A change of wardrobe
A change of wardrobe
~
a time has come to change
throw out the tattered rags
the old worn threads
usher in some new colour
brighter and more cheerful
something fresh to wear
a more comfortable fit
a sharper look to be seen in
a time has come to change
redress the wardrobe
and improve the self
cast away the old suits
which had seen better days
and step out to be seen
a newer you awaits
a change of wardrobe

The Highway of Exce$$
The Highway of Exce$$
I'm just another failure
on the Highway of excess.
My children disrespect me,
and my wife is unimpressed.
These days a hundred thou$and
doesn’t get you very far.
I'm wearing last year's wardrobe
and I drive a pre-owned car.
My son's friends drive Mercedes
that their Daddy's dollars bought.
I bought my son a Nano.
Its an Indian import.
Ive got two kids in College
with tuition payments due.
Each year their teachers revise texts
And make you buy them new.
I dread the thirteenth of each month
When charge card bills arrive
They follow up with phone calls
To make sure I'm still alive.
I stimulate the economy
With cash I don't possess
I'm like Barrack Obama
On the highway of excess.

Out Of The Wardrobe
Has anybody here seen a chick called dick
He looks real burly but hes really hip
Hes six feet tall and his arms are all brown and hairy
Well, he married betty lou back in 65 when you had to be butch to survive
But lately hes been looking at his wife with mixed emotions
You see, hes not a common place closet queen
He shouldnt be hidden, he should be seen
cos when he puts on that dress
He looks like a princess
The day he came out of the wardrobe
Betty lou got quite a surprise
She didnt know whether she should get angry or not bat an eye
She really couldnt call up her mother
Mama would positively die
Should she go or stay or should she try to get a trial separation
You see, hes not a faggot as you might suppose
He just feels restricted in conventional clothes
cos when he puts on that dress, he feels like a princess
Hes not a dandy, hes only living out a fantasy
Hes not a pansy, hes only being what he wants to be
Now his life is rearranged and hes grateful for the change
Hes out of the wardrobe and now hes got no regrets
Betty lou didnt know what to do at first
But shes learning how to cope at last
Shes got the best of both worlds
And shes really in a state of elation
She says it helps their relationship
She says a change is as good as a rest
And their friends finally coming round to their way of thinking
She wears the trousers and smokes the pipe
And he washes up
She helps him wipe
cos when he puts on that dress
He looks like a princess
Hes out of the wardrobe and hes feeling alright
Hes out of the wardrobe and hes feeling satisfied
Now its farewell to the past
The secrets out at last
Hes out of the wardrobe and now hes got no regrets

My Nordic Christmas Story
I bought boots for Christmas to tread the icy plains.
I bought toys for Christmas with Santas in my trains.
I lit my home for Christmas with a Cedar bright.
I made cup cakes for Christmas for my love's delight.
I bought Jane a dress for Christmas with ribbons pink.
I bought for my grandma a cozy Christmas mink.
I bought for Jill two amazing Christmas Sparrows.
I bought for Jack a toy quiver full of arrows.
I bought an Elk for Christmas with nose giving light.
I bought for Christmas, candles for a solemn night.
I made for Christmas a warm and sweet lemonade,
and I sang on Christmas morn, a sweet Serenade.

Cant Be Really Gone
Her hat is hanging by the door
The one she bought in mexico
It blocked the wind, it stopped the rain
Shed never leave that one
So she cant be really gone
The shoes she bought on christmas eve
She laughed and said they called her name
Its like theyre waiting in the hall
For her to slip them on
So she cant be really gone
Chorus:
I dont know when shell come back back
She must intend to come back
And Ive seen the error of my ways
Dont waste the tears on me
What more proof do you need
Just look around the room
So much of her remains
Her book is lying on the bed
The two of hearts to mark her page
Now who could ever walk away at chapter 21
So she cant be really gone
Bridge:
Just look around this room
So much of her remains
Her book is lying on the bed
The two of hearts to mark her page
Now who could ever walk away with so much left undone
So she cant be really gone
No she cant be really gone

A book.
Shelves of books with variant topics:
Medicine, Engineering and comics,
Languages, Management and Marketing,
Tourism, Text books and Computing,
House hold, Carpentry and plumbing,
Trucks, Driving and operating.
Must choose one to taste,
Read regularly to last,
A full term of life and love,
Nourish it with the dose of care,
Can buy it from the stores,
That sells New, second hand and old,
When the new book is bought,
The smell itself fresh and great,
To remember for the life throughout,
Keep it as a Holy book and enjoy,
When the used books are purchased,
Rarely used books, never opened,
A few half read and half left,
A few stained and battered,
A few has the quotations underlined,
When the old books are bought,
The papers are oxidized and yellow,
Touch it, fragile, handle with care,
Though the contents may be good,
Prints are washed out and hard to see,
Heavily tainted of weather.
Whether you buy the new or the used book,
Make sure that you choose the right book,
Then read chapter by chapter leaving no nook,
Sometimes it thrills and shrills,
It is hilarious and comical,
If it is full of mysteries,
Try to solve it with your knowledge,
Don't slam and tear it,
Not touch it with your drug fingers,
Not read it with your spirited mind,
You will misunderstand the contents,
Promise yourself you will not make,
Your book an used and neglected book again.

Three Roses
Sitting by the fireside with a book in your hand
Two lazy dogs sittin watchin your man
Three roses were bought with you in mind
Three roses were bought with you in mind
I gotta stop and see what Im on about
Stop and feel what I want I gotta
Stop and see what Im on about
Stop and feel what I want with you
Ah
Walking through a wonderland, I got you by the hand
Every move we made, just as if it were planned
Three roses were bought with you in mind
Three roses were bought with you in mind
I gotta stop and see what Im on about
Stop and feel what I want I gotta
Stop and see what Im on about
Stop and feel what I want with you
Ah

Why.............?
The American book of 'why',
The Asian book of 'why',
The European book of 'why',
The African book of 'why',
The Australian book of 'why',
The most asked question in the valley of world events;
Especially when one explodes a bomb!
The Christian book of 'why',
The Muslim book of 'why',
The Jewish book of 'why',
The Hindu book of 'why',
The Krishna book of 'why',
lLife is like the yeast which makes the bread rise;
But, the writer always has his or her own mind.
The Pagan book of 'why',
The Buddhist book of 'why',
The Protestant book of 'why',
The Confucian book of 'why',
To all life's aspects with the remaining books of 'why';
Poetry is the literature that muses with the mind.
Shall the trumpet be blown in the city and,
The people will not be afraid?
Seven bulls and seven rams,
I am the planted tree by the rivers of waters.
I am very young in years but,
The word 'why' is the question that goes around easily.

Dreams In My Hands
Crisis solved, stuck glitter pencils to the
wall of the office, bought a supposedly
identical doll to the one standing next to
me already but she is not identical at all
Her colour is different, her mouth a little
nicer so she looks kinder and her dress
is white giving her a shine while the first
one looks sad in a plum-coloured dress
Also bought 3-D stickers of ships to set
my mind free and the symbolism works,
too beautiful to take out of the packet as
yet so anchored to the wall with a cross
Gone the feeling of oppression, gone the
anxiety of unfounded fear, also bought a
workman bag to carry my book - ‘Johnny
and the Dead' and my handbag and now
I feel better again - holding dreams in my
hands, Little First and Little Second make
me glad as the first doll now has a friend

Look What Your Money Bought
Cherry Stem in her mouth she could tie in a knot
Favorite trick she does, One in ten that she's got
Making friends, setting trends, hardly having to try
All the looks, by the book, best that money can buy
Look what your money bought
It's all that she's got
It keeps her company
Straight from Mom and Daddy
Last chance to dance, our in back of the bar
Shakin' hands, nice to meet you, I don't know who you are
She has a toke and makes a joke about the alley man
Never pleasured from the treasure in a garbage can
Look what your money bought
It's all that she's got
It keeps her company
Straight from Mom and Daddy
Cherry Stem in her mouth she could tie in a knot
Favorite trick she does, One in ten that she's got
Making friends, setting trends, hardly having to try
All the looks, by the book, best that money can buy

A Great Man's House
It was written in marble in golden letters:
here a great man lived and worked and died.
He laid the gravel for these paths personally.
This bench — do not touch — he chiseled by himself
out of stone.
And — careful, three steps — we're going inside.
He made it into the world at just the right time.
Everything that had to pass, passed in this house.
Not in a high rise,
not in square feet, furnished yet empty,
amidst unknown neighbors,
on some fifteenth floor,
where it's hard to drag school field trips.
In this room he pondered,
in this chamber he slept,
and over here he entertained guests.
Portraits, an armchair, a desk, a pipe, a globe, a flute,
a worn-out rug, a sun room.
From here he exchanged nods with his tailor and
shoemaker
who custom made for him.
This is not the same as photographs in boxes,
dried out pens in a plastic cup,
a store-bought wardrobe in a store-bought closet,
a window, from which you can see clouds better
than people.
Happy? Unhappy?
That's not relevant here.
He still confided in his letters,
without thinking they would be opened on their
way.
He still kept a detailed and honest diary,
without the fear that he would lose it during a
search.
The passing of a comet worried him most.
The destruction of the world was only in the hands
of God.
He still managed not to die in the hospital,
behind a white screen, who knows which one.
There was still someone with him who remembered
his muttered words.
He partook of life
as if it were reusable:
he sent his books to be bound;
he wouldn't cross out the last names of the dead from
his address book.
And the trees he had planted in the garden behind
the house
grew for him as Juglans regia
and Quercus rubra and Ulmus and Larix
and Fraxinus excelsior.

The Best Book In The World
the best book
in the world
the only true book
is the world itself
the Book of Nature
the best book is the silence
the wordless-ness in
the clouds and the sky
and the rivers and the oceans
and the lands
and the grass that breaks through the concrete;
and in the deserts and the volcanoes
and the stars
and the moon
and the creatures of the earth
and in all fellow beings
and the vastness beyond
and the vastness within
the best book
the only true book
(every other book is distortion)
is the world itself
the Book of Nature:
read it

Book Agent Story
As we have given several humorous Scottish stories in verse we will venture to
trespass on your good nature by giving an American specimen. The scene is laid
in the suburbs of New York. It was a prose tale, and we fancy we have not
diminished the height, breadth or depth of the humour by grinding it in our
poetical mill and having it flow out in rhyme.
There is a man, his name is Brown,
He lives in a suburban town
And has an office in the city,
His misfortunes you will pity.
His mind it was on stocks and change,
He cared not for things new or strange ;
But agent managed him to hook
And sold to him a costly book.
Brown cared not for those glorious names-
Died for religion in the flames;
Now he felt agent was a Tartar
For selling him a book of martyr.
The agent knew it would make strife,
But sold another to his wife;
She did not know that Brown had bought,
And agent on her easy wrought .
Approaching her with winning smile
He poor woman did beguile.
He made her believe without a doubt
No Christian could do without
This book, which would all inspire
With spark of celestial fire,
With feelings like the first martyr
Who had died for Christian charter.
When Brown did home return at night
His wife, to add to his delight,
Resolved that she would, after tea,
Get chatting with her husband free
And tell him of fine book she bought ;
Of trouble fresh she never thought,
But she noticed a gloomy frown
On the brow of her husband Brown,
But thought when I my purchase tell
Those dark clouds they will dispel ;
She said, my dear, I bought martyr,
He looked as if he her could quarter.
And said the scoundrel sold me book ;
Out of the window then he did look
And saw the agent haste to train ;
He tried to stop him, but in vain ;
Smith then was passing in spring waggon,
And he had his trotting nag on ;
He told him to stop book agent ;
His escape for to prevent,
Smith told him Brown wanted him ;
But agent-nothing daunted him ;
Said he : He only wants to barter
With me for my book of Martyr.
If thats all, said Smith, with quick dash,
Give me his book, and here's your cash ;
Book agent jumped aboard the car,
For he knew there would be war;
Smith met Brown with triumphant look-
Said he : I have got you the book ;
Brown's feelings now no one could paint,
He there did show he was no saint ;
But to big own home he now returned,
And fierce rage in his bosom burned ;
He was not fit for Knight of Garter
When he brought in the third martyr.
