An audience is going to be able to find a little bit of Dorothy in themselves and relate to this woman.: roles like Dorothy Day are so rare in Hollywood.

Dorothy Parker
Dorothy Parker [Controversy Music, ASCAP - 1987]
--------------
Dorothy was a waitress on the promenade
She worked the night shift
Dishwater blonde, tall and fine
She got a lot of tips
Well, earlier I'd been talkin' stuff
In a violent room
Fighting with lovers past
I needed someone with a quicker wit than mine
Dorothy was fast
Well, I ordered - "Yeah, let me get a fruit cocktail, I ain't 2 hungry"
Dorothy laughed
She said "Sounds like a real man 2 me"
Kinda cute, U wanna take a bath?
(do you wanna, do you wanna, bath)
I said "Cool, but I'm leaving my pants on" (she say)
"Cuz I'm kind of going with someone"
She said "Sounds like a real man 2 me"
"Mind if I turn on the radio?"
"Oh, my favorite song" she said
And it was Joni singing "Help me I think I'm falling"
(Ring)
The phone rang and she said
"Whoever's calling can't be as cute as U"
Right then I knew I was through
(Dorothy Parker was cool)
My pants where wet, they came off
But she didn't see the movie
Cuz she hadn't read the book first
Instead she pretended she was blind
An affliction brought on by a witch's curse
Dorothy made me laugh (ha ha)
I felt much better so I went back
2 the violent room (tell us what U did)
Let me tell U what I did...
I took another bubble bath with my pants on
All the fighting stopped
Next time I'll do it sooner

Dorothy, My Darling
Dorothy, My darling, is the love of my life
My lover, my sweetheart and my wonderful wife
For fifty years my love has blossomed and grown
And she's the most wonderful woman I have known.
There will never be another woman for me
For no one else can compare with my Dorothy
My soul mate and girlfriend throughout those many years
Walking with me through times of joy and times of tears.
To this day, I don't know what shapes a Hollywood career.

My Ode To Love
Twirling
Falling aimlessly
My ode to love was inaudible
Whirling against the breath and sigh

I don't care how good a song is - if it holds back the storyline, stalls the plot, your audience will reject it.

Be Audience Rare
do not write
to fickle audience
be audience rare

Foot Prints In The Snow
Footprints in the snow
Little faces all aglow
Voices filled with song and laughter
Echoing toward the pale sky rafters
Snow people soon appear
So happy snow days are here!

The long nosed ridged backed swamp whippet
We had to leave new Zealand shores, in rain an snow an fog
just me and my adversary by that I mean my dog!
a pig dog was Dorothy, a holder of the best
the first to feel the tusk, she would never let it rest
teeth barded she would attack, from front or from the rear
she grabbed at their extremities to her she knew no fear
we landed on the Aussie shores, an to the great out back
we slept amongst the stars at night where the abbo's track
we came upon a wayside pub, we were tired and dry
our swag a burden on our backs at night beneath the sky
the landlord said to me, is that a fighting dog?
I said with a grimace, with a chance she would!
I have a dog out beyond, will you take a bet on him!
landlord for free beer I'll even let him sing!
out the back the landlords dog was long and lean and thin
I'd never seen the likes of him or anything close to him!
what kind of dog is that I said, for sure I'd never seen
It’s a 'long nosed ridged backed swamp whippet'
and for a fight he's very keen!
Dorothy, looked at him then looked again at me
I said go on sweetheart let his soul go free!
the whippet took her leg, but she just gave a groan
in she rushed and grabbed his tail, and took it to the bone
it was in a flash the whippet caught Dorothy by the head
it was over in a flash, for poor Dorothy was dead!
money changed hands and I was all alone
the whippet had eaten Dorothy all was left was bone!
the landlord told me of his dog, of tales I'd never heard,
the beers on me tonight, not another word
What was the breed of dog that took my Dorothy
a Long nosed ridged backed swamp whippet, it very plain to see
the locals call them crocodiles but that’s, between you, and me!

Outside the spring is blossoming
(after Dorothy Parker)
Outside the spring is blossoming
while a myriad of birds sing,
later in the afternoon
it might be raining
but it matters not,
even the summer days that I have got
are far too quickly passing
and some are cold and others hot.
There’s a new lady that I might adore
waiting at my front door
and I wonder what will be
her impression of me?
I see her sparkling eyes and shining hair
while she looks lovely and fair,
if she stays or leaves, such things have happened before,
she will be only one more.
