We know no spectacle so ridiculous as the British public in one of its periodical fits of morality.

That's Ridiculous
Have I ever laid a hand on you
Did I ever make you see the truth
Don't you ever say I never cared
Don't you ever say I never cared
That's ridiculous
That's ridiculous
That's ridiculous
Have I ever made a fool of you
Did I ever make you look at me
Don't you ever say I was never there
Don't you ever say I was never there
That's ridiculous
That's ridiculous
That's ridiculous
Have I ever made you shout at me
Did I ever take advantage
Don't you ever badmouth me
Don't you ever badmouth me
That's ridiculous
That's ridiculous
That's ridiculous
You can't hold me
Don't try to hold me
You can't hold me
Don't try to hold me

Ridiculosis
How ridiculous does 'ridiculous' have to become,
Before it gets 'ridiculi'?
And those expressing it...
'Ridiculated'?
It can not stay 'ridiculous' like this,
Without a single change!
And those suffering its affects...
Not realizing the depths of their involvment?
There is not enough of the antidote,
To cure their 'ridiculosis'!

Look at the sunrise and sunset as a spectacle of the ephemeral, as a scene where people climb noisily and pass silently into oblivion, a spectacle in which colors are born and die in the frenzy of the sun.
Look at the sunrise and sunset as a spectacle of heaven as long as you are in time, combining the beauty within you with perfect sincerity in your relationship with God.

We say to the British government: you have kept those sculptures for almost two centuries. You have cared for them as well as you could, for which we thank you. But now in the name of fairness and morality, please give them back.

Fits Ya Good
Well in the air for the world today yeah.
Five oclock and those walls are slowly closin.
You get home so down and worn out, thunderstruck.
Yeah fits you good,
Oh fits you good.
Yeah fits you good, oh.
Closin time you were bringin me down,
Well I know its just the way you live your life.
But you dont know like I know better,
I did all that I could. now it
Fits you good,
Yeah fits you good.
Oh fits you good, oh.
But you dont know what I know,
I did all that I could. now

To set up as a standard of public morality a notion which can neither be defined nor conceived is to open the door to every kind of tyranny.

Salmon Van As
On a night just as the moon is rising
a British officer comes by horse with a white flag
and the rifle barrels of the Boers follow him,
as they are on guard at the front post.
Evening after evening he comes
and sometimes rides past in a cloud of dust
where he is spying on their positions
and tries to lead them astray with his chattering.
With words that by now they know:
“No nation will win against us.
Surrender tonight,
as you have already lost the war.”
On a hillock Salmon van As is at the front post
and something creaks below him in the trees and bushes
where he is standing with his Mauser rifle at the ready
and he knows of the atrocities of this Englishman
where with a thunder clap he shoots at him.
Some black men run back to the British camp
to tell the story of the shot,
where a red headed major stamps his feet in anger
and swears to God to take revenge.
Convinced of his own innocence Salmon van As
stays openly on his own farm,
where he goes on with his life in Heidelberg
and just after the peace of Vereniging,
when it fits the British,
they insist on his arrest.
He is brought before a military court
where he is not given any chance to defend himself,
as probably he would have succeeded in his own defence
and the British officer says his final say.
At daylight the Lee Metford rifles of the British soldiers fire
and like Gideon Scheepers there’s a Boer that falls,
a Boer citizen is murdered by the British
and in the cliff a thorn tree on his grave still tells that story.

Remember the Ridiculous?
Remember the ridiculous?
When outrageous public statements made,
Were attributed to those considered nonconformists.
Or at least depicted as militant with violent wishes!
And were silenced quick wherever they dared to sit.
Remember the heights achieved by those self righteous?
The ones who quoted from scriptures and knew what sinning meant.
The ones who declared a separation of church and politics.
And spoke of family values and deplored decadence.
With hints they were chosen and others lived to be blasphemous!
Rewind these actions and tell me this...
Whose standards vowed are at a crisis now?
Who authorized the lives we live?
While standing by to watch...
Chaos rise to become prioritized as top notch!
With excuses to make and pointing fingers to give!
Remember the ridiculous?
When outrageous public statements made,
Were attributed to those considered nonconformists.
Or at least depicted as militant with violent wishes!
And were silenced quick wherever they dared to sit.
And those making the most noise today...
Protest loudly in disarray!
In groups to influence and convince in their dismay...
They represent the people who are of conservative ways.
Remember the ridiculous?
When terrorists were thought to ride camels...
And not be Ivy league graduates,
On shores who condoned and promoted this!
With only greed and the economy as the main interest.
Too bad the borders can not be secured,
By those who are staunch racists!
