I like to have books around to give me ideas-to get the verbal part of my brain to start working.

Dont Give Up On Me
Dont give up on me,
Though I know at times its hard to see;
All my many weaknesses
Might blind you,
I must remind you,
Dont give up on me,
Even when I act so selfishly,
All my views are all I see.
Yes, I know theres still so much of me,
But God is working constantly,
To shape me,
Hell remake me.
Dont give up on me.
Im gonna make it.
I know its hard for you to see.
Dont give up on me,
I couldnt take it.
If a part of me should keep you from seeing
The part of me that youd start to believe in,
Im changin so please dont give up on me.
Dont give up on me,
Even when I fail so miserably.
Time and again I know
I stumble,
It makes me humble.
Dont give up on me.
But never let your love to be
Hanging on the things you see,
Counting all the times I fail to be
Everything you want from me;
Im trying.
Hear me crying.
Dont give up on me.
Im gonna make it.
I know its hard for you to see.
Dont give up on me,
I couldnt take it.
If a part of me should keep you from seeing
The part of me that youd start to believe in,
Im changin so please dont give up on me.
I know much more than you
How very weak I am.
But he believes in me,
And so I know you can.
When all my views are all I see,
Then I know theres still so much of me;
But God is working constantly
To shape me,
Hell remake me.
Dont give up on me.
Im gonna make it.
I know its hard for you to see.
Dont give up on me.
I couldnt take it.
If a part of me should keep you from seeing
The part of me that youd start to believe in,
Im changin so please dont give up on me.
Dont give up one me.
Im gonna make it.
I know its hard for you to see.
Dont give up on me.
I couldnt take it.
If a part of me should keep you from seeing
The part of me that youd start to believe in,
Im changin so please dont give up on me.

The Abuser
it does not matter if you're male or female
in the mind of a abuser
they will always prevail.
when you allow the abuse from the start
in you life, it becomes a part.
whether it's verbal or physical, it matters not
you let it start, and it won't stop.
the verbal can be more damaging than the physical
because it becomes daily.
like a sculptor chipping away at its mold
until it becomes the way that they want it to be.
and if you don't stop it
you will never be free.
they do it because of their own inadequacy.
which is something that their mind won't see.
how much abuse should you take
before it becomes much to late?
the verbal abuser will always put you to the ground
and expect you to not make a sound.
they will tell you that you was put here to serve.
and to make a move, you have no nerve.
that you must obey their every command
and that you are the scum of the land.
if you have no - or low self esteem
it is something which will be seen.
and when an abuser has you in their sight
no matter what you do, it won't be right.
STOP the abuse, before it's too late.
for this can not be your destined fate.
the verbal abuse will always start first
then from there, it will get worse.
YOU must walk away, so that they can see
a victim you will not be.
(abuse is like a broken tool, it could damage whatever is good)

Honest Thoughts (Continued)
if you give an honest,
hard working, uneducated man
access to books and ideas, a
deep desire to learn,
and time to honestly evaluate
his own life experiences...
and then you take away his rights,
his work, and his dream for his
family...
this man will stand up and turn
your world upside down.
never underestimate the power
of the common man and woman!

Might As Well
(wally bryson)
Might as well give in
Have to say its true
Cant believe its happened to me, but,
Ooh, Im glad its you
I guess you were the one from the start
And try as I may I cant say that well part
So I might as well give in
And say I love you
All the times before
All the love we make
I was so afraid of emotions
I could only take
You were there from the start
And try as I may I can say that well part
So I might as well give in
And say I love you
All of my other loves
Made me so sad
Dont want to find out
That lovin you, needin you,
Makes you feel bad
Might as well give in
Have to say its true
Cant believe its happened to me, but,
Ooh, Im glad its you
I guess you were the one from the start
And try as I may I cant say that well part
So I might as well give in
And say I love you
I love you
I love you

Books won't stay banned. They won't burn. Ideas won't go to jail. In the long run of history, the censor and the inquisitor have always lost. The only sure weapon against bad ideas is better ideas. The source of better ideas is wisdom. The surest path to wisdom is a liberal education.

Sonnet: Helmet-wearing Does Save Lives
A priceless brain resides within the skull,
From which the neural control reach each part!
–A living computer that takes each call,
And keeps all organs working fine, and heart.
A brain that’s smashed in accidents can’t work,
Nor can damaged a brain-box serve purpose;
Surrounding waters take brain off each jerk:
Protect each part in correct ways, God does.
When science has shown brain-injuries so rife,
Can be averted wearing helmets good,
Why not protect your God-given one life,
By putting proper cover like a hood?
Like how a shield protects one from a knife,
Yes, helmet-wearing saves your limbs and life!
‘Helmet-wearing does save lives! ’

Wheel
People have the right to fly
And will when it gets compromised
Their hearts say 'move along"
Their minds say 'gotcha heart'
'Let's move it along'
And airports see it all the time
Where someone's last goodbye
Blends in with someone's sigh
Cause someones coming home
In hand a single rose
And that's the way this wheel keeps working now
That's the way this wheel keeps working now
And I won't be the last
No I won't be the last
To love her
You can't build a house of leaves
And live like it's an evergreen
It's just a season thing
It's just this thing the seasons do
And that's the way this wheel keeps working now
That's the way this wheel keeps working now
And you won't be the first
No you won't be the first
To love me
You can find me
If you ever want again
I'll be around the bend
I'll be around the bend
I'll be around
And if you never stop when you wave goodbye
You just might find if you give it time you will wave hello again
You just might wave hello again
And that's the way this wheel keeps working now
That's the way this wheel keeps working now
You can't love too much one part of it
You can't love too much one part of it
I believe that my life's gonna see
The love I give returned to me

This is me
I'll give you my hand as a part of my heart.
Giving you that is just the start.
You can't have my body at least not yet.
I don't want to do something I'll later regret.
I won't give you all of me.
I'll only give you what you see.
You can't have my thoughts, soul, or dreams.
I won't give them away by any means.
I won't trust you right away.
I don't mean to hurt you it's just my way.
You shouldn't have every part of me.
Most of me stays hidden cause this is me.

A lot of times Mick will play me different things, or I'll listen to a cassette, and out of twenty ideas or whatever, I'll find two or three that are just blowing me away, and we'll start working on them right away.
One of the main things I do is focus on ideas and what stories we decide to tell, but probably the biggest part of my job I'd say is working on the storyboards.

Reunion
Time and planned coincidence
have played their part in our lives.
And so the genes that flow through us
becomes the part that thrives.
We take one day at a time and know
that fate will play its part.
We shut off the brain purposefully
and start to open up the heart.
The heart that beats becomes filled
with the thirst to know your kin.
And so 2 people so distant in space
find each other and reunion does begin.
We feel the need to reconnect
and so we travel to meet.
What we find is incredible,
a family to make life complete.
The warmth and peace that belongs to you
is offered in love and respect.
And you understand the wonders of life
and give thanks and accept
the gift that God gives to those
who never give up the quest
to find each other once again
and know that you've been blessed.

I think everybody's got different methods of working which suit the particular individual. Mine is to sort of play the part, and give 100%, to concentrate and focus on it while I'm actually working, but then leave it behind until the next day.
I enjoyed so much working with the guys from Wilco, and riffing off of them, and having someone come up to me with ideas, because normally in the studio it's me who has to come up with all the ideas.

I Know I Have A Copy Somewhere
Wherever you may choose to look
You're guaranteed to find a book.
Perhaps a murder mystery.
Anthologies of poetry
Reference books and picture books.
Books on witchcraft and black magic
Tomes on almost any topic.
Some by authors long since dead.
Books which try to look ahead.
Books of every shape and size.
As I have come to realise.
Enough to start a library
Though jumbled up haphazardly.

Marilyn, Merry and Mariam
Working at Barnes & Noble in City Place,
books, c.d.’s and gifts filled the space.
I was a bookseller and liked books a lot,
I helped customers find books, I gave it my best shot.
I worked with Jennine, who sold books like you never seen.
My managers were Marilyn, Merry and Mariam Volk,
I never complained to them or bulked.
I kept busy putting books away,
I loved to watch kids in the kid section play.
I worked with Luz Cruz, her name rhymes with Blue’s Clues.
She is a really great bookseller, she works there till this day,
she always greets you with a smile and has a kind thing to say.
Only Luz is the last employee left from my crew,
unless Kao is still there working very hard too.
Page who helped me do readings with stories of make believe,
she went to Fort Lauderdale,
while Jim in receiving went to Boynton Beach.
Kim is now married and has another child,
she helped me get my books in the store for awhile.
Now it was fun experience while I was there,
happy memories I can share.

Poet's Heart
A poem is like a wild rose
Your ideas bloom into something as it grows
Some your ideas flow clear and beautiful like a song
And sometimes those thoughts turn into sadness about things that go wrong
But the most important things to remember is where those ideas start.
And that is from a Poet's Heart
