I think my dad is a lot cooler than other dads. He still acts like he's still 17.

Rays Dads Cadillac

Rays dads cadillac
Rollin past the rink
Past the record shack
Pink fins in the falling rain
Rollin
To the blue lights past the water mains
Rays dads cadillac
Weekends wed get
Rays dads cadillac
Rock n roll in the dashboard
Romance in the back of
Rays dads cadillac
Rays dad teaches math
Zero
Im a dunce
Im a decimal in his class
Last nights kisses wont erase
Zero
I just cant keep the numbers in their place
Rays dads cadillac
Last night we had
Rays dads cadillac
Rock n roll in the dashboard
Romance in the back of
Rays dads cadillac
When it comes to mathematics
I got static in the attic
No sir, nothins clear!
Ill be blackboard blind on monday
Dreamin of blue runways
On the edge of here
A little atmosphere
Blue lights out on airport road
Motown, in a field in a farmers grove
Big planes comin overhead
Lowdown
You can see the bolts
You can see the tire treads
Rays dads cadillac
Weekends wed get
Rays dads cadillac
Oh, little darlin

Tough Little Boys

I never once, backed down from a punch.
I'd take it square on the chin.
Well I found out fast a bullys just that and you got to stand up to him.
So I didn't cry when I got a black eye as bad as it hurt I just grinned.
But when tough little boys grow up to be Dads
They turn into big babies again.
Scared me to death when took your first steps,
Well I'd fall everytime you fell down.
Your first day of school,
I cried like a fool, I followed your school bus to town.
Well I didn't cry when ol Yeller died
at least not in front of my friends.
But when tough little boys grow up to be
Dads they turn into big babies again.
Well I'm a grown man and as strong as I am.
Well sometimes it's hard to believe,
One little girl with little blonde curls can totally terrify me.
If you were to ask my wife would just laugh ,
she'd say I know all about men,
how tough little boys grow up to be Dads
they turn into big babies again.
Well I know one day I'll give you away
and I'm goin to stand there and smile.
When I get home and I'm all alone,
I'll sit in your room for awhile.
Cause when tough little boys grow up to be
Dads they turn into big babies again

An act of poetry

Ruin is what we need –
Despair is what we feed
Upon in poetry

A shock resets the nerves –
Helps remould the curves
Of written art

Catharsis helps portray –
Acting out a play
On expurgation

Tears or hidden fears
Release the bottled years
To ink a page:

The pen be our salvation.

Water Cooler Blues

There is no point getting hysterical,
Thinking you've become a hard-wired machine.
So what if each day is identical?
Numb your nerve endings with the TV screen.
Sing the water cooler blues.

You can reproduce the same, tired phrases,
Enable yourself to enhanced work skills
While imagining such better places
Where you'll always have too much time to kill.
Sing the water cooler blues.

Carlos Castaneda

Malicious acts are performed by people for personal gain … Sorcerers, though, have an ulterior purpose for their acts, which has nothing to do with personal gain. The fact that they enjoy their acts does not count as gain. Rather, it is a condition of their character. The average man acts only if there is a chance for profit. Warriors say they act not for profit but for the spirit.

0007 African Child

What's that dirty mark on the carpet in front of the TV, Mom?
That's just a shadow from tne screen, dear.

I feel sick, Mom, I must've eaten something nasty?
I expect it's that film, dear..shall we turn it off?

Is that a boy or girl baby crying, Mom?
Didn't notice dear, why, does it matter?
What's that group of men just off-screen, Dad?
They're just interested in the film.
Then why aren't they with the Moms, helping?
They may not be the fathers, dear.
(She's too young yet, to know about child-rape, honey,
though I guess we'll have to tell her sometime...)

Then where are their real Dads?
I expect they're dead, dear.
Dad you won't die will you, promise?
I hope not, darling, I'll try not to...

Why are they so hungry, Dad, when the TV can go there?
Their country's in a mess, dear.
But they always used to have enough to eat,
otherwise they wouldn't have dads and moms themselves?
It's a long and sad story, darling, I'm not sure
that I can explain it to you. I wish I knew the answer.

Will those flies on the babies' eyes come off the screen, come here?
No darling, it's Africa.
Don't they hurt? Why don't their Dads brush them off
instead of just standing there?
I expect they're used to them in Africa, dear..
shall we turn the TV off?
No I want to watch, I want to help them.
That's very good of you, darling, maybe
when you're grown up? It may be better then.

What will make it better, Dad?

Be more than a pet

In love with my pet, I did many acts,
Sensing that it liked each of my acts.
It was not to condemn but ready to amend,
When it disapproved of any of my acts,
For it knows my pulse and throbs.
As I hold you, dear, as more than a pet
Can you ditch me for any shortfall?
Is not it a fault of your closed mindedness?

Be superior to, and kinder than, a pet.

Work Place, Equality and Freedom

We struggle with it
under many names;
we all feel the tension
and the tug-
how can I as a child
learn equality
and go to work
where
equality dies
in the bureaucracy-
a lonely stepchild?

Where in the hierarchical
schema chart
does Freedom live?

Where is Justice
in the work place Meeting With Staff?

No, we all have bosses
and contemplate each day
where do my child-learned
ideals fit?

I will tell you;
in the Water Cooler Gossip Group.

There is where Justice is done
complaints are vented,
where equality before the H2O
is talked about and dispensed.

How can
what I learned democracy is
be banned from my work space?

How can Fairness and Morality
be slaughtered like the lamb
in the hierarchy?

We have revolutions not because of the
ruling class
but because of the anger exposed
and felt
before the Water-Cooler Deity;
where
shock and awe
exist,
where plots and plans
from the latest
gossip-tidbit
to strategic strategies shared
among participants
who like soldiers and couriers
make sure to dispense
each bon mot and redemption
far and wide
among those who did not make
the morning
Water-Cooler Meet.

True community
exists here,
at Water Cooler Church
complete
with the Paper Water Cooler
Communion Cup.
Drink up-
Salvation is Coming.

Truths long concealed
bubble up
Truthiness is clear like
Evian
and we drink it down
and steeled,
return
to that cubicle space
for another run
at Demon Boss
who hovers
overhead;
the Lufiwaulfe;
verbal bombs and
critiques
in the bomb bay
ready for release.

Excuse me
I need a drink.
Can't stand too much more
of this Faux-Equality.

Moral Fiber!

true moral fiber...
is grounded in respect!
respect yourself!
respect the earth!
respect your neighbor!
(everyone is your neighbor)
respect the search for truth.
respect justice!
respect the rights of human beings
to be human beings!
respect the need of each and all!

living thus...
will not allow you to respect,
acts of injustice,
acts of ignorance,
acts of prejudice,
acts of greed!

be respect!

A Dad

any man can be a father
but! not every man can be a dad.
(which is sad)

they help to bring you into a life unknown
.then at your mother, he throws stones.
he did not think of the ripple
effects this would have.

he thought just of his lust
and she of him-' put her trust.'

they say a rolling stone gathers no moss
i guess with him-it's just a loss.
it's easy to shrug the responsibilities
as you can plainly see.

but a father/dad is there at the dropp of a hat
to pick up any slack.
he is there to change your diapers
and to clean up your mess,
this is part of dads test.

he is there when you are sick,
and have your first tooth.
always there to play games with you
after a hard days work.
and listen to all that you have to say
this is 'a true dads way'.

a dad is there to wipe away your tears
and take away all your fears.
a dad is there at school plays,
baseball games, graduations for his child.
for he knows that it is worth while.

he is there every step of the way
until you are old and gray.

so to this ' i will say'
i'll love you my child
for always.

Cats

Cats, who needs them?

My cat sleeps all day and leaves the house in the evening,
but before going it changes from an indolent being that
likes to be stroked to a cooler creature that prefers to be
left alone; it treats me as a tiresome stranger and waits
for me to open the door. Should I be outside and see it,
the cat acts as if it doesn’t know me and runs away if I call
its name. In the morning it waits for me to open the door
to let it in, a jovial feline that gently curls up on the sofa
But there are nights when it is raining, or windy when it
doesn’t want to go out then it likes to sit on my desk just
watching me use the key board on the computer, often it
walks on the board wondering what it is about. But I can’t
bring myself to be as rude to the cat as it often is to me...
like I should be its bloody slave.
