Now, I cannot approve anything the council has rejected, but I can reject anything the council has approved.

The progress in Iraq is still fragile. And it could still be reversed. Iraq still faces innumerable challenges, and they will be evident during what will likely be a difficult process as the newly elected Council of Representatives selects the next prime minister, president, and speaker of the council.

Any Human Rights Council reform that allows countries that sponsor terrorism to remain as members, such as Cuba, is not real reform. And in the past, countries such as Libya, Iran and Syria have participated on this council.

Human Rights Violations
Human rights violations continue to plague the UN,
But their Human Rights Council is not bothered now, nor was it then,
As they publish serious distortion of actual events,
Their gang rapes goings on over there were people live in tents.
Despite some of their friends being involved in genocide - no report,
Even after being indicted by the International Criminal Court,
The whole UN and their Human Rights Council seem corrupt,
Canada’s forbidden entry to their Council was fierce and abrupt.
Their bent press releases are unadulterated propaganda,
We should pull out of their glass building, their wars, and their agenda,
These suggestions are unacceptable at the UN, I know,
But why should our democracy receive blow after blow?

The Zoo's Closure
The skirmishing is ended, Council Members
Have played their final, unconvincing act.
Each teller calls the tally, fair, exact.
Zoo fellows have – like Phoenix from its embers –
Opened up their spleen vents, each remembers –
Or thinks he does – how things stood once, reach
Schoolchildishly against the Council sacked.
Creative thinking’s absent. Each dismembers,
Looking backwards, far from chill Decembers,
Our ‘salad days’ [cheap fiction]! For the fact
Still stands that vital funding still is lacked.
Unluckily retrenchment waits. September’s
Requested General Meeting whets the sickle,
Entrapped is Council in its pretty pickle.

Every man who has a calling to minister to the inhabitants of the world was ordained to that very purpose in the Grand Council of heaven before this world was. I suppose I was ordained to this very office in that Grand Council.

If we pulled out of the UN; who would care and who would know?
Most of the time, it appears to be no more than a game show,
Where despot dictators can put on an international display,
And pretend that they are the good guys that we should never betray.
They refused to let us into on their Security Council crowd,
Did this decision make them feel better and much more proud?
I realize all politicians want a UN appointment there,
Another reason to get away from the whole UN affair.
After being banned from their Security Council; how low can we go?
Should we tell them we're leaving or should we just walk away slow?
See if they even care or even know that we have gone,
The many despot dictators continuing with their UN con.

Companions
The old maid and her tabby cat
Live together happily
in their small ground floor council flat
Where from the window they can see.
Pedestrians who hurry by intent
upon their own affairs
But others walk more soberly
as though weighed down by worldly cares.
They are content to stay at home
and watch the busy world go by
The cat is far too old to roam
her mistress ventures out to buy.
Although she goes reluctantly
the food they need from local stores.
The grocers and the bakery.
The old cat stays at home of course
but welcomes her ecstatically.
The moment that she steps inside
their haven of security.
Safe from the dangers of outside.
They keep each other company
the old maid and her tabby cat.
They are contents as they can be
in their small ground floor council flat.

Forgotten People
In Council Flats live the forgotten people
At the slum end the poorer side of town
They live on welfare like their dads before them
And from where they live a long hike to renown.
They always wear their football scarves and beanies
And take them with them everywhere they go
They worship their football teams and football heroes
The only sort of culture that they know.
Their addresses they find not to their advantage
For employees employers look elsewhere
They tend to think that those living in the slum parts
Unfit for work and softened from welfare.
With the Council Flats the cops are well acquainted
They know it as a breeding ground for crime
There are not many there without crime record
Who have not been in jail and served out time.
Those born there are born to disadvantage
The expectations of them is to fail
How can you expect to end up a winner
If all your role models have been to jail? .
How can you expect to soar like an eagle
If you don't have the powerful wings to fly
If you don't have role models to inspire you
To have success in life you may not try? .
The politicians only call to see them
To beg them for their votes on voting day
But when they are elected to high office
From council flats they tend to keep away.
By circumstance of birth forgotten people
Condemned to life of crime and poverty
Still they are less impure in ways than many
Who have climbed to highest branch of success tree.

A seat in the council is honour without profit.
The elders of the council do not jump over a brook.
When the lords come out of the council-house, they are wiser than when they went in.
