Like, in high school, I was a good student and got straight As. It was very strict and you couldn't do well there unless you studied very hard, but every time there was any trouble, I was the first person they would be talking to.

A student's Diary
At the age of six we begin elementary
We had this fear or anxiety
When e reach the teenage years we
started secondary
And ended it with difficulty
We studied in a private school
Think it is very cool
We obeyed every school rule
And top in the honor roll
We studied very hard
Got high marks in our card
We maintain it, we took guard
Learning in high school is truly an art
So we entered a new stage
In college, we are now engage
In logic thinking towards new age
Ideas have flied like a bird out of its cage.

Billy
Billy was a good friend of mine
We grew up together ever since we were nine
We went to school, he was my best friend
And I thought our friendship would never end
In high school he played football
And me, I didnt do anything at all
He made touch-downs, while I played pool
And no one could figure out which one of us was the fool
Then we both went to collage
He studied medicine while I studied foliage
He got as and I got ds
He was going for his ph.d.
Then I decided to drop out
Things were getting a little too hot
Billy stayed there, became an intern and then a doctor
Then war broke out and he had to go
But not me, I was mentally unfit, or so they say, so, so
When he came back, he wasnt quite the same
His nerves were shot, but not me
Last time I saw him, I couldnt take it anymore
He wasnt the billy I knew, it was like talking to a door
Billy was a friend of mine
I grew up with him ever since I was nine
We went together through school
And now I often wonder, which one of us was the fool

Bad Trouble
The trouble with bad is that bad is trouble
I trouble to say that the bad is trouble
Yet the bad and the trouble (like sadness and bubbles)
As often seen on T.V. these days
The breadth and the width at school these days
And often after school as well to tell you a truth
The tidal sea-sickness and elementory wrath
Is often mistaken for after school Maths and laughter
So take time seek paths not trodden because
after school there will be food and the occasional mood
and sometimes bad and often trouble
so the trouble with trouble can be bad and sad on T.V..

Dick Cavett Tv Interview
Janis it's a shame you couldn't do an up tune for us but i liked that one.
Later in the show.
Yeah, maybe later we'll be talking too. you're really shot after, after a number, let alone a whole evening i would think.
Yeah, yeah.
You tell me you kind of collapse after a show ?
Well, i'm used to it because i'm so turned on by doing one that it's hard to do, it's hard to stop after one to tell you the truth, because it just makes you wanna do more.
Your engine is revved up ?
Yeah, sort of!
I know all the hip expressions, you see. your engine is revved up.
You're a real swinger, i can tell by your shoes, man!
Wait a minute, janis, janis. these were good enough for my grand-father, they're good enough for me.
I had a lot of trouble, last week i, er, it wasn't that tune, we opened with another tune and i tore a muscle.
I heard about this. you tore a mussel somewhere near maryland. er ...
It was closer to home than that!
Well, er ...
But i played forty minutes, man! i did forty minutes!
Yeah, but how do you, how do you tear a muscle singing, was it from the exhaustion or ...
No, i went ... like that.
You actually, literally tore a muscle ... i mean like that ...
Every time, it hurt.
Could you feel it go ?
Yeah.
Phew!
Yeah.
What do they do, do they set a muscle or do they tape you up or something ?
They told me to keep still.
Janis you wrote that tune that you were just singing like we just agreed to ask about. you er, you wrote the first tune, right ?
I wrote the first tune. it's, er, yes i did, it's about men.
It's about men. it's a little hard to tell what it was about 'cause i was standing over there where the sound is a little distorted.
Well in my story that's what it is anyway.
Yeah.
D'you ever see those mule carts ?
Yeah.
They, er, there's a dumb mule on there right and a long stick with a string and a carrot, and it hangs over the mule's nose, and it runs after it all day long. some ...
Who is the man in this, in this parable, the mule, or the person holding the carrot ?
No, the woman is the, is the mule. chasing something that somebody's holds her way.
Constantly chasing her man ...
Yeah.
... who always eludes her.
Well, they always hold something more than they're prepared to give.
I have to defend my entire sex, ladies and gentlemen! the burden of the defense.
Go right ahead!
Well, one-arm wrestling i can take you two out of three.
I hope so.
Do you, er, do you actually sit down when you get up in the morning and, and write out a song, or do you . . . when you say you write it, you compose it you write it on a paper.
You just make it up, i don't write songs, i make them up.
They don't exist on paper your songs, don't they ?
Sometimes i just write down the words so i don't forget 'em, but i mean i don't write songs, that's a whole different concept. i just make 'em up.
Yeah. did you ever get back to port arthur, texas ?
No, but i'm going back next in august, man. and guess what i'm doin' ?
I don't know.
I'm going to my 10th annual high school reunion.
Oh! oh! take movies and bring 'em back to show us, will you ?
Hey would you like to go ?
Well, i don't remember, i don't have any friends in your high school class.
I don't either. i don't either, believe me.
You don't either ?
It's hard going, man!
Weren't you a kind of a, weren't you kind of a business administration major or something in high school. no, it's something in your past. you were ...
No, i worked.
Yeah.
But a high school major in art does have plenty of time.
Yeah. and do you think you'll have a lot to say to your old high-school classmates ?
I don't have a lot, man.
You were not surrounded by friends in high school ?
They laughed me out of class, out of town, and out of state, man.
Hmm ...
Somethin' goin' on.
Thank you.
Thank you.

The latest lesson of my grandson
Four year old
Daughter's son
Just started talking
In some kind of comprehension
Returned from school
The other day
And there were some guests at home
Some of who were to
See our grandson first time
And it was my daughter's role
To introduce each
Of the guests
To her son
She is your aunty
Say 'Hi' to her
Which my grandson did
He is your 'Anna'
(Anna in Tamil means elder brother, it can be cousin too)
Say 'Hi' to him
Which my grandson did
This your grandma
Say 'Hi' to her
Which my grandson did
This went on
Till the time
All the guests were introduced
It is our practice
To give the child
A handwash immediately after
His retrun back home from school
And I took that charge
While I was helping him
In getting a wash
The fellow asked me
In a low voice like whisper
Are there no good person
Among our guests
Startled I asked him why
And he replied
Just today
School miss said
That all of us should
Grow to become a good person
Mom said these people are
Either grandpas, grandmas,
Uncles, Aunties, Annas or Akkas
But she said none
To be a good person

High Time
You told me good-bye, how was I to know
You didnt mean good-bye, you meant please dont let me go?
I was having a high time, living the good life, well I know
The wheels are muddy, got a ton of hay,
Now listen here, baby, cause I mean what I say.
Im having a hard time, living the good life, well I know.
I was losing time, I had nothing to do,
No one to fight, I came to you.
Wheels broke down, leader wont draw,
The line is busted, the last one I saw.
Tomorrow come trouble, tomorrow come pain,
Now dont think too hard baby, cause I know what Im saying.
I could show you a high time, living the good life, dont be that way.
Nothings for certain, it could always go wrong,
We could have us a high time, living the good life, well I know.

Trouble
Im in a place where nothing ever happens
Ill try one day to walk away
But for now Ill hand around
I am a fool without exception
I break every rule
But I never break away
(trouble) - its walking my way
I feel it moving closer day after day
(trouble) - Im talking to you
Its getting hot in here but what can I do
Sometime, someplace Ill make it happen
Yours is the face, to help me set this time ablaze
Ive always thought theres no protection
Youll walk through the door
And Ill never want for more
(trouble) - again and again
Its not so simple and I never know when
(trouble) - for me and for you
The troubles double now were fighting for two
Well take this place well make it happen
Well leave them behind
Well leave them all to change their minds
The trouble is with the solution
Ones not so strong, but with two of us we cant go wrong
(trouble) - Im talking to you
Its getting hot in here but what can I do
(trouble) - again and again
Its not so simple and I never know when
(trouble) - Im talking to you
Its getting hot in here but what can I do

Strict Time
Theres a hand on a wire that leads to my mouth
I can hear you knocking but Im not coming out
Dont want to be a puppet or a ventriloquist
cause theres no ventilation on a critical list
Fingers creeping up my spine are not mine to resist
Strict time
Chorus:
Toughen up, toughen up
Keep your lip buttoned up
Strict time
Oh the muscles flex and the fingers curl
And a cold sweat breaks out on the sweater girl
Strict time
Oh hes all hands, dont touch that dial
The courting cold wars weekend witch trial
Strict time
All the boys are straight laced and the girls are frigid
The talk is two-faced and the rules are rigid cause its strict time
Strict time
Chorus
You talk in hushed tones, I talk in lush tones
Try to look italian through the musical valium
Strict time
Thinking of grand larceny
Smoking the everlasting cigarette of chastity
Cute assistants staying alive
More like a hand job than the hand jive
Strict time
Chorus

Tuxedos, Lesbians, ACLU Lawyers, Oh My!
Cearra Sturgis wore a tux
For her yearbook picture
Her photo, and all her information,
was banned by the Wesson Attendance Center High School yearbook,
in Jackson, Mississippi, this sucks!
Cearra Sturgis did not show up in showing her crotch
Like the 16 year old girl at Sickes High School last year in 2009
Cearra is self-proclaimed lesbian, what Copiah County School District officials had done,
Was Un-American
What's the American way, non-discrimination, based on sex, gender, color, Creed,
and though some might like it, sexual orientation,
(like the administrators at the county or school; They are such fools!)
if all of the non-discriminatory actions were enacted, all would be fine.
Her mom was almost brought to tears,
'They've got kids in the book that have been busted for drugs... There's even a picture of one of the seniors who dropped out of school. I don't get it. Ceara's a star student... It's like she's nobody there, even though she's gone to school there for 12 years.'
Cierra was not strung out with any drugs, she was a very good student,
She wasn't aggressive, she wouldn't be on The Maury and Steve Wilkos Shows,
She wanted to express herself,
No different than a guy wearing a suit or a gal wearing a dress,
But she is gal that wore a suit,
Again the courts will put this to a litmus test.
And I feel that no one will back down,
Back and forth with contrasting retort
You go girl, landmark decision have been made before, by US Supreme Court.
You will eventually win
Although it can be five to ten years after you have finished school.
The Copiah County School District and Wesson Attendance Center High School administrators should wear a dunce cap and, in the corner, sit on a stool-
-For they have failed US Government History.

Back In The Days
When I was in high school, [1]
When I was in high school, [2]
I was very loud. [1]
I was very shy. [2]
I had a lot of friends, [1]
I had little friends, [2]
my parents were proud, [1]
my parents lived a lie. [2]
When I was in high school, [1]
When I was in high school, [2]
prom was coming next week. [1]
prom was soon coming up. [2]
Daddy bought me a dress, [1]
Momma took me to a shop, [2]
So nervous I couldn't breathe. [1]
bought me a black tux. [2]
When I was in high school, [1]
When I was in high school, [2]
I was the prettiest of them all. [1]
I wasn't noticed well. [2]
There's this boy I barely noticed, [1]
The prettiest girl in school... [2]
is so handsome and so tall. [1]
so pretty and so swell. [2]
When I was in high school, [1]
When I was in high school, [2]
he reached to hold my hand. [1]
I reached for her hand. [2]
As nervous as he was, [1]
My heart shook; my voice was weak, [2]
he asked me to the dance. [1]
I asked her to the dance. [2]
When I was in high school, [1]
When I was in high school, [2]
after the prom I got the news. [1]
I'm to go to war next week. [2]
He was drafted in the army, [1]
I wish there was a way, [2]
and to be sent off too soon. [1]
all I could do was pray. [2]
When I was in high school, [1]
When I was in high school, [2]
I watched him be taken away. [1]
I told her, 'I love you.' [2]
That tall and handsome man, [1]
Tears fell down her cheeks, [2]
is still in my heart to this day. [1]
her hand in marriage; can't take me away. [2]

That's my school
Up at my school
everyone is different
yet we are treated
like an equal
everyone is always smiling
or laughing so hard
they start to cry
that's my school
a lot of people
go through my school
home of the blue jays
to cool for school
standing tall upon the hill
behind all the trees
stands the blue jay's school
yup, that's my school
each person is unique
form the clothes
to the hair
to their personality
each person is free
to express themselves
and be who they want
that's my school
WHS blue jay pride
that's something
that can never be beat
and something that we can't hide
friends come and go
but one thing will live on
the pride we had for our team
just like my school did
no matter where I go
or how far I leave town
I'll always be proud to say
WHS in WashMo is my school.

Teachers Pet
My formal education
Never bothered
With my abcs
Teacher student relation
Taught me all about
The birds and bees
School boy fantasy
Lose control
Of all my faculties
You know that one thing
That got through to me
Was her body chemistry
Subject to body language
Aint so bad to read
Between the lines
I scored above average
Oral examination
Is where I shine
School boy fantasy
Lose control
Of all my faculties
Student body graduated
At the highest degree
You know that one thing
That got through to me
Was her body chemistry
Purely scientifically
Studied her anatomy
Teachers pet, teachers pet
God only knows what you
Do to me

Im Looking At You But Im Talking To Myself
Im looking at you but Im talking to myself
Looking straight at you but Im talking to myself
Talking to myself
cause I still can remember
Words that didnt sound so well planned
What is wrong with me?
You dont have to pretend to understand
Every moment, I am thinking to myself
It seems so different, I am thinking to myself
Thinking to myself
And I dont want to face it
Why is everything so past tense?
What is wrong with me?
This just dont seem to make any sense
And Im looking at you but Im talking to myself
Looking straight at you but Im talking to myself
It wasnt over, I was hoping to myself
Weve got forever, I was hoping to myself
Hoping to myself
And for a shred of a second
I thought we could still change our fate
What is wrong with me?
I can see its already way too late
cause youre looking at me but youre talking to
Yourself
Looking straight at me but youre talking to yourself
And Im looking at you but Im talking to myself
Looking straight at you but Im talking to myself

Tonight We're Gonna Tear Down The Walls
(Randy Travis/Jim Sales)
Tonight were gonna tear down the walls
Were gonna laugh and drink and dance and have a ball
The good times ain't over after all
And tonight we're gonna tear down the walls
It seems we let the hard times come between us
Like a wall around our hearts we couldn't see
Hard luck and trouble came rainin down upon us
They almost got the best of you and me
Once we loved to stay at home and make love
Now work is all we ever seem to do
We been spendin too much time makin money
I think its time we had a laugh or two
Tonight were gonna tear down the walls
Were gonna laugh and drink and dance and have a ball
The good times ain't over after all
And tonight we're gonna tear down the walls
It seems we let the hard times come between us
Like a wall around our hearts we couldn't see
Hard luck and trouble came rainin down upon us
They almost got the best of you and me
You put your party clothes and makeup
And Ill polish that ol truck until it shines
Dont worry bout a thing til monday mornin
Just leave hard luck and troubles far behind
(cause)
Tonight were gonna tear down the walls
Were gonna laugh and drink and dance and have a ball
The good times ain't over after all
And tonight we're gonna tear down the walls

Growing Up The Hard Way
Hes got nothing to say, hes got no excuse
Hes just made that way, and hes gonna stay that way
Like a dog on the loose in a firework display in a world of his own
No, no, no, he wont back down or go running back home
Hes come a long way in life
Hes got a long way to go
He dont even know, he dont care because
Hes growing up the hard way
In and out of trouble every day
Growing up the hard way
Now no tellin where youll end up, boy
And hes got nothing to say, like hes lost for the worlds, his mind is in a daze
Thats his way, its just a little game he plays
Hes got nowhere to run while the city sleeps he wanders alone
Cuttin through the steel and the hearts of stone
Hes come a long way in life
Hes got a long way to go
He dont even know, but he dont care because
Hes growing up the hard way
In and out of trouble every day
Growing up the hard way
Youd better walk the straight and narrow
Growing up the hard way
In and out of trouble every day
Growing up the hard way
Never know what youre in for, boy
Hes come a long way in life
Hes got a long way to go
He dont wanna know, and he dont care because
Hes growing up the hard way
In and out of trouble every day
Hes growing up the hard way
Yeah, and hes gonna stay that way
You see, hes growing up the hard way
Walk the straight and narrow yeah, maybe someday
But still hes growing up the hard way
Its just the way hes grown up
Yeah, growing up the hard way
There aint no other way
Growing up the hard way

Cool Scene
Well I'm just not making a scene, and I really don't feel like I need.
I really don't mean that it's cool, didn't really wanna be in high school.
I'm dealing with the things that I've been, if it wasn't so appropriate then.
I really don't care what I sing, and I really doubt you know what I mean.
And I really don't mean that it's cool, didn't really wanna be in high school.
All the talking fools, what it means, last I've seen.
Baby it's all me, I'm just not making a scene,
and I really felt that you're a cool being.
I really don't know what I mean, and it really isn't worth the trying.
I'm feeling pretty chill with nothing,
like I'm livin' in a world that follows you.
And I really think you know your friends man,
like you're livin' in a social hydrant.
I really don't mean that it's cool, didn't really wanna be in high school.
All the talking fools, what it means, the last I seen.
Baby It's all me. Didn't really wanna be in high school.
All the talking fools, what it means, last I seen, Baby it's all me
