Contention is inseparable from creating knowledge. It is not contention we should try to avoid, but discourses that attempt to suppress contention.

The fruits on the table
I love the papayas
Spread on the table
Reddish orange papayas
Plump and Smooth to my
Hands
And some purple grapes
Sweet pulp
Luscious to my
Lips
Some rambutans
Hairy fruits in red
Tickling to my
Fingers
Pungent durian
Tasting like
Heaven to
My mind
They are all spread on
The table
And I would caress smooth
Reddish papayas with
My bare hands
Put a grape in my mouth
And my tongue
Does the savoring of
Juicy rambutans
My lips close in
To a juicy roundness
As I breathe on some
Red hairs
Of this magical luscious fruit
The durian is opened
And the taste of heaven
Comes to my mind
With eyes closed as
Though I own all the passions
Of this world
When we were young and
Crazy about ourselves
I laid her on the table
And spread herself there
She was all those kinds of
Fruits to me and I was the
Hands, the mouth, the lips,
The tongue
The stomach that swallowed her all
Every bit that was juicy
Every freshness every plumpness
She was all fruits to me
She was all nature giving in, all over
To the passions of this fruit lover.

Spread Your Love
Maurice white, beloyd taylor & azar lawrence
As we speak about love today
Many men will let it drift away
Until inner feelings recognize
That inner joy will harmonize
There is one possibility
That we share universally
It dont take much ability
To let it shine naturally
Spread your love around and around the land
Spread your love to every grain of sand
Spread your love, lets spread our love together
Spread your love, I can feel it getting better
Spread your love, lets bring our hearts
Together
Spread your love, spread your love around
As you live one day at a time
Independence plays on your mind
To bring you experience
Human love is damn serious
Spread your love, lets spread our love together
Spread your love, I can feel it getting better
Spread your love, lets bring our hearts
Together
Spread your love, spread your love around
Someday the world will smile again
Someday all brothers will be friends
We will then truly understand
Inner light and universal plan
Until that time comes around
Ill be your friend through ups and downs
Spread your love around
Spread your love around
Spread your love around
Spread your love around

For, after all, put it as we may to ourselves, we are all of us from birth to death guests at a table which we did not spread.

Oops! I Did It Again Mom! (laughter)
It was above and beyond the call of duty
When she had to clean his booty.
He had crap from the pampers down
And not a clean spot to be found.
Then he took his hand and spread it all around
From the table to the ground.
He had spread it every where
And had done it with such care.
To him this was just a game
As he tried to write his name.
His mother was as angry as can be
But she laughed hysterically.
And as her laughter finally settled down
He looked at her with a frown.
He did not realize all that he had done
He was just having fun.
As she carried him to the shower
He decided to have his final hour.
Oops! I did it again mom!

Dubrovnik 1972.
Dubrovnik seemed
a second home,
and you, in a street
cafe, sat drinking coffee,
with that book on
Schopenhauer open
on the table, a cigarette
smoking in an ashtray
unattended, thinking
of the girl in the hotel
restaurant the night
before, the waitress
who smiled at you as
she served and went
by your table, and your
brother said, I don't
fancy yours much,
indicating with a nod
of head, another
waitress over by a
nearby table, plump
and spotted, wearing
a scowl instead of a
smile, and all the while,
he eyeing, as young
men do the beauty
that had caught your
eye going by, but all is
fair in love, so men
have said, so picking
up the book on
Schopenhauer, and
further reading,
holding the cigarette
between the fingers
of the hand not
turning pages, you
inhaled with deep
concentration the
smoke and words
spread across the
page, written by a
philosopher of a
foreign tongue
and different age.

They are still existing.
Ideals realized,
They cease to be ideals.
Hopes attained,
They cease to be hopes.
Beliefs proven,
They cease to be beliefs.
Faiths established,
They cease to be faiths.
Mind, faith in god
And belief in His deeds
Are still existing.

The Last Word
Creep into thy narrow bed,
Creep, and let no more be said!
Vain thy onset! all stands fast.
Thou thyself must break at last.
Let the long contention cease!
Geese are swans, and swans are geese.
Let them have it how they will!
Thou art tired: best be still.
They out-talked thee, hissed thee, tore thee?
Better men fared thus before thee;
Fired their ringing shot and passed,
Hotly charged - and sank at last.
Charge once more, then, and be dumb!
Let the victors, when they come,
When the forts of folly fall,
Find thy body by the wall!

To Anne
Oh, Anne, your offences to me have been grievous:
I thought from my wrath no atonement could save you:
But woman is made to command and deceive us —
I look 'd in your face, and I almost forgave you.
I vow'd I could ne'er for a moment respect you,
Yet thought that a day's separation was long;
When we met, I determined again to suspect you
Your smile soon convinced me suspicion was wrong.
I swore, in a transport of young indignation,
With fervent contempt evermore to disdain you:
I saw you - my anger became admiration;
And now, all my wish, all my hope's to regain you.
With beauty like yours, oh, how vain the contention!
Thus lowly I sue for forgiveness before you;
At once to conclude such a fruitless dissension,
Be false, my sweet Anne, when I cease to adore you!

A Table For Two!
Flash of dream overcome me
as I took slumber one night
I saw a romantic setting
lies a set of table for two
A bouquet of red roses
decorate at the center
where a bottle of red wine
completes the table for two
I saw you entered the haven
dressed in rainbow colored suit
your face so pretty with a smile
as we kissed at the table for two
Mesmerized by your countenance
I was filled with romantic stance
as we danced to the tune of love
such so divine at the table for two
Awaken at height of joy
I am filled with inspiration
as today it becomes a reality
a table for two on Valentines day

Cease Fire
won't look back though
I was torn to pieces nothing will destroy my determination
I won't be surpressed my voice will now be heard
Cease fire - What did I say I didn't mean to blow the world away
Cease fire - What do you know my mouth is like the barrel of a gun
Cease fire - What did I say

Mass
f I trust You, everything else will become, for me, strength, health, and support. Everything will bring me to heaven. If I do not trust You, everything will be my destruction.
Thomas Merton Thoughts in Solitude
When it begins
music plays and we sing
songs of gathering, greeting.
This, then, is the family complete,
assembled around the table
ready for the thanksgiving feast.
Why can't we just remain
innocent,
present?
We tell the stories of our youth,
laugh at self-folly, glad
to tell the truth,
but soon we feel the pain
of separation, of nails
driven deep
beneath our tender skin:
his heart breaks; her beloved body
cancer invades until we can only stare
at vacant crossings,
bereft,
alone,
when you speak
and, believing beyond reason,
we feel you, deep down,
feel the bread subsumed
in our very guts, spread
unreasonable warmth
and comfort
and joy!
We cannot understand such power
but without it
our lives
would cease.

Primary And Secondary
bread and butter thing
water and white rice on the table
eggs and vegetables
spread on the covered table
these are the primaries of life
poetry is at nighttime
reading aloud
composing some more
analyzing other poets' works
telling to yourself
this smacks the senses
this strikes the core of my being
this will not make me sleep again
invigorating
worth the lost salt of myself
not looking back
moving on
sailing on the boat in the middle
of such storm
seeking peace
sleeping alone and dreaming
these are the secondaries of existence
tomorrow can be
incompetent
today is the most evident
the past is duly taken
notice
the void comes
and then to its wings i take my daily ride.

An Ode for David
Inspiration
From a lopsided table?
Words written down
Told as a fable
Strange request you have
My dear friend
Inspiration I will find
This I do intend
Wooden Table
Possess my tongue
Wintered table
Cry from my lungs
Pen striking paper
You shall be my muse
May the bleeding ink
Cry of your blues
Splintered skin
In a corner rest forgotten
Winding legs
You stand wild as cotton
Pen stroke slide
Across your lofty floor
Three legs you stand
When you should have four
Awkward table
You have no friend
Ancient table
You've reached your bitterend
Should my pen learn sea legs
I'd love you once more
But, on three legs you stand
When you should have four

My Mom Sets the Table
Night after night my mom sets the table
full of joy she passes her hand over the green fleat
like dishes she lays her chips down
they her finest china carefully stacked
her drink is the insurance bet
night after night 21 meals are servered
6 people share the meal with her
we her family eat alone
yet night after night my mom sets the table
the table of broken dreams and poisoned meals
night after night she countinues to eat
untill is consumed
Night after night my mom sets the table
night after night we her family shallow the bitter meal she makes
Night after night my mom sets the table

No Peace
I once saw a honeybee flying away at ease
staring at the human race living with no peace
Oh people! are we deaf dumb blind or naiive
look with a glimmering glance at bees
living in societies a life full of peace
workers rise at dawn collecting honey from trees
drones stand against, protecting female queens
Just stare just gaze and learn please
cease fire, cease fire, cease fire, cease
Not wishing to be a bee just wishing to live at peace
