The constitution exists to protect minorities like us from majority votes. We need the constitution to stand up for us. We need politicians and like-minded, fair-minded people to stand up and insist that the constitution protect us the way it's designed to do.

The provision of the Constitution giving the war-making power to Congress was dictated, as I understand it, by the following reasons. Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object. This, our Convention understood to be the most oppressive of all Kingly oppressions; and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us.

Shield Of Abraham
(kinky friedman)
Jacob climbed the ladder, climbed it to the sky,
Said, people, whats the matter ?
Heaven aint so high,
People, heaven aint so high,
When you got the shield,
You got the shield,
You got the shield,
You got the shield of abraham.
Little children.
You got the shield,
You got the shield,
You got the shield of abraham.
The years were lights they wandered in the desert 40 years
And ol moses told the children
brush away them tears,
Hey, kids, this aint no time for tears.
Children
You got the shield,
You got the shield,
You got the shield of abraham.
Little children.
You got the shield,
You got the shield,
You got the shield of abraham.
David, he fought goliath with nothing but a tiny stone.
David, little david, God knows youre not alone,
God knows youre not alone.
David, you got the shield,
Youve got the shield,
You got the shield of abraham.
Little david.
You got the shield,
You got the shield,
You got the shield of abraham.
Rock and roll redeemer, oh people, hear my song,
And let the music keep us loving, let the spirit keep us strong,
Let your sweet love keep us strong.
cause weve got the shield,
Weve got the shield,
Weve got the shield of abraham.
Little children.
Weve got the shield,
Weve got the shield,
Weve got the shield of abraham.
Weve got the shield,
Weve got the shield,
Weve got the shield of abraham.
Little children.
Weve got the shield,
Weve got the shield,
Weve got the shield ...

Olympian Disgrace
Even for a poet
It is difficult to evoke
The disgrace that are these 'Olympics'
The disgust I feel, that in some way
You are certainly feeling too
Because you are human
And literate, I assume
You know as well as anyone
How Tibet is occupied, these 55 years
Minorities suppressed, births controlled
Beliefs circumscribed, Inquisition-style
All those dissidents on trial
And the students in the square
(Has the Party apologised?)
Complicity in Darfur
Labour camps, all set aside
While athletes are being glorified
I'm not evoking Berlin,36
Nor the Soviet Moscow games
Nor the vicious oppression of minorities
In London Town (we'll come to that, no doubt)
I'm dealing with the here and now
Sports and games of the vainglorious
Corporate profits quick and furious
And the nausea in the air
As the smug and sly regime
Expectorates its justifications
And fake-righteous indignations
Into our faces, time after time.
Ashamed of the weakness of my voice
I will exercise my little choice
I won't be watching a single second
Jump or muscle-twitch or race
And to all the companies
Raking in dollars from backs bowed down
I know who you are:
You will not get my dime.

Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities (and the smallest minority on earth is the individual).
We are under a Constitution, but the Constitution is what the judges say it is, and the judiciary is the safeguard of our property and our liberty and our property under the Constitution.

Allow the President to invade a neighboring nation, whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion, and you allow him to do so, whenever he may choose to say he deems it necessary for such purpose, and you allow him to make war at pleasure. Study to see if you can fix any limit to his power in this respect, after having given him so much as you propose. If, to-day, he should choose to say he thinks it necessary to invade Canada, to prevent the British from invading us, how could you stop him? You may say to him, "I see no probability of the British invading us" but he will say to you, "Be silent; I see it, if
you don't." The provision of the Constitution giving the war making power to Congress was dictated, as I understand it, by the following reasons. Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object. Born on the 4th of July.
Liberty is their destination.
Born on
The fourth of July 1776.
Liberty is taken
For the pursuit of happiness's, freedom
And declared, constitution.
Those who have chosen liberty
Have freedom, freedom to choose
Never oppression

I am a Conservative to preserve all that is good in our constitution, a Radical to remove all that is bad. I seek to preserve property and to respect order, and I equally decry the appeal to the passions of the many or the prejudices of the few.

From Which Perspective
Folks believing they are normal,
And the center of the universe...
Enjoy slotting people into categories.
I'm overdue to try that too!
Let's see from which perspective,
Shall I choose.
Let's see...
These are the same people,
Now bleeding economically.
They have been conditioned,
To 'assume' they are 'better than' most.
And depicting 'everyone' non-white...minorities!
I overheard someone from Liberia, Africa...
Tell how some 'Americans' visited his country.
And labelled them 'minorities'.
Yes!
And paraded around like royalty.
They are the ones who dictate image and policy.
They are the ones who feed decadence and lowlife.
They are the ones who begin conflict...
Just to get everyone to fight,
For 'their' interests.

I don't think the Constitution is studied almost anywhere, including law schools. In law schools, what they study is what the court said about the Constitution. They study the opinions. They don't study the Constitution itself.
