...
From you,
My old lover.
No!
I've yet not recovered...
From you,
My old lover.
Although there's someone new.
Someone that is not you...
But another!
I sleep with.
And here,
As my lover.
Although there's someone new.
Someone that is not you...
But another!
I sleep with.
And here,
As my lover.
I've yet not recovered...
From you,
My old lover.
No!
I've yet not recovered...
From you,
My old lover.
My old lover.
My old lover.

Uncle Eric
'Two beers or not two beers? '
Joked my uncle, -
He was an alcoholic.
He died at 73,
Not bad for someone
Who'd wrecked his marriage
And career, and alienated
His family.
Two beers or not two beers?
That was the question!
