Blind Love
Words and music by tom waits
Now youre gone
And its hotels and whiskey and sad luck days
And I dont care if they miss me
I never remember their names
They say if you get far enough away
Youll be on your way back home
Well Im at the station
And I cant get on the train
Must be blind love
The only kind of love is stone blind love
The only kind of love is stone blind love
The only kind of love is stone blind love
Oh blind love
Blind love
Stone blind love
Stone blind love
Well the streets turning blue
The dogs are barking and the night has come
And its tears that are falling
From these brown eyes now
And I wonder where you are
And I whisper your name
(I whisper your name)
And the only way to find you
Is if I close my eyes
And find you with my blind love
The only kind of love is stone blind love
The only kind of love is stone blind love
The only kind of love is stone blind love
Oh blind love
Blind love
Stone blind love
Stone blind love
Oh its blind love
The only kind of love is stone blind love
The only kind of love is stone blind love
The only kind of love is stone blind love
Oh blind love
Blind love
Stone blind love

Faults
They came to tell your faults to me,
They named them over one by one;
I laughed aloud when they were done,
I knew them all so well before, --
Oh, they were blind, too blind to see
Your faults had made me love you more.

Faults And All
(Carl Perkins)
Not so very long from now
She'll be known all over town
Cause she waits by her phone from in the car
She says the limit is the sky
And tonight she's flyin' high
But I'll hang around and take her faults and all
O' Yes she once was mine
Now she's changed and she's that kind
With a crowd she has her self a ball
But she's not that kind of girl
She's just hidin' from the world
But I'll hang around and take her faults and all
She's about as low as a girl can go
She ain't got far to fall
But when she hits the ground
I'm gonna be around
'Cause I want her most of all
And when all's been said and done
I'm gonna be the one
Who'll hang around and take her faults and all
Yeah I'll hang around and take her faults and all

On Being Oneself
If virtue
can't be mine alone
at least my faults
can be my own.

Do not think of your faults, still less of other's faults; look for what is good and strong, and try to imitate it. Your faults will drop off, like dead leaves, when their time comes.

There are some faults so nearly allied to excellence that we can scarce weed out the vice without eradicating the virtue.

Ode
I. VENGEANCE will sit above our faults ; but till
She there do sit,
We see her not, nor them. Thus blind, yet still
We lead her way ; and thus, whilst we do ill,
We suffer it.
2. Unhappy he whom youth makes not beware
Of doing ill.
Enough we labour under age, and care ;
In number, th' errors of the last place are
The greatest still.
3. Yet we, that should the ill we now begin
As soon repent,
Strange thing ! perceive not ; our faults are not seen,
But past us ; neither felt, but only in
The punishment.
4. But we know ourselves least ; mere outward shows
Our minds so store,
That our souls no more than our eyes disclose
But form and colour. Only he who knows
Himself, knows more.

Take care that thou be not made a fool by flatterers, for even the wisest men are abused by these. Know, therefore, that flatterers are the worst kind of traitors; for they will strengthen thy imperfections, encourage thee in all evils, correct thee in nothing; but so shadow and paint all thy vices and follies, as thou shalt never, by their will, discern evil from good, or vice from virtue. And, because all men are apt to flatter themselves, to entertain the additions of other men's praises is most perilous. Do not therefore praise thyself, except thou wilt be counted a vain-glorious fool; neither take delight in the praises of other men, except thou deserve it, and receive it from such as are worthy and honest, and will withal warn thee of thy faults; for flatterers have never any virtue — they are ever base, creeping, cowardly persons. … But it is hard to know them from friends, they are so obsequious and full of protestations; for as a wolf resembles a dog, so doth a flatterer a friend.

How to know Love from Deceit
Love to faults is always blind
Always is to joy inclind
Lawless wingd & unconfind
And breaks all chains from every mind
Deceit to secresy confind
Lawful cautious & refind
To every thing but interest blind
And forges fetters for the mind

Ch 05 On Love And Youth Story 05
A schoolboy was so perfectly beautiful and sweet-voiced that the teacher, in accordance with human nature, conceived such an affection towards him that’ he often recited the following verses:
I am not so little occupied with thee, O heavenly face,
That remembrance of myself occurs to my mind.
From thy sight I am unable to withdraw my eyes
Although when I am opposite I may see that an arrow comes.
Once the boy said to him: ‘As thou strivest to direct my studies, direct also my behaviour. If thou perceivest anything reprovable in my conduct, although it may seem approvable to me, inform me thereof that I may endeavour to change it.’ He replied: ‘O boy, make that request to someone else because the eyes with which I look upon thee behold nothing but virtues.’
The ill-wishing eye, be it torn out
Sees only defects in his virtue.
But if thou possessest one virtue and seventy faults
A friend sees nothing except that virtue.
Are You Ready?
This place inside my mind, a place I like to hide,
You dont know the chances, what if I should die?
A place inside my brain, another kind of pain,
You dont know the chances, Im so blind, blind, blind.
Another place Ill find, to escape the pain inside,
You dont know the chances, what if I should die?
A place inside my brain, another kind of pain,
You dont know the chances, Im so blind, blind, blind.
Deeper and deeper and deeper as I journey to
Living a life that seems to be a lost reality
That I could never find a way to reach my inner self
Esteem is low, how deep can I go,
In the ground that I lay, if I dont find a way to
Sift through the gray that clouds my mind.
This time I look to see whats between the lines!
I can see, I can see Im going blind. (x12)
Im blind. (x4)

And what does reward virtue? You think the communist commissar rewards virtue? You think a Hitler rewards virtue? You think, excuse me, if you'll pardon me, American presidents reward virtue? Do they choose their appointees on the basis of the virtue of the people appointed or on the basis of their political clout?

The effect of the virtue
A man of virtue practises virtue
Against the myriads of odds, so true,
And wove around him a crust of virtue
But his core remained as same underneath.
His libido is much in compression,
Capable of giving more explosions.
A man of virtue is a potential danger
From whom might spurt evils at any scale.

Your Majesty
Your majesty, if you will
I realize that I am not worthy
Of licking the slime from your shoes
But I would that I could
Your majesty, don't you see
You're worth nothing to me
Though the world may worship you
You're simply a chauvinistic pig
Your majesty, we can tell
That you hold yourself in high opinion
You find no self faults
And you are self-centered
Your majesty, we realize
That you are blind to your own faults
And you are blind to the trials of others
You believe yourself to be the center of the Universe
Your majesty, anyone is better
Than you, in your self-possessed vanity
And the world realizes that I
Am more beautiful than you
Your majesty, none would ever
Get in line to be your queen
Because you are ruthless, selfish, vain
And none could be uglier than you
Your majesty, we all hope
That you realize the err of your ways soon
Because if you don't, we will revolt against you
And I shall be placed upon the throne over you
Your majesty, start to change
For the people around you change
And increasingly learn to hate you
So try harder to make others happy
Your majesty, instead
Of revelling in your own "beauty"
You should be striving to make the world more beautiful
Instead of making it an even uglier mess that we are left to clean up
Thank you, your majesty

Now We Find Too Much To See
The best condition I can condone,
Is to be done with 'us'.
And leave you alone.
No longer can I find understanding not there.
Or point out faults...
When my own are clearly there.
The best condition I can condone,
Is to be done with 'us'.
And leave you alone.
Neither one of us is perfect.
And I admit I know I'm not.
I'd rather quit than argue,
About who has been faithful.
Both of us have dipped and dabbed a lot.
No longer can I find understanding not there.
Or point out faults...
When my own are clearly there.
Remember when the love we had for each other,
Was blind?
Now we find too much to see.

Our Eyes
Have you seen
How quickly
Our eyes close
When they
See our own
Faults?
And how quickly
They pop out open
When they guzzle in
Others' faults?
Our eyes open
Wide and shut.
They are very
Choosy about
Our faults ;)
Being partial
Towards us,
But unsparing,
Towards others.

The Portent
Horace, BK. V. Ode 20.
Oh, late withdrawn from human-kind
And following dreams we never knew!
Varus, what dream has Fate assigned
To trouble you?
Such virtue as commends of law
Of Virtue to the vulgar horde
Suffices not. You needs must draw
A righteous sword;
And, flagrant in well-doing, smite
The priests of Bacchus at their fane,
Lest any worshipper invite
The God again.
Whence public strife and naked crime
And-deadlier than the cup you shun--
A people schooled to mock, in time,
All law--not one.
Cease, then, to fashion State-made sin,
Nor give thy children cause to doubt
That Virtue springs from Iron within--
Not lead without.
