A Child's Evening Prayer
Ere on my bed my limbs I lay,
God grant me grace my prayers to say:
O God! preserve my mother dear
In strength and health for many a year;
And, O! preserve my father too,
And may I pay him reverence due;
And may I my best thoughts employ
To be my parents' hope and joy;
And, O! preserve my brothers both
From evil doings and from sloth,
And may we always love each other,
Our friends, our father, and our mother,
And still, O Lord, to me impart
An innocent and grateful heart,
That after my last steep I may
Awake to thy eternal day! Amen.

Cousin....
you know my name, cousin.
you always call me by my name
always in the shallow part of the river
placid, i am, like a linen spread in bed
before sleep time,
we are bathing
and we tell stories about our ancestors
those brave warriors from the north
moving south, finding some fortune long denied them by fate
one day
you prefer to dive with me in the Deep
to find some pearls
the whirlpool sucked you in
and i tried to help, but you allowed it just the same to claim you
up there is the storm of sinking ships
down in where we are is the peaceful ocean floor
i touch your hand and then you breathe again
but it is too late then, you ask me who i am?
but i cannot speak anymore
for now i belong not to the earth but to the sea, the deepest sea
cousin, i am not your cousin.

Lord I Hope This Day Is Good
(dave hanner)
Lord, I hope this day is good
Im feelin empty and misunderstood
I should be thankful, lord, I know I should
But lord I hope this day is good
Lord, have you forgotten me?
I been prayin to you faithfully
I should be thankful lord you know I am
But lord I hope you understand
I dont need fortune and I dont need fame
Send down the thunder, lord, send down the rain
But when youre plannin just how it will be
Plan a good day for me
Lord, I hope this day is good
Im feelin empty and misunderstood
I should be thankful, lord, I know I should
But lord I hope this day is good
Youve been the king since the dawn of time
All that Im askin is a little less crime
It might be hard for the devil to do
But it would be easy for you
Lord, I hope this day is good
Im feelin empty and misunderstood
I should be thankful, lord, I know I should
But lord I hope this day is good

Peace, Be Still
Petrified in the boat they were panicking
as the waves of the sea came cascading in.
You awoke Lord and commanded the sea.
'Be still, ' You said with such authority.
'What manner of man is this' they cried
amazed as they saw the wind and waves subside.
The storm was quelled and the wind did cease
The Almighty obeyed, they were left in peace.
Mightier than the raging and tempestuous sea.
Mightier than the clashing thunderstorm is He.
The Almighty One is The Sovereign Lord
and wind and wave have to obey His word.
You were there Almighty God before life began
as the creator of heaven, earth and man.
The Alpha and Omega Whose work is done.
The Son of God and the Almighty One.
God's Grace Our Choice
The Grace of The Almighty God has appeared to all men on the earth,
His Grace helps us to turn from all godlessness through a New Birth.
But many have turned His Gracious gift, His wonderful Gift of Grace,
Into a godless amoral life filled with wicked sin and utter disgrace.
But, Eternal God above is not deceived and won't be mocked at all,
For Eve who gave no thought to Satan's deception lead Adam to fall.
Solomon's words, there is nothing new under the sun, seem to resound,
As people today are being told a Biblical God just can not be found.
Instead they are being told to seek the little god found only within,
This is again a fatal decision and points back to man's original sin.
This message is being spouted by those, who believe they are strong,
Their cry is you don't need to find God, He's been in you all along.
This is today's New Age message, that isn't really that new at all,
Again, Satan first preached this in The Garden, back at Adam's fall.
For many the foolishness of this new thinking may not be very clear,
As Wisdom only comes to those who seek The Lord with a holy fear.
This fear is actually reverence towards God, which today is ignored,
However without His Grace and Holiness, no man will see The Lord.
A lack of Godly reverence in your life is something you can't afford,
For all men since God's Grace appeared, will stand before The Lord.

Good Fortune
They say to celebrate
you should raise a glass or two,
but if you do not drink
that is something hard to do.
Instead, you can toast
by raising a cup of tea
and light several candles
for the more misfortunate
than you,
and then thank god
for bringing good fortune
to you.
Good fortune may not be money
to line your pockets well.
Good fortune might be the joy
of triumphing over adversity,
or it could be
getting over your fears.
Whatever good fortune
means to you.
You must celebrate
with happiness
and share your good fortune
with everyone
you will meet.

A Litany (Cavatina Sequence)
(after Sir Philip Sidney)
Once huge church bells did ring at our wedding,
but love is gone,
as a plague its infected, by your whims has spread;
another one
finds grace in your eyes, now knows your deep flesh,
while like some stone
what was ours is petrified into dust,
good almighty Lord God, deliver us.
What once was high and holy is now dead,
only pain remain
while you acted very unscrupulous,
could not explain
your own female infatuating fancy
and then to gain
you breached our holy, pure, solemn trust
good almighty Lord God, deliver us.
No dirge, lament or even a prayer
can change your mind,
even if I at times do in pain weep
you stay unkind,
rushes away, with your eyes set and does
your lover find;
from a women that acts to true love thus,
good almighty Lord God, deliver us.

Lord, I give you all my praise. (To the tune of down at the cross)
O Lord, My God, I give you all my praise
You have cared for me all my days
You have comfort and strengthen me
Lord, I give you all my praise.
Yes, God has been good to me.
God has been so good to me.
Yes, God has been good to me.
Lord, I give you all my praise.
O’ Lord, My God, to you I lift my hand
You will bless me right where I stand
You will guide me along the way
Lord, I give you all my praise.
Yes, God has been good to me.
God has been so good to me.
Yes God has been good to me.
Lord, I give you all my praise.
O Lord My God to you I sing my praise
I surrender and beg for your grace
Please O’ Lord, forgive all my sins.
Lord, I give you all my praise.
Yes, God has been good to me.
God has been so good to me.
Yes God has been good to me.
Lord, I give you all my praise.
O Lord, my God I need your help today
Please send some aid quickly my way
Problems are so bad I can hardly pray
Lord, I give you all my praise.
Yes, God has been good to me.
God has been so good to me.
Yes, God has been good to me.
Lord, I give you all my praise.
O Lord, My God, thanks for all you have done
You have empowered me to overcome
Now, I can claim my battle as won
Lord, I give you all my praise.
Yes God has been good to me.
God has been so good me.
Yes God has been good to me.
Lord, I give you all my praise.

I have a cousin named....
I have a cousin named tru,
Who is always more excited than you,
He jumps an dhe bounces,
in so many houses,
I have a cousin named tru,
Who might belong in a zoo,
He moos and he poos,
while on the news.
I have a cousin named tru,
Who will try o say boo,
when you come out the lou.
I have a cousin named tru,
Who probably won't say goo,
Because he's ay older than two,
Whose name is not sue.
I cousin named tru...
I love you tru!
Sonnet- I'm proud to be a Doctor
Thank Thee 0 Lord, for making me Doctor;
Thou show'd me life and how to preserve it;
Its greatness lies in its noble factor;
Make me to serve the sick in manner fit.
I heal the wounds of the afflicted ones;
Ameliorate the anguish in their hearts;
I shower on them love in many tonnes;
They render praise to God and me in carts.
In life, I need not take the begging-bowl;
Peace of mind and satisfaction, they give;
Bless me 0 lord, let me not do things foul;
A disease-free and perfect life, I live.
Good that I chanced to become a Doctor,
Guide me 0 Lord; with life, I shouldn't blunder.

A Nervous Governor-General
We read in the press that Lord Northcote is here
To take up Lord Tennyson's mission.
'Tis pleasant to find they have sent us a Peer,
And a man of exalted position.
It's his business to see that the Radical horde
From loyalty's path does not swerve us;
But his tastes, and the task, don't seem quite in accord
For they say that His Lordship is nervous.
Does he think that wild animals walk in the street,
Where the wary marsupial is hopping?
Does he think that the snake and the platypus meet
And "bail up" the folk who go shopping?
And the boomerangs fly round the scared passer-by
Who has come all this way to observe us.
While the blackfellow launches a spear at his eye?
-- No wonder His Lordship is nervous.
Does he think that with callers he'll be overtasked,
From a baronet down to a barber?
Does he dream of the number of times he'll be asked
"What he thinks of our Beautiful Harbour?"
Does he sadly reflect on the sorrows that ding
Round his task? (From such sorrows preserve us!)
He must hear John See speak and O'Sullivan sing,
-- It's enough to make any man nervous.
Does he think he'll be waked in the dead of night
From Melbourne to go willy-nilly,
To live in the Federal Capital site
At Tumut or Wagra-go-billy?
Well, the Melbournites may let the Capital go
(Here we wink with one eye, please observe us!)
But not in a hurry! By no means! Oh, no!
He has not the least need to be nervous!

Prayer Poem on World Aids Day,2011
Good Lord!
Do take away this scourge that’s upon us,
and free man from this disease dangerous;
Rescue, preserve our youth in prime of life,
and free us from this hopeless, dismal strife!
Good Lord!
Ignore the blunder and forgive the fault!
Man innately errs in the sexual vault;
Help victims live with dignity, pain less;
The virus grows on in ways most reckless!
Good Lord!
Their days seem to be numbered without doubt;
Let confidence and hope in their hearts, sprout;
Shower your mercy; help the families;
Remove the virus; let us live in peace!
Amen.

Psalm 25
To you oh Lord I lift up my soul
And of you I shall never be ashamed
And all the day long I shall wait on you
And all of my enemies shall be tamed
Forgive me oh Lord, in your mercy I plea
Its in your mercy I ask that you remeber me
Pardon my iniquity, cast my sins into the sea
And in your debt I shall forever be
Good and upright is my God
All your paths are mercy and truth
You are great and worthy to be praised
I have loved you from the days of my youth
Consider my enemies for they are many
And deliver me from their cruel hateful hand
Preserve me oh Lord in your righteousness
And forever on you I shall stand

The Occasion of the Law Suit. chapter I
I need not tell you of the great quarrels that have happened in our
neighbourhood since the death of the late Lord Strutt; how the
parson and a cunning attorney got him to settle his estate upon
his cousin Philip Baboon, to the great disappointment of his cousin
Esquire South. Some stick not to say that the parson and the
attorney forged a will; for which they were well paid by the family
of the Baboons. Let that be as it will, it is matter of fact that
the honour and estate have continued ever since in the person of
Philip Baboon.
Late King of Spain.
* Cardinal Portocarero.
You know that the Lord Strutts have for many years been possessed of
a very great landed estate, well conditioned, wooded, watered, with
coal, salt, tin, copper, iron, etc., all within themselves; that it
has been the misfortune of that family to be the property of their
stewards, tradesmen, and inferior servants, which has brought great
incumbrances upon them; at the same time, their not abating of their
expensive way of living has forced them to mortgage their best
manors. It is credibly reported that the butcher's and baker's bill
of a Lord Strutt that lived two hundred years ago are not yet paid.
When Philip Baboon came first to the possession of the Lord Strutt's
estate, his tradesmen, as is usual upon such occasions, waited upon
him to wish him joy and bespeak his custom. The two chief were John
Bull,* the clothier, and Nic. Frog, * the linendraper. They told
him that the Bulls and Frogs had served the Lord Strutts with
draperyware for many years; that they were honest and fair dealers;
that their bills had never been questioned; that the Lord Strutts
lived generously, and never used to dirty their fingers with pen,
ink, and counters; that his lordship might depend upon their honesty
that they would use him as kindly as they had done his predecessors.
The young lord seemed to take all in good part, and dismissed them
with a deal of seeming content, assuring them he did not intend to
change any of the honourable maxims of his predecessors.
The first letters of congratulation from King William and the
States of Holland upon King Philip's accession to the crown of
Spain.

Psalm 27
The Lord is my light and salvation
Of whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life
I stand because you are near
Set me high upon a Rock oh Lord
A place where you can hide me
In your pavillion and tabernacle I dwell
A place where I am truly free
Hear me oh Lord when I cry with my voice
For you are the Lord God Almighty
When I am abandoned and have lost all hope
I know that you will never forsake me

Today... 'God Almighty
Hallelujah! The Lord God Almighty reigns
He who creates the wind and forms the mountains.
Holy, holy, holy the living creatures cry
To the Glorious and Almighty God on high.
Great and marvellous are the deeds He performs
He who turns dawn to into the darkest storms.
The great God who was, and is, and is to come
the LORD Almighty is his name, The Holy One.

Country Scrumping
Your country cousin took you
Across a field to a vast orchard
Where low hung branches
Made the green apples within
Reach of your young boy’s hands.
Don’t eat too many of them
Or you’ll get gut ache, she said.
Your eyes had never seen so
Many apples, row after row
In long lines down the field and
Fields beyond. You picked an apple
And bit into it. They make cider
From these, she said, picking off
An apple too and biting with relish.
Your younger sister looked nervously
On wondering if she too should pick.
Go on, your cousin said, pick and eat.
Your sister reached up and pulled
And a few apples fell to the ground
With soft sounds of thump on the
Short grass. She picked up one and
Brushed it off on her dress. Have to
Run if the farmer comes, your cousin
Said, and don’t tell of this or we’ll be
For it. For what? Your sister asked.
Your cousin looked around and replied,
A good telling off or a good tanned ass.
You stood all three of you eating, beneath
The apple trees, in the short green grass.
