That's why we're doing this, to defend our traditions a little. I don't have anything against it (Halloween), but it's not our tradition.

An Ode to Halloween

I am new to writing poems and I hope I can learn from all of you.
By the way, I learned how to write this kind of poem because of
An Ode to Christmas. Thank you very much!
An Ode to Halloween
When you see a child
In a costume scary and wild
You know it is Halloween.

When kids go trick-or-treats
And get lots and lots of sweets
You know it is Halloween.

When the trees give up their yellow leaves
And the dead give back their R.I.P.s
You know it is Halloween.

An Ode to scrumptious snacks
An Ode to skeletons that clack

An Ode to Dracula
An Ode to tarantulas
An Ode to Halloween

An Ode to the year’s best time
An Ode to clocks that chime
An Ode to Halloween

My Halloween Spirit (The Ghost That Carries The Jack-O-Lantern)

From my childhood and now to adulthood
I always knew when to expect you
I always knew when you'd come around
Because you're a part of my lifetime

You're my halloween spirit
Even though you're dressed perfectly as a ghost
While carrying a jack-o-lantern in your hands

Even though I've gotten older
You still inspire me to celebrate Halloween
As well as keeping on instilling a love for me of Halloween
The years keep on flying by
But every year since my childhood
You still know me
You still remember me
You still inspire me to celebrate Halloween
As well as still encouraging me, to have the love that I have for Halloween
Even after all these years

Why Those Battles Between Them Persist Without End

I am not one to analyze or bring to judgement,
The misdeeds done by those now dead.
Or correct with facts those deceits done,
To shed bright light upon that which has been said.
There is nothing in it for me,
To declare a victory.

However,
I am one to speak from my own experiences...
About those implications that were fed to devastate.
And reason and causes of those effects,
That have left divisions needing mending...
From an implementing by those dead,
To have those they disliked...
Tossing without sleep in their beds at night.

A healing from wrongs to make them right,
Has to take place to stop needless fights.
And what is there to gain to maintain conflicts?
By the ones living unable to comprehend...
Why those battles between them persist without end.

I am not one to analyze or bring to judgement,
The misdeeds done by those now dead.
Or correct with facts those deceits done,
To shed bright light upon that which has been said.
There is nothing in it for me,
To declare a victory.

'Why are you fighting?
And what purpose does it serve? '

~Because it's...
Because it is a,
Well...
Because! ~

And there is absolutely nothing in it for you,
To continue blindly doing those things you do...
Because of tradition?

What is your definition of that tradition?
And those living to defend it?
Why can't you respond for a meaning of it to mention.
Or know where to begin.
Since many traditions held today...
Have proven to make little if any sense!

To declare what is your tradition?
To maintain one's right to remain ignorant?

'Lower your weapons.
I'm just asking you a question.'

the Fishing Tradition

--THE FISHING TRADITION--

Tiny Tots with long cane poles
Granpaw's knowledge he extols
Putting worms on crooked hooks
Whipping line in rippling brooks.

There each weekend they would stand
All expertise, small hands command,
For there in awe they do observe
No less then Grampaw does deserve.

Handing down traditions fare
To little tykes just standing there
And now Adults traditions stand
When Little Tykes turn into Man.

But an innovation, to grow organically from within, has to be based on an intact tradition, so our idea is to bring together musicians who represent all these traditions, in workshops, festivals, and concerts, to see how we can connect with each other in music.

Halloween Day

My life, just got grim
My life, on account of him
You had a chance
You could have made it again
Are you really gonna marry her on
Halloween day
Halloween day
Your wife is torn apart
Beware of her haunted heart
I thought you had a chance
I thought youd make it again
I never really thought youd marry her on
Halloween day
Halloween day
And somethings spooky in the pit of my heart
And somethings stirring in the trunk of my car
My name(? ) is itching on the roof of my houses(? )
Dont go out
Dont go out
Dont go out after
Go out after dark
After dark
After dark
After dark on
Halloween day
Halloween day
My life, just got grim
My life, on account of him
On account of him
On account of him
On account of him

Halloween On The Barbary Coast

Well, the retards laughed
When the evening came
The librium makes them
All the same
And boy, you still got
Shit for brains
Its halloween on the coast again
Well the clowns roll in
And the line never ends
We get the last part
We get the bends
And the bends always last
Till the blast
And they sucked us down in the hole again
And its halloween on the barbary coast
Well, the mothers smiled
When the morning came
Under the christmas tree
They looked all the same
And boy, you still got
Shit for brain
And its halloween all over again

Whether They Are Participants Or Not

In support of some traditions,
That should remain unchanged.
To smear and diminish them,
Should leave those responsible...
Feeling both ashamed and blamed.
There is no documenting of discipline,
When this occurs.
Depending on who is involved.
And whose peace has been stirred!

'Some' traditions should be kept valued,
Like treasures to admire and respect.
Although there are some traditions,
That are questionable!
And they are the ones that initiate public unrest.
With the creation of havoc.
And the calling of police to make arrests.

These traditions are nothing more,
Than some folks approving...
Getting their frustrations off of their chests.
And the taxpayers are issued the bill.
Whether they are participants or not.

It's the old, 'I'll do as I please.
And set my own agenda.'
From a certain group of folks,
Believing their destruction...
Are acts of good natured fun when done!

On Halloween

On Halloween the sky was scarred
With full moon stuck, a piercing shard,
Within a hole, the eye of night,
Above the smell of death and fright,
Along a bone laced boulevard.

The corpses, dragged from crypts unbarred,
The flames, they gazed, with pale regard,
At roasting rot, a blood soaked sight...
On Halloween.

The bones, they blanched within the yard,
Again to have their evening marred,
By ghouls and fiends who rip and bite
With claws and fangs which drip delight
While gorging flesh, so slightly charred...
On Halloween.

Signs Of Heaven

A sign of peace and love,
Do not be deceived by the signs of heaven!
And by using them to set your feasts;
For man's own customs and traditions are always against the ways of the Creator!
But many are those who still follow after these traditions on this earth.
