We know these men are professionals whose services are up for bid and whose bags are packed, and yet we call them our own and take personal, even civic pride in their accomplishments.

Leaving Home
My bags are packed
and I’m leaving home.
My old heart wants to roam.
I don’t know where I am going
and I don’t know how long I’ll be gone
or when I’ll be back again.
There is wanderlust in my soul,
a call I have to answer.
My bags are packed
and I am leaving today.
I will be back when my wanderings are though.
How many days that will be,
is hard to tell, only that I must go.

Alright For An Hour
(rod stewart, jessie ed davis, 1975/76)
Oh, didnt I mess around like evrybody did?
I said, woman, youre foolin around with a man that just dont fit.
I said, Id better get along before I get right under your skin.
Remember the song, wasnt it fun, cause it was just one of those things.
But it was alright for an hour; it was alright for a day.
But it did not last, it did not last till the weekend,
And I packed my bags and moved right away.
I said goodbye to money, I dont owe no alimony.
I paid my dues and payroll cues, gonna leave it all up to you.
Ill take my dog and my car, the best friends Ive found so far,
And Ill keep goin with the mornin sun, singin the same old song.
But it was alright for an hour; it was alright for a day.
But it did not last, it did not last till the weekend,
And I packed my bags and moved right away.
Well I guess you needed somebody to open each and evry door
With a large amount in the swiss account to give you thrills and nothing more.
But my volkswagen is hardly a custom built ferarri.
You want firstclass but I pump gas, so Ill get on out of your way.
But it was alright for an hour; it was alright for a day.
But it did not last, it did not last till the weekend,
And I packed my bags and moved right away.
It was alright for an hour; it was alright for a day.
But it did not last, it did not last till the weekend,
And I packed my bags and moved right away.

Animal Magic
What did you mean when you opened your mouth
And let all our secrets out
You told him what I was about
My cover was completely blown
I tell you darlin, Ive been watching the war film
I got a few ideas of my own
cos after teh film had ended the call for recruits was shown
And Im joining the professionals
I want to be a man
With all that animal magic
Ill do anything you can
Im joining the professionals
cos I want to be a man
Look! I wave my wand, watch the rabbit disappear
Join the professionals and learn to fight
I bet the two of you still laugh at me
For being as timid as a lamb
That may be still the way I look
Its no longer what I am
Been across to northern ireland
I came home with a new kind of charge
I learned to hunt in the night
I learned about camouflage
Been joining the professionals
And now that Im a man
With all that animal magic
Ill match anything you can
Im joining the professionals
This time Ill understand
Theres no way youll get by me
With the slightest sleight of hand.
Im joining the professionals
I want to be a man
Look! I wave my wand
Watch the rabbit disappear
Join the professionals and learn to fight
Animal magic

Punching bag..
Have a few friends, is good,
Be attached with our relatives, is the best,
because we can make them,
the punching bags.
quiet punching bags,
listening punching bags,
tolerant punching bags and
comforting punching bags.
They are just a call away,
call them with confidence,
talk to them,
we are happy and no stress.
They are just a call away,
call them with confidence,
share your thoughts,
only to people, trustworthy.
Stay alone not good,
be a punching bag,
to others. Listen to them,
there will no stressed out people,
loose on the roads,
tears in the eyes,
clouds in the brain,
betrayal in the heart,
looking for booze and drugs.

Arrogance Of Man
arrogance of man is a defect
what you see is what you get
they say pride comes before the fall
some can not see this at all
pride in accomplishments
pride in family
pride in self
are all good atributes
unless others are treated inferior
never looking beyond their exterior
we are all equal under gods eyes
and we all will one day die
be kind to one another
and not let arrogance
cause decay
it was never meant to be that way

For this reason, it is essential that our Nation's rural transportation professionals be provided with the necessary tools and support to promote and showcase the value, benefits, and accomplishments of rural transportation planning and development.
The MVP award was very satisfying in terms of personal accomplishments, but the championship was the most important thing of all.
Rain
Well I wope up one morning
Seen my baby fly away
Sugar dont go
She said I dont be treatin her
Right by the things I say
Sugar dont go
Dont go, I feel Ill be left alone
And Ill cry
Oh in the rain
Early one morning I packed her bags
She said she gotta leave me now
Ive done her wrong
I said baby Im gonna change
Gonna change for the better
Sugar dont go
You cant be leaving me so alone
And Ill cry in the rain
In the rain
Oh in the rain
In the rain
Sugar go
Now sugar go you leave me alone
As you packed your bags
Youve got your plane on the road
I said oh whyd you leave
Oh whyd you leave
You gotta leave me alone
Im feeling sad
Im feeling sad
You gotta back off
Baby you treat me
Baby you treat me
My life and I could take my time
I lose it
What I have
Is what I have
Is what I give to you
And I feel Im gone
Ive been crying
What you gonna do
Who you gonna see
Where you gonna pack your bags
And where you gonna stay
Say where you gonna go
Who you gonna ho
Where you gonna lay your hat today
I said what you gotta change what you gonna do
Where you gonna lay your mines down
What you gonna do
What you gonna take
Where you gonna go baby
Who you gonna
Stay with me again
I said move it on
Oh I said move it on
I said move it on
Oh wont you move it on down the line
Well on down the line
I said pack your bags now baby
You gotta move it on down the line
I said I wanna tell you
Say, what you gonna do
Who you gonna stay
Where you gonna ho your ass out all over town
Baby, where you gonna go
Who you gonna see
What you gonna do with your time
I said what you gonna do
Who you gonna take
Where you gonna lay your hat down
Where you gonna call your home
Where you gonna go
Who you gonna see
What you gonna do with your time
I said move it on
Oh wont you move it on
I said move it on
Hey you gotta move it on down the line
Well on down the line
I said move it on down
I said move it on down
Said what you gonna do
Where you gonna stay
Who you gonna ho your ass out
Baby where you lay your hat today
I said what you gonna do
Who you gonna see
Where you gonna go and spend your time to be
Baby,
What you gonna do
Who you gonna see
Where you gonna go
When I set you free
I said move it on
Oh wont you move it on
Hey move it on
Oh wont you move it on down
On down the line
Oh baby, I said baby
I said baby
I said baby
I said what you gonna do you with your time now woman
You got asked to leave now
Pack your bags you gotta go
Where you gonna go
Who you gonna see
When you lay your hat down tighter
I said move it on

Sunspot Baby
Words and music by bob seger
She packed up her bags and she took off down the road
Left me here stranded with the bills she owed
She gave me a false address
Took off with my american express
Sunspot baby
She sure had me way outguessed
She left me here stranded like a dog out in the yard
Charged up a fortune on my credit card
She used my address and my name
Man that was sure unkind
Sunspot baby
She sure has a real good time
I looked in miami
I looked in negril
The closest I came was a month old bill
I checked the bahamas and they said she was gone
I cant understand why she did me so wrong
But she packed up her bags
And she took off down the road
Said she was going to visit sister flo
She used my address and my name
And man that was sure unkind
Sunspot baby
Im gonna catch up sometime
Sure had a real good time

Professsional
PROFESSIONALS
It is his loved profession
As good as any occupation
Indeed a damned lucrative one
Yes! He is a born politician
People bowed him; not known
Whether it’s fear or devotion
But made he name and fame
And amassed wealth aplenty
Ample for his progeny
To guzzle for generations many
Earns he easily his yearned goals
Votes or any profitable posts
He expects nothing free to fall
Ready to pay in full to all
Be it dhal or alcohol
Sari, dhoti or a cotton shawl
Payola is his way to enthrall
To deal with his criminal trials
Hires he witnesses; those are professionals
For his public rallies
Engages he rowdies; those are professionals
To erase his enemies
Employed he in permanence
Personnel; those are real professionals
One day died he of a spell
Of unknown virus; doctors knew not well
His son as a true scion did deal
So nicely; like a true professional
While he got busy reading his father’s will
Entrusted the weeping menial
To mourners; those are professionals

Who Then Amongst Them
Who then amongst them...
Did not have achievement on their minds?
Or a way of life documented,
With 'acceptable' accomplishments...
Planned with pre-requisites?
Who then amongst them...
Did not have children with the same beliefs.
A working ethic kept to produce a life of ease.
A good job with a home marked by a picked fence.
Neighbors with the same ideals,
Who socialized at the same events.
Standards and values,
That were glued and secured...
Defended with pretense.
Who then amongst them,
Knew...
The future ahead held darkness instead.
Who then amongst them knew...
A way of life pursued would unravel.
As quick as personal artifacts,
Could be removed from walls.
Who knew that dreams would come to this end...
For any of them to witness,
Uhaul trucks being loaded to the brim.
With hopes packed and driven away from it all!
Who then amongst them knew?
Or...
Envisioned this kind of fall?

Suitcases Don't Have Wings
Small bags big bags
Black bags white bags
Suitcases hey hey hey
For work and for play
Crammed full of things
Suitcases dont have wings
White bags black bags
Complete with one-way tags
Dragging us down
Ever closer to the ground
All the time they sing
Suitcases dont have wings
Big bags small bags
That behind us we drag
Past present and future
We cram so much in n' gotcha
We've been forgetting
suitcases dont have wings
All bags every bag
That we painfully drag
Drop them at jesus feet
Cause all ur needs he'll meet
Suitcases hey hey hey
They get in the way
Drop them if you want in
Suitcases dont have wings

In my early professionals years I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?

Services defined.
Helps for wages aren’t services.
Helps for a favour or fair woman
Cannot be held as services.
Yet such services get merit
If performed as an alternative
To a lucrative jobs at hand.

You've Been Booted So Scoot
Mismatchd mates fight.
In arguments..
Over who did what wrong.
Inspite of who is right.
And which one makes more sense...
To convince the one incensed!
Both are stubborn infidels,
Yelling to end a relationship...
That has been sitting precariously,
On a dubious fence.
While anyone listening in on this,
Wishes they both shut up.
And seal their lips.
Instead of making loud noises.
And breaking up stuff in fits.
Anyone listening to this nonsense sits down.
Or creeps to the wall without making a sound.
To hear very carefully...
With hopes the floor doesn't creek.
As they tip toe around...
To get their ears close as possible,
To what is near...
And going down!
'I saw you cheating on me,
With that home wrecker living across the street.
If you believe that sleaze is better...
You can get up from here and leave.'
~You aint my momma or my poppa.
Stop trying to control everything I do.
I'm not the one pleasured in midnight specials.
The dogs and cats know that rat is you! ~
*ooo...ssshhh.
This is juicy.*
~You don't have the authority,
To tell me what I can't do.
I will do what I please!
Your booty aint that good to screw! ~
*Lawd!
Now YOU know...
When the booty aint right,
That starts a fight.
ooo...this is juicy*
~If anyone here is going to get up and leave...
You're the one that's going to do it.
And if you don't,
I'll call the police.
And when they arrive...
I'll lie to say you've been hitting on me.~
*Lie-uh! *
~Pack your bags!
I've had it.
Pack your bags!
I've had it.
Pack your bags!
I've had it.
You've been booted,
So scoot.
Pack.
Your.
Bags...
I've had it.
Pack your bags!
I've had it.
Pack your bags!
I've had it.
You've been booted,
So scoot.
There is nothing to revisit.
And there is nothing to renew.
So pack.
Your.
Bags...
I've had it.
Pack your bags!
I've had it.
Pack your bags!
I've had it.
You've been booted,
So scoot.
There is nothing to revisit.
And there is nothing to renew.
You and and I are finished...
And that door you're going through!
So pack.
Your.
Bags...
I've had it.
Pack your bags!
I've had it.
Pack your bags!
I've had it.
You've been booted,
So scoot!
You don't have to bother,
To put on your shoes.
Just pack your bags.
I've had it.
Get up and get out.
You've been booted,
So scoot! ~
*Don't you dare!
I wont get this excitement anywhere.*
**Horace...
Will you come from over there,
And sit down!
You are worse than you say,
My nosy friends are! **
*Sssshhh...*

Is It Too Late?
when we met
I'd never have thought
he'd steal my heart
no matter how we fought
I came to realise
all the tears and pain
were from the love
we started to gain
all these feelings
overwhelming inside
too much to bear
fighting our pride
as time passed
more emotions grew
inexplicable and misunderstood
not even we knew
becoming too much
i couldn't deal
packed my bags
not wanting to feel
years passed by
and now you're back
overcome with emotion
i've lost my knack
what to say
what to do
i realise i still love you
is it to late to start anew?
